However PMB have some options b4 his 8yrs expires

Now I know u don't understand telecoms business so there is no need discussing with u. Let us even assume all 5.2 million sims did 5 naira transaction daily like u assumed. Isn't there a cost to keep them communicating. Abi mtn just willed it and it happens. Sites must be powered, switches must be powered...expensive softwares are working, man power working 247 , ensure any time T, this is possible. So if u understand the business u will re-do your calculation that's too basic.

I definitely addressed the 100m fine. What is the 100m fine for? Ask people doing business with all these telecos and all will unanimously tell u mtn is the best to do business with. Why is mtn now having issues with only ncc?

U have failed to see my point. Fine mtn, but let it be a reasonable fine.. simple as ABC
the beauty of finance is it cut across every fibre of society... nothing is free not even the free rhapsodi being distributed. to people.

now lemme enlighten u ... I chose a small figure 5 to represent the minimum ... don't u know one unregistered SIM can spend 5000 naira a day on calls browising or whatver??

u talked about cost per SIM like there's a dedicated channel for each SIM not signals bouncing on DEDICATED SERVERS . if the telcos operating costs isn't manageable no Telco will gve tariffs that won't outweigh cost na.

also my opinion has always been simple which is NCC meted out the maximum punishment allowed by law simple... mtn appealled and got. a reduction .
what are they going to civil courts to do exactly? reduce fine? what power does a judge have to decide whether or not a fine should be slashed ?? lol

I know u want a more reasonable fine and that is why I pointed out the lesser fine meted out to other telcos not just mtn and they quickly adhered but MTN. DARED the NCC .

u arguing out of sentiment and fear .... it's not really ur fault it's the pdp gov that refused to allow u c naijas potentials .

What has that got to do with anything? So if someone is a lady means she shouldn't make sensible comments? And if she does, someone shouldn't point out her flaws to her?

Look, this is a public forum. Everyone is responsible for every comment made here. All we all do here is air our opinions and I will air mine regardless of the gender of any sobriquet. The way I will reply a guy is the same way I will reply a lady. Anyone who has a problem with that can go fuq a dead horse.

It's because Nairaland has a gender tag on each moniker that's why you are even saying what you are saying. That's why more advanced forums like Reddit for instance, doesn't place a gender tag on the usernames of it's registered members. That way, people can air their honest views without being all sentimental like you are being.

The decline of the oil industry is going to be worse on the states of Lagos and kano.

Lagos because an analysis of the igr of Lagos shows that Lagos derived it's revenue from the income tax and the income tax bulk is from the oil workers whose offices are in Lagos.
The oil and gas component of the Lagos igr is more than 40% of the igr. Income tax paid by high earning oil and gas industry executive who gross average of N5m monthly has helped Lagos

Secondly kano will be the worst hit as the only state whose take home is equivalent to the take home of niger delta states with their 13% derivative.

Kano doesn't have the human capital to generate income tax.

Third state /city is Abuja. It is said that Abuja was built with oil money, where would the money to sustain and maintain Abuja come from if not the same money from niger delta.

Some states like kwara, benue, adamawa can easily with agriculture fight the downturn of their economy, how would sokoto, yobe, jigawa whose populace don't farm and whose land is far from economic centres for export of agricultural products survive.

The next in line are the hausa cities of katsina, batching, kaduna who benefitted from the lopsided federal allocations. Now that the oil wealth is going and there is no human capital we hope they will not turn to insurgency as a means of raising attention and revenue.

The states that would enjoy and be kings in the new dispensation.

Anambra, Nigeria's brain box and commercial hub will have its non oil economy growth unequalled and unrivaled. Anambra survived with no oil allocation managed the little it had and built an enabling environment for investments.

Akwa Ibom, this state was blessed with resources and good managers who used it very well to grow infrastructure and are currently working on a sea port.

