Nairaland GeneralWhat Is Your Funniest Work Related Experience by Missssii(op):
Hello my gorgeous fellow nairalanders!

I had a funny conversation with a friend tonight about her job switch. I knew things were dramatic at her former place of work but didn’t know she had it that colorful! Let me share one that got me in stitches!

Her male boss was getting married and ofcourse, invited the entire office. It was a small firm she worked in and in all, they weren’t up to 8 staff so it wasn’t a big deal for everyone to get an invite.

Her boss told them that there would be an aso ebi (the notorious uniform wedding guests are pressured to buy) and they informed him that they’ll keep him posted on purchase. At the end of the month, each staff, gateman (who also doubled as the office assistant and sometimes cleaner) inclusive, got a debit of N15,000! On enquiry, her boss told them it went to the purchase of the aso ebi. These were people who the highest earner there was N60,000. They were rightfully mad at him but couldn’t challenge their boss so they kept quiet.

They waited for weeks to see the aso ebi but it wasn’t forthcoming. When he eventually brought his aso ebi to the office a week to the wedding, it was barely 3 yards of the ugliest Ankara and she swore the Ankara wouldn’t cost more than 3,000 in the market. This upset them a lot because they felt cheated and cornered by their boss. They initially planned to get him a nice blender as a wedding gift but no one was willing to part with their money anymore. Instead they bought a set of cute cheap ceramic plates to present to the couple on the wedding day.

On the wedding day, they got a bus and arrived at the venue in their overpriced Ankara and discovered they were the only ones wearing it. Other guests were in lace. Apparently, they discovered later that the couple had sold out on the actual aso ebis but because their boss didn’t want to return their money, he personally bought Ankara from a lady close to their office and shared it to them. Even their aso oke was different.

Because they stuck out like a sore thumb, they were snubbed at the wedding and given a table close to the back of the hall. They were served hot coke and porridge and were falsely informed that jollof had finished. But they could see steaming plates of rice cat walking over their heads to people who wore the actual aso ebi for the bride and groom.

While the others decided to sit back and grumble, my friend and their office manager decided to greet their boss on behalf of the employees. When they got to him, he thanked them and asked after the others. They informed him diplomatically that to look after bags and the table, they were the delegates on behalf of others. Her boss thanked them and they went back to the table.

Time came to dance and spray the couple and my friend and a few of her colleagues gathered their strength to dance with them. During the dancing and spraying, the office gateman was caught picking some crisps N200 notes from the floor and was disgraced out of the wedding hall.

It was especially worse for them as their office gateman during the process of being escorted out asked to make a quick stop at their table to pick up his nylon. Inside the nylon was a change of clothes, face cap, earphones, a glass bottle of hot coke and a piece of fried meat poorly wrapped in tissue paper. Every saw that he was wearing the same ugly Ankara as they did and treated them like lepers. Word got round that they were employees of the groom making it a million times worse.

Their boss had his huge eyes ready to pop out of their sockets when he discovered that one of his employees was escorted out of the wedding for stealing.

They made up their minds to leave and seriously scolded the gateman who was waiting patiently for them in the bus they chartered. The gateman protested that what was N2,400 compared to the N15,000 that was deducted from his salary of N20,000. He felt no remorse and told them that he planned to pick a sum equal to the cost of the aso ebi. It made a bit of sense to everyone but they still admonished him that he did not apply discretion with his actions. They also told him that he could have left the nylon in the bus instead of carrying all that into the venue. The gateman could careless and seemed more upset that he couldn’t complete his mission.

Fast forward a week after the wedding their boss comes in after his honey moon and calls an office meeting. He thanked them all for their presence and gave each of them, gateman included a plastic tray as their wedding souvenir. My friend and the office manger got a mug in addition to the tray. At the end of the month everyone was paid their salary except the gateman.

There are a few others I found hilarious that I may share later. Like when they were always seeing a dead bird in front of their office until they discovered the fxckery behind it.

Please I’ll like to read from everyone here. This will be my second thread.

Thank you!

As a political leader holding high PUBLIC office, you don't need anybody to address you 'politely' in order for you to get the message and do the right thing.

