Henry120: South-africa's contribution was insignificant in the DRC. The Congolese, Tanzanians and Ukrainian/indian MI-35 pilots did most of the heavy lifting.South Africa has deployed: 5 Oryx helicopters. : 3 Rooivalk attack helicopters. :Cargo handling teams. : Engineers and mechanics. : Pilots. : A battalion group.(With support elements like Recces, signallers, parabats etc) : Trainers( Colonel Mamadou who was killed on January 1st was trained by saffers, including two of the battalions in his brigade. It was his troops which saw most of the fighting). Compare that with Tanzania : A Battalion and support elements. : Special forces. : Artillery battery. : Engineers. Indian Hinds failed to stop M23 in December 2012. M23 even made fun of them. If you don't know something please SHUT IT. |
Henry120: You "sound" so angry. Did I hit a nerve? Anyway, it ain't happening. You got no money to afford avation fuel, much less additional military procurements. ![]() Aviation fuel? Our C-130BZs flew to Lagos around last week!!! That says it all. |
GreenandGold: While we lost 0 troops in military campaigns in the DRC.And our Malawian and Tanzanian allies lost more than 4 casualties each, through combat and accidents. |
Henry120: Let's get this straight.LOL!!! Butthurt!!!! Didn't DoD just give the go head for Denel to produce 238 Badgers? Didn't the SANDF just award a contract for upgrading SA GDF-005 and 002 guns to be upgraded to Skyshield standard? China built all your OPVs!! Shut up!! |
agaugust: Give us source to prove Valour frigates can be refuelled at sea by SAS Drakenberg and give us prove Valour frigates did not refuel in Brazil before returning home.Listen to your self. ![]() Canada,Australia subs have hit sea bottom during exercises. You're scared of SA subs that bad? More OPVs are going to be built HERE not THERE!!!!! |
agaugust: BwhahahaSAS Drakensberg. Can support them, like they didn't when heading to Brazil. |
Time for Nigeria to take their SBS and SF units for real training in Zimbabwe. But we know, almost all of them will fail the selection course.
|
Henry120: That's because it's a different post.Contradiction. |
agaugust: [size=13pt]Hahahaha Nigeria is struggling!!!!!! I'll ask you again: 1.who's "Shekau"? 2. What's "shekau"? 3. Is BH naming its leaders "Shekau"? Your military went from COIN to Semi-conventional warfare with those poor funded littel devils. The Nigerian military failed to contain BH,to being "ghost in the bushes". SA IS COMING UP!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |
Centrifude: Well at first I didn't understand why india would be selling awesome planes like Su-30s until I did a bit or research and I found out that the reason they sold them is that the commanders had realised that they are now obsolete compared to modern standards, and that's why I also consider it to be obsolete in a way, thing is I know the Su-30 is an awesome plane I'm just tired of Seeing us Africans buy stuff from someone's garage sale, or from a second hand store. No,they're not obsolete. The SU-30Ks Angola bought lack canards, trust vectoring and advanced sensors such as the long range radar installed on other flankers. With support they downed many USA F-15s in an exercise. Also keep in mind that, these jets can be upgraded the fact that they didn't meet India's needs doesn't mean they're obsolete. The only worrying factor is how they were kept in Russia. |
Henry120: No, the link clearly states funding issues.Funding in 90s? When SA ordered 26 Gripens? In the 90s when SAAF has more than 40 fighter jets? In 90s when SAAF had than 20 transport planes. You can't put an argument, you're now resorting cheap claims. |
Henry120: No it means, it is literally gathering dust in your parliament.Didn't I just read some post where you said "that's a figure of speech". Now you're using saying "literally gathering dust". |
Henry120: You need to check into a mental facility.UP!!! To the west coast!!!!!. While Nigeria is still struggling with pirates and terrorists, when you're done securing your land and waters. SA will be sending new SA built OPVs,consolidating our leadership. |
Henry120: No, the link clearly states funding issues.Funding in the 90s? When SA ordered 28 Gripens? In the 90s when SAAF had more than 40 fighter jets? In 90s when SAAF had than 20 transport planes. You can't put an argument, you're now resorting cheap claims. |
