Poster, do this TODAY. this is not Nigeria and you actually have rights here. Dont let this drop. Include all the buzzwords. Threaten to go to the papers too. I do not think your "in-laws" are very nice people. I leave it up to you to sort how to proceed with them. Bestwishes and do let us know you get on Ralphlauren: So this salad master scam is still ongoing ?
The pot they use for the "demonstration" is not the same pot that is sold to you. You will be given an entirely new set of pots.
What your inlaw has done is pretty mean and just utter wickedness.
£4200 for stainless steel pots (yes, salad master is nothing but glorified stainless steel?
How much is Le Cruset (cast iron) pot set?
My Mrs has indulged their nonsense and sat through their presentation three different times and she hasn't budged.
Why would anyone buy stainless steel pots using finance or pay £4200?
I will suggest you lodge a formal complaint compliance@saladmaster.com and include keywords like pressure selling, vulnerability, no affordability checks, consumer duty, etc. I will also suggest you complain to the financial ombudsman service too. |

I know at the moment , seeing a GP is very very very hard. Why this is so is beyond the scope of this discussion. However , dear OP, a GP is the easiest least complicated way to get the help you need. The A/E is massively underequipped to provide mental healthcare of the non-emergent kind. I wouldn't start there unless its a mental health emergency. Lexusgs430: We don't even know the nature of her mental health challenge......
So you think the MHT, would not update her medical records (for all to see)......
Been sectioned, is actually a protective measure for some people.......
Having a record or losing one's life....... I know the option I would select......
Telling a Doctor porkies, gets you what you require, no blood test or MRI scan would suggest otherwise....... |

Those "keywords" , as you call them, will go into her permanent medical record. She may even get a section out of it and a trip to a mental hospital.Yippee ! When all she needs may be some medication or talking therapy the GP can arrange. Always a bad idea to lie to your doctor. Always. Lexusgs430: If she says the right things....... She would even receive 1:1 care .........😂

Probably not, if she makes it past triage which i doubt, she ll get seen by Psych Liaison. If no imminent threat to herself or others, she ll be discharged to the care of her GP or community mental health team. I would say Try your GP first. Private can cost up to £60/hr I hope you get through this alright. Lexusgs430: Or admit yourself to A&E........ Once you are diagnosed with a mental health challenge, you would be very quickly referred..........😂 |

What is on the BRP ? RESTRICTED work or NO work? With restricted work, you can work 100% but just in a particular industry. AgentXxx: They did that in the past but the council still maintains that only the student spouse is entitled to 25% even when it’s clearly stated on the dependent’s Brp that restricted work and no claim to public funds.
This is really the first time am hearing of a council being stubborn about this, the bankruptcy has probably gone into their head and just want to get money anyway.
With the evidence from their site and brp supporting no claim to public funds and restricted work, won’t they win the council if they eventually get charged to courts, Tbh, I wouldn’t want them to pay any dime because it’s so clear they shouldn’t be paying based on what is clear on their website.
Modified: They reached out to citizen’s advice and they also said they are not meant to pay. |

Money paid to the council. The councils fund some of the schools, police, care sector ,waste disposal, local roads , parks so a very important tax. Its paid monthly. Because its tied to the value of your property, some areas in town deemed more affluent pay more than others. ezegold4we: Goodday everyone,

"Recent immigrant" That is a self limiting misnomer and I encourage every legal immigrant to take advantage of every single legal opportunity this country offers. At the moment, Nigeria is sending its very best skilled and brightest to the UK as immigrants. Don't let anybody convince you that you are less just because you are new. I haven't let that stop me and you shouldn't either. In passing, i pay an outrageous amount in taxes. So if you are using that criteria, I still retain my audacity of equality. You can choose to relinquish yours, I will exercise mine fully. Zahra29: But why would a recent immigrant expect to receive the same benefits and rights as a citizen who's lived in the UK and paid taxes for many years and their parents also (in many cases). It's like expecting the British govt to expend the same energy rescuing a UK resident captured or in trouble in another country, when they can just about rescue their own citizens. When you have sworn allegiance to the King in a citizenship ceremony, then sure you should expect the exact same treatment as other citizens.
Would you be happy if immigrants from Ghana for example arrived nIgeria and received the same rights and benefits as yourself, a citizen who has lived in and contributed to the country in many ways?
The same thing would happen to a British citizen who emigrated to Australia - they would have to pay their IHS equivalent and wouldn't have access to the same benefits as Australians until they naturalise. |

I m really sorry you feel that way about the Government. You must have arrived the UK in the past 13 years. Labour are not exactly saints but they are 100% preferable on public services. Ask any teacher, doctor , police officer, lawyer how well those services functioned prior to 2010. Hopefully, we can get things back to normal. I wasnt here then as well but i read voraciously and can find ample evidence that conditions were much much better. Peerielass: While your labour is dealing with public schools, can they also devise a means to stop people from buying/renting houses in posh neighbourhood so they can be in ‘catchment’ for high performing comprehensive schools and also stop rich parents from tutoring their kids from from age 5 for 11plus exams leaving kids from poor backgrounds to slum it out in schools rated as inadequate. Those are the real actions that perpetuate inequality in the society.
Personally I don’t give a toss who’s in power be it the tories or labours or the SNP for we Scots. They are all the same and their only agenda is to screw me over. |

