Hello everyone, To those still trying to send me private messages, please stop. I delete the notifications immediately I receive them. I know there are many undercover agents on this thread but I am not one of them. Also, we have mentioned many times that people should not send private messages so they don't end up getting scammed. The fact that I'm giving you advice here doesn't mean I cannot be a fraudulent agent. Please ask your questions here and I will answer them |
Harkynkunle: I got ur point justi...And I Neva said am gonna be threading on d@ part... I guess u got mai question a bit wrong..Mai question is d@... do u mean all job agents in u.a.e are fraudster....?...Reason Y am asking is d@ I've witnessed some forumites who had travelled 2 u.a.e just 2 secure a job, hence they came back home with all their hopes dashed (many didn't employ d service of an agent)..Am asking just for the sake of knowing more...not as if I wanna subscribe 2 d@Basically, the only kind of job you can get through an agent is mostly menial labour. Also, those kind of jobs are usually accompanied with lots of hardship and are never guaranteed. You can loose it at any time. That is why we advise against using agents because they do not tell the truth. Most times, they even lie about it. They promise to get you that job and abscond with your money. |
uyigue1: Hello pals thanks for your good work here, am really impressed...........................i have 3 questions pls about Qatar visa is it possible for someone to get a good job over there, secondly is it possible to marry a Qatari citizen over there and get paper thirdly how is social life over there and is it possible to cross to any Asia country later in future as i plan and how is their attitude towards foreign nationals.thanksLol, you obviously don't know anything about these kind of countries. Smh . Please focus on getting a job and forget about immigration fraud. ![]() |
shacore: Thanks monchouchou, I could start as an entry level employee right? Even though I don't have much experience. Am hopeful to gain enough experience for better benefit/job or promotion. And also would love to know how safe and reliable is it to use recruitment agencies in UAE. Thanks for ur response. I gladly appreciate. Please note that while it is possible, I am stressing the fact that it is not easy to come by such jobs. Most companies prefer employing those who already have work experience, especially GCC experience. Also, why should they train someone from another nationality when they have their own people everywhere (Indian and Arab mentality). Not trying to discourage you, but I just want you to fully understand what you are about to enter. As for recruitment agencies, you just have to be careful, especially when they start asking you to pay for one thing or other. |
Olayinkaoj: Thanks a lotYou're welcome ![]() |
omoteamac: lolsss...dats incredible...but mmaybe she s ggot ample GCC experience...lol, park well jor ![]() |
omoteamac: kai...4000AED?..monchou...please tell me thats a joke!!lol, why would I joke/lie? It all depends on the company you are working for and lucky for her the company is owned by Italians, so she is seriously flexing ![]() |
Donxavier: Hmmm, okay. So the koko is to get on ground and look for job. The type of visa you get will depend on the type of job I suppose. Are there recruitment agencies that specialise in getting grad/associate roles? There are many recruitment agencies in the U.A.E. Do a search on google. |
Donxavier: Really. You mean all employers hold the passport of foreign nationals working with them. Not just having a photocopy or somethingNot all. I am with my passport and I am waiting for the day my employer will ask me for it….hell will freeze over before I release it lolBut seriously, Justi4jesu is right. Most times its the lower level employees that have their passports taken especially those that can easily be bossed around. I think it is actually illegal for an employer to hold the passport. |
justi4jesu: When him see the labour job, na still here him go come ask us how to get him passport to come back to Nigeria. lolLol, exactly!! Labour jobs here is not like back home in naija oh! |
Olayinkaoj: Sirs/ma,First of all, edit your original post and remove your contact details before just wise helps you to remove them ![]() 1. The readily available jobs in Dubai are the same as in other parts of the world. These are menial jobs (security, construction workers, maids, office boys, etc) 2. Can't really say. Some security jobs pay 2,000 AED, some pay less than 1,000 AED and I also know a lady working as a sales girl earning about 4,000 AED. (do the conversion yourself biko )3. Again, no one can determine this. Even these jobs that are supposedly easy to get are not just laying about waiting for someone to come and pick them up. You have to network and pray and apply a lot too. There are Pakistanis and Bangladeshi more than willing to do these menial jobs for half the salary the average Nigerian man will want 4. Someone coming to hustle should not be concerned about the type of Visa but should concentrate on getting a good job offer. Not just accept anything at the mention of Freezone company or reject anything at the mention of "labour" zone. 5. Please do not be deperate. It is desperation that pushes people to accept any kind of job and then later they start regretting and complaining. Do not take it as a do or die affair. Also, take a week to read through the whole thread. Everything you want to know has been mentioned repeatedly. |
