adanny01: The truth is that expiry date of tires is not enforceable because very many different factors that cause degradation of rubber which the tire is made of. Heat for example is a major factor so weather is a main factor. It means 4years expiry in country A could be 5 years in B and 6 in C. Within the US a lone, on standard expiry date cannot be enforced. This is just one factor, when you account for other factors, its nearly impossible to get a specific date not that the tire will not expire at a point in time. Like i said in this thread, its not the expiry of tires that is in contention but the expiry period.
Thread is the only enforceable factor to consider. It is highly advised that from 4 years and above, tires of that age become dangerous as the guarantee is well off.
Just like someone mentioned above, its better to buy a new china substandard tire than buy a 10year old standard Michelin tire or its equivalent. If you know chemistry, you will know better.
a 10 year old plus Michelin tire exploded while i was driving several months ago
It sounded like a bomb was placed under the vehicle
But then I was able to drive another 15 miles on that tire till I got home
Then I started checking until I discovered what went wrong.
I took pictures for reference purposes
That's why Michelin recommends that if the tire exceeds 6 years, check it annually.
It had very good thread but it was no longer as rigid as it was supposed to be so it gave up the ghost
Kashif: Kooler Kleen is okay, but not the gold standard. The gold standard is the hot cooler line flusher. When I grow up, I will buy it - costs starts from 750k!
corrected!
Kooler Kleen is gold standard for the poor like me.
The hot cooler line flusher is gold standard for the rich unlike me.
Kashif: I did not want to disturb the system that much because I know the history of my problems. There were also no debris in the sump. I have air compressor, but not kooler kleen. I used it extensively on the valve body, which has been my area of concentration.
Was avoiding dropping the box also because I do not have a new torque converter.
You have kooler kleen?
Cool.
Well I don't but that product seems to the gold standard in cooler line cleaning hence my suggestion.
I did not abandon this quest; have been working in the background, but decided not to post anything anymore until I have gotten it to work. Over five months, I have been checking one thing or the other, buying one tool or the other, taking my time. I was buying the tools as the need arose. Each time hoping that one would pinpoint the issue. If it doesn't, an order is placed for another, which usually takes time. I eventually got it to work! However, two standard procedures were not followed - replacement of torque converter, and flushing of cooler line. I have my fingers crossed!
One thing I know for sure is this - Toyota 13pin (U150/250) can be repaired successfully.
I will post my undertakings so far, as I remember them. Where possible/necessary, there will be picture(s). Stay tuned.
mayor2013: You are not far fetched from getting another transmission. Price is 400k. Your kazeem screwed up things. Before that job was done he should have allowed the car's transmission cool down properly. In my own case I would do that job the next day. Dont forget in the process of pulling out the cv joint. A bit of Transmission oil would be lost (might not be the case for all cars). that process is hazardous to toyota and lexus. Am afraid that's the only way out now
Standard practice by experienced mechanics is to wait for 24 hours before touching a Toyota/Lexus transmission or anything connected to it!
That's what I initially wanted to post then i delayed.
lordpapi: Dear auto gurus of nairaland, I need urgent possible explanation and solution to a transmission problem with my 2005 rx330. I took the car to an auto mechanic to replace the drive shaft( the inner cup and bearing to be precise), driver side shaft oil seal and also to replace all the brake pads, shocks, ball joint, linkages, camber, engine seatings etc. Car drove well after all the repair but suddenly developed fault after about 3 miles distance drive. the gear will disengage at will and wont accelerate even when it manages to engage. so I had to manage and take the car back to the auto workshop where it was diagnosed and a P0746 code(- Pressure Control Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off) was discovered as the reason the car had the problem.
my question now I; 1- what could possible cause this sudden problem to the gear box? 2- could it be that the shaft replacement could trigger a damage to the gear box( - Pressure Control Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off)? 3- what ways can this issue be resolved?
am not happy about this cos a lot have been spent already. pls, I need your advice.
The service manual of this transmission states that the ring gear of the final drive if disassembled, be heated in atf to 95 degrees C before assembly. The bolts must not be tightened when this ring is hot. That is the only thing I have found since studying these transmissions that mentions temperature management (well, we know the effect of cold atf on hot transmission though). I am sure this part of the transmission was not touched in your case so, what happened?
