I thought Mr. Tunde Bakare had said he want to be the next President of the Country after Buhari. Now others are showing interest and making known their intentions openly, but Pastor Bakare is staying mute, nobody has heard about his own political group, how does he want to achieve his tall political dream then, if he is afraid to join the political fray?

Oleys:
APC chieftain, Engr. Joe Igbokwe, the special adviser to the governor of Lagos State on drainage and water resources was on his Facebook account this evening to quote a statement made by Abdulmumin Jibrin concerning Bola Tinubu.

In the shared statement, Jibrin revealed that he was shocked when he discovered that Bola Tinubu has huge shares in Apple corporation, one of the most valuable technology companies in the world and he also discovered that Tinubu owns a large amount of shares in Manchester United, one of the biggest football clubs in the world, Jibrin noted that he made this discovery while he was watching football with Tinubu recently.

Abdulmumin Jibrin then went further to let people know that Tinubu has been funding pro democracy groups with his investments since the 90s and nobody has come out to argue about that, Jibrin then wondered why people didn’t ask Tinubu were he got his money from when he was funding the fight for democracy in Nigeria.

Some of Tinubu’s sources of income are beginning to unfold, for those asking or wandering how Tinubu got so much money, those that are close to him are already revealing his income sources little by little, with time all other questions will be addressed.

Politics › Re: Many Injured As Muslim Parents Protest Against Rejection Of Hijab by Minime10(m): 8:23pm On Feb 03, 2022
NaijaMutant:
Some Muslim parents on Thursday stormed Oyun Baptist High School, Ijagbo, in the Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State to protest against the rejection of their wards in the school.

However, the protest which started as a peaceful one, took a violent turn when an unidentified man rushed to the school to inform other protesters of a machete cut.

This triggered an angry reaction from the protesting Muslim parents as they looked around for various weapons to defend themselves. However, police officers swiftly dispatched them.

NAN reports that the police fired warning shots into the air and also used teargas to dispatch the protesters in order to control the situation as unidentified persons from inside the Oyun Baptist High School, were seen throwing missiles at those outside the premises.

Meanwhile, several persons have sustained varying degrees of injury.

For instance, a man in his early 20s was seen being rushed to a nearby hospital for reportedly being shot at.

Normalcy was however restored by a combined team of police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The Public Relations Officer of the Kwara Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said security personnel had been deployed to the scene to restore peace.

Okasanmi said normalcy has returned to the school and that security operatives would remain there until the area was safe for the residents.

The controversies surrounding the use of Hijab in schools have rocked Kwara State, particularly in schools which have identified as missionary schools.

On January 25, the government restated its policy and directed management of schools in the state to allow the use of Hijab by willing Muslims without forcing it on anyone or turning them back for using it.

Some Muslim parents and their wards were seen on some major streets of Ilorin on Wednesday protesting against the management of Oyun Baptist High School for turning back some students for wearing Hijab.

A government delegation, led by the Commissioner for Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Kawu, had twice visited the school to resolve the matter.

Another delegation led by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mohammed Saifudeen, also visited the town for the same reason on Thursday.

The only solution to this madness is very simply. The school authority should make it compulsory for morning devotions to be conducted in school with the teaching of the Bible and make mandatory too that some verses of the Bible be recited and memorised by all the students during devotions since the school is a missionary school and watch the hijab loving parents begin to withdraw their wards with immediate alarcrity

Ibomheadlines:
I MEAN WELL FOR THE STATE: GOV EMMANUEL SPEAKS ON WHY HE PICKED UMO ENO AS HIS SUCCESSOR

Fresh from presenting his Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno as his preferred Successor, Governor Udom Emmanuel, says his decision was based on the fact that he means well for the State.

The Governor disclosed this while fielding questions from a group of journalists earlier in the day and later at the commissioning of Spectrum Television, the State’s first privately owned cable television station, owned and operated by TAF Media Group, on why he settled for the Lands and Water Resources Commissioner.

“Let me say this emphatically, I mean well for this State, that is why I waited for God to show me the man who would continue with the pace of developmental strides we have started in the last six plus years and then move the needle even further.

"Pastor Umo Eno is a highly respected person; he has enormous capacity, is an epitome of humility, and is blessed with the common touch, a compelling story and is God- fearing.

