Politics / The Agitation For Biafra by milkymesh: 8:41pm On Dec 03, 2015
Got this from facebook.

When power shifted from North to South in 1999, Zamfara decided the time was ripe for Sharia. It was the beginning of a long road that culminated in Mohammed Yusuf and his band of followers rejecting the politician’s Sharia, and demanding more. So, somebody killed him. And Boko Haram climbed out of his grave. And its resilience in the face of Jonathan’s attempts to push it back into that grave played a big, big role in ensuring that power rotated back to the North in 2015.
No. This was not the first time in our history when violence (or the threat of it) combined with the demand of an ethno-regional bloc for greater representation to achieve political ends. When IBB annulled the June 12 elections, it gave birth to many things, one of which was the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), and a determination to make the country – how do we like to say it now? – ‘ungovernable’. It was a threat that did a lot to help Obasanjo’s odds in 1998, when the power brokers went scouting for the next President.
Not very different from the thinking of the grand chess players who dipped into Bayelsa in 2007 to pick a running mate for Umaru Musa Yar’Adua; for the South-Southerners had come a long way from Isaac Boro. After years of being ignored, the late 1990s saw a turn to militancy, and the more effective they became at it the more leverage they gained in politics. As surely – and for the same basic reasons – as power had to go up North in 2015, so in 2011 it could not have gone anywhere else but to the region with the most capacity for troubling the waters.
So, please, let us not act surprised. Honestly, the transition from Ralph Uwazurike to Nnamdi Kanu is not very different from the transition from Saro Wiwa to Asari Dokubo, or from Mohammed Yusuf to Abubakar Shekau. (Indeed, if you are into history, you will know that it is not even very different from the transition from Herbert Macauley to Nnamdi Azikiwe.) True. So, I don’t really understand all this going around scratching our heads and shouting, ‘What is wrong with these Igbo people?’
Please, let us not behave as if this country began with the swearing in of Mohammadu Buhari. No. The real questions we should be asking are: (1) In

Nigeria, why is the rise to power of an individual always PERCEIVED as the rise to power of the ethno-religious bloc he (or she) is indigenous to? (2) In Nigeria, why does the PERCEIVED rise to power of one ethno-religious bloc always create fears of marginalization in some other ethno-religious bloc? (3) In Nigeria, why is it that those who complain loudest, most persistently, and most bitterly about the standards of living in the country are often those belonging to ethno-religious blocs OUTSIDE central power? (4) In Nigeria, why is it that the moment a member of an ethno-religious bloc rises to power, other members of that bloc – REGARDLESS of whether their standards of living actually improve as a result or not – immediately become more supportive of Government?
I know. These are not easy questions. But until they are answered, and our social attitudes to power begin to change, then when the Christian enters office, let him get ready for the Muslim to start raising points of order; and when the Muslim enters office, let him get ready for the Christian to start raising points of order. And in the mean time, my brother, after all these years together, let us at least stop acting surprised. Because it only helps history to repeat itself.

NOTE:
DLA was provided with a mediocre "drainage" that drains water no where. Even if every able person in asaba come to clear the drain, it will yield no result for the following reasons:

1. The drain are sealed with a removable slab every 30 or 40 feet. Its such that it will be difficult for manual clearing.
2. Where will the water in the drainage flow to when there are filled. NO WHERE. Meaning, when filled they flow back into the road and adjioning residence..

There is no state that doesn't have a place like this in the state capital. Youths of my area came out one time nd dug out all the drainages that had been blocked by refuse to let water pass thru instead of waiting for government nd crying to the wrong people in the wrong place. If that's your area, u can help yourselves or keep patiently waiting for government

Clearing drainage is not restricted to your area. Its done everywhere where drainage exist. Even youths in flooded area dig gutter to drain water to provided channels. The state should at least provide channels. Do you expect citizen to dig drainage that will span at least 3 kilometres to the nearest river, stream or "borrow-pit"? There is limit to self help.
Check pix below and tell me where to channel the flood.