If you too like respect and dignity, why bring your miserable self out for public service? It is ridiculous. Stay in your house quietly and eat the respect that your children and other family members would serve you. We are talking about a country with serious problems. You brought yourself out to enjoy the perks of public office.... Long convoys of high end Mercedes cars, the presidential villa, and billions of naira worth of privileges and yet you dare talk about respect. God punish you there. Idiots.

If you can't solve the obvious problems on ground. If you can't think up workable solutions and meet the yearnings of millions of rightfully angry and frustrated citizens then GET THE HELL OUT OF PUBLIC OFFICE AND RETIRE TO YOUR VILLAGE. I hate this annoying sense of entitlement... You're not doing anybody a favour by being a public office holder. Don't tell me about polite engagement. You’re absolutely right! It just goes to show that charity doesn’t begin from the home for most people. No one deserves to be brutalized by the police because of their sexual orientation. Can they be prosecuted for such acts? Yes (the rationality behind putting someone who declares affection for same gender in a jail with only same gender for years as rehabilitation/punishment is even a topic for another day). Should they be brutalized for it? No. That’s all but the holy nwejes that are neck deep in pornography, adultery and fornication will skin you alive for thinking this way.

RomanceRe: The Multi-billion Naira Sex Industry In Lagos And Its Invisible Players by Missssii:
uche87:
Akudo earns a salary of less than N85,000 in a month at a struggling company in Lagos. The sole proprietor of the medium-scale enterprise had considered closing down the firm times without number due to its slow pace of growth. For years, he has refused to increase the salary of the busty young lady with light skin and alluring curves which she never fails to show off in tight clothes. She also has no chance of being promoted in any way. The 24-year-old doesn't care about her career. Her job as a front desk officer is just a front for another 'business' which brings the cash. She runs a company within her company and that firm is between her legs. Most of her 'customers' are married men and young internet fraudsters popularly called 'Yahoo Boys'.

She has an active account on Instagram and this is like her own link to the world. It's difficult to understand what she is up to. You need to look closely. Akudo uploads pictures like every normal girl. She makes sure a large chunk of her cleavage is showing, her hips are also exposed out of her short dresses and she poses in a way that her backside is also captured. The pictures are laced with motivational quotes, bible verses and appreciation of God. These are regular innocent pictures we see every day on social media but there is more to them. They are posted as baits with intentions. The 'goods and services' are not conspicuously displayed in the black market but the buyers understand the signals. Once they see them, they make a move and a moneyed deal is sealed like a capital project. Not all ladies are as discreet as Akudo. Others post provocative pictures, twerk in videos, flaunt tattoos, touch on x-rated topics just to tell the outside world they are strictly open for business.

Back to Akudo, she simply goes to popular social media pages on Instagram to make harmless comments. Some might be lengthy, others might be so brief. These comments are for the visibility of her page. Interested buyers who are mostly male folks scroll through the comment section of popular social media pages not just to gauge the opinions of people about issues and incidents, but to look out for people like Akudo. After checking her profile and being satisfied with her pictures, he respectfully sends a message. Akudo initially acts decent but shows her true colours as time goes on. It might be a one-off deal in which they meet at a hotel and the man pays a sizeable amount of money and sex is transacted or a contract in which he becomes the 'friend' Akudo. He constantly helps her out with common material needs while they regularly meet for sex when the need arises. Akudo in turn calls the man her 'best friend, mentor, uncle, zaddy or ex'. When you hear these terms, you need to look deeper.

The business has been fine for Akudo. She never touches her monthly salaries. She drives a 2010 model of Lexus ES 350 saloon car which arrived during the coronavirus pandemic when millions of Nigerians lost their jobs and others took pay-cuts. She attributes her 'success' to God all the time.

Akudo is not alone. Life is tough in Nigeria and maybe tougher in Lagos. It is easy to become homeless because the well-paying jobs are scarce and the house rents keep going up like it wants to explore the heavens. Since Nigerians never share their pains but gains, so that they wouldn't be mocked or regarded as unfortunate in life, the young ladies secretly start to use what they have to get what they want.

How do you explain a situation whereby a lady who earns just N50,000 per month, lives on the mainland and works on the Island, and then easily affords the latest iPhone with other ostentatious belongings. She goes on social media every weekend to share photos of her visitations to swanky restaurants, eating exotic meals and cooling off at 5-Star hotels. These 'online marketers' are always in a hurry to show the world they are 'balling'. It's like they need to convince an imaginary competitor out there.

