TravelAsian Or Nigerian. Who’s Better For Marriage? by mrbenjame(op): 7:40pm On Nov 13, 2021
I’ve heard so much about Asian women. As a Nigerian I don’t want to talk much about Nigerian ladies. Although some are good. But as for the Asian are they really good like people claim? Who’s a witness to this. Should I reason an Asian over Naija woman? Please advice.

PoliticsWhy Are Our Youths Supporting Old Leaders? by mrbenjame(op): 8:08pm On Sep 04, 2021
Please let’s discuss. First of all I’m a youth in my 30s and I kind of have this thought in my mind and I begin to wonder why youths love supporting these old generation leaders instead of looking at how we can take over leadership. Does it look so difficult?

Most times during time of elections we see our grandparents coming to contest and you see grandchildren campaigning for them. And I won’t also say some youths too are also incompetent but the old folks are really annoying and This keeps me so worried. Very soon someone in Nigeria will emerge with the intention of contesting not minding whether he or she will die on seat. Yet the youth are not bothered. Even when we know they have nothing to offer? Please why is it so? I’m really worried?

If my people "Nigerians" would humble themselves and vote in a woman as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the next general election, I will take away their sorrow.
Vote which woman?

Let me tell you something. In my honest opinion. I don’t really need you to agree with me to start with. Women’s style of leadership is very annoying and frustrating. Any position a lady takes up in any organization they abuse it. Especially if it is in Nigeria.

If you work in an organization where women lead you’ll understand that women have a no sympathy syndrome for her surbordinates. A man can be considerate to some level but a woman. What she says stand. That’s not what we need. I’m not a sexist but I believe a Nigerian woman. Quote my word. A “Nigerian “ woman can’t take up such leadership position. She’d turn a jezebel.

Go to any government organization, banks, universities, schools, embassy, etc and try to meet with the overall lady in charge. Your body go tell you. All we need now is a good man to lead Nigeria. Not a woman ruling Nigeria. I’m not against a woman taking leadership roles but not a number one figure. I wish you’d understand. Women own sef no good.

TravelRe: My First Flight Experience; I Won’t Lie I Almost Peed! by mrbenjame(op):
Now I discovered something about the pilots action. I discovered that if he had remained in the cloud with that turbulence something funny would have happened so he decided to come down a little below the cloud before the funny experience ended.

Not too long ( about 20 minutes later ) they announced that we are approaching the portharcourt international airport, omagwa. That we should tighten our seatbelts bla bla bla...... for my mind I come dey ask. Who would loosen his seatbelt at that kind of experience?

Soon enough the plane started tilting down and the buildings started appearing bigger and bigger until we started seeing the airport from a glance. We landed on the runway at about 7:35 pm and so everywhere wet. That wa when our window was now having the rain droplets. Otherwise up there there was no rain on us. So after everything the planes sound started reducing. Omo.... the kind of breathe I took was enough to resurrect someone who fainted! It was still raining so we waited for the airport shuttle buses came to pick us where we were in the plane. The air hostess announced we should leave one after the other. Trust Nigerians. See how them Dey run from back to the front to chance people to comot for plane. I no fit laugh. Nigerians are really the most difficult people on earth. The crew member shout tire. Lie lie no be Naija people you dey talk to. Na so plane change to market place. I quietly waited so people won’t call me for plane wey I no believe say e go carry me reach house.

We got out of the plane straight to te luxurious bus that took us in the rain from where the aircraft was parked to the arrival hall because it was a bit far and it was raining.

So I got in, clenched my belongings checked out and took the available Uber back home.

To sit down for my chair for house sef come dey fear me because I’d think I’m still in that wonderful machine called a plane.

As I reach work I no talk to anybody because they don’t know what this guy typing this thing passed through.

Since I’d be making another trip shortly there’s nothing to fear again. Flying is fun but for the first time you’d feel a little scared but I tell you it’s a life experience.

I’d be posting a straight topic of my international travel but I no go delay like this. Make una no vex. Na my work cause am. One love!
TravelRe: My First Flight Experience; I Won’t Lie I Almost Peed! by mrbenjame(op):
We got into the plane. This time my ticket number was seat number 23A. Holla! Window seat!