Henry120: I do hope they do, Chad is a very dependable partner. However 3 MIG-29's and 2 SU-25's represents a very tiny fleet. They're building. Introducing "100" airframes overnight might lead to maintains issues in the near future. Similar to concerns people were raising about Nigeria, that after the war when funding will be redirected to "socio-economic needs". Such as the rehabilitating process to follow the war in NE. The armed forces will have difficulties,Angola faced the same problems after the civil war. Chad buying 2 C-27Js opens the door, for an follow on order. As they'll likely be retiring their antonovos. Like the Egyptians and the C295. |
agaugust: Zimbabwean army generals came to Nigeria for training that's want the newspapers say and Zimbabwe did not dispute it.Your SBS won't pass ZDF SF selection course. 18 Hours. High intensity. Not giving up. Command not breakdown. Not Surrendering. Inflicting high casualties. |
Henry120: There is barely any Airforce in my region. I wish Algeria/Morocco or Egypt was a next door neighbour.Chad is building its small air force, into an effective force for its needs. In recent years we've seen them procuring fighters and ordering transport planes like the C-27J spartan. African air forces or armed at large are replacing cold war era 90s weapons systems. Expect to see more orders in your region. |
Centrifude: dudes don't take this ish too seriously man, in some way every person on this thread is full of Bullsh*t ... This thread wouldn't be as interesting If both sides tried keeping the sanity or being logical and it wouldn't have lasted this long. This thread would've closed long ago,if we had a constructive debate. But Neaaaaaaah!!!! But we love it this way ![]() |
Henry120: Speak for the SAAF. We know you can't afford aviation fuel. You know, this will be used against you in the near future right? |
Henry120: Lies!!!!!Do you really think I take that comedian with limited military knowledge serious? |
agaugust: We don't earn our daily bread here, Seun Osewa does that with his Nairaland adverts that keep popping up our screen. This is the only time,I'll be backing your view augubugubu. 10/10!!!!! |
Hostermipo: I am giving the last warning, this thread may be closed very soon.we will make this forum "ungovernable",we will protest!!!!! Freedom of speech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't wanna see people having gun? |
agaugust: Same way a few Americans junior ranks came to SANDF to learn how to survive stranded in the bush by roasting lizards for meatBasic bush survival skills. You wouldn't know that. Operators eat and drink anything from snakes, scorpions and extracting water from trees and guts of animals. You think SF units on missions in the deep African bush, will eat pasta? Unlike some country's "SF" which gets trained abroad to fight in AFRICA. |
agaugust: Zimbabwean army generals came to Nigeria for training that's want the newspapers say and Zimbabwe did not dispute it.Training Generals? ![]() Your so called SF can't pass ZDF SF selection course. |
agaugust: Angola is 1,000 km away from Nigeria and that is more than a stone throwYou do realise those are dreams right? NA artillery ? So France is around too? Well the isolation is tightening. |
Centrifude: Angola is seriously arming up ey. Almost upgrading everything, but I'm not feeling the Su-30s they bought from India ey, those were already considered to be obsolete by india. They are not obsolete. They lack stuff like canards and stuff. They're the same sukhois India downed many F-15s with, during some exercise years back. |
agaugust: Nigerian military academy trained Zimbabwean military officers for many years. ![]() Your SF won't pass ZDF sf selection course. Visits are normal,SA has been visited by Chinese,Turkish,Indian,Japanese,Ugandan and many senior defence officials and generals. |
agaugust: Your source says will patrol Angola and Namibia only, so go buy Atlas map to see where West Africa starts from . Olodo rabata ! ![]() Are you scared a real Africa power is coming within a stone throw away from your sea oil installations? Don't worry SA is coming for pirates and protecting its interests. |
ActivateKruger: Please elaborate....Phase 2,of procuring new uniforms. "Taking" new patterns for OT&E. Remember CSIR was experimenting with new camos? Determining the sizes our soldiers, cuts etc. |
Henry120: More like South-african navy running your Subs to the Sea bed.More like our frigates coming to west Africa. Dream on dreamer, one day you'll wake up with saffers building a naval base in Cameroon. |
ActivateKruger: We could have bought that if we wanted to... anyway we not interested in Russian used junk. The Russians come to us. |
agaugust: Rand is local currency SA prints at home, show us dollars/Euros that can buy Badger IFV and CRAM from EuropeA production contract has already been signed for Badger IFV. Also a contract for the twin barrel guns upgrades was signed months ago. Production and Upgrades will done here IN SA. We are not Nigeria. |
