Kolombunje or whatever you call yourself. For the record I,ve been to the US more than 20 times. Just because you're there you think that you know everything about the west. You're the one who should go and do your research before you post shit. Anyway who do you think you're, a proffesor of knowledge. Learn some manners big boy! There are polite ways to correct someone. I think that you're one those Africans who are on a daily basis being dicriminated against and being told to go back home to the jungle(Africa). YOU MUST LEARN SOME MANNERS.

I had to use the example of South Africa because I live in South Africa. I can't determine whether Nigeria is a third world country or what as I've only been to Abuja. There is this notion that Europe is first world, is rich. The reality is that only Western Europe, Scandanavia and USA are actually the so called first world. I have been to Portugal and Italy, and what I realised is that just like America, the West always hide their poor and destitute, just like Brazil. The are so many poor people in Philadelphia and Texas. But we're only shown New York, LA, Chicago.

I find the fact that other countries can come to a conclusion that others are third world and they are first world. What criteria was used to judge other countries. Who gave them the right or the go ahead to determine what is what. For instance I find it hard to believe that China can be labeled a developing country (so called third world) and a country like Italy be labeled a first world country. Italy has one of the most worn out infrastructure in the world, be it sporting infrustructure and buildings, their economy is not as big as the Chinese economy. With China I'm telling you that country's infrustructure is even better than what the Americans and the West have. The sporting infrustructure, the buildings in Shanghai and Beijing etc are top class. But hey! for the Europeans, China is third world. The crux of the matter is that countries like South Africa,Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Malaysia, India,China, and to some extent Tunisia can no longer be classified as third world. Those who always come with terms to determine ones beign can simply call these countries second world.

When it comes to Nigeria, I think that the country have lots of potential, but I don't think it can be seen in the same light as countries like Zimbabwe, Somalia, Cameroon, Ivory Coast etc. I actually believe that Nigeria and Egypt can do better than what they're doing right now. I mean for god sake Nigeria is one of the biggest oil producing countries. Post apartheid South Africa don't have the luxury of producing oil, but at least we've made use of the gold, platinum and diamond that are mined in the country. Nigeria produces lots and lots of academics, I actually believe that Nigerians are actually the most educated people on the continent. Why is their country struggling. I personally think that the reason Nigeria is not economically strong is the fact that most of the educated Naijas leave the country for Britain and the US. Why go and grow economies that are already strong, why don't you stay home and help in making Nigeria the giant that it is. People will continue to look down or not take Nigeria serious if it continues to be a regional powerhouse rather than being a continental giant. Nigeria is supposed to be with South Africa in the top five developing nations. During the apartheid era South Africa was not as strong as it is right now. Yes I agree that the economy is still 70% in the white hands, but we have used that to our advantage. Today we're a global player with so much influence. South Africa is the only black country at the G8 + O5 Summit.

You can't blame us for the fact that Sudananese are killing each other. As for Zimbabwe, the president has done everything in his power to talk to Mugabe. Anyway don't tell me about BBC and CNN. Those are racist organisations with no backbone just like you (thor)!

People like you expected South Africa to be the US and UK lapdogs when we joined the security council. Unfortunatly we're not gonna do that. South Africa is a non alligned country. We only do business with the west. When coming to forming unholy alliances with devils like George Bush and Gordon Brown, don't expect to see us there.

We have our own interests with our fellow top 5 developing countries. (Brazil, India, Mexico, China and South Africa) These countries form what we call the outrich 5. They form what we call the G13 when meeting with the G8.

Fistly let me address tpia! dude i did not join nairaland to argue with people like you! If you're proudly Nigerian then what the hell are you doing in New Zealand. For the record, the reason I joined Nairaland is that, it was recommended to me by my Nigerian friend who reside in South Africa. Another reason I joined is that I find Nigerians to be some of the most free spirited people in Africa. They have a great sense of humour. Its always nice to debate with them. Most of them have the western culture of debating in a liberal and democratic manner. As for you tpia! You have a tendency of always wanting to be right. Not everybody will like you, or agree with you.