A is always a window seat. The other side is either D or F. But from what I vividly used me eyes to see was D because it’s areanged DEF and not FED. ( for a two roll passenger plane but I don’t know for a three row passenger plane because I’ve not entered that one. Maybe when I’m finally traveling out!).

There was a song playing in the background while we were seated waiting for other passengers. It was like an interlude. No voice. Just an instrumental. I decided to ask Siri ( for iPhone users) what was playing and I got the name of the instrumental ( HORIZON). That’s the name.

It played for about 20 minutes.

We were all seated and the plane was set to leave. The pilot came out ( A Nigerian ) and said he’s sorry we have to wait for extra 20 minutes because the weather back in portharcourt is pretty harsh with thunderstorms and it won’t be safe to fly.

On hearing this I start to boil inside me like; portharcourt and rain. Ha! Nawa o. Rivers state! Lols. And while we were there sef sun dey shine badly for Abuja around 5:00pm to the point I closed or slide the window blind of the plane. Although the plane was on and the doors were shot. We continued waiting.

Another pilot again ( this time a white guy) also announced that we should wait for another 20 minutes. Na so we wait till 2 hours pass. We still Dey on. Plane still Dey steam. I come dey ask..... who knows how much aviation fuel this plane don consume without flying at all.

Finally Around 6:15pm they announced that the plane can leave now and the weather is clearer, they can now receive signals, bla bla bla. And we’d be leaving soon but they’d want to refill the tank of the plane ( because we waited for two good hours with the plane on while we were waiting inside. Trust me. The AC was chilling well).

When the tanker came I looked at this tanker coming towards us for the refill. Where I come respect plane be say that thing called tanker became like a small child to the plane. You can’t compare their size. The plane is just too big as compared to this tanker we usually fear on the road. After 20 minutes the top up was over.

At about 6: 45pm ( imagine from 4:30 to 6:45pm). We flew out of the airport.

About 25 minutes into the cloud it was already dark. Usually they turn the lights off in the plane obviously for reasons I don’t know. But from time to time they’d on it and off it again.

I looked out of the window and started seeing lightening below the clouds. Then I believed we were approaching south east or south south and probably the heavy rain in portharcourt they announced. I continued seeing the lightening below and I discovered that the rain wasn’t touching the plane. I didnr see any rain drops by the window or any body’s window. I became confused and was asking how is this possible? The plane was above the cloud and so it’s only people below the clouds that see this rain and not people up there. Them no know wetin Dey happen for ground... lols... I kept looking down and seeing this lightening down.

...........The Turbulence........

As usual, the pilot announced that in few minutes we’d be experiencing a turbulence. So I didn’t border since I experienced it using Max air. So arik air shouldn’t be different. Little did I know that the weather was fair at the first trip than now.

We got to the turbulence, my God! This plane start to dey act funny. The shaking was too much! See vibration. Everybody sleeping in the plane woke up. Na so I Dey bounce for my seat. And night don reach. God! I started thinking....... ordinary to travel by road for night dey somehow then talk more of traveling by air. I was not even thinking of being stranded in the air. There won’t be chance for that. You’d even wished you didn’t fly at all.

Na so the plane start to dey shake pass before. The vibration started worsening. Before I knew it the plane started facing down with speed. Ha! God what is this ooooo! Na so I come dey tight my palm. The plane kept tilting downwards for a long time. I started feeling the pilot had lost control. See people just dey look. In my mind I knew people were just keeping calm. Otherwise the next move would have prompted people to shout or cry or do something funny. Small time we started seeing the earth. Seeing houses a little. And finally the plane stopped shaking and leveled again. At this time we were out form the cloud.

Ok.........

