EoD... This encapsulates it....

As for that false dollar scarcity theory, it was a knee jerk reaction to prevent the "beneficiaries" of the election dollar torrential rainfall/flooding from being able to do wire transfer out of the country!!!

It wasn't to create a false naira appreciation... Bank rate held steady at 197-199, why then would any rational + logical being swallow that theoryhuh

Nigerians however are criminal minded & they either kept them in safes or septic tanks, they also got couriers to travel with out of the country with cash...

*mic drop* ... I wan do vigil for oil price to rise cheesy ..cos without it, na OYO for naira stability & diversification of our economy.!

@ TonyeBarcanista ...

Since you are adamant about Putting the blame on Buhari & Emefiele, you are free to, cool if that's what suits you but I just need you to indulge me & answer two question...

1.How long can we keep financing out import dependent lifestyle perpetually without judgement day finally dawning on us as a nation??

2. Who & what will you direct the blame for Saudi, UAE, Venezuela, Angola etc current economic woes to ?

LRNZH ... My takeaway from this debate is that the IB is truly a "Lucky" fellow, he created a giant & slippery clusterbleep & got out just in time before its implosion...

If the oil price decline had started in July 2013 & not 2014, OP here wouldn't be penning this rumination of his selective thought process.

Don't be surprised, he doesn't understand that not everything can be gleaned from blogs/online, some things need real life experiences / convos...

I don't think anyone can be worse than Iweala. In our history she is the Finance Minister that has received the most revenue and strangely the one who borrowed the most so add her borrowing to oil revenue she has had the most money to spend .What do we have to show for it? Oil price dropped and everything collapsed.

She received 52% of total revenue from Federation account and spent it all and blamed the governors for that because they rightly insisted on their share which was less that 30%
Why did she not save the FG share?
Just get ready for anonimi's forro assault for this ya kweshion.... cheesy cheesy

According to his pictoral ads, Amaechi (+ other govs help) after getting the states share of the ECA, bewitched the IB (federal share) & ensured that all the years of plenty didn't translate into better living for Nigerians...

Boss13:
The process of extracting leather from animal hides is the same. Leather is leather. The difference is manufacturing process. Which can be sorted out by providing adequate finance for the Aba shoemakers.

Also, the names you called are brand names. People patronizing them are paying a premium price for the brand because they want to differentiate themselves. There is nothing so special with the Gucci or Hermes Bag, just the brand and I must admit they have leverage and can employ creative designers into their studio.
Boss, try & comprehend my points before rushing to fault my argument....

There is nothing like all leather are the same..

Capitalists all over the world on their own source for start up "capital"/ "resources" & any profit (-tax) that accrues to them is entirely theirs , it is not the responsibility of the state(s), all the state can do is just provide favourable biz conditions... e.g oplace heavy tax on imported shoes.

No matter how cheaply the leather was procured, a top quality handbag can't be bought for 10k... The designer bags cost upwards of 200k+ & I only used them as illustration cos ladies are carrying around 6k "chanel" bags & you can't tell them nothing despite the glaring bags of errors they are carryoing around (Pun intended smiley) ....

No matter how we try to slice & dice it, a good Italian shoe (not brand name Fendi, Feraggamo, just regular good quality) won't sell for 5k while 10k won't get anyone a good handbag either.....

Try & digest my point before picking holes... thx.

Cc elxandre .. nice point, thx .. have you watched leather goods production process as well? I have, it's pure craftmanship..

I'm talking real Italian leather not regular high streets shoes...the argument is not about quality, it's the name & catchet "ITALIAN" made.. dazall.

I dont know why people quote & comment without full understanding of the context!!

Nothing is wrong with 3k shoes, I buy knockabout slippers of 2k but do you really believe genuine Italian leather shoes could ever retail at even 10k?

Thought the aim was to make the country wholy tuned to made in Nigeria rice & not sneak in foreign rice & bag under the cover of darkness

i don't care about what you watched online ok. All i care/know is that there was a significant increase in rice production in nigeria. But since you said i should not mention it, so be it.
You won't care because you don't want to see evidence the Ebonyi local rice producers gave to bust the misrepresentation of Hero concerning increase in local production boost, & the smoke & mirror it was, pls try and find it to watch, Ebonyi people are SEners , they won't sell anti Hero propaganda..

i. What was the situation of power and it infrastruct before 2010? How was it at the end of 2014? Jonathan made a great impact on the power sector where more than $6billion was spent on power infrastruction alone.
Be honest, did the 6bn translate to improvement in power? There is a difference between making an investment & the expectation of the return on investments...

ii. Between 2005-2010 what was the situation of our refinaries? How is it today?
Some of us have a very short memory to forget that the functioning refinary now was revived by jonathan which can to service under the present administration...
Refineries? Issokay but We still import 70% of PMS today..
if you want to defend buhari with this $30 per/barrel you should tell us or you spare us with this know excuse of $30 thank you.
Tribal bias is not a bad thing but it is dangerous when it makes us totally incapable of being objective, Do pure water factories make the same amount of sale they do during rainy season as they do in extreme heat/dry season... Read & do research about same things , it won't likely change your position but would change your understanding of how things work & are supposed to be.

We are clearly on opposite sides with different sentiments , so it's best to let go & not drag further, so let's agree to disagree, Thx. .

Nigerian leaders are all failures including buhari. For almost one year now all we have been hearing is arrest, recovered and unnecessary distraction from buhari lead administration with no exact direction or progress that seem to right the apc self acclaimed wrongs by Dr jonathan adminstration.
I sincerely didn't get the arrangement of words in the first paragraph but I'm going to assume i have an idea & ask you a question ? Also posit (You don't need to be an economics guru, just use commonsense & give it a shot) how Nigeria is supposed to fare with a 30$ oil price (bearing in mind we produce nothing worthwhile & we 90% import dependent ) when the population far exceeds the income + the state of the Nation's infrastructures.... The Jonathan's government sold oil for 100$+ for a couple of years & all these got done...

1. The perpetual power problem was sorted & we now have at least "25hrs" of supply ,

2. The comatose Manufacturing sector got a new lease of life, factories are springing up left right & center & we presently produce all we need & even are exporting sef.

3. The CBN intervened & banks now give farmers loan at 5% flat with flexible payment schedule

4.The East got 2nd Niger Bridge..Lag-IB road fixed as well.

5. The whole country is now accessible by rail

6. Otuoke is now a tourist attraction....

The IB's govt was the best thing to happen to Nigerians, see as he "transformed" Nigeria !!!!

Lame people can blame PMB as much as they like but it won't distract Sane & Patriotic Nigerians from deducing that the two unrelated events of

1. Driving Bullion Vans into CBN to pack FX to distribute to party members for an undeserved term elongation undecided

&

2.The catastrophic fall of global oil price +glut with no reserve in place to speak of +Zero infrastructure in place to cushion the effects nor any other commodity to bring in the needed funds to run the country are responsible for the dire economic straits the country is presently facing....

Not lliking PMB's tribe, calling another set betrayers doesn't negate the fact that the IB can't point to one tangible progress Otuoke, Bayelsa or Nigeria made under him which is why he and his nest of killers party self destructed & crashed at the polls..

However sentiments , bad belle & religious bias are allowed.. People need something to soothe their souls. smiley