"He is a successful entrepreneur who has employed our people, lifted thousands from poverty to prosperity.

"He will be coming to the office of Governor with an economic blueprint that will further guarantee employment, development, and economic prosperity for our people.

"He is a man of peace and will ensure that the peace and security of life we have enjoyed in the last six plus years will be maintained.
His life story resonates with the story of most ordinary Akwa Ibom people.

"He came from the Police barracks, where, as he said during his Thanksgiving Service last year, life was dreary and hope seemed a distant ingredient.

Through hard work, he summoned hope and overcame his early difficulties and ended up as one the biggest employers of labour in our State.

His story is a testament to our Dakkada philosophy; one that will inspire and motivate our youths.

The Governor stated that he never looked for a surrogate to do a third term but rather was looking for a man of exceptional capacity, of peace and humility and enjoined all peace-loving and progress-minded Akwa Ibomites to rally round and support God’s choice.

“I will never use God’s name in vain” the Governor stated at an interview at the Spectrum Television St
udio with host, Ekaete Afia.
Udom meanwhile, my late father's entitlements of 2003 that he died in active service, after putting up 33 solid years as a teacher, has not been paid till today.

Politics › Re: My Gov Ambition ‘On Course’ Despite Gov Udom's Preferred Successor -Onofiok Luke by Minime10(m): 3:42pm On Jan 31, 2022
kahal29:
Barely three hours after Governor Udom Emmanuel disclosed the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources in Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, as his preferred successor for governor in 2023, a federal lawmaker in the state has defiantly reacted, saying, “my aspiration to serve the state in the capacity of the Governor remains on course.”

The lawmaker, Onofiok Luke, who represents Etinan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is also aspiring to succeed Mr Emmanuel as governor in 2023.

Both Mr Luke and Governor Emmanuel’s preferred successor, Mr Eno hail from the same Local Government Area – Nsit Ubium.

Mr Luke said he was neither against the choice of the governor coming from his local government area nor the aspiration of Mr Eno whom he described as his “brother”.

Mr Luke, who is a former speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly said he, however, disagreed with the way Mr Eno was presented.

In his seven-paragraph statement on the development, Mr Luke said, “I honoured an innocent meeting (invitation) from the governor out of respect and as a loyal party man.

“It was at the said meeting that I heard of the agenda and choice for the first time and no one held any discussion with me prior to the meeting.”

Mr Luke is the first aspirant to publicly react to the presentation of Mr Eno as Governor Emmanuel’s successor.

“My supporters and those sympathetic to my cause should please note that we are as resolute as ever in our desire to give our people purposeful leadership in the office of the Governor come 2023,” he said.

PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported the spokesperson to Governor Emmanuel, Ekerete Udoh, confirming the presentation of Mr Eno as the governor’s preferred successor, on Sunday evening in the Government House, Uyo.

“Yes, completely truthfully, correct. Governor Emmanuel this evening at the PDP stakeholders meeting that took place at the lodge, Government House, presented Mr Eno as his preferred candidate to succeed him.”

“He was thereafter presented to the PDP stakeholders that were present, by former governor, Victor Attah, and it was widely received,” Mr Udoh said.

Apart from Mr Luke, the senator representing Akwa Ibom North East District, Bassey Albert, and a former vice chairman of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, Udom Inoyo, are in the governorship race.

About three other commissioners in Mr Emmanuel’s cabinet are also aspiring to succeed him.

[quote author=Feminews post=109290798]2023: Neither Tinubu nor Umahi 'll be a match for Akpabio - Dr. Tafida

The National Coordinator of Senator Godswill Akpabio for Common Good (SGACG) , Dr. Jibril Tafida has reacted to the separate meetings of Chief Bola Tinubu and Ebonyi State's Governor Umahi with President Muhammadu Buhari, over the 2023 presidency, saying none of the duo will be match for Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi told State House Correspondents on Tuesday that he has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his ambition to contest the presidency on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).

Governor Umahi’s action came barely 24 hours after the National Leader of the Party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, took similar steps.

