You the answer to all the questions is not a sincere YES, then I will advise you to avoid commenting on issues like these.

So basically, these people are blaming his wife for the actions of a full grown human. Why can't they blame him? If his life turns out badly, he should take charge and steer it into positive.

It is so tiring seeing people blame the woman if the life of a man goes wrong. People should learn to take responsibility for their mess ups and they should be held responsible too

Religion / Religious Delusions And The Psychology Of Death by milkymesh: 6:28pm On Jul 15, 2018
http://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/news/20180715/religion-culture-religious-delusions-and-psychology-death

As early as five years of age I prayed fervently for Jesus' return. Little did I know that I was really fearful of dying."

- Ashby

Since time immemorial, death, an inexhaustible, implacable enemy, has stalked and devoured mankind. A sworn enemy, death is a morbid and depressing subject, even taboo, although, like birth, it is the signature, defining moment of existence.

If indeed there is life after death we believe that we have somehow conquered this deadly foe.

Ancient civilisations have presented the hereafter as an extension of life. The dead, especially royalty, were interred with items, sacrificed animals and their much-needed staff.

In Eastern cultures, an intriguing system of birth and rebirth was introduced called reincarnation or metempsychosis. (In the latter, the soul can devolve into animal form, depending on one's karmic debt).

While there are some compelling books on the likelihood that reincarnation is credible, none more so than Dr Ian Stevenson's Children Who Remember, the jury is still out on this complex doctrine.

No doubt, it is man's deep-rooted psychological fear of death that has given rise to all these unverifiable teachings.

In the article, 'Fear of Death Underlies Most of Our Disorders', the following is most telling:

"When we look closely at the symptoms of several anxiety-related disorders, death themes feature prominently. For example, children experience anxiety disorder that is connected to fear of losing major attachment figures, such as their parents. Compulsive checkers repeatedly check power plants, stoves and locks in an attempt to prevent harm or death.

"People with panic disorders frequently visit the doctor for fear of dying from a heart attack or serious illnesses.

"And specific phobia characterised with excessive fears of heights, spiders, snakes and blood - all of which are associated with death."

The fear of death is based on our unhealthy attachment to a myriad of things and people, including ourselves. The thought of no longer existing can be unsettling, even frightening.

We dread our inability to control what we think belong to us. We dread losing all influence over others, especially over those to whom we are attached.

When asked what is the source of pain, (fear of death) Gautama Buddha answered, "attachment".

It is this attachment to self that has created mythologies of the afterlife. It is the fear of death and hope of existence in some other form that has given birth to religious delusions in eastern and western traditions.

So unhinged by the thought of dying that some of these delusions even promote immortality of the body. How else can we explain the stupendous promise made by Jehovah's Witnesses that the generation of 1914 will not pass away.

UNFULFILLED PROMISES

This claim has long been discounted and, as critic Doug Shields notes in 1914-2014 What will The Watch Tower do Now, many witnesses will turn away from their faith because of unfulfilled promises. (See 1914 - The Generation that will not Pass Away, The Watchtower, 1984. (Note that every witness featured on the magazine cover has long died).

Another equally fantastical teaching is that of the Rapture promulgated mainly by evangelical groups. According to this doctrine, the faithful in Christ will be seized or taken away (raptured), to assemble in heaven while unbelievers struggle to survive in choleric, tempestuous world.

Believers cite the following references to support their claim:

1 Thessalonians 4:17: "Then we who are alive who are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words."

Philippians 3:20-21: "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things unto himself."

1 Corinthians 15:51-53: "We shall be changed in a moment ... in a twinkling of an eye, for the perishable body must put on the imperishable and this mortal body must put on immortality."

David Cox, who disagrees with this premillennial doctrine explains, "(The Rapture) carries the idea of a sudden and secret coming of Christ in the air to catch away from the earth the resurrected bodies of those who have died in the faith and with the living saints.

"Those who teach this believe The Rapture is to occur just before the seven years of tribulation that overwhelm the earth as they believe is described in Revelation 4 through 19. Those that believe in The Rapture will often refer to the secretive taking away of those on earth.

"They say that families will be shocked by the strange disappearance of a father, mother or a child. A husband and wife we are told will be in bed and one will hear a sound and will turn to look to find the other is gone. This doctrine then teaches that the second coming of Christ will be invisible, leaving confusion and chaos among the remaining unbelievers ..." (Gospel Power, Vol. v11, no. 44, Oct. 29, 2000.)

In a fit of fatalism many, including agnostics, have resigned themselves to their fate in this life and just maybe the hereafter. Conversely, some have embraced a materialist philosophy, i.e., that there is absolutely no evidence of life after death.

While others, unconsciously stricken by the dread of dying have contrived, over time, wildly imaginative and spurious doctrines that defy reason. Not surprisingly, the majority sheepishly follow, urged only by their primal attachments.

I lost a loved one as a result of refusal of blood transfusion. Sadly, I am one of those who sanctioned the refusal.
JW Disfellowshipping and excommunication are not same. Catholics excommunicate members but do not shun them.
In Nigeria, shunning may not lead to suicide as a result of our communal nature but it does in other parts of the world.

