Firefight wasn't as good as Steelheart, but the premise of the story in general "superheroes as the bad guys" was very cool.
yeah nice concept. loved the way it ended with a bang

Chapter 15
Inevera is still my favourite character.
The thread will probably die a quick death others have tried fantasy just isn't very popular.

Edit:just finished the book, there wasn't enough of the Jardir and Arlen but It was very good.
my favourite line is "It is Inevera". Glad you liked it. I actually like the fact that there wasn't much of Arlen or Jardir, fed up with those two. Also fed up with the pacing; very little actually happened in real time. most of the book was spent in flashbacks. Then he pulls a GRRM move on us and for what? Why do they have to kill off perfectly good characters for no reason?

This is the first time am hearing its out am about to start reading right away.
I am kinda bummed that you were disappointed by the book,I was looking forward to skull throne and the next installment in the Gentlemen bastards and the red queen wars series.
I thought the 3rd book suffered from too much fillers hopefully it won't be the same for this one.
I blame the cliffhanger at the end of Daylight War. It left me expecting so much more. What page are you on now?
A dedicated fantasy thread will be a good idea!

Okay first of all let me point you to other A-list Superheroes on their first outings Batman Begins which made only 374 million, Iron Man made 585 million and Captain America made 370 million so Man of steel making over 650 million is not a big blow to the face.

As for critically, the movie itself is very polarizing as critics either loved the movie and its take or absolutely hated it, both for very valid reasons so I won't bother arguing with you on the movie's critical performance as we will never agree.

Enough of DC, the thread here says MCU. For the future movies I'm really looking forward to Captain America: Civil War. It has the potential to be the most awesome MCU movie as the storyline it is borrowing from is pretty awesome and who isn't looking forward to Iron Man vs Captain America. The addition of Spider-man to the franchise in that movie is just the icing on the cake
Same here, civil war will be awesome. I think it's almost certain spidey will be in it. What I wonder is if and when the winter soldier/Bucky will take up the mantle of captain america. Or will it be Falcon? Crossbones survived from winter soldier too; another feud to look forward to.

Have you read the Demon cycle by Peter V brett. ?
I liked Mirror empire by Kameron Hurley, it was...different. Also City of stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett, and The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker this Harry august book I'm reading ain't half bad either

I don't like cliffhangers but golden son is the expection I kept rereading the final Chapter for clues for how it all played out. Can't wait for the third one.
I like the 1st book but providence of Fire, not so much the three sibling especially Valyn kept making stupid decisions that took the joy out of the book from me am sure I'll read them again once the date of the next book is announced.
Now You've have to recommend a fantasy novel for me.
Have you read the Demon cycle by Peter V brett. ?
True. It's the moral ambiguity I love about it.
Demon cycle....hmm. Loved the 1st, the 2nd was just there but the 3rd is the best so far. This new one though, Skull throne, I don't know what to say. Hustled a copy cos I anticipated it so much and in the end was so disappointed. Don't want to give away spoilers. Have you read it yet?

1)i m pretty sure batman killed miranda tate. he also didnt mind letting ras al ghul die and seemed alright with catwoman killing bane.
2)superman killing does not in anyway make him dark. besides, its not like he had anyother choice.
please remind me who miranda is again, I can't remember. As for RAG and Bane, yeah. In his words " I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you". Big difference there.
About Superman you have to admit this version of him is darker than what we are used to and there is always a choice.

Its about the rivalry between Madrid and Barcelona.
If you looking for a good read, try "Red Rising" and the sequel "golden Son" its the best book have read so far this year you'll recognize elements from popular YA books but trust me you won't be able to drop it. Check out the reviews for the book.
I thinks it has more to do with me, than Sanderson (he also doesn't use Curse words) seen as how popular he is with the Genre.
Thanks. read both and loved them! Red rising especially. Didn't like how Golden Sun ended; left me heartbroken. seems we share a similar taste in books except for Sanderson lol. Have you read Providence of Fire by Brian Staveley? that's the best book I've read this year. the 1st book in the series was ok but this one was just wow

how exactly was the movie a failure when it made over 600 million dollars (more successful than any marvel origin movie barring GOTG).
and how exactly was that a bad depiction of superman?
what made him a "dark psychotic muderer".
ws it when he saved those oil workers on the rig?
when he saved a bus full of children while risking exposure?
all the times he saved lois?
or when he chose he s adopted homeworld over his own people and saved everyone frm potential annialation at the hands of the world engine?
how about when he sacrificed his morality and killed zod who not only put an innocent family in immediate danger but had sworn to murder everyone of the planet?

pls be specific.
Marvel made a solid unspectacular start to their MCU when they made Iron Man. That movie is 10 years old but I enjoyed it when i watched it again recently. DC chose to start in a spectacularly controversial way with Man of Steel and somehow I don't think that movie will still be worth watching in a decade's time.
That aside which of DC's current movie slate are you most excited about? I personally think Sucide Squad will be great. Batman Vs Superman I'm not sure about. I already hate the title

man of steel
Thanks for the clarification. I didn't like Man of Steel but I don't think it was a failure either. In terms of the box office it certainly didn't fail. If you meant it in terms of the creative direction they took Superman then I agree with you. Batman doesn't kill his enemies for a good reason. Even at his darkest point in the Dark Knight Trilogy he still didn't kill anyone and he's supposed to be the most amoral member of Justice League. So making Supes that dark doesn't make sense to me.

Something about sanderson books I don't really enjoy obviously I have to make an exception for this book.

My most anticipated MCU movies are Dr Strange and Cap America 3:Civil War.They are both due next year so I just wish we could skip 2015 and all the Avengers hype.Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D seriously disappointed me so I dunno if I'll be watching MCU series anytime soon.Daredevil and Agent Carter both had nice trailers but I have being deceived before. Never again!

Fantasy is my favourite genre and have read all the aforementioned book.
I haven't started the stormlight series because Its going to be 10 books long.
Concerning whether its the greatest in this genre, try The king Killer Chronicles by Patrick rothfuss and see how fast you rethink that opinion.
Nice to meet lovers of fantasy! both series are great, but I'll wait for them to be completed before judging which is better. For now though, I'm leaning towards Stormlight archive.
Currently reading The First 15 Lives of Harry August, page 560. Good book this

I thought Vibranium was practically indestructible.

Anyway I hope this Avengers isn't like the comedy show that was the prequel. They need to tone down the one liners and crank up the seriousness.
Shield's being broken before in the comics. Vibranium is almost indestructible, not totally. methinks it'll be something from outer space; the comic con teaser showed Stark looking up to the sky in that scene.
Think we can safely say this sequel will be more serious, and darker with less comic elements. Ultron doesn't kid around like Loki
