Some days ago Google launched its Google play news stand (Play.google.com/about/newsstand) from android. This news application came about from the combination of the Google Play magazine and Google currents to serve as a one stop hub.

The Google play magazine was a magazine store and reading experience while the Google current was a flip board style app that gave out curated news experience from different sources. When Google announced the demise of Google reader this year, initially no replacement was announced it seems very much likely that the Google newsstand is here to stay.


Over the next few days users with the old Google play magazine apps in the UK, US, Canada, Australia were automatically upgraded to the newsstand app while users in others countries can upgrade by downloading the new app and their old news sources will be transferred automatically.


The Google play newsstand features about 1900 free and paid publications with selections from news sites that have partnered Google. Sites like Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Wired, etc. Google claims the more you use the app the more it tailors your preference according to the stories and sources you prefer.

The Chinese manufacturer Gionee has announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Elife E7, which the company claims to be the best Android cameraphone available in the market. The E7 runs on AMIGO 2.0, a heavily skinned Android.
The Elife E7 sports a 5.5-inch JDI display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The numbers add up to a pixel density of 401ppi, which is quite sharp for any standard. E7 is also equipped with Gorilla Glass 3.
Gionee's latest flagship smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor on a Snapdragon 800 chipset. The 4G LTE variant will be the first smartphone globally to house a 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU. E7 with 16GB of internal storage will feature 2GB of RAM, while the 32GB model has 3GB of RAM on-board.

Elife E7 main camera has 16 megapixels of higher than the usual 1.34 µm size, and there's also an 8 megapixel front-facing shooter. The primary lens is based on the Largan M8 solution and is said to deliver sharp images.
Gionee has also worked on its software and the E7 comes with AMIGO 2.0 out of the box. The Android based operating system has a wide range of customized applications to enhance the overall performance and experience.
Last but not the least, Elife E7 has the usual set of connectivity options and the juice for the smartphones is provided by a 2,500mAh non-removable battery.
Gionee Elife E7 will be up for grabs from December 5 in Black, White, Blue, Pink, Green, Yellow and Orange color options. The 16 GB variant is priced at 2,699 Yuan (about $443), while the 32 GB model caries a price tag of 3,199 Yuan (about $525). The smartphone will also hit markets outside of China in early 2014.

Deeper Christian Life Ministry has topped the list of Africa’s largest churches with actual attendance list of 75, 000 worshipers in a gathering and 30, 000 largest weekly seating.

This list is compiled by Warren Bird Ph.D who has been researching global megachurches since 1991, also contributing to a North American megachurch list since
2006, and posting the global megachuches online since 2010.

The list is not based on membership but on actual worship attendance — adults and children, all services, all physical campuses on an average weekend for the year. It is limited to Protestant congregations. Multisite churches are counted as part of one congregation if they are all under the same leader and governance, adhere to the same doctrine, identify together under a similar name or association, and share finances at some level.

Following Deeper Life is Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) and The Apostolic Church (LAWNA) with actual attendance of 50, 000 worshipers in a service. while Winners Chapel records equal figure for its largest weekly service attendance, LAWNA’s largest attendance during a weekly service skyrocketed to 100, 000.

Also on the list is The Redeemed Christian Church of God with 40, 000 largest attendance, Word of Life Bible Church, Christ Embassy (Believer’s Love World Fellowship) and Lords Chosen Charismatic Revival Church with 30, 000, Household of God, House on the Rock, First Baptist Church, Church of God Mission International, Christian Central Chapel International (CCCI), amongst others.

The embattled Canadian company recently put it foot
down and stood its ground when it shrugged off
attempts to buy it and replaced its CEO. Despite that, it
is still unclear what new direction the company will take
in order to maintain its relevance in the mobile market.

When asked whether the company will be making a
switch to Android, new CEO John Chen gave a rather
indirect answer that practically just says that it’s too
soon to make any public statement about it for which he
will be pulled out and shot.

It seems, however, that behind closed curtains,
BlackBerry is preparing its devices to be able to natively
run Android apps downloaded directly from Google Play
Store, in contrast to previously existing laborious
process of sideloading Android apps.

This compatibility
is rumored to arrive on the upcoming BlackBerry OS
version 10.2.1 which will be rolled out to a couple of
smartphones as well as the PlayBook tablet. These batch

Following the launch of BBM on Android and iPhone devices recently, with more than 10 million downloads in the first 24 hours, BBM has now ended its first week with more than 80 million monthly active users, including over 20 million new users on Android and iPhone devices.

Samsung’s expanding its expansionism by creating a super sized tablet, according to a rumour out of Taiwan. The Korean company is taking its successful screen- increasing phone strategy and applying it to slates, according to Digitimes, by making a 12.2-inch tablet.

The mega-tab will go into production towards the end of the year, sources in the Taiwanese supply chain reckon, with a new film-based capacitive touch layer from China’s Shenzhen O-film Tech.

Samsung’s been at the forefront of screen inflation with its ever-expanding Galaxy S series and gigantic Galaxy Notes – phones so big people started calling them ‘phablets’.
