The dial tone was beginning grate Seyifunmi's nerves. It soon gave way to what was already annoying her - the female, automated operator voice saying, ' the subscriber you are trying to call is not answering.' She hung up and tried to video call him again. The call was picked on the second ring. Her relief and joy at the call being picked gave way to surprise and mild irritation.

"Hi, Seyifunmi," Tinu greeted with a cheery smile.

"Hi, Tinu," Seyifunmi answered with mock excitement. She wasn't exactly glad to see Tinu now. Not when she had been dialing Délé's numbers for close to a quarter hour. Apparently, he was too busy to pick her call himself.

And…

Seyifunmi's eyes strained at the phone.

Were those Tinu's nipples straining through her camisole?

Horror filled Seyifunmi's mind as she wondered if Tinu strutted around braless with Dele around.

"How are you doing?" Tinu asked as she slid off the bed.

She was on the bed? Somebody kill me!

Seyifunmi swallowed the bile in her throat and the real response she wanted to give to that question. She widened her smile and said, "I'm fine. How about you the kids?"

"We're all fine."

The sound of Délé's laughter and groans filled the background.

"Surrender!" She heard her boyfriend's voice call in a playful baritone.

"Never," The children chorused their groan.

A pang of jealousy bit her. She had been trying to get through to him for the past quarter hour and he didn't pick her calls because he was playing with his children. Didn't he even care that she might have been in trouble or in desperate need of his help?

Evidently, she faded into the background when it came to his children.

"Seems y'all are having fun there." She said, trying to mask her jealousy.

Tinu's laughter was followed by a feminine squeal, most likely from Tomini.

"Dele, don't wound my children for me." Tinu turned to yell at Dele.

"Mummy, come and help us defeat D.D." Tomini squealed, laughing.

In that moment, Seyifunmi felt like an outsider, an interloper, the third leg and an intruder into a happy family.



This teaser is dedicated to my old time friend -Chyetta the Weirdette. Babe, you're amazeballs and even if you're not here with me, I love you and wish you a happy birthday in advance. I hope you find the will to write again.