When are we going to hold our governors, HOA members, Local govt Chairmen responsible for their inaction. What you see in Asaba is also replicated in Warri, Ughelli, Sapele, Agbor, Effurun. No road, good drainage in an oil rich state. Do I blame/hold Jonathan or Buhari for the lack of action of my state governor?

This is DLA road in Asaba, capital of oil rich Delta State. Maybe you think the flooded road is because of heavy down pour. You are wrong. Road are either constructed without drainage. What a state govt construct is "gutter". Where will the water go, when the gutters are all filled with no channel to drain the water into the River Niger? What you have is a flooded major road. You can now imagine how the streets look like, if a major road is flooded. Street with no gutter, much more a drainage

Crime / Re: Robbers Drown Inside Canal While Escaping With N13,000 (Graphic Pic) by milkymesh: 10:55am On Sep 30, 2015
Comments like this assure me we will get there. Dear NLders, let us not fall for police, newpaper, etc propaganda of covering up extra-judicial killing by naming innocent people robbers. Even when they took what was found in their possession, its only the court that can pronnounce a person guilty of an alleged offence/crime.

buygala:
Please someone should explain to me some unclear matters in this thread sad

If the men died in the canal on Thursday and were discovered on Saturday, then why are their bodies so neat and not bloated? ..Rigor mortis and bloating sets in real fast when someone dies in such watery circumstances sad.... see how neat the clothes on one of the corpses are... even the white in his faded jean is still shining sad

Secondly, how were the armed robbers identified even as they were being pursued around 8pm, a time which entails highly reduced recognition possibilities even with streetlights.... Unless the robbers took pishures with the police or vigilante before escaping, what criteria did the police use in concluding that the corpses were the armed robbers of Thursday night?

Thirdly, if the corpses are still 'suspects', why give the dead bodies a bad name, parading them online as armed robbers?

My point is, I don't believe this story one bit undecided .... If a story can't be properly reported, it shouldn't be reported at all undecided ....Both the Nigerian
Police and Punch newspapers need some lessons in proper propaganda dissemination sad

Every year, millions of Muslims converge on the Saudi
holy cities of Mecca and Medina for the annual hajj pilgrimage, with the massive ceremonies representing a major security and logistical challenge for the kingdom's authorities.
On occasion, the Hajj and events surrounding it have been marred by accidents and tragedies, such as the stampede near Mecca that killed at least 700 people.
Here are some of the most deadly Hajj-related incidents in recent years:
2015: At least 150 people are killed and 400 injured in a stampede in Mina, on the outskirts of the holy city of Mecca. In the lead-up to hajj, at least 107 people are killed and scores wounded when a crane collapses in bad weather, crashing onto the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Islam's holiest site.
2006: More than 360 pilgrims are killed in a stampede at the desert plain of Mina, near Mecca, where pilgrims carry out a symbolic stoning of the devil by throwing pebbles against three stone walls. The day before the hajj began, an eight-story building being used as a hostel near the Grand Mosque in Mecca collapsed, killing at least 73 people.