Christianity is a waste of time. Arguing in support or against any Christian sect or cult is stupidity. Where one is good others are bad and vice versa.

rainmaker12:

Taking in blood by eating or transfusion is the same thing. Jehovah's witnesses do not accept blood. Because it is stated in the bible that we should not. That's all you should care about. It is simple to understand.

If any of their members decided to take it, they get expelled from the group. If they abstain they remain in the group.

They have proven from the bible that we shouldn't. Please prove otherwise using the bible, don't bring in "words of men" Please prove it.

Now, they do not FORCE anyone 'not to' accept blood neither do they force anyone to accept it. Getting expelled from a group is not a death sentence. Every group or organization have their policy, they don't force you to accept it. But if you flat it, they let you out. It is simple! Even at your place of work, its the same, if you break it, they sack you! Why don't you judge them for that?

If you are questioning their policy prove yours to counteract theirs. Don't just be talking out of personal hatred, It doesn't make you wise, and you will look stupid in court.

In Gen 6:6 He regretted that he made man. Some translation rendered regretted as "repent". You regret an action or inaction you likely do not the outcome. Creating man was a mistake and God regretted it.
We learn from our mistake, isn't it?

I saw this somewhere and thought I should share.

After hearing about the creations of God, one of my grand children asked, "How did God learn to do that?" This particular boy has a way of rendering the most learned among us speechless.

My first thought was that God is all knowing and all seeing and all that is or ever was or will be is of God. Therefore, learning would be the burden of man not God. Then however, I began to wonder if it were possible for something to take place on Earth or in the universe that would cause God to know more today than he did yesterday.

Any thoughts?

I won't resort to insult like you just did.

However, since genocide is OK as long as it is approved by god, do not complain about Book Haram killing people because Allah ask them to.
Be informed that the violent god of the old testament is the same as Allah who approves the killing of innocent people who do not worship him.

Jesus is believe is different considering his teaching which opposite of what the god of the old testament approves of.

Religion / Yahweh(god) Of Old Testament Is Satan - Scriptural Proof Inside by milkymesh: 7:18am On Dec 25, 2017
Here is then an irrefutable Biblical proof that Satan is Yahweh:

2 Samuel 24:1

"Again the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go, count the people of Israel and Judah.”

1 Chronicles 21:1

"Satan stood up against Israel, and incited David to count the people of Israel."

Just as we compare the four gospels with each other to figure out who "the beloved disciple" in John is, we can compare 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles to figure out who Satan is. And the answer is right there.

Another one:

Isaiah 45:7

" I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." KJV

New Testament:

James 1:13

" Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man" KJV

Now can we say the God of the Old Testament is actually Satan considering the various evil he approved: Genocide against the Canaanites, killing of innocent children in Egypt, approving the death of Jobs ten children, inciting David's census so he can plague Israel?

Your view please.

Happy Xmas.

There is no one God that is supreme. The world and the universe as a whole is controlled by several forces(gods). Africans have a perfect idea of god. We have the god of thunder, iron, water body etc. These control their domain. The idea that these or there is a God who know all things is a human conception.

Religion / Is God Really Omniscience? Does He Know Everything? by milkymesh: 4:36pm On Dec 16, 2017
If God know everything, why did he have to text Adam and Eve with a tree to be sure?

There Are Times in the Bible When God Doesn’t Know All, and Tests People to Find Things Out
The Bible says God is perfect in knowledge, knows all thoughts, all secrets, sees all and no-one can hide from God.

Yet there are times when God doesn’t know things, such as where people are.

Check these verses:

Genesis 3:8-13 – Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord, amongst the trees of the garden, and God had to go find them, and then asks them questions.

Genesis 11:4 -9 – Tower of Babel;: God “comes down” to see what the people are up to.

Genesis 18:20-21 – “Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know. ””(SO HE DOES NOT KNOW??)

Job 1:7 , 2:2 – “And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, from going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”(He does not know where Satan has been)

Yet an all-knowing God, creator of all time, knows exactly who will pass any tests, and knows exactly what is in everyone’s heart. So either God is lying about his reasons, or, god is not actually all-knowing.

God is Neither Omniscient Nor Omnipotent.

Epicurus Sums It Up Quite Well

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

There is no difference between stories in the bible and Koran. They are more of fiction, myth than real events.
The Koran is much more filled with fabrications than actual events.
All Abrahamic religion are same.

I have been a Christian all my life. However, I keep wondering why God had to test Adam & Eve with a fruit tree.
The testing is not my problem. When we build things as human we test them to ensure they fit the purpose for which we made them. God is all knowing(that mean he knew the defect inherent in his creation yet he did not perfect it. They fail the test, meaning they failed the fitness test.

Now my questions:

1. Why not eliminate them and create other human having learnt from the initial defect?

2. Why do we have to suffer for so long?

These bible stories don't just add up anymore.
