agaugust: Broke SANDF will receive NOTHING until year 2020 grin grin
.
Just visit the armscor website and see contracts issued for the SANDF.

Patchesagain: - The South African Army will soon start receiving its new Badger infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs)
- The SA Army Air Defence Artillery’s very short-range air defence (VSHORAD) Starstreak missile is one of the many pieces of equipment that our projects are yielding and is currently being used by the ADA [Air Defence Artillery] corps as we speak.
- Masondo said that work is underway on R4 upgrades for the Army as part of the African Warrior programme, but other equipment has also been upgraded including the Rooikat armoured vehicle, Olifant main battle tank and SS-77 7.62 mm machinegun.
- The SA Artillery Corps is also doing work on its G6 gun.
- Project Vistula aims to replace the Samil truck fleet and Project Sapula aims to replace the Casspir and Mamba armoured vehicle fleets.

- DefenceWeb
- A tender for designing new army uniform has been issued.

agaugust: Rhino poachers did grin grin
.
Poachers are every where in the world including America.

They're holding no land,they aren't fighting governments.

BH is holding land and your military is failing. Your training is crap.

The USA is training an entire ranger battalion of your army, which shows your special forces lack a "TRAINING CAPABILITY".

agaugust: There was war in Angola for 26 years in your SADC region, ended in 2002, South Africa did not have the courage to send in your spineless SANDF to help Angolan government since 1994 that ANC took power.

SANDF has a reputation for avoiding big wars that need more than 4,000 soldiers grin grin

.
.
Zimbabwe sent its special forces.

SADC countries are great allies. From the struggle days, when Angola opened its doors to freedom fighters from South Africans,Namibians(then South West Africa) to Zimbabwe(then Rhodesia). In Lesotho,Angola,Mozambique and now in the DRC. WHOPPING BU..TT!!!

Unlike ECOWAS countries who allowed terrorists to capture half of Mali, all they can do was threaten military action.

Henry120: Defence Review gathering dust in Parliament gringringringrin

Maynier points out the Review, originally known as the 2012 Defence Review because that was when it was supposed to be completed and tabled in Parliament, eventually made it to the National Assembly as the 2014 Defence Review early in July.

"The Review has been gathering dust in Parliament for nearly three months. The Joint Standing Committee on Defence must make recommendations to the Minister (Mapisa-Nqakula) on the Review."

the critical state of decline of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF)," he said.
gringringringrin
So?

This gives the SANDF time to set up a "unit",to deal with the implementation of the new policy.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 4:26pm On Sep 30, 2014
Henry120: Booooohuuuuu!!!!

Meaning you're too broke to afford the Rooivalk helicopter, that's why you only got 10.
No.

That was the need of the SANDF,as it was designed by 98 defence review to have 12 of them.

SA bought 12 Rooivalks, one made a crash landing when they were still undergoing OT&E.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 4:23pm On Sep 30, 2014
Henry120: Not only Mokopa, you also have over 500 Rafale's in active SAAF service.
Yes,in your dream land.

Obsessed with the Rafale now?

Take your obsessions somewhere.

Your SF can't survive a ZDF SF selection course.

They're pure trash.

agaugust: Give us a list of those secret weapons.

#Self-Trap grin
.
Don't even talk about SF.

All your men would fail to pass the initial selection process of the Zimbabwe SF course.

Our Zim neighbours fought in Angola and stopped a sea of rebels in the DRC.

Unlike some whom fail to deal with a small group,a group rising from bombing attacks to openly confronting them and taking their land.

agaugust: This is too shocking for me, I will leave it for other Naija Ninjas to respond to
.
Yes,SA captured huge amounts of weapons in Angola.

SA also bought equipment to evaluate, like T-72 tanks and others.

Other technologies were also brought to SA like 120mm smooth guns.

agaugust: Janes Defense, your beloved 'Lady Jane' master of defence information says the reason South Africa reduced Rooivalk dedicated undedicated attack helicopter purchase was cut down from 36 to 12 is due to lack of funds.

You've started twisting facts again, don't play us another Mokopa Soccer Game here o !
.
The plan to produce 36 Rooivalks came about during the war in Angola.

The military won't have the needs during peaceful and warring times.

If SA needed 36 Rooivalks the 98 defence review would've called for that.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 6:48pm On Sep 29, 2014
So SA will produce components for the Gripen E,now it EW kit?

People still don't wonder why,SAAF are said to be packed with advanced EW stuff.

Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by MikeZA: 6:39pm On Sep 29, 2014
Henry120: This is not true. Soldiers are humans like everyone else, they take photos and selfies of everyday life, like everyone else.

Not even american specials forces wear those fancy gear, we see, all the time.

You can see from the photos, U.S special forces in Afghanistan. Nothing fancy, no SPV, no tactical gear, Hilux vehicles. Nothing, WOW.
There videos showing regulars fighting in shorts/underpants in Afghanistan.

Some simply wearing a T-Shirt,helmet and "bullet proof",most of the time when defending forward operating bases,as insurgents attack anytime.