shacore: Pls house, am graduate of computer engineering, I have one year Experience in web design and other IT related field. Is it possible to get a well paying job in the IT industry have tried applying online but to no avail. Wud like to come over and try my luck. I wud apprciate ur advice..thanks.Anything is possible but honestly it will not be easy. There are many indians and Chinese in Dubai and they excel in your field. Also, you do not have a lot of experience. |
Donxavier: Aight, would get in touch when am on ground. Can you stand for the free zone Visa? Please don't get confused. Freezone visa is not something that can be "applied" for. There are Freezone companies in Dubai. These companies are established under special laws and do not need to have a local Emirati partner, are restricted in the kind of business they can do, etc. Persons employed by such companies have free zone employment visas. Therefore, before you can have a "free zone visa", you have to be employed by such a company or you set up a free zone company yourself(more for investors and not job seekers). |
drumma: I kuku understand you dear… its not easy and it can be annoying but what can one do…. we will always be our brothers keeper…..Same old same old. Heat is reducing gradually. |
drumma: Sweet heart u didnt mention it to him u did to me.... Be patient with people on here they just need proper advice.... Thanks to our government for wanting us to wanna move yonderLol, didn't know I was harsh. I know I mentioned it to you but the information is there for everyone to read.... if we keep going back and forth on the same issues the thread will remain stagnant. |
Donxavier I mentioned this before. Will you rent a house sight unseen in lagos or ph or abuja? Will you not atleast see the place you want to rent first or atleast send a trusted person to look at it for you? In Dubai the motto is trust no one as even family members can betray you talk more of unknown people you meet online. Budget funds for atleast a week stay in a cheap hotel in dubai. When you arrive you can start sourcing for shared accomodation. They are advertised everyday in the dailies and also online on dubbizle. justi4jesu has posted the link above. Go through the link and have a clear and unbiased opinion of how much it costs to rent accommodations in different areas of Dubai. |
Please note that Free zone visa is not the all important saviour or green card to the uae. There are people on free zone visas weeping and gnashing their teeth and people not on free zone visas that are living well. The only reason free zone is preferred is that you can easily change jobs without attracting bans. It all comes down to getting a good job offer and negotiating a good deal for yourself. Or do you believe a security guard or office assistant on a free zone visa will be better than an associate or other entry level position which is not a free zone job? Most definitely not. |
Donxavier: I don't doubt there are Nigerians working in oil coys in Abu Dhabi. It seems it's tough luck getting a job with one of the oil companies. A friend of mine flew from Aberdeen to Dubai to attend a very massive job fair February this year and most of the feedback emails he got after application where that the jobs were open only for emirati nationals. But there are always exceptions though.Yes some jobs are limited for nationals only but not all. Prepare a very professional CV and keep applying for the entry level jobs. Even if no vacancy is advertised still send your cv to the company you want, after all, what's the worst that cab happen? ![]() |
frostmate: Says who sir? Exactly. It's sad to see that many people are already aspiring to get security and other menial jobs before even leaving Nigeria. Many Nigeria have very good professional jobs and are making it big time, even with Nigerian passport and experience. |
ugsams: In my quest to find out why Al Baraha is considered bad, I stumbled on this article. Although the article is old, lengthy and didn't say much about Al Baraha, it tells a lot about different neighbourhoods in the UAE and the sweet part of it was that it was written by a Nigerian. If you enjoy reading, read and learn http://globetrotter82..nl/2009/01/dubai-uncovered.html?m=1As you can see from the blog post, apparently Al baraha was the most policed neighbourhood in Dubai, lol. Obviously nothing good goes on there........ |
drumma: Im seriously surprised at the level of response I got when I raise the question of hunting for a job in dubai.... Almost all of laughed and im wondering what the cause of that is.It is very very possible to get any and I mean ANY kind of job you want in Dubai. However it is also very difficult. You will be competing with people from other nationalities and you will also be fighting against racism . But with proper qualification and God on your side you can get the job you want. Regarding menial jobs, that's what is easy to get especially since it's the jobs that come from agents and the exchange of 'brown envelopes'. It does not mean that's the only kind of job you can get in Dubai. Regarding accommodation, go on dubbizle and you will get a proper idea of how much a good self contain will cost in Dubai. |