Abia this state hosts aba, Nigeria's city of enterprise and football, aba is living beyond oil already.
I have never been to akwa ibom... pls which INFRASTRUCTIRES are in akwa ibom?
PoliticsRe: Wike Introduces Security Stipends To Traditional Rulers by mrDennis(m): 5:38pm On Dec 30, 2015
DONSMITH123:
In a move to improve security across the communities of Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has approved the release of security stipends to traditional rulers to assist them enhance community security.

Addressing the 102nd Quarterly General Meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers on Wednesday, Governor Wike said that the security stipends will assist the traditional rulers to generate intelligence which will be forwarded to the security agencies for necessary action.

He said : “The security stipend to traditional rulers which will be disbursed to recognised traditional rulers will start from 2016. This stipend should not be used outside of gathering security intelligence.

“We shall also introduce special awards to traditional rulers who maintain peaceful communities. We believe these awards will encourage communities to take steps to improve security across the state”.

Governor Wike charged the traditional rulers to insulate themselves from partisan politics by ensuring that they remain neutral in all political matters.

He stated that being involved in politics diminishes the respect people accord to traditional rulers.

According to him : “You are custodians of customs and traditions and not custodians of politics. Your duty is to bless anyone that comes to you and not to make political pronouncements".

Speaking further, Governor Wike said that the support of traditional rulers played a key role in the achievements of his administration.

He noted that his administration has restored the dignity of traditional rulers, noting that he will continue to liaise with them to attain greater development.

In his address, the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, Amanyanabo of Opobo , commended Governor Wike for restoring the Quarterly General session of the council’s meeting. He said the last meeting was held over two years ago.

The Traditional Ruler commended the Governor Wike administration for the execution of pro-people development projects and the release of logistic support to security agencies.

I will not criticise Islam because I don't want someone to issue fatwa on me..

now to xtianity... the Jews didn't bring us xfianity ... the whites did ! the same whites that turned our forefathers to PROPERTY. and killing a black man amounted to the same thing as breaking your kitchen table lol

their pastors encouraged their followers to be racist as black men are not humans , yet even after blacks helped America win the war they were still not fully recognised as human beings .

yet it is this same foreign religion we carrying on our head? ... slowly the whites edited xtianity to include mini skirt to church , premarital sex , body piercings , tattoos , now homosexuality etc

yet we still carrying it on our head... Gambia presido just declared Gambia the "Islamic republic of Gambia". in a move he claims takes them further away from their colonial pasthuh Islam? another imported religion lmao .

our forefathers sacrficed twins and the practice worked. they sacrificed children goats etc to end droughts and it worked for them . they stopped sacrifices and started praying to the white man's God's and it worked . if they do stop anything religious... it will still work lol

Some one mentioned 90% of the pastors are fake. I am a christian and I think that in Nigeria and Africa, fake pastors and priest are close to 95-97%. It is only about 3-5% that I, think are fair enough to be called pastors or priest in Nigeria and Africa specifically. There is no spiritual descernment to this fact. It is a very clear fact. After so many years of job haunting and the rest of it.. some one suddenly picks up and says he is the General Oversee of one ministry or church...That is what you see in Nigeria. I suggest a legislature on illegal religious building or activities.
exactly ... the same priests that molested lil boys and girls blessed some families , they life became better .. but other families kids future spoilt because of the molestation.

so tomorrow when the priest is finally caught , the Catholic church will excommunicate him or whatever , the family of the kids will be in crisis ... but that man or woman the priest prayed for that now have jobs , kids or good health will be confused as to whether or not the man na fake.

that sums up 21st cent religion... how a man can have private jets (worldly things). & still remain rooted in Christ is a big question.

well if after all their wealth they still pastors (in Christ). or become merely motivational speakers quoting scripture is for The gods to know .