Patchesagain: It will overwhelm a portion of the enemy

But as long as they have arty or air left, you got allot of hate coming back at you

Plus all the dust and smoke it kicks up will be a massive homing beacon for any air-assets in the area (or responding)

But yeah, the ground forces who get hit by that will be fvked
Seen a video somewhere, can't find it. About a Ukrainian army unit which came under rebel and Russian forces artillery fire....Mate....shiiiiiiiiiiiii
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 6:30pm On Sep 29, 2014
Henry120: It is also a very visible target for Fighter air-crafts. I don't think you'll be able to respond when this system is done with you (the enemy).

The idea behind this system is to totally overwhelm the enemy. I do not believe the enemy can respond after from his position after this.
Air strikes !!!!

Would be ideal for countries like Egypt, fighting Israel whom can establish a total "air barrier".

But if you don't have total air control over the area that system is operating, then well................

Henry120: "The original intention had been to build 36 Rooivalks for the SAAF, but that was cut to just 12 when defence funding was slashed after 1990."
Yes,including troop numbers and the overall defence force.

Meaning numbers have to be scaled down,as the need for 36 was for the war in Angola.

The ORIGINAL intention or should I say idea to produce 36 Rooivalks came from the needs of a country in war.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 6:10pm On Sep 29, 2014
Henry120: MikeZA, but you said SANDF has Makopa missiles in active service, so what's happening with all the reports stating you're too broke to afford them. So does this mean, you and "patchy the pirate" have been lying all along?
You can quote me.

The SANDF has weapons which aren't inservice nor reserve. Like tanks,Missiles and howitzers.

Some are from the war in Angola, some where bought through shady channels.

The Mokopa was developed under a contract from DoD,part of project impose. The missile is already in production. SA has them.

agaugust: You just wasted your time, you know America only by google search, I know it by living there.

OSHA is only for union members in the Carpenters and Allied Workers union including Scaffolders, OSHA laws do NOT bind non-members, reason why non-union contractors and private people can climb roof top without harness at their own risk

Some people just depend on nets to catch them from a fall.
And why would you use the word "there" instead of "Here"

You are referring to the fact that you live there in your dreams.

This also means you're sitting your ar..se in Lagos writing trash.

agaugust: South African authorities back up the Minister claims, your SAAF chief is only doing damage control to a leaked defense secret.

"March 13/13: Fighters. Opposition Democratic Alliance MP David Maynier recently forced the ANC government to acknowledge that 12 of its 26 delivered JAS-39C/D fighters were in long term storage. In reality, the SAAF’s fighter problem is even worse than that. He sums up the situation this way:

"The sad facts of the Gripen system are as follows: 26 Gripen fighter jets were delivered; 10 or fewer are operational; 12 are in long-term storage; there are six qualified pilots; there are about 150 flying hours available to the entire squadron for 2013."

#SouthAfrican Airforce Is A PaperTiger grin grin

.
Every Gripen is flown within 60 days.

None of them are in storage.

South African Gripens different from the ones flown by SwAF and other air forces.

Patchesagain: No less than R4 BILLION spent on training

Probably the single best formation in Africa at the moment
Looks like the defence force has really listened to experienced junior officers and NCOs.

Now training and exercises include an "opposition" force. Which encourages junior officers to think quick and take the initiative.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 11:03am On Sep 29, 2014
agaugust: Disputed by head of defense ministry.

Why have 18 pilots for 26 Gripens? Shows you have a real shortage existing ! No smoke without fire !

.
Because it is a project. A continuing one.

Not just simply introducing new hardware into the defence force.

As we speak the Gripen is undergoing OT&E.

South Africa now supplies components and soon armaments for the Gripen. This possible through the DIP.

One Gripen is stationed at the TDFC. You'll see SAAF integrating systems designed for the African battlefield.

Henry120: Mike, the Rooivalk is 12% South-African, you should be glad.
Who's the OEM? Imbec..ile
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 10:40am On Sep 29, 2014
Henry120: If you only make the airframe and tires, then the Rooivalk is 12% south-african. An up-grade from the 5-10% I initially wanted.
Denel is the OEM(original equipment manufacture). That means 100%.

As with any advanced modern weapon systems the are sub-contractors. Similar to how SA companies are contracted to supply certain European companies with components.

From the Eurofighter Typhoon,A400M,Gripen to helicopter dust filters.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 5:02pm On Sep 28, 2014
Henry120: We don kill dis people today.

We need to determine the percentage that is actually south-african.

#bookmarked.

So the helicopter is actually not half-french, but only 5-10% south-african. Virtually full french.

Revealing!!!!!
You do that with the Gripen.

It is designed by Sweden, and many of its components are foreign.

SA also supplies many of its components.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 4:59pm On Sep 28, 2014
Initial plans were to produce 36 Rooivalk for SAAF.

This plans were shelved because of a wide range factors from the winding down of the war in Angola, the 1998 defence review to the shrinking the armed forces.

With the 2014 defence review the need is estimated to currently stands at 24.

Now regarding the Mokopa,it was designed under a contract from DoD. And is now in production. SA has them.

They're just not in service.

Badger IFV does NOT exist in South African army armoury, we know that from your Army's official news website and Denel grin grin

.
They're undergoing OT&E.

They have Badger IFV similar to the G7.