Morpheus I get your point and to some extent I agree with you, South Africans need to make it a point that they learn about their fellow African brothers. The apartheid regime made them believe that other Africans are sub human! This again goes back to the issue of the media. The media is a powerful tool that have created most of the problems that we have today. The one thing that I have picked up from our media is that whenever the president of our sports teams go to other African countries you'll get reports like e.g " Bafana Bafana will be going to Africa to play Nigeria in a friendly match" Statements like this gives you a hint that most South Africans don't think that they belong to Africa. With the recent xenophobic attacks, there are strong possibilities that there might be a third force that was behind those attacks.

The thing is most South Africans don't see anything that Africa can offer to them. Yes we're African, but most South Africans have never been to other African countries. I blame the education system and our government to an extent to this. Your elemantary school kids up to the Universities are not taught anything about the African culture. That's why if you ask most South Africans on what is the capital of Ghana they wont even answer you. If you can ask them on what is the capital of Australia you'll get a straight answer from them. The reason for this is that for e.g our Sporting codes have forged ralationships with Australia and New Zealand when coming to sports, as the three countries are part of the southern hemisphere. With sports we've managed to gorge relations with Australia and New Zealand.

Why don't we do the same with Africa. Sports always play that role of bringing people together. Our Universities have student exchange programmes with the Canadian. European, Brazillian and American universities. Why don't we do the same with African countries, so that we can learn from each other. These stereotypes of saying Nigerians are noisy, South Africans arrogant etc, will never end.

Another thing that make South Africans to dislike most African foreigners is that most Africans have the sense of entitlement and most of them are cocky. One thing I've realised about South Africans is that most of them are untrusting of strangers, they're also short tempered and always quick to react. South Africans generally don't have a problem with North Africans as when the're in the country they always behave. East Africans are always well behaved. The reason why Zimbabwean and Mozambiquans are hated is the fact that they commit the most crime. Do you know that the most wanted criminal of the last two years was a Mozambiquan guy. Most people don't even know that Lucky Dube was killed by Mozambiquan thugs.

Just imagine if a Ghanaian national can kill a popular musician in Nigeria. Surely knowing Nigerians, I think the would be a Ghanaian backlash. Thats human nature.

Race relations in South Africa is like in USA and Brazil. But mainly our system is like the one in the USA. Just like in the states the areas are divided. In the states you have the hood or the ghetto, while in South Africa we have the townships. Racial segregation has ruled the two countries for two centuries. After 1994 in South Africa thing improved. Blacks, Whites and Indians mingle freely and even marry each other. Yes just like in Europe and America we also have right wing, racist whites. But besides that race relations have improved. The only thing that makes our so called fellow Africans hate us is that we don't have any connection with the continent in terms of the way of life and also the culture. The only thing binding us together is the skin colour and the geographic location of our country. You average South Africans don't even know some of the countries in the continent. Two of the most well known countries are Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

What I want to tell Nigerians is that we never choose to live like this. Nobody called white people to South Africa. To tell the truth, I'm glad they came. Our standard of living is way much better than of any country in Africa. Many South Africans don't even see a need to seek a better life in America or Britain. Many Africans who are in Europe or America always say that they're exploring, that's a lie. Many of you are escaping poverty in your countries. I've been to Ibadan and also Lagos. The level of poverty in these towns is no difference to other countries like Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon etc. Yes we have poverty in South Africa, but that is a drop in the ocean compered to Africa.

People can insult us and call us names, but I' proud that I'm living in a cultural melting pot. I don't need buy a plane ticket to see white, Indians and other tribes. I have them right here. I have Indian, Chinese and white friends. I have learned about ther culture and they've learned about mine. I proudly South African

The question is not when, is who! The answer is simple, South Africa is the only country capable of hosting olympics. We have the infrustructure and it will be after the we hosted the biggest sports event, even bigger than the Olympics. So frankly speaking its only us who have the capacity of hosting such an event. We also wont need to build an olympic stadium. The world cup stadium in Durban will be a multi use stadium with athletics track. The stadium is 65% done for the 2010 world cup. The dome is a 80 000 all seater that will be suitable for the olympics. The other coutries that can host the event besides SA, are Egypt and Nigeria but they would need a lot of work to do.