1. Overheating, hence the recommendation to install an oil cooler.
Without proper cooling, ATF quickly degrades, causing internal components to wear prematurely.
Even Mazda told users to install an oil cooler to fix your issue. It is not just about using Dexron VI.
Heat does nasty things to transmissions, but then the transmission for that ride doesn't cost so much so decide between driving it till you junk it and installing an oil cooler to reduce the exposure to heat plus an inline oil filter to dramatically extend its life.
It is also about changing the ATF every 10,000 miles unless you install an oil cooler with its own temperature controlled fans and an inline filter before the oil cooler so it traps particles from ever getting into the transmission
2. The other failure is low line pressure, there is a TransGo shift kit to fix (permanent fix) that as well as a resistor kit (band aid) to mask the problem
Here is some unsolicited advice.
Don't keep flooring the pedal in a hurry, it creates heat and this tranny don't like it. Because of 1 above, unless you have beefed it up. Unless you want to replace the tranny sooner than later.
Don't participate in road races, it could last a bit longer. This is no purpose built race car though the vehicle feels so good to be raced.

barbiee: I hope i dont encounter that problem. They are yet to receive my transcripts from my school of Nursing. Is it that they compare the one from nursing council with the one from the school?
I think so.
The council has a policy of using the date of the most recent license.
CGFNS needs the date of the very first ever license issue.
Until the council provides that to match the information I had earlier submitted to them.
barbiee: I just got an email from cgfns. They have received the licence verification forms from nursing council.
Cool. So my timing was on the mark!
Like you, I got an email from cgfns.
BUT
Still struggling with CGFNS verification.
They queried the documentation sent by the council.
The problems have to do with the nursing council back home having a policy of attaching their transcript to CGFNS documentation instead of filling the documentation the CGFNS sends.
I just hope you don't end up facing the same trouble.
Once that is cleared will be able to take the NCLEX exam
barbiee: they didn't pass any details to me, i just went to council to submit the form and pay the necessary fees. The secondary school certificate i sent to cgfns has since been received.. I don't know why my school of Nursing and nursing council is prolonging the process.
Gratefulme40 has spoken well.
I paid official fees and fees for express service. I didn't stop there. I specifically demanded that courier delivery be used and I demanded the tracking number and I entrusted someone there to act as my paid for agent to ensure all these happened.
I paid more yes, but that is the price for ensuring things work in Nigeria.
Let me assume, your case may not even have been closed at the council.
If you need a contact at the council, I can help. If not, I have let the cat out of the bag, over to you!
Brigadier7: International Students are usually not eligible for US Govt funded loans. The loans am talking about are private loans.. You may be eligible for Private loans.
Thanks so much for the enlightenment.
Those private lenders do they operate throughout the US or regionally or on a state by state basis?
In short how do I find them so I can apply? should I send you a PM or can you answer here?
Whichever is convenient? I really appreciate your time
Already have a Nigerian RN and several years of experience
Seeking more challenges and better pay

I just hope the student loan thing works for other health disciplines not just dentistry since it should not be impossible to pay back within a couple of years once employed
Maybe the professional exam thing is going to stand in my way of the loan
Brigadier7: Seems you don't get me! You use about 200k USD in Dentistry! Before they give you the loan you must also have a Co-signer who is a USA Citizen or PR! For the Masters and Phd I suggested, its Way Far Lower than 100K dollars!! 200k is only for my Discipline! You get?? Just google the tuition fees! Am sure it won't be upto 100k for both master and Phd in your discipline
Excuse my ignorance.
How does a non-citizen Nigerian get this sort of student loan?
Does he apply for it himself or herself?
Does the citizen or PR apply for it?
Or do both the non-citizen and citizen apply?
Or do both the non-citizen and PR apply?
What sort of relationship should exist between both before it can be approved?
Much appreciated if you could break it down for me
queen47: I am just wondering.....can it not be tracked? That way, you know it's been delivered and you can even see the name of the person that picked it up
Did the school use a courier with a tracking no? Or did the council use a courier with a tracking no?
