Sounds to me like a business in deep waters. If a song is hot in the market, it is the job of entertainment stations such as Soundcity to give the fans what they want, how can you say you are doing Psquare a favor by playing their songs. Can MTV do Beyoncé a favor by playing her videos? Soundcity would be nowhere if they refused to play the major artiste, this is where the mutual benefits comes into play. Would Kanye West perform at an MTV concert without adequate compensation? Would Justin Timberlake perform at the SuperBowl without being paid adequately? I don't know why everything must be upside down in Nigeria!
And Psquare are the only major artistes in Nigeria? Soundcity have done the right thing, the guys obviously don't value their input, why should they continue to air them? it's their tv and they can do what they like just as psquare as shown they can do.

You talk about international artistes, different places have different cultures, do you know what it takes into the promotion of these artistes before they become starts, but in Nigeria radio and tv shows promotes them free most times, it's a mutual relationship, but if you finally 'blow' as they say, then you acted as psquare did, it's what they call UNGRATEFUL.

PoliticsHELP!!! DISCO Company ESTIMATED Billing Is Making Some Nigerians Dance Disco by mpowa(op): 12:11pm On Aug 31, 2015
I came across this from a very Concerned Nigerian Let's make this a public outcry, and stop this unfunny DISCO music.

This DISCO companies are DEFRAUDING us with this, they hide behind the

estimated bill to bring very unbearable and unimaginable monthly charges,

where I live in Fagba, we have a storey building and a boys quarter, the

story building has two flats at the upstairs and we have five self-

contained down-stairs, the two separate flats upstairs have two separate

meters and all the mini-flats down-stairs have One single meter, all these

meters are working very well, so they have no problem, each of these three

meters comes with a bill of N1000 to N1500 per month. But at the boys

quarter where I reside, there are two self-contained and our meter is not

working so they give us estimated bills, could you believe that they bring

as much as N13,000, N14,000 for our own small place alone, we don't even

have appliances, I am still a single man, so my major electric appliance

is still my Laptop and Fan, the other man uses Fridge, Tv and that's all.

We pay in a SINGLE MONTH more what all the other mini flats pay in a YEAR,

and anytime we find it hard to meet up with the exorbitant fee, they come

and cut the light, we clear the bills and pay re-connection fees to be

able to restore it, this has been going on for maybe two years now.

PLEASE I BEG YOU IN THE NAME OF GOD, HELP US, because it's affecting only

a few people, it has not become a social cry, they just do this

underground, we have sought for solutions to no avail, we've requested for

a good meter, they will say it is not available, we've seen all the people

we can possible seen, we've bribed, and all kinds, NO SOLUTION, we, at a

time said that they should close our account, it will be better for us to

be using our money for generator and fuel, but they say once NEPA account

is open, you cannot close. The most painful part is that OUR POWER IS VERY

POOR, even in this Era, of change, the supply is still very epileptic, we

need this to STOP, PLEASE HELP ALL NIGERIANS GOING THROUGH THIS. My Own

distribution company is IKEDC, Ikeja Electricity Distribution company.

Let me also say this, they brought down the fee a bit during election to

about N7,000, one month after PMB's swearing in, they did the same, but it

seems they discovered the eye of the government is not on them, they

started unleashing their Outrageous fees again from July.
PoliticsRe: Staunch Buharists, Olateju And Farouk Kperogi Criticise Buhari Over Appointments by mpowa(m): 9:55pm On Aug 28, 2015
ayinba1:
Truly, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. We are a very backward thinking people if the most recent uproar is anything to go by.

I did not support GEJ as a candidate but I hoped and prayed that he would succeed once he became president.

Until this recent scream about PMB appointing northerners, I had no idea that GEJ did similar. All I know is that most of his appointees were totally incompetent.

People should evaluate appointees based on qualifications and performance, NOT their tribe.

I fully support PMB and I am confident that even if one of these appointees underperform, he will not hesitate to give them the axe.
I did not vote him because he is a northerner, I voted him because he was the best candidate presented.
Thanks for purifying your minds
You're very correct - Our thinking is not advanced yet, that is why PMB must tread with care, Your point is nice and it's should be the ideal for any society 'MERIT', but we are not there yet, a leader should know that and give it it's place if he wants to succeed. Nigeria is still a disunited nation, we all belong here but we're not together, we're very sensitive, everyone feels marginalized in one way or the other, one of the major failures of GEJ is this very issue that's causing uproar, PMB must carry everybody along including even the Igbos whom he feels didn't vote for him. He couldn't attain presidency for long because people see him as a regional leader, he's already towing that part again.

It defies every argument that you could not find any credible person in the whole Igbo land, no matter how you want to explain merit, how can you not find credible people in other regions, are they all in your region alone? These are the simple things that you can take care of and you retain people's backing - when Nigerians are for you, they make excuse for you even when you're failing in some things, when they're against you, no matter how much you try, it is over for you. That was exactly the path that Jonathan towed, he came in with a lot of goodwill but he took the people for granted, PMB be warned!
PoliticsRe: Staunch Buharists, Olateju And Farouk Kperogi Criticise Buhari Over Appointments by mpowa(m):
sammyj:
My question to all PMB's critics is if any regional appointments has resulted to regional or national developments. likewise if GEJ's regional appointments brought about any developments to the appointees region. cool huh
What has that got to do with the fact that someone was voted for nationally but all the credible people he can find nationwide are from his own small region?

