Proper management of mental health issues which consists of adherence to medication, psychotherapy, family/social support as these are very important.

That is very dangerous because antidepressants have classes MAOIs, SSRIs, SNRIs etc and it is only a Psychiatrist after assessment can prescribed what class of antidepressant the patient should take because depression is a spectrum.

I think you need to get on Fluoxetine (Prozac) .. see a doctor first though and get a proper prescription.. your friend's memory loss could've been caused by something else...

I hope he will be strong enough to go see a psychiatrist as many are reluctant to do so.