Reacting, Dr. Tafida in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna said "both Tinubu and Umahi are no match for Akpabio and as a volunteer group we are confident that our struggle to convince Senator Godswill Akpabio to contest Nigeria's presidency in 2023 will eventually yield positive outcome".

Tafida, while responding to a question on whether Tinubu and Umahi's declarations could threaten Akpabio's prospects because they are ahead of him in going public, he said the duo were "in too much of a hurry and Akpabio is a slow and steady man, who could win any race. We are not the least disturbed the action of the duo because we are currently calculating and consulting with relevant stakeholders".

Dr. Tafida assured that although his group was still working to convince Akpabio to take shot at the nation's presidency in 2023, the former Akwa Ibom governor will not disappoint Nigerians".

He explained that there was a lot to prove that Senator Akpabio, the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs is favored by history because of his democratic credentials and age, unlike Tinubu - who is clearly old enough to play advisory role in governance at the national level. Even at the international level, younger people are today the leaders, as can be found in France, North Korea among others", he argued.

Dr. Tafida also disclosed that his group, the SGACG has reached advanced stage in mobilizing support for the proposed Akpabio-led presidency and expressed hope of successfully drafting him into the 2023 race.[/quote

All these self seeking groups are nonetheless cashing out on some of this mumu politicians by helping them to press their mumu and their over bloated political egos, on the imaginary alter of becoming a president.

Naijadaily:
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu, says he will consider contesting for president if the All Progressives Congress (APC) zones its presidential ticket to the South-East region.

Kalu disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Tuesday after Christmas and New Year break.

Before now, many pro-democracy groups have endorsed Kalu and expressed their readiness to see that he emerges as the flag bearer of the APC in the 2023 presidential election.

Also the presidential campaign posters of the former Abia State governor have been spotted in major cities in the country.

While commending the groups drumming support for him to vie for president in 2023, Kalu said they found him worthy to deliver good governance to the nation.

He also reacted to his posters flooding major cities in Nigeria and said he had not made up his mind to contest.

“I want to continue to thank people who are putting up my posters all over Nigeria, I have not made up my mind whether to vie for president or not.

“But if opportunity is given to the South-East, I will think again to see if there is room because the party has not said where they are zoning the president to.

“But I know the party will bring a president who will work for the unity of the country which is more important,’’ Kalu said.

*LET'S PATRIOTICALLY RESOLVE BORDER DISPUTES, OSINBAJO SAYS AT FORUM BETWEEN DEPUTY GOVERNORS, BOUNDARY COMMISSION*

*OPENING ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO, SAN, GCON, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, AND CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL BOUNDARY COMMISSION AT A MEETING WITH DEPUTY GOVERNORS REGARDING BOUNDARY ISSUES HELD AT THE OLD ASO VILLA BANQUET HALL ON THE 10TH OF JANUARY 2022*

PROTOCOLS

Your Excellencies, I thank you very much for taking the time to be here for this event and especially also to welcome you all to this meeting, perhaps the first of its kind in the history of the National Boundary Commission itself and certainly the first in the life of our administration.

The idea of this meeting came from discussions I have had at various times with several of your excellencies and most recently with a group of your excellencies who were concerned that the potential of the Commission to settle disputes and minimize inter-state rancour and instability would be greatly assisted by the Commission interacting directly with responsible State functionaries and getting a better sense of how they think their border disputes could be more efficiently and more successfully tackled.

I fully agreed that such an interaction was necessary and important after all, the users of the services of the Commission are best suited to give useful feedbacks and in any event, such an interaction would be an opportunity to jointly review the work of the Commission so far and to chart a pathway to peaceful management of our inter-state Boundaries. And we cannot stress this enough: the attempt to try and resolve boundary issues as peacefully as possible.

Land is an emotive issue, and this is so, not just in our country, but everywhere. It accounts in many cases for the mindless violence and sometimes fatalities that result from border disputes and clashes. For many of our people, it is the very essence of their identity; in some cases, it is tied to ancestry and ancient unresolved rivalries. But lost on many combatants is the fact that many of these boundary lines are in many cases merely for administrative convenience, the sorts of disputes we have, even if there are, shouldn’t result in violence and dislocation of so many of our people.