It was time to come back to portharcourt from Abuja, so I got to the airport as usual and did the same thing. My flight was scheduled by 4:30pm to arrive in portharcourt by 5:20pm. We did the normal boarding pass and all that. But This time i was asked to pull my shoes. I pulled my shoes and it was scanned as well. ( I can’t remember if I did this shoe thing in portharcourt. Probably I did but I’ve forgotten. Lols. Ok.....). When it passed through the conveyor, my bag was scanned. Before I knew it the officer alerted other officers that I had perfumes. They asked me if I had and I responded confidently. They asked me to bring it out (politely). I did bring it out and handed it to them. Then I asked them if they’re seizing it or what? Then they smiled and told me NO that If I must go with it I must go back to another compartment where my bag will be thoroughly searched. I just weak. Looking at the time, it was already 4:20pm. I knew that alone would take a long time and possibly make me miss the announcement of my flight. Na so I leave the perfume for them o. As I leave that place dey go waiting hall to sit down Na so I see one big and transparent sack wey contain different brand of perfumes. I won die for laugh. Like; does it mean the decision I made was long made by others before now? I just shook my head and went to sit down. 10 minutes later our flight was announced ( the lady that announced the flight was very loud. Even the deaf would here. Very nice public address system, unlike the portharcourt lady. You barely hear what she’s saying unless you bring your ears down. I no know whether na formings o. Or abi she no chop belle food). Na joke o. Lols.....

Ok. We got queued up and left the hall for the plane waiting and steaming for us. This time I used arik air.
TravelRe: My First Flight Experience; I Won’t Lie I Almost Peed! by mrbenjame(op): 9:49pm On May 07, 2021
Soon enough the turbulence started and the plane started shaking like a vehicle that’s matching a very rough surface. All the seats were vibrating. I looked at the wings of the plane and saw how flexible that thing was. I thought it was really stiff but I never knew it was very very flexible. Inside me I started feeling that I’m just flying in a very fragile waterproof called aircraft. After 5 minutes the turbulence was over. The aircraft was still again like as if it wasn’t moving at all.

There’s one unique thing I discovered about planes. When you’re flying in it, you won’t hear the disturbing noise at all. And you won’t even feel it’s moving in a high speed even when you look through the window. You might only observe when the plane is tilting either left, right, up or downwards.

After sometime a female crew member made an announcement that we’d be landing in 15 minutes.

Shortly we were At Abuja! About 45- 50 minutes by my calculations. (Abuja get mountains and rocks sha! Lols). Shortly after that we got another announcement to fasten our seatbelts that we’re about to land at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. As soon as she announced that the other crew members and some passengers went to seat down with speed fastening their seatbelts.

About 2 minutes after the announcement I started observing our plane tilting downwards.( Abeg o make una correct any grammatical errors o. Lols).

Another thing you’d experience during landing is that the plane won’t just face downwards completely and continuously. It will forcefully move down a bit and level again. It will go down again and level. This is repeated until it reaches the ground. I think that’s the safest way of landing or the normal way of landing.

We started seeing the airport and the runway. Then my mind came down. I waited patiently as we descended on the ground with the plane tyres listening to the tough sound of the tyre on the runway with an intense speed.

As soon as we landed the brake of the plane alone was so fearful like as if the runway won’t be enough for that plane to exhaust all the speed time. After 3 minutes we got to a halt.

I observed the plane’s sound started reducing drastically. ( very lovely sound ). Oyibo get efizzy sha! The sound Dey very intimidating!

Wetin I just dey hear for the plane na “Thank you Jesus”. Me too follow.

We waited for the people in front to leave the plane one after the other until I was out of the plane.

This trip was very exciting. Big until I tell you about my return flight that nearly discouraged me from flying again.

Please stay tuned.......

TravelRe: My First Flight Experience; I Won’t Lie I Almost Peed! by mrbenjame(op): 9:41pm On May 05, 2021
Make una no vex ooo..... lols. Sorry I just returned from work. It’s exactly 9pm today. I’d try to update now please.

.....................The take off.................

During the announcement I observed that there’s usually a telephone hanged between the passenger side and the cockpit where the pilots stay. It’s just a passage. So whenever a crew member wants to make an announcement he or she goes there to pick the telephone to speak to the whole crowd ( lols. Permit me to use that word. Lols. Abi no be cruise we Dey catch? ).

After the pilot finished his announcement. the sound of the plane increased again. This was when I concluded that we were set to fly finally. The plane noise sweet sha!

