It's official! MCU is now ahead of the Harry Potter, James Bond, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings franchises. With the MCU still only in Phase 2, there is every chance that it will set an all time record which will be difficult to beat, though the Star Wars franchise may run it close

I still believe that the Captain America films are the best standalone films, yes I know Iron Man is fun, but I've gotta go with the Cap. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is all kinds of awesome - I've rewatched way too many times. The weakest films in the MCU are the Thor films, as much as I like the blond Asgardian, there are still times I wonder why I like it - okay maybe because I like Darcy Lewis, Thor & the humour, it hasn't stopped me from watching the heck out of it. The Avengers films are also brilliant, they're highly entertaining ensemble cast films with lots of one-liners, climatic battles & the mandatory death of a character (Joss Whedon's trademarks).
So Winter Soldier on top for you, great choice. They need to make Thor 3 really good, he has suffered enough. What do you think about Guardians?

Nice ranking bro

Bt d best frm MCU I ave seen is Avengers 1, cap 2 and probably ant-man ( dnt ask me how cheesy)

Bt to me avengers 1 and cap 2 are d best.....GOG is too funny I kinda consider it to be a comedy flick (pls dnt kill me oooo) d thor series as been poor really poor. And only Iron man 1 and 3 is watchable pt 2 is jst ...........

Sezly watchout 4 ant-man its gonna be anoda GOG-like bluck buster..........

As also try to check out FF4.....I ave a feelin d movie is gonnna be great
Lol you have to say where you saw Antman oo. Gotg is just personal favourite, i'm probably biased. I agree that Antman will bring a new dimension like Gotg. The films are getting more diverse which is a good thing. FF4 sha..i have a bad feeling about it. At least it's not a MCU film so even if it bombs no biggie.

Yea that confused me. They're obviously introducing a twist but i can't guess what it is. Are there two different IG's? Was that one a fake?

To mark this, let's rank all the MCU movies, from best to worst. I'll give my own ranking but i'll leave out AoU cos i haven't seen it yet

Guardians of the Galaxy

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Avengers

Iron Man

Thor

Captain America : The First Avenger

The Incredible Hulk

Iron Man 3

Iron Man 2

Thor: The Dark World

So i'm watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D again, out of boredom mostly as i didn't enjoy the first season but the praise from some of you here made me curious. You were right guys, especially MrDojo, it's definitely better than Season 1. My favourite characters are Skye & Raina. Coulson is still boring to me, i get that he's the director and everything, but he could make it lively at least.

What interests me mostly is the fact that Marvel is basically using this season to launch the next big project. If there's anything i love about them, it's that they plan ahead. They just don't drop bombs on you out of nowhere and if a major thing is going to happen in the MCU, you can bet that the seeds have being sown long before. The seeds they're planting this time are the Inhumans.....and it works! Inhumans are popping up everywhere in the comics now; Ms. Marvel, Inhumanity, Attilan Rising....and it makes perfect sense that we're only discovering them after the Terrigen mists had being dispersed by Black bolt in his confrontation with Thanos in Infinity. I mean of course their genes in humans are only being activated after the event. Hence Skye and the others
Everything is starting to make sense. With Loki's sceptre and HYDRA tie-in, you can't help remembering the post credits scene of Winter Soldier, where Baron Strucker was experimenting on the twins. Now i have more motivation to watch Avengers: Age of Ultron since i know it's everything is connected. With Maria Hill showing up, I'm sure the Avengers will follow that lead, but i have to wait to see if my prediction is correct in AoU.
Summary; good series, getting better. Not as good as daredevil though nothing is quite as good as daredevil

Superstory! Go and check imdb now it has reduced to 8.2 am sure in the following days it will reduce. Marvel has hypnotized people, they will see anything so far the marvel logo is on it. Am not going to contribute to marvel finances by seeing this movie in a cinema. I will download it illegally from a torrent website and watch it anytime I feel like going to sleep. Avengers: Age of Sucktron. Rubbish!
Smh. I thought this thread was for reasonable discussion. Seems i was wrong, my mistake.

Accountable how, they answer to know one remember black widows little speech at winter soldier ending ?
Remember the actions that brought about the whole registration in the series.
Their is nothing wrong with a oversight even stipends for impoverished heroes like Spiderman and Luke cage
The point I made earlier was lost, the leader of the anti registeration movement was by Cap America, whose identity is know to all and hasn't suffered for it.
Now the way Iron man and Mr fantastic went about the whole thing was wrong but their heart was in the right place.
Have you seen it yet ?

Lmao @impoverished. I get your point; good idea, badly executed. If the issue came up in real life, i would vote against it.

I have to ask, seeing as this is the golden age of live action comic movies what has been the magnum opus of them all? What are the best 3 comic movie ever made till date IN YOUR OPINION?

My list:
3. The Dark Knight (one word; Ledger. I still have goose bumps remembering his performance).