Did they pass that detail to you? Then yes, if not then no!
barbiee: @mpvGoddess.. How long did you wait for cgfns to receive your credentials? I sent mine on the 12th of may but they are yet to receive them.. Does it normally take this long?
Package sent by FEDEX from council arrived 4 days later all in April 2016.
Package sent by UPS from school arrived 4 days later all in April 2016.
Issues were raised with council's verification response by CGFNS on May 11.
Council says they are yet to receive the same and so cannot treat the query.
Between a month and 15 days to two months you should know where you stand.
And you will know because they will email you and update your account with them.
Don't waste money calling them ooo...they are pretty organized and will revert to you themselves ASAP if they have gotten it

noted that the overdrive light was blinking and only stopped when I park, but resurfaces when I'm on top speed on the highway - I tend to think the input turbine speed sensor is flaky, intermittent fault
Recently installed a new transmission aka gearbox in Nigerian parlance?
If yes, then I suspect your oil cooler lines have been misdirected. Your transmission is not cooling, and so is cooking the components.
If not, you need to change the input turbine speed sensor.
Do a code read, you have P0715. You could change the sensor from the junkyard.
The transmission was a weak link on that ride.
Try and install an additional oil cooler for it.
lovely ride but the transmission had issues - was all over the internet - years ago - usually because it overheated and it was apparently not rugged enough - anyway those are my opinions - not gospel
whenever I m in traffic and I put the gear on neutral, the engine stops, same thing when I put it in park to open the gate. - Idle Air Control failing or failed
The wire was cut off exactly at the o2 sensor tail. The wire to the car is still there.
But the wire is badly cut off. Want to know if I can still connect it back
Asked specific questions about connector, not answered
That will determine if you have to fix polarity issues first or if you can just blindly connect because you will know (that is cannot misdirect the wiring) which wire goes where
princemillla: Mine also have Grey black and white white. But has been cut off. That's the one after catalyst converter. Do u advice I reconnect it or change it
Let's get one thing clear.
Connector from the car computer intact?
Connector from the sensor to car computer destroyed? Partly or wholly?
Do you know which wire from the oxygen sensor side connects to which wire from the car computer side?
When you say "has been cut off" what exactly do you mean? So we can be sure what is the situation before advising further
A picture would be helpful if you cannot describe succintly
because it ensures the car engine does not somehow harm itself while processing the air/fuel mixture
Possible Causes
A code P0325 most likely means one or more of the following has happened: The knock sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced There is a wiring short/fault in the knock sensor circuit
Possible Solutions Check the resistance of the knock sensor (compare it to factory specs) Check for broken/frayed wires leading to the sensor Replace the knock sensor
MPVGoddess: Now that you mention Knock sensor, not all knock sensor codes come from a faulty knock sensor.
I thought I had a faulty knock sensor, and so got a new one, still the codes would come back so I traced the wiring to the ECU and discovered that they were shot, so I can new wires to the knock sensor and the one I had in the car still worked, so I didn't have to use the new, point is, I recall that his vehicle was recently worked on, and several wiring gremlins appeared, so please rule out faulty wiring before getting a new knock sensor
the poster above knows what he is doing and can help you
but if you still insist on a specialist in Nissan
then AutoJoshNG once put up the following recommendation:
You can meet this Nissan specialist at Ogudu mechanic village if the car is in Lagos. His name is Mr Tunde (08125715853)
NOTE: Neither is known to me personally, the poster above has a good reputation here, while the above is posted by someone who appears to know his left from his right, so do your due diligence before you decide which way to go, simply passing on info that may be helpful
princemillla: Thank you bro, as its now. It seems nothing is working in my fuel thank perhaps current is not getting there as my fuel gauge refuse to read. Am going to have it remove tomorrow morning. Is that the main headache here Bro?
i cannot say which is more important
to me P0180 and P1336 can be ranked almost the same in seriousness I think you should fix both at the same time, but start with the P0180 (BECAUSE YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO READ THE FUEL GUAGE) then P1336 then P0325