The plane started moving and the whole crew members went to seat down. I observed that they were mostly seating at the back back while some stayed in front.

At the time the plane started moving I just felt I was in a luxurious bus ( you know all this heavy and lazy luxurious buses that don’t run too fast but will make a whole lot of noise as if it has covered a good distance before changing gear). That was how the plane started moving gradually to the run way. I just kept watching with enthusiasm. ‘‘Twas really funny.

After we stationed at the run way it was just as if a formidable force pushed this plane and the speed that this machine used after lazing around got me so scared. At the count of 3 it was very slow ( like 10km/hr) very lazy movement. Before counting 4 the speed just changed( about 400km/hr). I couldn’t believe it because it was as if something pushed it from slow to fast.

The speed continued to increase as I was waiting for the tires to leave the ground..... the noise of the tire on the runway track cannot be over emphasized. Just Like your Normal car on the road. Exactly the same but with a louder sound on the ground.

Soon enough ( within 30 seconds of that great speed). We started leaving the ground gradually. I felt somehow like my head wanted to fall out of me. Defying laws of gravity is really very mysterious. As the plane kept moving up, I started seeing people in front up while we wey dey for back come dey face ground. The plane just faced upwards while I was suspended on my chair facing up inside the plane.

The airport started becoming smaller, smaller and smaller............finally the airport was out of sight!

I started seeing houses like ants, couldn’t see human beings at all.

We continued facing up for about 15 complete minutes moving into the cloud. At this point everybody was fastened in their seatbelts.

After a long period of time. ( like I just said 15 minutes) the plane started leveling its altitude. This time I could see the front people at the same level as we at the back. This means we’re flying at a leveled altitude so to speak.

The plane was so calm, no noise. The place just quiet. I come dey wonder; so this plane as I Dey see am for ground Dey make noise no be so e Dey inside? Oyibo na winsh!

Inside just sounds like you’re in your normal car cruising in a smooth highway with your AC on.

After sometime the plane started tilting towards the right, curving so much like we were going to fall at the other row. Na so I put hand for chest. I started breathing very fast. After some time it will bend again to the opposite direction. For my mind I come dey say “abi this pilot Dey take people play for this plane?

We continued moving till the pilot announced what I didn’t want to hear. “Turbulence “. As soon as he said we were going to experience a turbulence in the next 5 minutes Na so saliva finish for my mouth. I come dey swallow spit. I wanted to sleep but 5 minutes was too much to initiate a sleep...................una goodnight.

More updates with pictures tomorrow........

TravelRe: My First Flight Experience; I Won’t Lie I Almost Peed! by mrbenjame(op): 11:16pm On May 03, 2021
As I headed towards the plane, I saw other planes too parked with engines on, preparing to leave. Probably one has to move before Others follow. Like one after the other. Same with landing.

What tripped me most was the sound of these planes. It’s not as noisy as I thought ( to be honest).

I got close to the plane and we were asked again to queue properly to climb the stairs into the plane. Some planes do come with stairs while some don’t. ( especially large passenger planes). I might be wrong though..... ok. So I climbed the stairs till I got to the door mouth of the plane. And that’s it........wow! Alas I was in. Saw how the seats looked like. My heart melted because it was really a dream to be in a thing I watch only on TVs or pictures.

On entering, by my left was the cockpit where the pilots are then by the right, the passenger area. ( it was an all economy class. No first class or what have you. Business class I guess).

Since I studied my ticket very well, it wasn’t difficult to locate my seat. Mine was seat 19B.

Now to locate your seat you’d have to look a little above the chairs ( the compartment where your light loads is usually kept above your head ). You’d see the numbers written boldly. Since mine was seat 19, I quietly passed other numbers till I got to my number. The next thing I did was to locate the ABC of a thing. You can’t seat on someone else’s seat because the person is just right behind you coming as well to seat right there. Although some seats are usually empty. Usually the back of the plane. Towards the tail end. ( forgive my English o. Lols). Or anywhere maybe the person missed his or her flight.

Now let me explain a little about the seating arrangement.

The plane is a Boeing 737 ( not as big as a 747)
It had two rows with 3 seats straight down.

