US presidential candidate, Dr Ben Carson has announced that he will visit Nigeria later this month. He made the disclosure on Monday, December 7, 2015, during an interview with conservative radio host, Hugh Hewitt. The renowned neurosurgeon will also visit Kenya and Zambia during the trip which will begin on December 27.

“To Nigeria, I want to get an idea from the people what the effects of Boko Haram are, what people are thinking, to see what the economic situation is there, and also there’s a medical school there named after me, which I want to visit,” Carson said.

“And [I will visit] Zambia, because the twins, the Banda twins are there. We separated them. They were joined at the top of the head facing in opposite directions almost 18 years ago, and this is the year they graduate from high school,” he added.

“My ancestors are from the Kenya-Tanzania region, the Turkana tribe,” he said explaining why he would visit Kenya. Carson shot to limelight in 1997 when he performed a 22-hour surgery to separate 11-month old twins, Joseph and Luka Banda.

An unnamed source at the Department of State Security (DSS) has informed Sahara Reporters that Senate president, Bukola Saraki has admitted some security personnel attached to him stole N310 million from an operator of a bureau de change. As you know, Sahara Reporter have come under too much pressure this days for their safe-less approach on news and information to the public.

Three days ago, a reliable source had told Naij.com that three officials of the DSS in the security detail of Saraki were sacked on Monday, December 7, for their involvement in the robbery. According to Sahara Reporters, the source said the heist was led by Abdulrasheed Hamidu Maigari and George Mwatapwa Ibbi, two top members of Saraki’s security detail. Hamidu joined Saraki’s team when he emerged the Senate president earlier this year.

“He [Mr. Hamidu] was the one who organized other participants in the robbery, including the soldiers,” the source said. Seven soldiers reportedly took part in the operation. They were said to have ambushed the bureau de change operator and forced him to hand over N310m out of the funds he was going to deliver to Saraki. Hamidu hails from Dungo local government area in Taraba state and is a younger brother to Alhaji Uba Maigari Hamidu, the former deputy governor of Taraba state.

The robbery allegedly took place on Friday, November 20, but the report said both the DSS and Saraki concealed the identity of the robbery suspects in order not to publicly embarrass the Senate president and the security agency. ”The Director General [of the Department of State Security], Lawal Daura, kept the police away from the case. The Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron in Akwa Ibom state, Joshua Okpo, who is facing a N18 billion fraud allegation, was found dead in his Abuja residence yesterday Dec. 8th. According to reports, Okpo had traveled to Abuja to appear before the senate committee on Transportation when he slumped and died in his home. His colleagues who traveled to Abuja with him had arrived the National Assembly and was waiting for his arrival. When he did not show up and was not taking any of their calls, they decided to visit his home where they found him dead.

Last week, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi had ordered an investigation into the misappropriation of N18 billion meant for the academy since Okpo assumed office as the rector of the academy from 2009 to 2015. Nigerians have been known as people who can do practically anything to get away from being prosecuted and Onwuasonya Augustine proved that notion right. He was charged to court on Tuesday by the EFCC for allegedly swallowing $115,000 to avoid declaring it to officials of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. He was arraigned along with five other alleged accomplices, Christian Okoli, Kingsley Nwokenta, aka Buchito, Nwokenta Emmanuel, Ezenwa Ikenna and Ezenwa Uzoma for the offence of money launderin.

The six were charged with four counts before Justice C.J. Aneke of a Federal High Court in Lagos. The agency alleged that Onwuasonya and the 5 others committed the offence on August 25, 2015, and were apprehended at Room 303 of a five-star hotel in Lagos. The sixth accused, Uzoma, was singularly charged with the offence of obstructing an NDLEA official, Bello Tsanya, in the discharge of his duty.

However, when the charges were read to the six accused in court, they all pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor said:

“In view of the plea of the accused, I respectfully pray the honourable court for a trial date to enable us bring our witnesses. However, I will also be praying that the accused persons be remanded in prison pending trial.”

But the counsel for the 1st to 5th accused, Mr. Victor Opara, told the court that he had filed bail applications on their behalf stating that the 2nd defendant had health challenges, which were being treated while he was in the custody of the EFCC.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to defending free speech, which he said is the practice of any democracy across the world. Reacting to the public criticism of the proposed social media bill by the Senate, in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, Buhari sworn to defend the constitution of Nigeria.

"But he is not averse to lawful regulation, so long as that is done within the ambit of the constitution which he swore to uphold", the statement said. The President noted that free speech enables elected officials gauge public feelings and moods about governance issues.

Buhari added that people in democratic societies “are so emotionally attached to free speech that they would defend it with all their might.”

Shehu said that the President is aware of the public outcry over the bill, assuring that it is under control “because the Senate is a democratic senate. The President won’t assent to any legislation that may be inconsistent with the constitution of Nigeria.”

A mechanical genius from Imo state has built an amazing prototype excavator which he hopes will bring great benefit to Nigeria. (Scroll down for video). Fidellis Nwachukwu displayed his prototype excavator at the Abuja international motor fair. He said he has no formal training in engineering or mechanics and that it was in fact a vision from God that inspired him to make the excavator.

“I am truly gifted from God and I have the spirit that enlightens me on what to do,” he said.