On the issue of crime, I think we will manage. We hosted the Rugby and Cricket world cups and not a single inccident was reported. Somebody was stabbed to death at the Beijing olympics but everybody was quite. Had it happed in South Africa you would have never heard the end of it. Still on crime, our police have promised to be brutal to anyone who commits acts of crime during the world cup, be it a South African or a foreigner.

RSA when I said most black women are ugly, the was no malice intended. I'm a liberal by heart and soul, I speak my mind. When people insult us and call us AIDS carriers we never complain. I've been called names, but you never here me complain. I'm not racist, but my view is most black women are ugly. Why do Nigerians take everything personal. Pls take a chill pill. The British have called the Dutch ugly, they have also called the Germans grumpy, but you'll never here the German and the Dutch saying they hate the English to an extent of personally insulting them. On the issue of AIDS, i think some of the Nigerians here behave as if they're from a first world country that doesn't even have one desease. With AIDS you have a choice( keep your f**^$n digg in your pants). If you don't have money to pay for the world cup tickets don't come up with stupid excuses for not attenting the world cup.

Now if you wanna be safe, these are the places to avoid. They're like the Brazillian and Colombian favelas. In South Africa we call them the shantytowns or skwatta camps.

We're a trully sporting nation. I accept that we're not as good as Nigeria when coming to football. The thing is in Nigeria footaball is the most popular sport just like in Brazil. Unlike in South Africa, in Nigeria it seems as if the whole country support football. As for us our popular sports are football, rugby and cricket. We like football but not like Nigerians. At least we have some sports that we can follow.

Ja well I know that most African people don't like us, we're used to that. Some of the insfrastructure was inherited from the apartheid government. So what about the stadiums that the government is building now. The stadiums that are being build now by the so called black government are going to be even more beatiful than the ones that were build by white. As for the aids thing, I think people are being childish and stupid. If you don't want to be infected then keep your digg in your trouser. Anyway aids is every where, US, India, Brazil etc.

"Pussy Full" makes me wanna laugh when he/she says who wants to go to South Africa anyway. There are over 300 000 Nigerian brothers of his/her in Johannesburg and Pretoria. Tell them to either get a temporary VISA or the gov will drag them kicking and screaming back to Nigeria, DRC, Zimbabwe and all those African countries.

The G8 countries are right, a country like Nigeria can't be allowed to have a Nuclear Programme. The next minute a dictator will come from nowhere and use it on his own people. The thing is the Nuclear programme is a not a danger to Africa but to Nigeria itself. The only country capable of harming Nigeria is Nigeria itself.

South Africa have been having nuclear weapons for over 40 years now. We've never used them. Even the apartheid government did not use them. The nuclear programme will only be used if any country declare war on us and our neighbours that includes smaller ones like (Swaziland, Lesotho and Namibia)

Everybody hate blacks. Indians, White, Latinos, Islamists. What have black people done to deserve such hatred. My take is that blacks must take this in positive light. The fact that blacks are hated so much is that other races see them as threat. Blacks are clever people by nature, that's why every race hate them so much. If it wasn't for blacks the US would not have been so rich and beautiful. Blacks have made the USA what is it today. They have dominated the arts scene be it music and film. Its human nature to hate everything that is great and successful . eg America is hated by poor nations, Manchester United is hated lees successful clubs, South Africa is hated by other poorer African nations because of the booming economy.
What have the Chinese done really that makes them so great that they even see blacks as being sub-human. I mean thse people are ugly,shapeless,noisy and most of them are thugs.

Africa will eventually prevail!!!!!!
