Former Chelsea FC goal keeper and current Arsenal FC number one goalkeeper Petr Cech has received two awards from the Guinness World Records. The Czech Republic star was rewarded for his achievements with both former club Chelsea FC and current club Arsenal FC.

Cech received the awarded for keeping 174 clean sheets between August 15, 2004 and February 7, 2016 the highest in Premier League history. He was also awarded for winning the Premier League Golden Glove with two clubs (Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC), the highest of any goalkeeper.

He shared this info on his twitter handle and wrote:

If this is in America, they will call this devastating wind a sweet name. But is not so we will go with a sandstorm. About 91 houses, 546 persons affected and 2 people were injured in aftermath of the devastating windstorm that ravaged about eight communities in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara state.

The incident which occurred in late September was reported to Nema Sokoto Operations office. An assessment team led by the agency’s head of operations, Mallam Suleiman Muhammad visited the affected places to ascertain the level of damages. Communities affected by the windstorm are Sara da Kanka, Kuka Tara, Layin Daji, Lungun Bugaje, Gumawa, Kofar Kyarawa, Tankin Ruwa and Kan Wuri in Marradun LGA.

Tech giants Samsung has withdrawn all of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones from sale globally after a spate of fires involving “safe” replacements. In a statement issued late on Monday, Samsung said consumers with original Note 7 devices or replacements they obtained after the recall should turn off the power and seek a refund or exchange them for different phones.

South Korean authorities said they had found a new product defect in the Note 7 – Samsung’s most popular smartphone – and also asked consumers to power them down or to exchange them. The statement did not identify the defect. The company’s shares dropped 7.5% on Tuesday, the biggest daily percentage decline since 2008, wiping more than $18bn off its value.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said it is continuing to investigate at least five incidents of fire or overheating reported since a formal recall was announced on 15 September. “No one should have to be concerned their phone will endanger them, their family or their property,” Elliot Kaye, chairman of the safety commission, said in a statement. He called Samsung’s decision to suspend all sales “the right move” in light of “ongoing safety concerns”.

The announcement follows several new incidents of overheating last week and deals a further blow to the world’s largest smartphone company. Leading wireless carriers have already said they would stop distributing new Note 7 phones as replacements for the earlier recall. Analysts say the new problems pose a crisis for the South Korean tech giant, which is locked in fierce competition with Apple and other leading smartphone makers.

“This has been a real black eye on the product,” said Ben Bajarin, a consumer tech industry analyst with the Creative Strategies firm. What if I was driving in the car? You just don’t know when it’s going to take place. It’s like a ticking time bomb.

The gunmen were said to have also fired a warning shot while conversing with the families on the telephone as the families reportedly begged, promising to pay the ransom, Punch reports. On Monday it was gathered that one of the schoolboys fell sick in the kidnappers’ hideout, as the attackers warned the families to hurry up on the payment of the ransom.

The kidnappers, who reportedly told the family of the affected schoolboy that they had administered treatment to him, later reduced the ransom to N3.5m for each of the victims. By Monday, the ransom was reportedly reduced to N1m for each of the victims. “While the family members begged them, the kidnappers let them realise that the health of the boy had worsened, but they would not release him without a good ransom. They had come down from N3.5m to N1m ransom.

“The boy’s family has been able to raise some money and they were begging the gunmen to accept what they had. I hope the kidnappers will have mercy and consider the condition of the sick pupil, and let him go.” Another source close to the family of one of the victims, said the family members had raised three-quarter of the ransom, adding that the money was not sourced from the government.

“It is true that they called to warn the parents that the boy’s health is deteriorating. They told them to bring the ransom before Wednesday. The family has been able to raise three-quarter of the money. “They are rallying round for the remaining sum. Nobody from any quarters is assisting them to raise the ransom. They are begging the kidnappers and trying to meet the deadline.”

Meanwhile, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has ordered the demolition of shanties around creeks and waterways in the state.

