AMINDA: Can you please send me these books if you have them in mobi or epub format? Email is aminudauda@gmail.com.Especially First law trilogyAite.not sure if I still have the gentleman bastard & dagger and coin books but will send me the others |
Obinnau: i love you,Lol I won't. here's a link where the "big five of fantasy" give their own book recommendations http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2014/07/sdcc-george-rr-martin-and-friends-offer-book-recom.html |
SIRcumalot: Nice list have read most of this except for Stormlight Archive and the Magicians (Quentin whines too much for my liking)Lol true that. Q has some growing up to do. Was waiting for The Prince of Fools to be completed is it done yet? High praise for Blood song! definitely reading it next. Thanks! |
Obinnau: Hey anyone got an interesting book i have got do read? pls i love reading series.Recommending series is hard work cos books up to the standard of ASOIAF are scarce. These are the few I know that are as good, or probably better, than GRRM's epic series. The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Eriksson- Some say this series is better but I disagree, mostly because it's more difficult. It's definitely more complex, much much longer( up to 10 books and the smallest is more than 1500 pages- no kidding), more rewarding( if you have patience) and more...Epic. The series is simply Epic! definitely worth it. The First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie- Awesome too. Like GRRM and Erikson, this guy kills his characters for fun, so you'll never be able to predict what'll happen next The Broken Empire Trilogy by Mark Lawrence - Very very good series. What I love about it is Lawrence stopped before the series got stale so if you finish it, you'll end on a high The Magicians Trilogy by Lev Grossman- Read if you liked Harry Potter and even if you didn't, still read. You might finish it feeling depressed though. The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss- Decent series. The writing is beautiful even though the plot can be a bit predictable at times. The Gentleman Bastard series by Scott Lynch - Fun ride from start to finish, especially if you're into Thief adventures The Dagger and Coin Series by Daniel Abraham- nothing special about the series but cool nonetheless. The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks - Very original and enjoyable series The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson- Highly recommended. It's not finished though ( only 2 books written )so you might want to wait a bit, before you start invoking his name like GRRM's |
Bawss1: It seems most of the comments here are from people who know only the Marvel characters from the movies and not the more detailed comics. A pity. It's the world we live in bro. Really sad |
Habeebpain: I think it's childish when you start comparing heroes from two different franchises. I can write the story as I want. I'm just trying to make money. If I start analysing now you'll be surprised to learn that flash is stronger than hulk. And Silver surfer will thrash Thor mercilessly. But see how they downplayed Silver surfer in The fantastic four sequel.Of course it's childish. twas you DC fanboys that came and started it here in the 1st place, but since you've gone down that road already let me say this- DC has lost it's way....hell the comics got so bad at one point the had to reboot the entire thing. When you say flopped i'm not sure what you mean cos they still outsell DC 2-1 so what criteria are you using? As for the Villains...... hmm. Realistic abi? They make the superheroes so powerful and the villians so ordinary( the joker, Lex Luthor) with no superpowers and you call that realistic? I say Iron man could exist in our world rather than Batman. tell me which is more plausible; an eccentric brilliant billionaire developed his own armour to become a superhero or that another billionaire went to a cave for a while, learnt some kung fu skills and suddenly became a superhero? BTW if you're looking for "realistic" then the comic universe is not for you. |
Guykhena: https://x.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/4/00/5398c952860ad/portrait_incredible.jpgCan't wait to see Rocket in action. I'm guessing it'll be most enjoyable Marvel movie ever with lotsa humour & fun |
kechywillz: I would like marvel to produce Spiderman,Xmen andCaptain America to be in series or seasonal movie, think about it,it ought to be in series, its gonna mk it interestingMarvel don't own the movie rights to Spiderman and X-men. That honour belongs to Fox and Sony. so they can't produce any of those in the near future. They've already listed the series they'll be doing and Captain america is not one of them. The list includes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Defenders....and of course the useless Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D |
tomiobj: lifting mjonilr dosen't need strength. Its an enchantment. Hulk needs to be worth to lift it. And if hulk truly lifted it he'll av the power of thor(thats what it says @d bkof the hammer). That's Thor's old hammer in the comic. Not mjonilrI've always said that worthy thing is very vague. if it's not by strength why hasnt Janet pym or Ant-man lifted it ehn? Since all the guys that have been "allowed" to lift it are all strong, i can only assume strength is a requirement too. The old hammer. issorai....cos we are all fools abi?next thing they'll say it was the old Thor. diariz God oo |
cupidhero: thor is now a girl and they say it is only temporay, captain america is now black which i'm cool with...i don't do marvel's thor...i would read about thor only if marvel is not involved. How can thors hammer be wielded by a girl? No wonder disney aquired marvel so they can make more kid friendly movies. name one marvel supervillain that can be compared to the jokers? why so serious?@gayvel fanbois"the Thor is a chick" storyline will be explained and depending on how good that explanation is there might be something to salvage. God knows it can't be as bad as the Flashpoint by DC....talk about the most horrible disaster in comic book history. Am i confused or are all these DC comic superheroes- Bouncing boy, Granny goodness, Elongated man, Doll man,.....the show of shame is just too long let's not even get started with the list of silly DC supervilains. You mentioned The Joker that's the best DC supervillain? lemme guess cos you watched The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger was so cool( oh he's so dreamy, his performance was just legendary....nuff said) FYI the no1 supervillain in comic book history is Magneto! check Comic vine or any world wide poll you want. and ffs get your own thread!! |
Feraz: Superman didn't actually lift it. Odin allowed Superman wield the hammer albeit a little. Superman can stop a blow from the hammer but not lift it. Heck, he was the first in the Marvel world to actual stop a blow from the hammer leaving Thor surprised. The Odin all father explanation is just a cop-out the writers devised to get themselves out of a fan backlash once it became apparent the whole purpose of the crossover issue was to solve the debate of Mjölnir. since then they've found various excuses for heroes to wield the hammer in "dire" circumstances. Fact is Mjölnir is the only thing special about Thor but since others can also wield it if worthy, it stands to reason that there's really nothing special about Thor Q.E.D ![]() Oh and Superman is not part of the Marvel World. Hulk is the 1st. thank you |
Feraz: Actually, that lifting up was fake. The movie got it right by not letting Hulk lift the hammer.fake? the movie scene was for ad tins jare. do you know how many people have lifted that hammer and used it against Thor or someone else? even superman has used it, a DC comics guy for chrissakes! pls goan read comics abeg or better still, google |
cupidhero: we won't open any thread...is about time we school you and your fellow marvel fanboys on what's cool and what's wack.haha we know why you really won't open that thread of yours...not enough interested fans to keep it going. As for the DC vs Marvel thingy, everyone knows Marvel has been more successful in recent times. I respect DC but they really need to sit up if they're gonna make it a fair fight |