The key is to have something very, very special to showcase and to keep promoting it everyday, never relent and never give up. You don't even need to pester the established stars, one of them will discover you one day as your works spread.
CareerRe: 8 Reasons You Should Never Take A Private School Teaching Job by mpowa(m): 11:40pm On Aug 24, 2015
crazygod:
Guess that's what's killing the youths of this country. The Op definitely has a lazy mentality. So u think the points you brought up are enough to tell someone not to work in a private school? Oya go look for job in public school na if them go employ u.
Based on experience, working in a private school hands u a flexible time where u can still do ur own stuffs.
U can work part-time in different schools and still earn what all those banks dey pay their employees if u add up all incomes earned (if u're looking at it from a financial point of view)... But truth be told, the main reason why you (op) brought up this reasons is because u aint an educationist. Try setting up ur own private schools and come back here to tell me how easy it is to run it.
It's not True, everything the Op said is correct, I'm talking from experience, I couldn't have time for myself and for my personal runs (which was my idea before i got the Job), I spent the money I made on Transport and clothes(trying to look good), I resigned within just a year. There are some exceptions thou, some schools have better standards, reward their teachers well and don't load them with too much works, but they are few.

On the contrary, it is actually public schools that gives you much time for other things, the demand is less and less pressure.Considering the situation in the country, I would advise you take this job if you had no better alternative, but if you're a man(bread winner) and you have a future ambition, DON'T STAY THERE FOR LONG.

Church business is good business and the amazing thing is the government doesn't tax this business...no wonder we have churches in every street

At least this helps reduce the level of unemployment in the country
If the thing pain you go start your own church na?

I discovered that it is people who never add kobo to offerings and tithes that complain the most, abeg leave us with our gullibility and our God jare - Is it your money?

We know..

Bill Gates is a Business man that makes money from inventing things that go on to change the world and make meaning impact in people's lives and businesses and his Profit are subject to heavy taxation and other liability insurances and employee benefits.

Adeboyes money is gotten from telling People the same old story every Sunday about a place he has never been to called Heaven and by by telling them to give him a compulsory 10% of their earnings as he is running a collection agency on behalf of God whilst still taking a supposedly voluntary offering amongst many other forms of extortion like building offering, pledges, seed faith, e.t.c. His workers don't get paid as such like the Ushers, choristers, church workers etcetera.. His earnings don't get taxed nor levied by the government either.e holds no insurances for his employees nor his building. He makes money from preying on the spiritual weaknesses and vulnerability of Africans and co..

So yeah.. Adeboye may just be richer than Bill.
The most import product ( or call it service) on earth is the Salvation of souls and the most important entities on earth are people, not things, Adeboye is richer and greater than bill gate because he's devoted himself to the highest calling on earth.

But really, I Don't expect you to understand, spiritual things can't be grasp by canal minds, DEEP CALLS TO DEEP => For your information, nobody is forced to give tithe, so it's not compulsory.

I will not absorb Obansanjo of the successors he chose for Nigeria, they were bound to fail, the 1st was too weak PHYSICALLY to last as a president while the 2nd was too weak MENTALLY, EMOTIONALLY and in CHARACTER to last for a year as president, but he ended up spending almost 6 yrs there and derailed the whole system, if Obasanjo wants to choose the minority, he should have chosen a better prepared person not an accidental president.

What I loved the most about the Obasanjo Era were the MINISTERS they were all competent - Frank Nweke Junior, Elf Rufai, Ribadu, Oby Ekwesili, Ngozi Iweala, Soludo and Others, and then, he was also in charge, no one was bigger than him, they couldn't build on it because OBJ himself derailed everything by choosing leaders that won't continue the vision, that's what makes Tinumbu better than him. I don't accept the claim that we voted for them either, we can only vote from the options the major political leader/incumbent president has chosen.

Glad we still got some bold ones amongst them that will take their stand regardless of the outcome- take the case of the Clerk that resigned some days ago, the couple that refused to bake a wedding cake for same sex couple & even had their business shut down as a result of their refusal.
I expected a straight & concise answer from him not diplomacy- When it comes to God, it's either a Yes or No...there's no two ways about it. Why use the gas as an illustration when you can't give a definite Yes or Nohuh
There's STILL Hope by His Grace because "if all pastors decide today not to give a direct answer on the issue to avoid criticisms... my Daddy in the Lord won't"
Beloved take your stand now for the end is nearer than we think... No reason justifies Homosexuality
It is against Nature
It is against Man
It is against God... and who shall deliver thee from the Hands of the Almighty God huh
Your answer is as good as mine...NO ONE
I Love the way he responded, I don;t think he's trying to appeal to them by not answering directly but rather he is trying to make them think of how foolish Homosexuality is, I'll choose that over just saying Yes or No, even Jesus did not answer every questions in a Yes or No format, does it mean he was using diplomacy? No he answered based on the kind of people asking him questions (the pharisees) -> wisdom is profitable to direct.

The way he put it is the Best possible way anybody can, the people asking can already know his stand, it's boring to just say 'It's wrong', with the logic he added to it, anybody with half brain knows how abnormal/senseless homosexuality is.

You are stupidly clueless. The criticism is not about using the real thing in the video but the intent behind the video. What is Davido promoting? What message is he passing across? Especially now that Nigeria is waging war against drug trafficking an d grappling with Nigerian jailed for drug related cases all over the world. Statistics had it now that Nigerians are the most populous in world prison for drug related cases. Davido doesn't think, talent without brains is a disaster...
So what is the Jail term for 'INTENT'? If they are judging intent, then Davido should not be the first, they should go to nolllywood and other music videos, dem go see tire, while i'm not in support of whatever Davido was portraying, it is not NDLEA's job to judge INTENT, it's NBC's job and the worst they can do is BAN the video at least on the Naija TV.

How's a music video Ndlea's responsibility? they wan investigate the drug he they showcase? then they need to investigate all nollywood movies that portrayed drugs too, if they're talking about the indecency and bad influence, it's not their responsibility, it's NBC's job.
