Capital Oil CEO, Ifeanyi Ubah has been in DSS net for more than two weeks now and counting without being charged for a crime and surprisingly, Nigeria legal system is condoning this foolish act. The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Sunday has demanded the immediate release of Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, the Managing Director of Capital Oil.

Ubah, who was picked up some days ago by the Department of State Services, DSS, has remained in detention. In a press statement issued by the Secretary General of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike he described the oil mogul’s arrest as a continuation of endless persecution of Ndigbo by the present administration.

While calling on the DSS to immediately free Ubah, he decried a situation where security operatives would arrest and detain a Nigerian before commencing investigation as:

“We yet again condemn this endless clamp down on Igbo sons and daughters by federal government agencies. “It has now become a tradition that no week passes by without either the EFCC or the DSS coming after an Igbo son or daughter.

“It is a sad commentary considering that these persons are always detained for a prolonged period than permitted by law. We condemn a situation where people are detained before investigations are carried out on the issues leading to their arrest. “To this end, we demand the immediate release of Chief Ifeanyi Ubah. If the DSS is sure he has committed any offence he should be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction.

“We say enough to the persecution of Ndigbo in this country. This idea of silencing every opposing voice will not augur well for our democracy”, the youths said.

The OYC also in the statement saluted the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu on his 55th birthday, describing him as a good ambassador of Ndigbo. According to them:

“he has demonstrated a capacity as a political leader who has refused to sacrifice the interest of Ndigbo on the altar of personal gains. “Chief Ekweremadu has remained one of the few voices that have refused to be silenced but had continued to champion the interest of Ndigbo.

“We salute him and assure him of our continuous support to him; the entire Igbo youths are solidly behind him because he has proved to be a man we can trust.”

Thank God the music industry wasn't thrown into mourning yesterday as Alhaji Sulaimon Alao Adekunle aka Malaika survived an accident on Ikorodu Road on Saturday 13th May 2017.

While going to perform at an event in Festac, Lagos, he was hit by a truck whose drive lost control at Onipanu, Bus Stop.

The white Highlander Jeep the Fuji Star was in, was totally damaged. Malaika was injured at the chest and hands. Yemi Oladehinde who drove the Jeep had minor injury on his forehead.

3 other occupants were injured as well. Malaika is currently at the hospital receiving treatment.

This is wonderful I must tell you. Davido who recently become a the father of two daughters which the latest was just born in US with her second babymama Amanda is extending his happiness to a twitter user who happened to bear the same name with him "David Adeleke.

Apparently, the twitter user is a journalist and he is soliciting for help for his tuition fees as he has been accepted for a media workshop at Yale University and had gone to Twitter to seek for financial support from friends to raise about $3,500 for his tuition fee.

Davido have accepted to help him.

FYI, I know this guy is genuine and I thank God Davido have accepted to help him. You know Nigerians have away of exploiting things, I pray people go start changing their names to that of celebrities in other to obtain money from them ....lol

Exactly 54 people went on trial in northern Nigeria on Monday 8th, 2017 on charges connected to allegations that they were celebrating a gay wedding, which is outlawed in the country. The court began hearing the case against the defendants, who have been charged with criminal conspiracy and holding an illegal gathering.

Recall that former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan signed a bill in 2014 that criminalized same-sex relationships, despite pressure from Western governments to preserve the rights of gay and lesbian people. People still think this is the reason why GEJ incurred the wrath of America an their then President, Obama.

The bill contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison and bans gay marriage, same-sex “amorous relationships” and membership of gay rights groups. Defense lawyer Kimi Appah said the gathering had been a birthday party held in April to honor a man who appeared in court.

According to PM News, “Police got wind of it, arrested them and made trumped up charges that they are trying to celebrate a gay marriage,” he told the court in Zaria, a city in the northern state of Kaduna. The man appeared in court with three other people. They were charged with criminal conspiracy and illegal gathering, to which they all pleaded not guilty. The other accused were not present as the case was adjourned.

15-year-old Fulani herdsman, Haruna Usman was convicted to death by a Kogi State High Court on Tuesday. Usman was said to have been guilty of stabbing one Happy David to death following an argument while trying to graze on the farm of the parents of the deceased.

He was said to have committed the crime on July 28, 2015 at Emiworo Village in the Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State. To prove its case against the convict, the prosecution called six witnesses and tendered six exhibits. Usman, however gave evidence for himself, and called only two witnesses.

Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, found him guilty. According to the prosecution, the deceased tried to stop Usman who was trying to graze his cows on his parents farm. Usman was said to have stabbed him in the back and ran away. Justice Ajana held the prosecution was able to prove its case that Usman killed David.

