I am having insomnia and getting brain zaps due to anti depressant given to me by a doctor , I sleep just 2 hours at night , and whenever I try to nap in the afternoon, it’s as if my brain is stopping me from that

I really don’t know what to do at this moment , as I am scared of going to the hospital

Before the prescription, did your doctor explore with you what could have enabled your state of depression?

Some Nigerians have battered the meaning of sex therapist, someone who sells products/ charms to sexually hook a partner is called a sex therapist!

A sex therapist? Some people are just the way they are and are happy like that. If you start making her believe she is not normal, that one na new wahala.

Not necessarily a "sex therapist" but a therapist who is grounded in Marriage/ Family Therapy and Human sexuality (just reminded me of my PSY 304 Human Sexuality course back in school and my class presentation titled: God and Sex )

Mental blocks are affecting their sexual life and should seek professional help if they don't see that approach as being "unchristian" as they need to shed off the title of Pastor and Pastor's wife once in that therapy room.

I will want to believe children within the custody of registered orphanages in Nigeria are expected to have their details lodged in a family courts and when there is a request for adoption, officials from the state ministry responsible, their social workers and the family courts get involved.

The magistrate is the one who gives final order for the release of the child to the adoptive parent/parents, which is a long and windy process but in Nigeria, some orphanages are into runs.

Accross the world, there is a huge skepticism when it comes to a single male wanting to adopt a girl child as it is usually rejected, the psychologists involved in the process usually do not approve such an arrangement as the request is usually met with raised eyebrows.

It is not just an issue of having a dirty mind or not but the most important thing is how it will help the child to be exposed to less risks and adjust better in life, going forward.

The one that is giving me sleepless nights is, how girls now smoke more than guys. An average Nigerian girl is now a smoker, they do drugs more than guys. When they can't maintain the resources for the drugs, they resort to online prostitution to raise funds for drugs.

In Nigeria, visit the Federal Neuro-psychiatric Hospitals in Yaba (Lagos), New Haven (Enugu) and some others in Benin, Kaduna, Calabar etc and see the FACTS.

I work in a psychiatric hospital during family therapy sessions with relatives of patients, some give ultimatum on when they relatives "must be cured" or they request for discharge against medical advice.

A pyromaniac or one who is struggling with schizophrenia is being admitted and relatives wants overnight transformation!

Buhari still believes he is in control.

Who would want to come back to today's Nigeria.

I have accident in 2001 and it affected my head, that's how I started experiencing migraine and I come dey forget things just like that.
The head pain na non stop o, na from January to December.
But I thank God say even say I dey fill pain, I no run mad, I still dey know the different between left and right

I suggest you get to first see a Counselling Psyschologist/Therapist before a Psychiatrist. A well qualified therapist should help you better crystalize what you are living through and know if you do really need to see a psychiatrist for further assessment and prescription of drugs.

Not all mental health related issue needs the attention of a Psychiatrist, I work in a psychiatric facility and not all patients see the Psychiatrists.

"The other day my sister ran to my house in the morning, she said the kids said they won't eat concoction rice again. That's has been their major food. We were both crying . I had to give her some money to make plantain for them"... Kids declaring they won't eat concoction rice and their mother had to run out of the house to go get money from her sister to buy plantain for them, a clear indication that permissive parenting style is what is going on in your sister's home....the children dictates and that needs to CHANGE!

I am not surprised they borrowed and owed several loan apps because they needed to keep up appearances.

As earlier suggested, let them get the children enrolled in a public primary school near them and they would gradually adjust to the school system.

Sorry for the late reply sir, even on insurance like NHIS here in nigeria, they will still redirect you where to purchase the drug because they won’t able to afford it.

So sad. I work in a psychiatric facility and know how expensive such drugs are. There need to be advocacy on the need to incorporate it in the NHIS.

Truth man, also have one in the family but the drugs are not that easy to get if person is not financially stable and the worst is if that person break down, usually worst than how the issues start.

Is it possible to get the relative on a health insurance that will cover it because the drugs are expensive.

What we all owe people struggling with mental health issues is empathy, which should also be extended to their families as well.

Red pillims is justified by the rejection and heart break they have experienced. And if you are hurt, you need medication. They chose to take the red pill to feel better. The red pill is the promise that if you employ a few manipulation tactics then ladies will adore and admire you, whether you are a school dropout or not.

You have to understand that for majority of them on red pillism focused threads, being on those threads is like group therapy sessions for them where they relieve their “Madonna-w.h.o.r.e complex,” where many of them see their mothers as saints while other women are prostitutes/useless beings and deserves to be maltreated.

Just reminds me of patients who are very vocal during group therapy sessions but during individual therapy sessions, selective mutism sets in.