So the handling of border disputes requires a good knowledge of the issues, and in my view, sincerity of purpose and sensitivity. This can only be effectively done at the highest levels of governance which is why the National Boundary Commission (Establishment Act) 2006, provides organs at all three levels of government to establish State Boundary Committees under the chairmanship of the Deputy Governor in each State of the Federation and the Permanent Secretary at the FCT.

While the Vice President chairs the internal National Border Commission, (the apex body for resolving border disputes), I believe that bold, fair-minded, just, courageous and patriotic leadership is required to settle border disputes without politicization and heightened tensions. Very often you find that where politicians play ethnic or religious games, it merely exacerbates otherwise straightforward issues, and may frequently result in violence and death.

I believe it is responsible leadership that can sit at the table with other leaders and agree to give and take, make concessions that are often difficult and be able to communicate the issues to their constituents and populace. It is that kind of courageous leadership the Law had in mind when those of us who are put into positions of responsibility with respect to border disputes are placed in those positions.

In that difficult but crucial enterprise, the Border Commission has a vital and sensitive role to play as an expert body, and as an honest and trustworthy broker. It is supposed to be balanced, which is why we have the Honourable Members of the Commission who are from all the 6 geo-political zones and they have introduced themselves already.

Because the Commission is a public resource, whose credibility in dispute resolution is fundamental, we all have a duty to support the Commission, but also to keep it honest and on its toes all the time, because the role of the Commission is central to everything we do in border dispute resolution.

So I hope this interaction will help the process of achieving some of these objectives. This meeting is not meant to review specific border disputes or issues otherwise we would not leave here till the end of the month. We have provided just for your information, a list of the current status of border disputes and the list of all border disputes.

The Director-General will take us through an overview of the structure of the Commission and how it does its work and the current state of affairs in general terms. I expect that after his presentation, we will have a robust discussion on the issues but focusing, if I may request of you, on suggestions on how to improve the work of the Commission.

Once again let me thank you for taking the time to attend this meeting and assure you that the Board of the Commission will give urgent and full attention to all recommendations that are made at this very important meeting.

Thank you very much.

MANDIPUTIN:
Thousands of protesters took to the streets in the early hours of Monday to protest what they termed the negative insinuations and propaganda against Northern Nigeria.

As they marched through Kaduna metropolis, the protesters condemned the insinuations doing the round that the ‘North is bleeding’ instead they shouted that ‘the North is not bleeding’

According to them, the region is going through healing process, adding that there were efforts by security agencies to tackle the various security challenges facing the region.

The convener of the protest under the auspices of Coalition of Northern Activists for Peace (CNAP), Kaduna State, Prince Zubairu Mukhtar, said the rally was organised in appreciation of the efforts of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and the security agencies in addressing the challenges that have bedeviled Northern Nigeria.

“The North has over time been on the spotlight with issues of insecurity, specifically banditry, terrorism and cyber propaganda. We all know for certain that the issues at stake require a multi-stakeholder approach, which is necessary considering the dynamics of the issues that have affected the socioeconomic well-being of the peaceful and loving people of Kaduna State and indeed Northern Nigeria.

“It is a known fact that the past 12 years have been challenging, especially with the havoc caused by the activities of the Boko Haram insurgent group and other militant organisations in states like Borno, Yobe, Katsina, Bauchi, Plateau and our dear Kaduna State.

“It is indeed a statement of fact that the actions of these criminal elements brought sorrow, tears and blood in a most barbaric and condemnable manner.

“As concerned stakeholders in Northern Nigeria and in kaduna State, we cannot feign ignorance to the issues affecting our state and the region, which by all indications are politically motivated.

“This is in cognizant that successive governments attempted to address the issues. However, their best wasn’t good enough, so much so that we feared that Armageddon had come.

“My comrades, Ladies and gentlemen of the press and the good people of kaduna State, we don’t need a soothsayer to tell us about the heavy economic losses that have risen due to the activities of non-state actors. We also do not need a prophet to say that hundreds of thousands of mothers and children have lost their lives in the carnage.

“At some point, we feared that peace would never return to the north. Our fears were brought about by the inability of those saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and properties that seemed handicapped for ethnic, social and political reasons.”