“I am, therefore, also convinced that the prosecution has proved the third ingredient of the offence of culpable homicide beyond reasonable doubt. I, therefore, in the circumstance of this case, find the accused person guilty of the offence of culpable homicide punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code.”

The judge added, “I shall, therefore, in conformity with the provision of Section 272(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code be ordering the detention of the convict at the governor’s pleasure.

“The convict shall be detained

Troubled Controversial journalist Kemi Alunloyo has resorted to begging. The handler of her account has begged fans to donate to her legal expenses, as she’s still locked in Port Harcourt prison, following the defamation law suit against her.

The handler also posted account numbers and other monetary agencies she can get money from. However some of her followers think the person now managing her account, is planning to scam them, while others have sworn never to donate.

I thought this woman actual have money. What of that his sugar boy or boyfriend she keeps blabbing about that finds his center of gravity without even opening his eyes? I bet he can't find her in prison now right?

Waiting for a child for 10 years is something that is not in the dictionary of most men in Nigeria. After marriage, if they wait till 3 or 4 years and nothing to show for it, the problem will start immediately and the in-laws pressure will become unbearable. So is a lucky game to have a man that will understand and defend you from his family.

Well this is the kind of man. After 10 years of marriage without the fruit of the womb, Mrs Ekpo Edet, a civil servant in Cross River State civil service was gifted with quintuplets and given all that she is passing through, she says she wants no more. Olanrewaju Arotimi writes.

Although, she did not bargain for it, but a woman who couldn’t conceive 10 years after marriage was shell-shocked as gets fruits of the womb five times in one fell- quintuplets in her first and only pregnancy in a decade.

So, was the case of Mrs Ekpo Edet, a civil servant in Cross River State civil service, who recently gave birth to five bouncing babies consisting of three males and two females at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar. Despite the daunting challenge of nursing five babies in a harsh economy, the middle-aged mother and administrative officer had since accepted her fate, describing the babies as marvelous and previous gifts from God.

Mrs. Ekpo disclosed that she didn’t pray to have quintuplets, but has a family tree that has a record of a delivery of a twin babies. She said at that conception she was only interested in having just a baby, and not babies, especially having been unable to have one after 10 years of marriage.

However, after the successful delivery of her babies, Ekpo noted that she, alongside her husband, Dr. Edet Effiong Ekpo, had been full of praises to God Almighty for blessing them with a set of quintuplets, after waiting upon God over the past 10 years, amidst persecution from different quarters that demand a child from her.

She reaffirmed that the babies, who are now four months old, were a reward for her waiting upon the God over the years, adding that it pays to be steadfast when trusting God for a child. Mrs Ekpo told our correspondent that her greatest challenge in bringing up the babies at the moment was that of finance, but expressed confidence that God will always cater for them. In view of the prevailing economic hardship and the enormous tasks of catering for the needs of five babies at a time, Ekpo doesn’t wish to have another set of quintuplets.

According to her, “It was marvelous having those babies. Even though I didn’t pray for it, and it just came, I give God the praise. But I wouldn’t want to have another experience. I won’t. The stress is much with this present economic situation. I won’t. Remember that we are all civil servants. I don’t have help from anywhere, except God. “Finance has been the major challenge at the moment, but I believe that with God all things are possible. God will always take care of them.”

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been voted the 2017 Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association. The France international beat the poll of the 340-strong membership ahead of Blues team-mate Eden Hazard, with Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli in third place.

Between them, Blues duo Kante and Hazard, who was the 2015 Footballer of the Year, collected more than 65 per cent of the journalists’ votes, which were spread over a record number of 17 different players.

N'Golo Kanté is a French professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for English club Chelsea and the France national team. Kanté is of Malian descent and was born March 29th, 1991 and was instrumental in Leicester’s shock Premier League triumph last season and following his £32million summer switch to west London, the midfielder looks set to collect a second successive championship medal with Chelsea now needing just two more victories to secure the title.

The 26-year-old will receive the prestigious FWA accolade, which has been awarded since 1948, at a gala dinner in London on May 18 when the association marks its 70th anniversary.

In Kante's word:

“It is a fantastic honour to win this award. With so many great players in this Chelsea squad and in the Premier League, for the Football Writers’ Association of this country to name me as their Footballer of the Year is a very proud moment in my career,” said Kante, who last month collected the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year trophy.

Five Chelsea players were nominated by FWA members, with David Luiz, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta also receiving votes.
