I need romance gurus to help out with this -

I belong to the school of thought that practices friendship before relationship of any level.

Many a times I get them #cute ladies telling me they love me after each conversation and I usually get confused about what to give as response.

My fear is that -

1. Every lady expects a guy to be confident enough to say what they want, if I say " I love you too" won't it appear like she is in the lead? Or imagine why I never said so all the while.

2. Won't I appear frail and desperate to her by saying "I love you too" and /or similar gesture?

What is the best way to handle a situation like this? I mean if you don't intend acting like an asshole or loosing an inch of respect.

N/B I usually say "thank you" or keep mute at times.