justi4jesu: lol , or am I wrong? Is there another way to magically obtain a labour card while under a visit/tourist visa and then use the labor card to search for jobs ![]() |
Festus2black: He said I can aply for labour card dat will enable me secure a jobLabour card is issued AFTER you have a job!!! Your employer applies for it for you! |
ugsams: This is the type of post where I enjoy answers by postemail I really wish he can still contribute on this thread on entrepreneurship and practical living in the UAE. postemail has great insight on things like this.Thats true. Haven't seen his post here in a while ![]() |
drumma: Hi all a quick big question for the likes of @monchouchou, @kevin4jesu and other dubai residents at large.hmn, where do I begin? yes accommodation is an issue in Dubai. No because of a lack of buildings but because of a lack of funds to rent such suitable buildings. Many job seekers stay 5 in a room or even stay in bunk beds (imagine secondary school boarding house). Selecting a good location is also a very important factor. Most people prefer staying within "trek able" distance from a metro station to save transportation costs. So the buildings around the metro stations are more expensive. Your typical 3 bedroom flat will cost around AED10,000 to AED15,000 Monthly. Lets assume u get a very cheap one for AED10,000, that may be excluding or including utilities (Light, water, wifi etc). so your AED90,000 will only extend for 9 months. At AED 10,000 how many people do you want to accommodate in the flat? and how much will they be willing to pay that will enable you recover your costs and then make a sizable profit? You are new to Dubai, so its not like you already have an established network of friends to help you spread the word that you have shared accommodation for rent. So lets assume you spend one month searching for "tenants", thats one month loss. The second month you are able to get half the number of required tenants, another month loss. The third month you are able to get the complete number of tenants but then 1 or 2 default in payment…… You see where I'm going with this? There are many people doing this accommodation business and some of them are making profit, but these are old timers who know the in and out of the African underworld in Dubai. They are able to spread the word like wild fire and get tenants. I will not advise a newbie to venture into it unless you are not interested in making quick profits…..#justmy2fils |
tunde300us: Well maybe that explains it,i have applied for almost 100 jobs on that site and not one mention, maybe cos my address on my profile reads lagos, nigeria.Like has been repeatedly said on the thread, its much better to be on ground while searching for jobs in Dubai. Unless you have a very distinct CV, which contains trainings, qualifications etc that the company is specifically looking for, there is no way they will ordinarily select you over another applicant who is already in Dubai, can come to their office for a face to face interview and probably already has GCC experience. Your sector is IT which is ruled by the Indians and Chinese. Indians look after their own first before considering other nationalities. Not saying this to discourage you, but keep this at the back of your mind and dont get discouraged if you don't get any feedback within your expected period. |
tunde300us: Hi,has anyone used this site to get any kinda job cos ive been there but dont think its working. www.dubizzle.comYes many people have and my company uses it sometimes. The issue is that there r real job adverts and there are also many fake scammers there so be careful |
drumma: Thank for taking out time to at least breeze through my post... I did it that way because someone might need it later on....What I can advise, regarding accommodation, is this: include a weeks stay in a hotel in your budget. Search for cheap hotels (preferably around deira as that's where many hustling naija guys stay so information flies like wild fire there, but be wary as there are also a whole lot of scammers) book online or go straight there from the airport. From your hotel room you can search for shared accomodation with other people. Either bed space or shared rooms etc. Since you will already be on ground you can view the place yourself. The newspapers carry ads daily of people looking for room mates etc. |
drumma: Good to know im able to get your attention.... Im sure you noticed i sent u an automated msg as i have no intentions Pm u just incase.Your post is very long and a tad bit confusing. Please clarify what you need help with as you have made up your mind to come here to search for a job already. The thread contains almost all the information you need regarding that. It's lengthy I agree, but it's worth the read. Do u need help in getting a suitable accommodation as residence or residence permit (residence visa)? |
Drumma, I believe u r aware of all the announcements I have been making on the thread regarding private messages. Please ask your questions here and I will answer u. Don't send (or attempt) to send me a PM. |
It is well. Those with bad intentions will always be exposed, either sooner or later. Yet we wonder why some people keep regressing in life…. |
sweetsleek: They are toasting me, that they can do anything and any kinda visa round the world lolLol…….. We are still watching. Didn't I warn you that you were attracting agents to yourself? There are still many more on this thread. With time they will still be exposed |