Abuja witness yet another music and fun trills yesterday night. The 2nd concert of the 2016 Star Music "The Trek" took place yesterday 8th October at Old Parade Ground, FCT Abuja. The music concert sponsored by Star lager featured blockbuster performances from Falz, Davido, M.I, Ice Prince and Darey.

Not even the heavy rain could dampen the party mood. The Abuja audience remained resilient to have a fun night and they did just that.

Two more army officers have been arrested for allegedly partaking in the abduction of Margaret Emefiele, wife of Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, PremiumTimes reports.

According to the news platform, the State Security Service and the Police arrested Musa Maidabara, a corporal attached to the 322 Artillery Regiment, and Edwin George of 371 Artillery Regiment in Maiduguri. They were reportedly arrested with cash amounting to N15 million at different locations.

It was learnt that both suspects are students of Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies in Makurdi. Maidabara was reportedly arrested along Benin-Asaba Road while George was nabbed at his hometown in Otukpo.

The news platform reports that Maidabara had kept the money with his brother, also a soldier at 14 Field Engineer Regiment, Onitsha. The suspects were also reported to have possessed two Honda Accord cars when they were arrested. A senior police official in Delta State confirmed to PremiumTimes that he was aware of the arrest of one of the soldiers.

It is pathetic that our judiciary have no say in a country who proud themselves as democratically incline nation. After waking up to news of abduction of judges by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerians have taken to Twitter to denounce what they call Gestapo-style arrests without following due process.

Most of the blame has gone directly to Pres. Muhammadu Buhari whose office is operationally in charge of the DSS. One voice coming loud, clear, and strong is that of the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, who has called the simultaneous sting operation across half a dozen states as “intimidation of the judiciary”.

The Vice President and Professor, Yemi Osinbajo has never lashed out like this before. He described any official who is in government solely to accumulate wealth as "mad people" According to Punch reports, the vice president made this comment while receiving a delegation of Christian Ministers Welfare Initiative also known as the Pastors’ Forum, Taraba State, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Osinbajo said President Muhammadu Buhari was always telling him that the only thing he wanted was to see Nigeria great “This morning, I had a meeting with the President and he repeated to me twice, he said ‘at my age, there is only one thing I am looking for, I want to see a great Nigeria.’ He has no other objective and I feel very inspired by that.” He said anyone who had the opportunity to be president should look towards making the country better.

“It is madness for anybody in our position to be looking for money. “According to him, God put people in a position of authority for them to be able to do something for their people. “I think if any Nigerian gets the chance to be President of the country, there is nothing he/she is looking for anymore, except that, while there, you improve the lot of the people.”

Osinbajo said the level of corruption recorded in Nigeria was enough to throw the country into recession. He expressed sadness in the fact that while the north east was being ravaged by Boko Haram, the country could not account for $15bn meant for the purchase of arms. He said Nigeria had lost several millions of barrels of crude oil due to the activities of militants in the Niger Delta and that this has also affected generation of power due to shortage of gas.

The vice president said at the time they were destroying pipelines, they were still being paid their stipend. “Nothing changed, the only reason is that we are investigating people who have stolen money.” He said one billion barrels of oil was lost per day due to the activities militants and said no country would lose that and not be affected by economic challenges.

“There is no question at all, God has a reason for bringing us in at this time and God helping us, we will see a change in this country.” He said criminals were responsible for herdsmen violent attacks and said President Buhari had ordered soldiers to deal with them.

Anambra State Police Command has declared wanted, Chief Emmanuel Nwude, (Owelle Abagana) over involvement in a case of conspiracy, malicious damage, murder, act of terrorism and attack on policemen. Chief Nwude, from Umudunu, Abagana is a convicted Advance-Fee fraudster. He and his accomplices were in 2005 convicted by a federal high court for pulling the biggest 419 fraud in history.

Before his conviction, Nwude was the biggest shareholder in Union Bank Plc, and had controlling shares in several banks and blue chip companies. In a plea-bargain handled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chief Nwude agreed to forfeit cash and property to the tune of 120 million US dollars.