I m not sure how to reply this. You seem a bit mixed up. Are you OK? You sound stressed Oggg: Please let us face our town-hall. Why have you not required equality from townhall where some tribes feel they are superior to the next? You have not stood on the side of equality for that one ooo for the taxes you previously paid to townhall is here you are shouting. Like? Let one Ghanaian come to Nigeria and make this statement and your blood will boil. Easy thing to stand on the saint-ish side on a faceless blog. You have the audacity of equality?? Really? Please when next you land at Heathrow go and join the queue of those with British passports or Canadian and USA passports. When you get to the top of the queue tell them you have equality because you pay taxes and should be allowed to use the E-gate because of your taxes. You are very bold. As long as you can’t do that, go find seat siddon somewhere abeg and allow the government do what they feel is best for their country. If you can’t take the heat you simply get out of the kitchen! Look around at the devastation wrought by the Tories and ask yourself " how can they not?". In the past , state school graduates still did very well and got into elite universities. After 13 years of Tory rule, its all desolation as far as the eyes can see. With new funding , state schools can become standard again and children who attend them can recieve worldclass education like their public school peers. This is the Finland model which has worked wonders. Peerielass: Let’s not count our chickens before they hatch. They will need to win the elections first. |

You are also allowed to march and protest as you like. That is until you are told to disperse. You dont have to be a good little citizen anymore. You can and should resist unjust government policies. Who protests at Buckingham Palace? They are about as useful as chocolate teapots. Viruses: Don't mind them.

The Public School System plays a huge role in perpetuating inequality in the UK.Labour will find the money by taxing the heck out of the rich. Oh and clawing back our PPE money among other things. The Public Schools can claim back whatever they like, it ll still be a net profit for the government. I 100% welcome this tax and urge parents to prepare for it. Peerielass: They are subsiding state education by giving up their spaces. When your Labour Party eventually comes into power and decide to charge VAT on private schools, the elites will still be ok but the middle income earners who are just managing to afford private education for their kids will be priced out. It’s not for you or me to say whether private education is a luxury or not. Some people would argue that university education is a luxury too.
Assuming 20% out of the 25% of students who are privately educated now decide to enrol en masse in state schools which are already oversubscribed and bursting at the seams, where will Keir Stammer find the money to support the state schools? Is he going to build more schools to absorb the kids that have left the private sector? How about staffing?
As for your second question, I work in taxation so understand VAT very well. You can do a bit of research for yourself. The HMRC website below is a good starting point.

Not living in Nigeria or paying taxes has never stopped their majestys government from meddling in Nigerian affairs has it? Oggg: Did they tie any of you rope to stay in this country?? What is it every single day? Leave na. No. Let the government of the country run their country. No. This is becoming annoying. Don’t even bother mentioning me because I am ready for any of you. I beg to differ. Parents with Children in Public Schools do not subsidise anything more than people who do not have children. VAT will go towards equipping the state schools.why should any British child be disadvantaged in basic education because parents earn less? If you want a fee paying school which is a privilege, you pay for the privilege. Simples. Your second point is very interesting because i haven't heard it anywhere else apart from this thread. Is it possible to share your source please? Thank you Peerielass: Listen to yourself, you want them to charge VAT on tuition fees for parents who are already subsidising other people’s education by not taking up places in state schools? But you cry wolf when the same government attempts to tax you twice through IHS. Anyway this is Labour’s policy and not the Tories. What they have forgotten or failed to consider is that they can’t charge VAT on one type of education and leave the other. University education will also be vatable unless of course they decide to rewrite the entire VAT manual. VAT is not charged on education in any EU country.
Secondly, I’m not sure how much you know about VAT, by charging VAT to private schools those schools will now become eligible to reclaim input VAT on all their purchases and capital expenditure, in fact they can reclaim VAT on expenditure incurred in the past 7 years which will negate the so called revenue the government is trying to generate from the VAT charges. |

What bumper salary? NHS workers have been striking since last year over pay and working salaries. You must be having a laugh. This Stupeed Tory government must make up its mind as to whether immigrants are an asset to the UK or not? How come it cannot pay its own bills without overtaxing immigrants. Surprisingly, its doing everything it can to reduce immigration despite not having enough people to man its industries. Just chasing its own tail , really. Visionlessly. Cannot wait for a General Election. koonbey: Thanks for raising the bolded. It’s amusing because nobody of the many people working in the NHS or related to people who are; here, mentioned their bumper salaries last month and increased salaries despite their skin colour, but it’s IHS fee that is apparently a war on black and brown people and also the foundation of the UK economy, according to Nairaland economists.

Why has it become this expensive, is it because of increased demand.