For ladies who want a bigger chunk of the monies that circulate in the untaxed sex industry in Lagos, they crave for more visibility. They join the entertainment industry where they go into modelling, presentations, reality shows and mostly acting. The big boys stalk the entertainment industry, which is like the 'more you look, the less you see'. In the entertainment industry, you need to look successful to gather momentum. Since you can't engage in internet scam like the male players, you will crawl to the politicians, business tycoons, drug barons and others making easy money, to shore up your bank accounts, so that you can look successful and advance your career.

Since the outbreak of coronavirus globally, the local film industry has taken a hit. It has almost closed down. But this setback hasn't stopped the glory of actresses who have no known businesses or reasonable endorsement deals. They have been flaunting new SUVs on social media as well as newly-acquired houses. The story is the opposite for the men who most times survive on the benevolence of well-meaning Nigerians. Who have the male actors offended? Are they not serving a 'living God'?

Most of the most talented and hard-working male actors only grab the headlines when they engage in crowdfunding to offset medical bills.

With the advancement in information technology and widespread usage of smartphones, social networks have been springing up aside from the major ones like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Most young ladies discreetly join them to open business profiles where they transact sex at affordable rates. Most of them are just normal people that can never be suspected to be indulging in such. All you need to simply do is chat them up, agree on a fee, she takes your address and comes down easily using one of the ride-hailing companies. Investigations show sex services are charged according to durations and add-ons. You either go for 'short time' which is a round or two within two hours or so. Those with enough cash opt for 'long rest' which is fixed over the night with about three rounds or more guaranteed, according to the gas in your tank.

The story of this industry can't be told in one article. It is far bigger than imagined. The players are invisible. It is condemned by both participants. Nobody likes to admit it exists but they will always run there for help when the body calls for it. It's like a hospital with numerous patients in emergency wards. It's a multi-billion naira industry without exaggerations. It has changed lives. Many have bought cars, careers, houses, established businesses through this industry. It is called the oldest profession in the world. It is not new, just that the trends are changing. Every young lady seems to be eyeing the sector with a plan to join and support herself. Greed, peer pressure and economic hardship drive the informal industry.

How much is Nigeria's debt again? N31 trillion I guess. If President Muhammadu Buhari decides to track the transactions in the industry with the sole aim to collect taxes, he will repay Nigeria's debts under a period of 16 months, and I mean it.

By Osayimwen Osahon George

Source: http://www.villagetowncrier.com/2020/09/the-multi-billion-naira-sex-industry-in.html
This article is a well written piece of ignorance, jealousy and bias.

The poorly concealed insinuation that the seemingly rich female actors are engaged in prostitution is very ignorant. The writer went a step further to compare them with their male counterparts who he referred to as “talented and hardworking”. What an ignorant and judgmental piece of cr*p.

Male actors such as RMD, Osita Iheme, Ramsey Noah, Kanayo, Mike Ezerounye, Michael Godson, Desmond Elliot, Alex Ekubo and the list goes on, all drive flashy cars, own properties and go on vacations. Never have I seen these men be accused of busting it open for pay.

I will never deny that the entertainment industry has a lot of heterosexual and homosexual sex trade scandals rocking it but to centre prostitution around just the women is very ignorant and unfair.

Men are actively selling themselves as gigolos to men and women but Mr Osahon did not consider it sufficient prostitution to put into his article. He even went as far as saying every young lady (his daughters included by implication) seems to be eying prostitution. I really wonder which part of Gomorrah he rented his house.

It is a shame that a grown man will be so interested with how women use their bodies to the point of asking the government to tax them when prostitution remains illegal in Nigeria.

I do not support prostitution but I’m very irritated with how biased a lot of men and women are about the sex trade industry. Prostitution is not exclusive to women. Not all flashy women are prostitutes. Not all successful actresses are prostitutes. Not all good looking successful women are prostitutes. Let that sink in.

Assuming you are married to a man who works as self employed selling some wholesale items that fetch him 70k every month and you have three kids with him.