First row by my right we have seat 1A, 1B and 1C then by my left ( as I’m entering the plane) is 1D, 1E and 1F.

Now mind you... seat 1A is the window seat while at the other side It’s 1D. So the seating arrangement is DEF and CBA. ( I hope the smart ones can understand this).

So I got to my seat (19B). A little close to the window. We waited for a while for others to enter and have their seats.

So while waiting I immediately got accustomed to the seatbelt. very easy to use though ( to me o. Lols. ).

After 30 minutes, the pilot (A white guy) made some announcement, welcomed us on board, told us how high we’d fly (29,000ft ) I would never forget. ( and 890km/hr). When I heard this one I carry hand put for head! 890? Which kyn speed be that?

One of the air hostess announced also and we were told to switch off phones and all that bla bla bla........

After everything the last words she said was “do have a wonderful trip”. We had other crew members in the plane too. Male and female.

As soon as the whole place was quiet and everyone on their seatbelt, the sound of the plane increased. Then I knew we were set to leave.........

It’s late now my dear friends. I’d update tomorrow.

TravelRe: My First Flight Experience; I Won’t Lie I Almost Peed! by mrbenjame(op):
Ok........ I’m back now. I got into the waiting/ departure area but before then I was asked If I was with any possession of perfumes or stuffs like that. I told them yes I do. The guy just told me to go that I shouldn’t worry. Before entering the departure hall I saw a lady that her Job was to check your ticket and detach one side of the ticket leaving you with a little piece of paper containing your flight details. (your name, seat number, where you’re going to, type of plane carrying you etc.). I entered the departure area and saw another conveyor again. This time I had to repeat the process again. Dropped everything I had including my watch.

After they all rolled out to a particular point ( short like I said earlier) I picked up my bag and
other belongings.

I got to the departure hall seeing a lot of people seated. The hall is usually glassy in which you can easily see any plane landing and taking off as well as people entering and exiting some planes.

When I got there I found out the hall was filled so I had to go upstairs. It’s a gallery where you can sit up there and still see the people downstairs as well as the landings and take offs. I enjoyed staying up because you’d see everything clearly and vividly. Thanks to the airport staff that ushered me upstairs. I saw both children and parents waiting for their flights, boys and girls, old people etc...

While we were there we were hearing announcements from time to time of the particular airline that’s leaving and the destination. So I had to check my ticket to confirm if it’s the airline I was flying with.

Mind you.... be very attentive as well because the announcers voice is very little. So I barely heard her voice. She’s obviously a Nigerian no doubt but her voice wasn’t audible enough. That really pissed me off. Thanks to the airport workers who also announce the flights for people to hear.

So you’d hear something Like this:
Arik air Portharcourt to Lagos zone A to F please
Assemble for your flight. Thank you! ( something like that).

Since I was boarding Max air, I was bordered because I’ve never heard of that name( maybe because I don’t visit the airport like I said or because I’m not a frequent traveler).

I saw people seating with me whose plane was ready to take them away. After 30 minutes of their leaving the hall, I saw them flying away into the cloud. I started wondering like “ see o. No be that babe wey sit down here don enter cloud now now? Chei! Nawa o. Lols. So Na so me go move too? Omo. No be small o “ I just kept calm because I was getting excited

After waiting patiently, almost 10:25am boarding time, I started seeing a mighty aircraft running through the run way to the departure hall with a bold description “Max air”. I just smiled. In my heart I said this is Max air, the aircraft I’d be flying with. My happiness is that the aircraft looks new and very hefty.

Please note that planes usually stop far away from the departure hall. Most time there’re airport shuttle buses to convey you to where the plane is parked before you enter( if the departure hall is far from the plane itself or if it’s raining and you need to get off the plane as soon as you landed). But if the plane is a little close you can walk down to the arrival hall ( for those who just landed in their destination or returning).

Alas it was time Maxair was announced. I gladly got up and moved downstairs and headed to the exit of the glass house where my ticket/boarding pass was handed to them. The checked it and returned it to me while I headed out for the plane.........