Romance / Re: 30 Famous Movie Lines You Can Use To Woo A Guy Or Girl. by milkymesh: 5:49am On Sep 22, 2015
Some guys don’t know all the right things to say, but even if they don’t, they might know a few right things to say, and sometimes, more often than not, that’s also enough. I happen to be a sucker for great quotes, and I tend to fall in love with a song not because of the melody, but because of the lyrics. There is nothing more romantic than hearing someone tell you something that only sounds like it was taken right out of a movie.
Just like in matters of love and relationships, if you know there are some things that always work like a charm, why wouldn’t you use them on your guy or gal? With that said, romantic movie quotes are things we know would often work. We know they work because those same lines managed to pull on our heartstrings when we watched them. The best movie lines to use on someone you like When you simply can’t come up with anything romantic to say, look to these sweet lines to sweep your guy or gal off their feet.
#1 Love means never having to say you’re sorry. –Love Story
#2 Don’t forget, I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her. –Notting Hill
#3 Take love, multiply it by infinity and take it to the depths of forever… and you still have only a glimpse of how I feel for you.– Meet Joe Black
#4 You complete me. –Jerry Maguire
#5 When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. –When Harry Met Sally
#6 To me, you are perfect. –Love, Actually
#7 Someone once told me that the power in all relationships lies with whoever cares less, and he was right. But power isn’t happiness, and I think that maybe happiness comes from caring more about people rather than less. –Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
#8 I love you without knowing how, why, or even from where. –Patch Adams, taken from Pablo Neruda
#9 Me? I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw, I’m scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you. –Dirty Dancing
#10 You had me at hello. –Jerry Maguire
#11 So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day. –The Notebook
#12 The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.–Moulin Rouge
#13 Look, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person is still going to think the sun shines out your ass. That’s the kind of person that’s worth sticking with.–Juno
#14 I know I have a heart, because I feel it breaking. –Wizard of Oz
#15 If you love someone, you say it, right then, out loud. Otherwise, the moment just passes you by. –My Best Friend’s Wedding
#16 I am nothing special. Just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who’s ever lived: I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.– The Notebook
#17 I’d rather fight with you than make love to anyone else. –Wedding Date
#18 Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it’s the moments that take your breath away. –Hitch
#19 If you were a melody, I would use only the good notes. –The Holiday
#20 You changed my life. You changed my life, and I’ve known you for four days. –Garden State
#21 Sometimes, the things you want the most don’t happen and what you least expect happens. I don’t know – you meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you. And then you meet one person and your life is changed forever.– Love and Other Drugs
#22 It doesn’t matter if the guy is perfect or the girl is perfect, as long as they are perfect for each other.– Good Will Hunting
#23 I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you’re always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call. But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.– 10 Things I Hate About You
#24 I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss of her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One.– City of Angels
#25 And maybe it’ll be enough if you know that in the few hours we had together we loved a lifetime’s worth.– Terminator
#26 Love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without. If you don’t start with that, what are you going to end up with?– Meet Joe Black
#27 You make me want to be a better man.– As Good as It Gets
#28 I’m not a smart man, but I know what love is.– Forrest Gump
#29 I wish I knew how to quit you.– Brokeback Mountain
#30 The only way you can beat my crazy was by doing something crazy yourself. Thank you. I love you. I knew it the minute I met you. I’m sorry it took so long for me to catch up. I just got stuck.– Silver Linings Playbook.
If anyone were to say these great lines to me, I would absolutely melt inside. What girl wouldn’t want a handsome guy she likes telling her all the things she has only actually heard and known to be true in movies, but dreamed about happening in real life? There is a reason some girls tell guys they know all the right things to say. My guess is they have probably taken some notes from watching romantic movies or reading a great love story.
As cheesy as you might think it seems, it works, and it works really, really well. So the next time you desperately want to say something romantic to make your girl or guy swoon, but you find yourself getting tongue tied, just remember some of these incredible movie quotes and use them. Source:

Did you say "if God offends you"? God is a perfect being. Can he do wrong? Only imperfect being, who are prone to mistake can do wrong. So how can he then offend some.
Reading through every comment on this thread convinces me that a lot of people don't,t even know what they profess to worship, nor the book they claim as their authority.

mankind is very foolish and dumb. No they are not they only close their eyes denying fact. The bible advises the idiots to forgive others if they want to be forgiven.

It was an advice not law the same bible said anyone you forgive is forgiven and anyone you do not forgive is not forgiven.

Is your choice choose what you want...however, likewise, if God offends you forgive him if you want and if you don't want don't. Also if GOD wants he forgives if he does not want no problem the same applied to us all.