2. X-Men, Days of Future Past (I keep crying tears of joy when I consider the muck that has been erased from that glorious timeline. The Wolverine Origin story, the Last Stand and The Wolverine 2014...all gloriously gone)

1. The Watchmen (This film...has the most powerful storyline and execution I have ever seen in a superhero movie. It is a cinematic classic and Ozymandas as a villain was near perfect. Even Dr Manhattan...was majestic. But they don't even compare to the perfection that was Rorschach. Fueking heellll! That is the best made superhero ever put on TV!
My favourites are
3. X-men 2: Great story, great action, very little flaws.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy : What stands out for me here is how easily you fall in love with the characters. No other superhero movie has quite managed to do that for me

1. Batman begins : quite simply, the best origin tale for a superhero. I feel it's a criminally underrated film, and better than The Dark Knight , the Joker nothwisthanding.

Not seen the movie yet though... buh I think the yellow infinity stone is the gem on Vision's Forehead...
The Time stone? That's the yellow one. That would make him too powerful. Being able to control time, that's something up Dr Strange's alley. Vision's powers make sense for a Soul or Mind stone. Or reality..,crap i give up. Watch the movie cheesy
TV/MoviesRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 9:38am On May 01, 2015
Infinity Gems update!
Brief intro: the Infinity gems/stones are the 6 most powerful treasures in the Marvel universe. They each represent a part of existence and when they're joined together in the Infinity Gauntlet, the give the wearer the ability to control the universe. Yeah no joke!. You can get a better explanation from the Collector's speech in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Well all they've been introduced in previous MCU films..
The Mind gem/Stone --- The Sceptre in Thor, Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The Power gem/stone---- The Orb in Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Reality gem/stone----The Aether in Thor: The Dark World.

The Space gem/stone----the Tesseract in the Avengers, Thor and Captain America: the First Avenger

The Time gem/stone------yet to be revealed

The Soul gem/stone-----yet to be revealed

Now in the comics, Thanos is the ultimate bad guy who like bad guys everywhere wants ultimate power, so of course he plots & schemes to get hold of the Infinity stones and Infinity Gauntlet.

Before AoU, the Infinity Gauntlet was last seen in Asgard. A scene in Thor shows the glove in Odin's vault along with other relics. Well in Aou, without going into spoilers, Thanos takes a big step towards his goal.
Now only the Soul and Time stones are still missing. So pay attention while watching AoU There are many reveals, also wait for the scene at the end of the movie!

TV/MoviesRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 2:39am On May 01, 2015
If you ignore the fact that they're speculating based on events in the comics, this is a pretty cool infographic.Think they made some mistakes though. The Inhumans already have a connection to Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D and they left out all the infinity gems connections.

My thought during reading was, the heroes were afraid of registering with the government because of their personal identity getting out which is a bit funny seeing as how their leader is Captain America.
Nothing is wrong with registration,
Heroes needed to be accountable for some of their actions.
In the comics, most superheroes had secret identities. So making it compulsory to register and reveal personal information was a big deal. Superheroes have always being accountable for their actions, it's the Supervillains that need policing. There's no way the real bad guys would agree to be registered so the entire purpose of the legislation becomes defeated. That's why it didn't make sense. The movement was just born out of fear and greed; fear of the general population and greed of the politicians.
Another point is that it violates their civil rights and essentially discriminates superheroes. At one point they built a prison for them, assasinated those that opposed..the whole thing was just wrong
TV/MoviesRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 6:34am On Apr 28, 2015
SIRcumalot:
Iron man,
That registration bill is a very good plan
I hope the absence of the Fantastic 4 won't be felt they played a very important part in the comics.
If I remember correctly Hulk(planet hulk series) was absent and we only got fake thor for the comic run.
I'm on Cap's side, never a good idea to trust politicians. I think it was just an attempt to control the superheroes and limit their power. Imagine a world where Iron man was sent to fight America's wars against Iraq. Terrible idea
Yea the Fantastic four will be missed. They can make it work with the Defenders though, personally i'd rather see Daredevil than Reed Richards. That Thor clone storyline was messed up, glad he's not going to be around. Hulk is simply too powerful to put in Civil War, that's why they sent him away in the comics, guess they'll do the same in the movies
TV/MoviesRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m):
War is coming! Add Crossbones to the list.
So to recap the confirmed list of superheroes for Civil War; Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Falcon, Black Panther, Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch, War Machine.
Confirmed villains; Baron Zemo, Crossbones.
Rumuored; Spiderman, Ant Man, Daredevil, Kingpin, Dr Strange, Punisher, Captain Marvel...
Update: Chris Helmsworth confirms Thor will not be in Civil War. Hulk might also out of the running *spoilers* based on AoU ending

Marvel has delivered another master piece. They should give it a break though. They have been on course since Disney's. Vibranium is even weaker to Adamantium (?)
You've seen it already? If you're referring to durability, then yes it is. In terms of utility though, it's not. It's more useful because of the variety of weapons you can make it due to it's energy absorbing/reflecting property. Even Adamantium can't cut Cap's Vibranium shield so i wonder what could possibly have happened inAoU. No spoilers please

The show is everything Gotham wanted to be. I also agree that the miniseries format works better; tighter plots lead to better execution. Netflix deserves as much praise as Marvel.
The best thing is it's already been confirmed for Season 2. Can't wait!

