The trouble is that if CVs are posted here, even with personal information removed
there are some people who will just copy them for their own use or to sell. angry

Be carefull what you put on a public website!
Very true. That is part of the abuse I am talking about and this is why I have shelved the idea.

Yeaaaa Part 2 loading...... Monchouchou will be in court defending her clients by then, so I'm gonna log in first grin grin tongue
grin grin, phew! I think your first post on the new thread should be a summary of the whole process from getting visas, flight tickets, to looking for accommodation, how to prepare an acceptable CV, networking, job searching, visa change, enjoying life in dubai, tourists spots, etc. Justi I have given you work tongue tongue

Meanwhile, I feel sad anytime I see some of the CV's of job seekers. I'm not saying lie on your cv, but at least make it presentable and highlight your selling points.

Hi guys, I landed on Monday(4.30am)... I entered via terminal 2, everything was fine until I got outside the airport and I asked myself "who placed this dubai on fire that its so hot like this"

Before boarding, I had issue with immi officer despite holding an employment visa. I shha gave her 3k(naira) bfor she allowed me pass. Infact, I almost missed my flight, I was d last to board. The plane was actually waiting for me, because my luggage was with them, but I hadn't boarded, so they looking for d last passenger up nd down.

Funny enuff, wen d immigration madam freed me, I forgot to stamp my passport, I was about boarding wen d last immigration officer check my pali nd no stamp. @ this point, this immigration officer(man) and some Rwanda plane guys started helping me o, they delayed d flight for anoda 5mins, this immigration man rushed to help me stamp, my (shoes, belt, laptop) were in my hands nd I started running to catch my flight o.
Twas when I got inside that they brought my boarding passes to me, I had thrown them away while running. Infact, make I stop there, no be small thing oo

Rwanda airline is cool, I love it.

Now in dubai, am in Abuhail currently, av visited my my company, av collected temporary Id card, waiting for first test and interview call. This dubai taxi no be beans o, I will give all my best shha.

We are about 5 Nigerians, am heading to stage1, 3people on stage 2, 1person of stage 3(road test).

We are looking for house o, our landlord don pursue us comot for us.
Welcome to Dubai grin grin. Sorry you had to go through all that stress but thank God you did not miss your flight because that would have been another story entirely.

I wish you success in your RTA tests and I hope you pass it all in one sitting. Goodluck grin

what about doing a masters program there?

Not worth it. Even the employers here value UK, US and Canada certificates more than those issued in the country. Also, you cant really work and study like that and you get no residence permit after your studies.

I have always wanted to ask this too, i dont have someone too, please can 4 or 3 of us here on Nairaland go at same date, then we can book same hotel and get accommodation, pending the time we get jobs, cos i heard your Employer will get you accommodation thanks.

And please oga Jesti4jesu and oga Natty can you please just summarize the whole page instead of people referring people to page 300 please just try to do a summary of the whole process please, from visa to hotel to accommodation and jobs, and how much can someone keep starting from visa thanks so much in advance sir.
1. It will be hard for a group of people from the forum to come together and rent a room or whatever because of the issue of trust. Not everyone here is why they claim to be and there are many fraudsters. Also, the rules of the forum (and past experience) frown on backyard communication.

2. Not all employers give accommodation. And sometimes it is even better to collect allowance and sort yourself out.

3. The reason this thread is this long is because people keep asking the same questions and people keep repeating the same answers. Its a life changing decision that you are about to make. Taking a few days to read through will bless you with so much knowledge rather than the rushed answers someone can type in their free time.

Thanx Chinelo.am very grateful.I have passed dha and gotten eligibility letter.please do u have contact in Dubai.I guess I have to work one year before I will convert to Haad.
Congrats. I know that is not very easy.

Try to get a 1 month or 3 months visa and come visit hospitals and apply. You should be able to get a job even if its at a poly clinic. You have just one year so try not to be too picky as the year runs by pretty fast. Your main focus should be how to convert the Eligibility letter to a License then you can always move on to a better job. Good luck smiley

Hello House,

Urgent suggestion from folks in Dubai, a friend is almost at the point of accepting a Managerial Job with a company in Dubai. He's done 3 Stages of Skype interviews.

The company according to him is at Dubai World Central, he wants to know if USD 5000/month he proposed to accept is not a bad deal for the cost of daily living in dubai and of course savings bearing in mind that the company said he will be responsible for his own accommodation. They promised him two annual return tickets to his home country (Nigeria) & health coverage.

Your responses will go a long way to help in this decision making, the person is employed in Nigeria and want to be sure before resigning.
Are you talking about a friend or you are asking about yourself??

Anyway, it seems like a good offer but then again it depends on how much this person(you) are currently earning in Nigeria and the kind of life style you live.

And @sabrinatravels too
There is almost nothing you want to ask that hasn't been answered before. And if it hasn't been answered it is probably because the rules of the forum do not allow it or no one can give a fixed answer.

Ask you questions openly and people will answer you openly. All these behind the scene communication is what gets people scammed.