Ask those numskull if they understand the inscriptions on those banners they are holding, then you will know the real truth about the north is healing.
The same north that bandits slaughtered more than 200 people just few days ago, is the same north that is today healing... Who say the north shouldn't heal after all? Politics › Re: 2023: Why PDP Must Not Zone Nigeria’s Presidency To The South – Kwankwaso by Minime10(m): 6:42pm On Jan 10, 2022
blamingthedevil:
A former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has argued against the call for zoning the 2023 presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Southern part of Nigeria.

Mr Kwankwaso made his position known in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday night where he also spoke about several political concerns ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In his argument, the two-term governor of Kano State condemned the insistence of the Southern Governors Forum in July 2021 that the next president of the country must come from their region rather than what is best.

He considered the call by the governors and other leaders as an attempt to intimidate the northern region into relinquishing its right to contest the seat.

Mr Kwankwaso said the decision to contest should be based on strategy rather than mere clamour or sentiments.

With reference to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Kwankwaso, who is eyeing the 2023 presidential ticket of the PDP, said the party had produced more southern presidents than the north.

“You see many people are mixing what ordinarily shouldn’t come together at all. We have PDP, we have APC, we have APGA and we have many other parties today in this country. And the issue of where a party put his presidency or vice presidency is a matter of strategy.

“If you look at it from 1999, to date, or even after 2023, we have 16 years for PDP, eight years for APC. Now, in the 16 years of PDP, we had a situation where the presidency has been in the south for 14 years and only in the north for two years during the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua of blessed memory.

“Now we see some people, maybe because they don’t understand politics or they want to be mischievous, they keep on mixing the two issues of two political parties together. This PDP and APC are contestants in this game,” he said.

As it stands, neither the APC nor PDP has announced the zoning of its presidential ticket for next year’s election.

The reluctance of the two major parties in the country to do so has provoked speculations that they may throw the ticket open to all aspirants.

Speaking on speculations of his possible defection from PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Kwankwaso debunked the rumour and reiterated his commitment to ensure victory for his party in the 2023 polls.

In his explanation, he traced the genesis of the speculation to leave the PDP to the treatment meted out on him and his supporters during the party’s congress in Kaduna in 2021.

“As we speak, there is no plan for me to leave the PDP, to join APC, or any other party.

“Of course, there were issues which are very clear to almost everybody; that we had congress in April last year in Kaduna, which I felt and many of my supporters in the North-west and even beyond felt that I was not being treated well and Kano was not being treated the way it should be.

“And therefore, I believe that was the beginning of those issues to the extent that people thought because of that, we would leave the PDP for APC or any other party,” he said, while noting the reconciliatory efforts of the party leaders.

Allies turned rivals
When asked about his feud with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who was his deputy while in office, Mr Kwankwaso maintained a neutral tone.

However, without stating the real cause of their prolonged differences, Mr Kwankwaso chronicled his contributions to Mr Ganduje’s political growth.

He said Mr Ganduje never visited him since he assumed office as governor in 2015 until last December.

The governor, in December 2021, visited Mr Kwankwaso at his Bompai residence in Kano, over the death of his brother, Inuwa Kwankwaso.

The duo had worked together for years before falling out in 2015.

Mr Ganduje had served as Mr Kwankwaso’s deputy during his first and second terms in office. He also worked as a Special Adviser to the former governor when he was appointed as Minister of Defence in ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government.

As a sitting PDP governor, Mr Kwankwaso had joined the APC in 2014 and contested for the party’s presidential ticket in 2015 but lost to Mr Buhari.

He returned to PDP in 2018 and contested in its presidential primaries which he also lost to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

A "booming economy" must have a different meaning to you.

And about functional railway, remember that Goodluck Jonathan started the railway revolution in Nigeria which was why his administration started and finished the Abuja-Kaduna rail line. And awarded the Lagos-Ibadan rail line.

But let's assume the economy was truly booming and railway working...

Would you choose a booming economy and functional rail lines over your life?

Like, the hundreds of lives that are daily lost in this country does not trouble your mind, as long as economy is booming and rails are working?
Why are you giving the retarded numskull your attentionhuh
Don't you know that, the more you exchange comments with him over his gilberish of a post, the more you make him feel dignified thinking in his empty-headed, that his senseless post is attracting comments. Just ignored him and his post.