The agency seized several of his properties, including the popular Febson Mall, Abuja, a glass tower in Ikoyi and choices cars. He is believed to have tens of millions of dollars stashed in the accounts of fronts in Nigeria and overseas.

A report on by Encomium magazine suggest that Actor Kalu Ikeagwu whom people thought was abducted by gunmen in front of the gate of his home in the Ogba area of Lagos around 3:40 yesterday Monday, September 26th, was actually arrested by security agents following a robbery and homicide case.

Kalu who got married in June this year, was picked up by the police at his Gbagba Crescent flat, off College Road, Ogba but was later released and returned home at about 8:30 pm. He informed his neighbours that his personal assistant had bought a stolen phone from Computer Village in Ikeja, and the thieves reportedly killed one of the victims of the robbery.

He told neighbours that the crime happened in Abuja, and the phone was traced to Lagos by the security agents who later came for him since his address and name were used during the purchase.

He had returned in the afternoon to drop his step daughter at home from school and had just parked his car when he received a phone call from a security agent who had been waiting for him outside his home. As soon as he stepped out of the gate, he was asked if indeed he was Kalu Ikeagwu, and he confirmed his identity.

He was politely invited, and when he began arguing with them they brought out their guns. Some of his Neighbours who had tried to step in, stood back as soon as they saw the guns. He was ferried away in a bus. By the time they left, his wife was crying. When he returned yesterday evening, he went round neighbours to thank them and also explain what had actually happened.

Excuse the headline i used but sometimes men are demons. A 21-year old woman was stabbed 22 times by her jilted lover on Tuesday morning in full public view in Burari, north Delhi, India and nobody came to her rescue.

The video footage shows the assailant chasing the woman and stabbing her, and as she fell to the ground, the man continued stabbing her as passers-by walked past while others watched in fear. One Passer-by tried to intervene but was threatened by the monstrous assailant who pointed the knife he was holding at him. When it seemed like she was unconscious, he flipped her to the other side and continued stabbing her. At one point he kicked her in the head after trying to choke her.

The woman identified as Karuna, a teacher, was brought dead at Sushruta Trauma Centre in ISBT. "The woman was stabbed publicly in Burari area at 9am by the accused, named Surender Singh, 34, who was known to her. No one came to her rescue," Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma told reporters.

He was later chased by the public and beaten up and handed over to police. The assailant had been troubling the woman since a year or so. The family had lodged a complaint four-five months back and both the families had reached a compromise. The suspect's divorce case was ongoing. There were 22 stab wounds on the deceased's body," the officer added.

Some people don't just have fear of God. The police has announced the arrest of a graduate of political science, Jehu Kwasu who defrauded prominent Nigerians by impersonating Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah. According to the Punch, Kwasu admitted in his confession that he made about N5.7m from some of the prominent Nigerians he defrauded through his impersonation.

In his confession, he stated that his victims, were Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide, the Chairman, Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko, Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu and businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.

He said:

“I collected N500,000 from Otudeko, CEO, Honeywell: From Admiral Kanu, I got N500,000. I also got N500,000 from Bishop Oyedepo and N2m from Dantata. I also got money from Gen. Wushishi and others. “I opened a Guaranty Trust Bank account in Bishop Kukah’s name. I registered a SIM card in my name, but used Bishop Kukah’s picture on my True Caller account, so that when I call, his picture would appear (on the recipient’s phone.)”

Kwasu, who is son of late Anglican Bishop, James Kwasu, also used his father’s name to extort money from the Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari, when he was the Speaker, House of Representatives. The 25-year-old man also allegedly collected the sums for Internally Displaced Persons.

He also said - “I called people on the telephone and told them I was Bishop Kukah. I used his picture on my True Caller account, so that when I called people, they would think he was the one talking with them. “I also obtained a passport in Bishop Kukah’s name which I used to open an account with GTB. The money I realised was paid into the account and I used an Automated Teller Machine card to withdraw it.”