Reading from page 1,still on page 40

Trying to get as much details as I can b4 moving.

A question

How much is ticket fee, I mean d cheapest, I saw a comment of som1 mentioning 1 African country (Rwanda) like Dat as a stop over.

Will come wit more questions plz
You can always google "cheap flights from Lagos to Dubai". You will find a lot of answers. Meanwhile, the cheapest may not always be the best if you haven't travelled before. Some people end up missing connecting flights….

@Gooci, so what do you want us to do now? you know the policy and rules regarding agents on this thread. it is seriously frowned upon. this is how they give stories from one to another. but you seem to trust him because of your friend and have already started with him. so do you need us to calculate it for you or what?

Please house, i need your advice on this.

Is an offer of 13,000 AED PER MONTH in Abu Dhabi a good one for a married man?.

He will be responsible for his local transport , accommodation + feeding.

please what is the range of self-contain apartment in Abu Dhabi,is it advisable for him to move with his family?

please house the offer is not a SCAM, he just need your candid advice on things highlighted above to be able to make a decision fast.
thank you.
Assuming he has done his investigation and is sure that it is not a scam, lets consider the following:

1. How much is he currently earning in Nigeria and what are his career prospects back home?

2. The U.A.E is very very expensive. AED13,000 is about 690,000 which will seem like a lot of money. However, a good 2 bedroom apartment will cost at least AED6,500 monthly. So he is left with AED 6,500. And he cannot move with his family into a self contain. To sponsor them he needs to provide his tenancy contract etc.

3. What of schooling for the children? will his employer pay? if not he should just forget about it.

4. Feeding for adults may not be a big deal because you can always manage and eat what you see, but children are a totally different matter.

5. There is no metro in Abu Dhabi so he will spend a lot on taxis.

It is a nice offer if he is not earning that much in Nigeria. However, he shouldn't rush to bring his family.

IS THAT THE AMOUNT FOR SALARY? IF YES I DOUBT IT, 13000AED PER MONTH TO A NIGERIAN. IT SMELLS LIKE SCAM TO ME.
Don't sell your country people short abeg. There is nothing strange about a Nigerian earning that much and even more. I personally know ALOT of nigerians earning more than that. You haven't asked what job he is going to do, or you think everyone comes to do security or maid job in Dubai?

We have said it repeatedly on the thread. You either apply through a travel agency here in the U.A.E, apply through an airline (Emirates or Etihad), apply through a good hotel, or get a local or suitable relative resident here to apply for you.

Those are the routes I know.

Hello all, been a while i checked in here..
@justi4jesu and co,
My friend wants to visit and work if possible but we are kind of lacking information on how to go about it.
He's into fashion design and wants to go over to continue with his line of work, I advice him on getting a visit/tourist visa then go do his findings over there him self.
so my question is, whats the best thing for him to do?
That's a new one grin. He is free to try his luck but he should remember that this is a muslim country. Can he design different types of Abayas for the ladies and kaftans for guys?? grin

Then for those that do "cut & sew" corporate clothes, its either the indians or the very expensive Italian designers…...

Yes, you can be offered a job but 1 month is not advisable for job seeking because it seems time runs faster when you're job hunting. After the first 2 weeks, the last 2 weeks will be a very desperate and depressing one. I personally know someone who went back last week to Nigeria after 3 months of job hunting.
That is very sad. I can imagine how much he must have spent

Please planning on going to Dubai after fasting, please anyone need a room mate? Anyone planning going by that time too, we can rent a room together just before we get jobs, it will save us spending more, and please do you think I can be offered a job with a one month visa even if its not extendable? Need response please and thanks
Yes you can be offered a job while on a 1 month visa. The question is wether you will find a job within that 1 month and the answer still remains the same. No one can guarantee that, especially now that the Dubai job market is saturated with job seekers from different nationalities.

job placement!!! dat he has gotten a placement or still searching??, anyways if he hasn't, he should just come to UAE cos of it's very friendly environment and also employer/employee relationship to me is better in UAE cos of the expats from different religions here, I tink he would find kuwait and Oman ok if he is a Muslim cos they do not tolerate all that the Emirates do. and lastly UAE offer better pay. anyways I stand corrected if someone proves me wrong.
Very true. The U.A.E is the most liberal and open minded islamic country (except for maybe Lebanon?) But I don't agree about the better pay in U.A.E. when it comes to blue collar jobs, I believe Kuwait pays more in general.

Do UAE companies gives any form of Holiday / Leave to there employers when the contract is still running, and if so. How many days or week , is it per year or what ?
Cos of an event if someone intends to tie the knot or has an urgent call from home. And then fly back again. Is such allowed overthere. Thanks as i awaits your inputs.
It really depends on the company. There are official holidays (e.g muslim holidays and U.A.E National day) which they cannot deny their employees lest they be reported to MOL. Other than those, don't expect it to be like Nigeria where you have all sorts of holidays; Christian, muslim, workers day, gbogbo e.

If you have a good working relationship with your employer you can always ask for some time off.