Meanwhile you the wife work in a private institution earning 60k as well as selling things online that fetch very little like 10k to 15k everymonth.

So you have adviced him to get something else doing to augment your joint income because the money both of you make is barely enough for both of you and three children. You suggest you both need to add more sources of income to your present jobs to move ahead in life and advance, send your children to better schools, maybe build a house, to just upgrade yourselves generally.

So after suggesting different jobs for him he refused to do anything else except his wholesale business because he believes one day he will suddenly make it big from selling his market.

You give up and start your own third business which is part time catering and start making some considerable amount of money from it so you buy new clothes, shoes, nice snacks for your kids from time to time.

Your husband sees all this and tells you to also buy gifts for him from your 'plenty' money. Tells you to not buy new things for only your kids but you should buy also add his own.

How will you react please?

This isn't a made up story please. It's very true, I just want to know if the way I responded was reasonable or if I was wrong.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought the point of starting a third business was to have enough money to secure the future. What’s with the gifts and nice things? That money should be saved and be frugally spent to ensure you both have enough for a rainy day.

I’m very skeptical about a man who is fine with manning just one business but wants “gifts” from his wife’s third stream of income. That’s very off and unmotivated. I personally will not be happy running three businesses when we can both manage five or even six. Nigeria is too tough to not diversify funds and hustle at every given opportunity.

I love it when couples build together and I’ll suggest you both sit down and put that money in a place where you both can not access it for now. So that it can be used for a building project for the family or the ever increasing cost of education for the kids. Also, speak calmly and let him know you believe in him but he needs to try out another business in addition to his own. You can tell him Dangote produces salt, juice and cement at the same time. Don’t be confrontational but be loving and firm.

This is my opinion which you are very free to discard.

Third, we are Nigerians, most of us prefer to sit and punch at our keyboards behind the walls of internet...

Thank you.

I don’t agree she deserves bashing about her sexual activity. Like I tell my friends, if Erica or her partner were my sibling, I’d be very mad at either of them for not applying discretion in certain matters. Simply because these tags have a sneaky way of tainting our professional reputation. I can’t do what they did but that gives me no right to call either of them an olosho or prostitute. It’s just very immature and downright hypocritical.

If she’s being insulted for her uncontrolled and vile utterances I’ll be very zen about it. But they’re really insulting her for having intercourses with her partner which is just very hypocritical and unnecessary. It also worries me greatly that majority of those bashing and degrading her are doing it because she rejected another guy they liked. What sort of inferiority complex and deep rooted insecurities will lead a sane person to hate Erica for her choice of partner?

This is not an endorsement of immorality for any gender but just wondering when we will get to a point where we can be more mature and rational about certain things.

Olosho, you're not good. Stop pretending.
I am not a fan of the BBN series but please, educate me. Did Erica have a transaction with her partner before having sexual relations him? If she charged nothing and simply was attracted to him, how exactly is she a prostitute? Why exactly are you slut shaming her for the same thing you may probably do? Does it make you feel like a bigger man? Or it’s some form of ego trip to speak carelessly on the internet because you can and will not be held accountable? You truly need to do some growing up and be a better person.

It amuses me to see people shame others for the very same act they may be engaged in and may even be paying for. Her lack of decorum and self control when reacting to situations was terrible but on no account should anyone slut shame Erica. It’s childish and hypocritical.

But this people don't have the fear of God, how do you sleep on your wedding night when you know the money used for it was stolen.
Worse than just stolen. They collected peanuts to literally bankrupt Nigeria.

An in-depth study into the reason for corruption in Nigeria needs to be carried out. Because something is fundamentally wrong somewhere.

My bad. SDK is Stella Dimoko’s blog. There used to be a popular blog visitor with your moniker on there.
FashionRe: Nigerian Man Harasses Nigerian Lady For Wearing A Short Dress Abroad by Missssii: 10:09pm On Sep 03, 2020

What the lady did is immoral what the man did is illegal especially videoing one against their wish that's huge privacy intrusion

The lady keep adjusting the cloth as if she is unaware of the rags she is wearing

On the man part, even if you will advice unsolicited you have no right to record, as the lady rightly said if it's a white lady will the guy has the audacity to record
The minute Nigerians learn the difference between immorality and illegality, the safer our country will be.