Is anyone else watching Daredevil? This show is amazing! I didn't expect much to be honest and only watched cos the reviews were so good, but wow....wow. I'm on episode 6 and so far they nailed Daredevil, his charisma, his religous piety and his ruthlessness. He's even more brutal than the bad guy, Wilson Fisk; Kingpin, hell of a villian! MCU finally has another worthy villian. The fight scenes are awesome too. There's one in a hallway that had me thinking The Raid 2. If i have any complaint, it's that they made Murdock too realistic. Daredevil is getting his ass beaten so much i wonder how he survives. I guess it's because he's just starting his hero career. He'll mature with time.
In short i love this series, it's better than Breaking Bad, than 24, than Game of thrones, than....ok i'm exaggerating but damn! Watch it

does the who really matter? Well same critics who review m0vies. Obviously there's n0thing mem0rable about the villain.
Lool this is funny. Was wondering how long it'd take for the DC fanboys to attack. The reviews have generally been good. It presently has tomato score of 85, is 9.2 on IMDB & has a 7.2 score on metacritic. These are the 3 most trusted movie review outlets. It's worth noting that these are early reviews as the movie has only been released in some european countries & most critics haven't seen it yet. Therefore the movie rating will definitely fluctuate for some days.
However we can assume that AoU will not rate as high as Avengers did, It certainly doesn't mean it's not great, as i think most people had unrealistic expectations for the movie. Saying Ultron is unmemorable is incorrect as no review i read said that. What they're generally saying is he's a good villain but not on the same level as Wilson Fisk & Loki. Those are the best two villains the MCU has produced.

okay. Well tell me m0re about that sentry character. I've heard of it but n0t sure how related it is to superman. Isn't sentry a robot. Again that reminds me, isn't ultr0n a brainiac rip off?
Sentry is an alien life force manifested in a serum enhanced human. Sentry & Supes are very similar down to the S on their costumes but Sentry has additional powers plus the mental instability. I don't know who is stronger though. The similarities are so much that it's almost certain he is a ripoff . Braniac & Ultron hmmm. As similar as they are i don't think they were meant as copycats. Their personalities are very different despite the fact that they're both villains.

False. There is no way Cap is a Superman ripoff. Their origin stories, powers and abilities aren't similar sef. The closest Marvel hero that resembles Supes is Sentry. If you say that one is a ripoff i can understand.
Namor was created in 1939, 3 years before Aquaman was released with the same power set
LiteratureRe: Top 10 Nigerian Writers Of All Time. by moneyallowed(m): 3:58pm On Apr 21, 2015
Nice idea. The list was poor though and very subjective. There's a reason classic literature is usually ranked above contemporary works, it's because they've being read by generation after generation yet still retain their appeal. You might personally not like Shakespeare, but you cannot deny that his works have endured. Same goes for the literary giants in Nigeria's relatively short history;Achebe,Soyinka,Ekwensi......It's difficult to predict how well authors who presently enjoy cult status like Adichie/Cole/Habila/Atta will be recieved in 50 years time.Sometimes authors who may be unrecognised in their generation find distinction in later years. For this reason i find it absurd to include Cole/Adichie/Atta/Habila but leave out greats like Ekwensi/Tutuola/Rotimi/Clark.
I know novels are more widely read than poems/plays but since the post says literature, it'd be fair to consider the playwrights & poets. I'd even rank those that dabble in all three like Soyinka over the prose specialists.

Marvel's original character i can think of is spiderman. X men? Is a dc rip off of d0om patrol. Where their head is in a wheel chair and they are also misfits to the society.
Lol dude! Captain America is Superman without the capehuh You obviously don't know your history of ripoffs. There are numerous instances of comic book characters being copied by rival comanies. If my memory is right, DC started it by copying both Batman &Superman from established characters, The Shadow and Gladiator. For every Green arrow/Hawkeye, i can point out Namor/Aquaman.
So stop the fanboy war and enjoy just learn to enjoy your superheroes

bruce banner's hulk's the green one. As far as i knw he's never being red, blue, yellow or grey. The grey's the oldest versi0n that was rewritten to be the green one. The red hulk is ross, betty's father. The blue's A b0mb, bruce's friend. Bruce's hulk is green.

They even tried it with batman and robin only the film failed outrightly. If on tv series, justice league had a life acti0n show that had a few epis0des. Dc isn't copying marvel, marvel had the chance to kick start it because ir0n man was a success.