Mtn never had a monopoly. Econet launched their network first and Mtel was there when mtn launched, stop trying to twist history to suit your argument. By the time mtn lauched, customers have at least 4 options to choose from (Econet, Mtel, mtn and the old 090 lines by Nitel, they are mobiles too). You are the one being biased. Apple made astronomical profits by selling Iphones and they owe no one an apology. Obviously u are baised too because u are not stating facts.

50k fine for brt lane is not a relevant example under this circumstance.

I still do not understand how u wnat a company that hav invested billions to pay a fine that will not allow them break even for the next three years...

Do u think mtn has 700billion somewhere they will transfer into ncc account tomorrow at the click of a button?

Do u think banks will borrow a company money to pay fines? A company that owes some kind of loans already?

Everyone is talking about profits as if it is easy to make profit. The blacks man's mentality of sense of entitlement to someone else's hard work. Yes, that's the way I see it.

The fine is illogical and nobody can make me see governments reason for such a fine. 200k per sim, what is the average revenue per user? Did competition not naturally force prices down in telecommunications in Nigeria?

From the so called 50naira pe minutes and expensive sim to 10naira per minute to 100 naira sims. Which other commodity has dropped that much within the same span?

No company offers u cheap prices because they love u, superior products or services will always attract higher prices and the only way to force price down is not to demand for it but offer similar quality of products and services at lower prices.

My question is even if mtn pays this fine? What next? That's what everyone should b asking. Governors that couldn't pay salaries and got bailouts are already salivating on this urging ncc on...another revenue stream for all to share with nothing to show.

A reasonable fine based on mtns profits and financial profile should not be more that 100billion.

For every negative thing we post about mtn, there are 100 positive things they have added to the same economy. We all have to see it both ways hence we shoot ourselves in the foot. Don't Nigerians love shooting themselves in the foot?
actually u failed to break down the brt example... I mean the FINE is explicitly stated ... so the moment u encroach on the line u don't now start begging saying u only have 3k in ur pocket etc ...

mtn clearly knew the implication of what they were doing. , also u obviously not a finance guy cos u would know the same way politicians don't joke with 1 vote is the Sam's way corporate firms don't joke with 1 naira . let's do small calc

5naira spent by 5.2m Sims = N26m *7 days = N182m . so please stop acting like mtn didn't know the implication of their avtions. they just didn't expect the NCC hammer to fall so hard ! it's business they probably expected a fine in the millions which might have made up just 40-45% of their earnings on those unregistered Sims . MTN is a corporate entity stop arguing like they a roadside shop with no legal dept

even if the money is somehow mishandled by apc that's a seperate analysis ... first MTN MUST PAY. after all THERE WAS A SMALLER FINE (N100m). which u carefully ignore to mention that despite the fine and warning they didn't heed the directive of NCC.

forget goodwill ... it doesn't give anyone the right to repeatedly flout our laws.

I dey smile una comments. Mostly, those shouting MTN should pay. #780bn is a huge money to anyone but not to MTN..
The truth is that, should MTN decide to pay, then, we, the users of the network will be the ones that paid it. because they will pay the money, and only have to activate their ''hidden tarrif'' on every sim where they'll over charge u for every seconds of call without the users knowledge. Sms would go back to 4 naira. Data bundles will be drilled like no man's biz. Knowing how over 70 million people are connected to the internet...
Contrary to what i'm sayin, that punishment of 780bn is much. When even in the same govt., there are worse offenders who goes free.

And the contribution of the same MTN to our rebased economy under GEJ is the parameter that the APC govt is presenting as a surety to creditors for the mega loans they intend taking to fund 2016 budget.
Penalising defaulting firms did not start with Buhari & will not end with him.
Blaming GEJ for every ill in our coperate nation by Buhar's regime is an expression of irresponsibility.
as a staunch apc supporter (not member). I fully agree with your point.... they should BLAME PDP. and not just gej (tho we expected so much from the man without shoes )

but obj also failed too .

it's not about poverty, unemployment or social amenities.. I see NO STRCTURE. in Nigeria .no system