God would be very wicked to punish anyone in hellfire... if he has such plans, I better do every evil thing there is... after all I'd not be the only one there
.. two weeks is all I give, I'd become used to the fire.... I go even day swim inside... i musT flex for hellfire... but fortunately, nothing like hellfire... Jehovah is a wonderful father.... very loving... that's why I love him, and that's I told him I wanted to do his will for the rest of life...

Adherents of the different faith misrepresent their God. I for one believe that only a monster will prepare a place like hell to roast his enemies forever without pity or mercy at any time during the "forever".
Another things is that with the advances of man in science and technology, men will adapt anrd also put out the fire and make the place very habitable. Men have made very uninhabitable places on earth habitable, even the moon which ordinarily uninhabitable , men have spend months there .

The Fate of:
-The 320 Unity Bank sacked bankers
-The 1,200 Zenith Bank sacked bankers
-The 800 Access Bank sacked bankers
-And the 400 Mainstreet (now Skye bank) sacked bankers.
# BeTheJudge.

You worked in the bank in the past five years that GEJ was president, you had no issues with your job. Instead, you received promotions and increased salary packages. You were happy.
However, in those five years, you committed a lot of energy calling President GEJ "clueless". You and your friends resolved to vote him out on the election day. When the d-day finally came, you all voted out GEJ, not minding who was going to replace him since, according to you, a "# NEPAbillCertificate" would be far more efficient than GEJ. In fact you even preferred a goat to GEJ.

Finally, you got your wish and GEJ is out and a "body language Administration" is now in place. Three months later, your bank fires you due to the Stone Age economic policies of the body language regime.

Now that you're jobless, you are looking for GEJ to blame but he is gone.

Moral Lesson: most misfortunes are self inflicted. Food for thought. Happy Sunday everybody.

I really admire your logic. If we all reason in a similar manner, we will free ourself from the mental slavery and superstitions of religion.
Howver, pick up the New World Translation of Jehovah's Witnesses, you will appreciate the effort they made.
Howver, Is the God of the Christians the real God. Why so much emphasis on them?

loveroftruth:
This issue gave me cause for concern hence I decided to share.

There are many Gods mentioned in the Bible, from the old testament to the new testament, since the inception of the writing of the Bible was started up till it completion, the names of this gods have been retained consistently therein.

However, I have come to notice a seeming battle for the retention of the Name of a particular God and the reluctance thitherto for the Name to be a part of the Bible.

Even the retention of the name of this God in symbol form to be included in the Bible has been refused and contested also by most, even among those that claimed and go by the name Christians.

The name has a symbol, and has many variance, some people refer to it as Yahweh, some Jehovah, still some make use of the four consonants YHWH, while it also has the four Hebrew consonants written in Hebrew alphabets.

Yahweh is the GOD of the Jews, the Bible was written by Jews. we all know, but, the irony is that, most Bible under circulation today does not have this name in whatever form in its pages, even in symbol format.

And, as funny as it seems, the GOD of the Jews is supposed to be the Author of the books that makes up this book called the Bible that is under consideration.

While the retention of the names of all this other Gods are not contested in the Bible, in whatever translation you look up, the same is not the case when it comes to that of the name of its so called Author. Hence, majority of the Bibles used on earth today is without the said name.

My puzzle is thus:

IS THE ABSENCE OF THE NAME OF THE acclaimed AUTHOR OF THE BIBLE IN WHATEVER TRANSMISSION/TRANSLATION NOT AN ABERRATION?

I mean, consider the name of the author of a book being removed from his book, would that not be considered an injustice?

If the above ^ is true, under what conditions/consideration is the removal of the name of Yahweh from most Bible not an issue meriting your attention and is not an injustice and an ERROR?

THE Bible you are using, does it contain the name of Yahweh in any form?

If no, are you cool with that?

If you are cool with the removal of the name in your translation, what makes you feel OK with such?

Tell me, do you think it is a normal or it is an anormally ?

let's talk. what do you think?