tomiobj: Dint u see how Thor beat hulk lyk madd in avengers. Thor gave hulk a face full of mjonilr. Hulk nw wanted to carry it den broke the floor while tryingHaba guy! Hulk has beaten Thor countless times...black, blue and even green. he has also lifted that hammer( forget that worthy shit) again, countless times. Thor's the only one that can stand a round of bashing by Hulk(besides Wolverine) so they pit them against each other very often. #team hulk

Tosyn007: Aint there a complaint thread somewhere on nairaland? No mind the guy jare....they won't complain about all those other useless threads they'll be coming to troll here mtcheeew |

koonbey: Seriously Man,I'm so hooked. You could try out his Stormlight Archive series next. preferred it to Mistborn and that's saying something. The Rithmatist is also cool. once again Sanderson's the man! |
SIRcumalot: Am a big fan of this guy i plan to start this book next week or so is it that bad ?It's not bad at all but compared to his previous writing I'd say it's his weakest effort. Read all his books, absolutely loved The First law trilogy. Best served cold is his best standalone, The Heroes was great too. Maybe I'm judging him too harshly sha. read it 1st & lemme know what you think |
Can't wait for the Comic-con announcements. almost as nerve wracking as waiting for the start of the new EPL season |
DAvIt0: ExactlyThat's just silly. no one questions whether Warner bros influence every business decision of DC comic. no matter how you look at it, the Thor sex change is just that - a business decision, and The multi conglomerates don't decide for their subsidiaries... they give them objectives & targets and leave them to work out how to reach them. let's stop blaming Disney abeg The only theory I'm willing to accept is that of solving all those debates - who is faster( Flash/Quicksilver), stronger (Superman/ The Thing/Silversurfer) and that will only happen if Murdoch succeeds in buying Warner, thereby uniting The DC and the X-men/Fantastic four movie franchises. Till then enough of the conspiracy theories |
Pew pew! simple physics game that's still immensely enjoyable |
koonbey: #NowReading Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, just on Page 128,but the Book is shaping up to be a truly exceptional ReadAwesome book: Sanderson's the man! |
In the year 2039....I kid you not. Buffon, Casillas, Julio Cesar, C.Ronaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, Giggs, Etoo,Scholes,Rooney, Pirlo,Puyol,....my life's work is complete. now I can die in peace ![]() |
koonbey: Is it better?,I would say so,yes. Just as many Twists and Turns, but the main Difference is that The Thousand Names was more Military oriented, but the Sequel has a lot of Action-Adventure tho.Aite thanks! |
I'm a big fan of musicals so I've watched them over and over....and over. The Sound of Music has to be my most re-watched movie of all time, closely followed by Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. |
Nigerians are really into ebooks now, due in no small way to the rise of smartphones. Majority of them are free though, i'm estimating only 1 in 10 ebooks are paid for. qe only buy when there's no other alternative, at least I do ![]() |
Reading Half a King by Joe Abercrombie..page 762. I'm not a fan of YA novels so maybe I'm biased but I've got to say this is not Abercrombie's best work. If the title didn't give it away already you're reminded every chapter or so that the protagonist Yarvi is half something. To make matters worse it seems this is just the first in yet another trilogy. It's a safe bet I won't be reading any JA soon, at least until he writes something more mature. |
ERTHAENIGMA: no. The cinematic universe is not forced to follow the storylines from the comics to the letter. Check out spiderman. The first release showed peter parker shooting webs from his wrists. While the amazing spiderman depicted accuratley according to the comics that spidey uses a web slinger. The thing is there are some things that are too ridiculous to be adapted and should be left in the comics. If x-men had use the uniforms of the members in the comics in the screen adaptation, you'd be like, dafuq?Lol I see what you mean |
koonbey: Reading The Shadow Throne, which is Book 2 in The Shadow Campaigns Series by Django Wexler, very very entertaining; I'm already dreading the Wait FOR The next Installment.Yo dude is it better than The Thousand Names? been waiting for someone to recommend it 1st before I waste precious time on a disappointing sequel |