Aside from being motivated by what he believes to be divine inspiration, Nwachukwu exhibits a laudable motivation to use his work to help his country. “I have a lot to offer my country, my plan is to develop this excavator. We all know that Nigeria is technologically challenged, and we Nigerians and the government are ignorant about this. I have a lot to offer my country, my plan is to develop this excavator.”

She said when neighbors saw her blood stained clothes, they went into her home to find her son’s head separated from her body.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state, in a statement, has called for calm, while warning those trying to cause trouble in the state, using the Biafra agitations in the South-East as a platform, to desist from their evil act. Sun Newspapers reports that the Kaduna state Governor, through his media aide, Samuel Aruwan said “The Kaduna State Government has appealed to all residents of the state to remain calm, and continue with their lawful activities.

“Following reports of the recent violent agitations in parts of the South-East zone, the government urges our communities to shun any and every attempt at provocation. It is clear that some elements in the polity wish to divide our people, and to profit from discord.”

He referred to those planning to cause violence in Kaduna state as losers, adding that they will not escape justice.

“Let us all say ‘Never Again’ to the profiteers of strife, whose bread is buttered by communal and religious violence. Let us keep the peace, promote harmony and uphold each other in our God-given common humanity,” the Governor said. Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage in an interview with Genevieve Magazine has explained why she and her husband , Tee billz decided to keep the face of the boy away.

According to her,

‘Well that’s his dad’s decision. Every mother wants everyone to see the picture of her baby. I want everyone to see how cute he is but I understand my husband’s perspective too. He is the head of the house so I have to respect his wishes. Eventually, we will reveal his face but for now, he wants only close family and friends to have the special moment to bond and not share it with the world yet.’

She also reflected on motherhood so far, recounting how it was hard to bond with her child after he was born.

‘I’m going to be as candid as I can be and Genevieve is the only press I’ve ever told. They say you bond instantly with your baby but I didn’t have that instant connection. I was in a 20-hour labour and just when I was about to push him out, his heart rate dropped, so there was a lot of panic in the room and we were all in tears. Then, when he eventually came out, everyone screamed “congratulations” and they had to put him on my chest to bond. Instead, when they did, I said “he is beautiful, but can I sleep for just one hour?”

My night of terror!!!

You never know how safe you are till your space is violated, until you have been terrorized and traumatized. I had my own 9/11 one fateful night in September 2011 about 11.30pm. The peace of the Punk Palace was shattered. My wife and I were rudely awakened by screaming, shouting, general pandemonium at my gate. I quickly zoomed in my CCTV to see what the commotion was about. I saw my two security guards trying to contain an intruder who had invaded my residential home. In the confusion that ensured, I picked up one of my automatic pistol and headed to the gate house to see what was going on.

Meanwhile I kept hearing the screaming and breaking of glasses. My wife was visibly shaken, I didn’t really know what to make of it but I felt safer with my gun in my hand. As I came face to face with the intruder I heard him chanting Allah hakuba, it then dawned on me what I was dealing with. One quick look around, I saw the windscreen of all my cars had all been broken by the intruder. There was blood scattered everywhere apparently he had cut the ears of one of my security guards and had stabbed the other in the chest.

As I raised my pistol to shoot this motherf**ker, the sound I heard was, click!!!!! I forgot to load that particular gun. By the time I ran upstairs to get my Ak47, the man had escaped leaving my security guards seriously injured. Through out that night all the policemen at the neighborhood police post and I searched all over for the intruder and never found him. Since then I have bought more guns, taught my wife how to shoot and put a disclaimer in front of my house with this signage. WE SHOOT TO KILL. I swear that man would have been my first Kill.

Fast-rising Nollywood actress, Ijeoma Diana Neife, is gradually gaining popularity among movie lovers in Nigeria because of her acting skills. Ijeoma has featured in movies like Royal Mission, Throne of Obstacles, Run Away Prince, Ogadimma, Saint Ossia, Commander Osufia, Igene, Deadly Escape and others.

She disclosed to an entertainment outfit in an interview that there should still be sanity among actresses in the industry. The actress explained how she delved into the industry after studying Chemical Engineering in the university and how several producers and directors approached her demanding for her body in exchange for movie roles.

Can we know how acting started for you?
My name is Ijeoma Diana Neife. Well, it has always been what I wanted for myself because I always represented my school at the NTA Enugu during stage plays and all that during my primary and secondary schools but my daddy always wanted me to study Chemical Engineering. When I graduated, I joined the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to pursue my dreams. I joined AGN in 2013, when I was 23 years old.

What were your parents’ reactions when you opted for acting?
I will say it was not easy but my parents are very understanding and believe in people following their dreams. My father just said if I must be an actor, I must first get a degree in engineering.

Who is the lucky guy caring for you?
(Laughs), I prefer to keep it private.

Meeting someone on social media and falling in love with the person is dicey. Can't say the same of this lady because she cannot narrate the story by herself. Meet 25-year-old Sharae Bradford, a single mother of one who was murdered by her male Facebook friend the first time he visited her apartment in Ferguson.

According to police investigation, Miss Bradford allegedly agreed to sex for money with her killer. She was found lying lifeless in the pool of her blood on Saturday the 28th of November 2015. The suspect, Stassie Greer was later seen leaving Bradford’s apartment around 5:30pm. He was seen attempting to hide his face.
