The champions have made a horror start to the season, with Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Liverpool leaving them 15th on the table with 11 points from as many games but Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel insists the team remains behind under-fire manager Jose Mourinho.

However, Mikel Obi, who started both the Capital One Cup loss to Stoke and the Reds reverse, is adamant Mourinho still has control of the Blues dressing room "We are right behind the manager," Mikel said in The Guardian. "There's no doubt about it. In training we work very hard. If anyone can turn this around, we definitely think he's the one.

"Last year we were champions. We won two trophies. Jose knows this club more than any other manager. He's the most successful manager in the club's history. "I definitely think that, if anything is wrong, if anything can be fixed, he is the one. There's no one out there that is going to come in and fix what's going on.

"If you tell the team that we are not giving 100 percent then there is the doubt, but we are giving 100 percent, we are playing for the manager, we are right behind him. The ugly incident happened on Gbagada Road, in Bariga, Lagos on Friday night October 9th. The woman, who is said to be about 6 months pregnant (pictured below in hospital) was attacked with hot water by a neighbour during a fight in their compound.

The attacker has been arrested while the pregnant woman is receiving treatment. The case is being handled by the police at CMS police station, Bariga.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has apologized for his role in the controversy that has embroiled the national team in the past few days. Enyeama clashed with Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh at the national team base in Belgium, the Hotel Verviers.

The goalkeeper claimed that he clashed with Oliseh after he dropped him as captain of the national team and also accused the coach of ordering security to embarrassed and strip him naked. Enyeama also alleged that Oliseh insulted his late mum during their altercation, an allegation the Super Eagles coach has denied.

The Lille goalkeeper who has announced his retirement from the Super Eagles took to his Instagram in the early hours of today, to apologise in his role in the saga.

“I am very sorry for being the reason that all this things are happening.God bless NIGERIA#wearenigeria,” Enyeama wrote on Instagram. A student's letter explaining why men and women are not equal in his engineering class has gone viral gathering over 1.4million likes on Facebook alone. Jared Maudlin, a senior in mechanical engineering at Eastern Washington University in the US, wrote to the editor of the student paper after seeing his female counterparts struggle to have their voices be heard in STEM subjects.

“To the women in my engineering classes,” writes Jared Mauldin, a senior at Eastern Washington University. “While it is my intention in every other interaction I share with you to treat you as my peer, let me deviate from that to say that you and I are in fact unequal….I did not for example, grow up in a world that discouraged me from focusing on science.” With eloquence, this mechanical engineering senior goes on to address many of the societal challenges facing women enteri...ng STEM careers.

Women are dramatically underrepresented in many STEM fields, particularly engineering: in 2012, only 18% of engineering bachelor’s degrees in the US were granted to women. It's also common for women who graduate from engineering programs to leave the profession, often because of discrimination and hostile work environments -- something Mauldin also tackles in his letter to the editor published in the current issue of his college newspaper, The Easterner. “I have had no difficulty whatsoever with a boys club mentality, and I will not face added scrutiny or remarks of my being the ‘diversity hire.’ When I experience success, the assumption of others will be that I earned it.”

Mauldin also addresses the societal attitudes that teach girls that intelligence and ingenuity are not what we celebrate in women: “I was not bombarded with images and slogans telling me that my true worth was in how I look, and that I should abstain from certain activities because I might be thought too masculine. I was not overlooked by teachers who assumed that the reason I did not understand a tough math or science concept was, after all, because of my gender… So, you and I cannot be equal. You have already conquered far more in this field than I will ever face.”

At least 17 people lost their lives in a restaurant explosion in Wuhu City, East China's Anhui Province today being Saturday at noon.

The explosion occurred at 11:57 AM in a small private restaurant on Yangjiaxiang Street in the city's Jinghu (Mirror Lake) District. The explosion was caused by Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leakage and flames instantly engulfed the restaurant.

An unknown man today, October 5 did what is unbelievable in the sight of onlookers around yaba and environs. The man allegedly bathed a mad man in broad day light at Yabatech Bus stop on Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, Lagos. The unknown man is said to have removed the mad man’s clothes, bath him and gave him new clothes and left.

Recently, a popular mad man in Ketu area of Lagos state received his sanity.