To be continued........
TravelMy First Flight Experience; I Won’t Lie I Almost Peed! by mrbenjame(op):
I’ve never flown before but I’d like to narrate my first experience traveling by air. It’s a very interesting experience and fearful for the faint hearted. Lols. But the thing is..... whether you are scared or not you’d definitely get to your destination. No doubt about that. So stay tune.....

Few days ago, I went for an important event in Abuja. I reside in portharcourt. I stayed about 4km away from the airport. Since I had no business in the airport, I stay clear. Sometimes knowing fully well I’d be hitting the plane sooner enough I decided to visit the airport but something kept dragging me back. So I backed off until the day I was scheduled to travel. I left the house for the airport at about 7:45am for a trip scheduled by 10:25 am. ( from what I was told you should be early enough).

We got to the airport around 8:15. Got into the check in hall. On entring we were asked to drop our phones and bags in a conveyor that scans our belonging. It rolls with your belongings the way your bags would roll to a place you’d pick it up. But this conveyor is quite short. So you’d need to be there to see that your load passes through that load scanner before picking your belongings.

Now I picked my bag and headed to the boarding pass ( please you’d always need to ask questions in the airport o! Before you loose your flight all in the name of forming). I was directed to the boarding pass where I’d show them my flight ticket number. ( mine was sent to my phone so I showed them from my phone). They’d type it and confirm you’re the actual passenger.

After that I was given my flight ticket.( mind you, if you’re flying aero for instance please do not go to stand on arik queue. Find aero and queue there. That’s how it works ).

After taking my ticket I headed to the departure area..........

Have you or your parents even been abroad to determine if you can find a "decent girl?" Don't be so quick to dismiss because of misconceptions. Moreover, you should be humble and assume that many women abroad might not want to date you.

As to your question, in 3 months you can establish a relationship but will both of you be prepared for the difficulties that come with it? Not being able to see each other frequently? Poor network reception that makes calls and video chats difficult? Being deprived of physical closeness and spending time together? Make sure you and your potential partner are prepared. Have a game plan of how you will continue keeping the relationship going virtually. Good luck.
I never thought of all these points you raised

Laughs. So you want him to restrict his options while there are abundant Nigerian women in Nigeria. Why should he seek out Nigerian women abroad where the percentage of Nigerians are in the minority. Also, many of these Nigerian women have abandoned their traditional values and now acclimatize to western cultures and norms.

Yes, the best place to meet young Nigerians are colleges. However, the number of female Nigerians may be in limited supply or unavailable for him. The OP might not be migrating as a student which puts him in a difficult situation to get Nigerian women. Also, when you are out of Nigeria, you are expose to different nationalities, races, and even species that you cannot explain the cross breeding or the percentage of mixtures involved with the individual. In other words, you would be amazed at the beauty of women from other climes. Hence, the parents are right that he may not prefer to have a Nigerian woman as wife if he travels.

OP, listen to your parents. Marriage is a very important decision a man would make. Don't play around it. As a man who doesn't reside in Nigeria, I will repeat myself - Listen to your parents.
I got that bro. But 3 months is just to small to search for s good lady

1. Lol. Your parents are not serious

2. They are setting you up for gold digging.

3. They can arrange marriage for you while you're abroad.

4. Are there no Nigerians where you are going? (There are).

5. One love. What if the person you gel with is Ghanaian, Kenyan, Congolese, European, Chinese, Indian, etc. Don't complicate things.
Thank you for this wonderful piece. God bless you richly

@OP, you are very inexperienced. I will be travelling in next four months and I purposely broke up with my girlfriend of two years so that she could face her life.

You are here thinking of having a liability that will cage your hustling spirit abroad.

I would gladly marry a core feminist abroad for two years and play along with all her feminism shiit for 2-3 years. Once I get my paper, I know what to do and she will hurriedly apply for divorce.

Sit down and think properly. Leave Nigeria girls. They have nothing to offer. If you want submissive girls abroad, you may target ladies from other African countries or Jamaicans.

A word is enough for the wise
Thanks a lot. I thought of this actually

Lols. Not at all. It doesn’t require that. My parents are just the ones scared that I’d hook up with a white lady. Which is why they’re pleading I get someone here.
