BSdetector:
You made valid points but why must we depend on an intellectual who would probably intellectually sell us out......we Yoruba's are too book oriented, will an intellectual save you when herdsmen or bandits come and attack your villages, one of our intellectual who is a professor of law and a SAN is currently serving as vice/assistant to a school cert holder, what has this intellectualism gotten us as yoruba's when majority of our graduates are unemployed and without jobs yet bandits, militants and terrorists are being given armnesty and special treatment....I hope this intellectualism won't kill some of us.
This. I agree wholeheartedly with this. Educated morons is what I call them. The same educated people that essentially want an intellectual hand job to stroke their own egos. Nations aren't created simply by intellectual discussions. No country worth a damn was created without strife and conflict. Yorubas that want to avoid that need to come to this realization NOW. It is beyond naive, and it's usually the intellectuals that are dumb enough to believe this nonsense. I am an intellectual myself as well, but unlike others I realize the importance of soldiers that are aggressively patriotic to engage the every day Yoruba man and woman. People who only want a Banji Akintoye fail to realize he's been UNSUCCESSFUL for YEARS without Igboho. Yet Igboho comes on the scene and so many more people now talks about Akintoye. There's a reason for that. People like Igboho awaken the masses, Akintoye as an intellectual cannot. Period.

No, I'm telling you it's the British, not your Awolowo. Yoruba will not be missed by anyone if they were the ones agitating for exit. There's no oil in their land that's why. Everyone lives and die for oil in Nigeria and that oil is in Biafra. The British fought Igbo and Biafrans for the oil. What would anyone fight you for? You won'[t fight in any case because you do not have what it takes. Not the oil, not the bravery. The only reason Fulani are in your forest is to drive you guys and take over as they've already done in some areas. They're waiting for the right time for the final push. Thank God, ESN is a clog in their plans. But do not think that if they cannot make headway in the East, that they'll give up on you guys. They need a homeland and your land will do just fine considering that you guys lack real warriors to resist them.
There's nothing you can do to rewrite history. It's already written in stone. Awolowo was the strategist that ended the war swiftly without lifting a finger. The British and the Yorubas had mutual interests then. Now the Yorubas have stated they are wanting Oduduwa, and see how the British opinion on "Biafra oil" has changed again by granting you all asylum and going along with Yoruba sentiment against Nigeria. Or has the oil you are saying they are eyeing disappeared from the region? If it were up to the British like you say, they would still be supporting the Fulanis. But what is the one thing that change between 1967 and now? The tune of the Yorubas, and the British have changed their side.

They went against the Igbos in 1967, they're going against the Fulanis now. There's only one side they haven't gone against, it's the Yorubas. That is POWER and INFLUENCE. Or do you think when people say Some London neighborhoods are mini Lagos they're not talking about Yorubas? You really should be thanking Yorubas. Because had they not made the decision for Oodua, IPOB would have been fighting decades more for Biafra.

So a tribe of cowards can win a war?
Even your Awolowo and Gowon had British advisers teleguiding them. They had nothing to win that war without the British. It's just like the same British teleguiding the Fulani today to take over ancestral lands in exchange for oil and gas reserves. If you really think that the Yoruba can win war, what has been your response to thousands of Fulani occupying your forest and sending your people on exile while killing and raping your women and kidnapping and enriching themselves with ransom. We know tribes that can win wars in Nigeria and Yoruba is not even among the first 200 of 350 ethnic groups. Warrio0r tribes in Nigeria are known, even though these days many have been corrupted with money and drunkenness. Mention the Tivs, the Jukuns, the Igbo, the Kuteps, the Ijaws, Esan, Birom, Itshekiris, Binis, Andoni, Kanuris, even Ogoni and Annangs. Mostly smaller ethnic groups but warrior clans. No one mentions Yoruba when the issue is war or self defense. That's why today, without ESN, the south would have been overrun if anyone waited for Yoruba to have a response. In fact, I think the reprieve you guys enjoy is because Igbo are the real defenders of the south. Before you mention civil war again, that war was 300 ethnic groups against Igbo, That war was Britain, USSR, Czechoslovakia, Egypt and others against a new nation. British military advisers practically used whips to flog Nigerian soldiers that ran from Biafra back to the front lines. The records are there. On a level playing field, even Nigeria would not defeat Igbo. Take it to the bank. So before insulting Igbo, we all know the pusillanimous tribes in Nigeria. They'll mostly end up exiled if no help comes from ESN.
All of that typing, and the fact remains, it was Awolowo's strategy that won the war. Not Fulanis, not the UK. It is also Yorubas that are clamoring for Oduduwa that is now putting an end to this nation after you all have been trying since 1967 and have been failing for DECADES since then. Mainly because Yorubas stopped you before and kept doing so. We now realize Oduduwa is better for us than Nigeria, as Nigeria has nothing more to offer. Yorubas have all the POWER in Nigeria. It is why SW is the epicenter of Nigeria, and where everyone runs to. Power doesn't go elsewhere. People come to power.

You may not like it, but it's the BITTER TRUTH.

Lol Gowon ke, northerners couldn't do anything without Awolowo. That's why he stepped in, they were too illiterate to win a war at that time. Let's be clear, Yorubas won that war. Not the northerners. And they are losing the war now because Yorubas have turned on the Northerners because they don't know their place when it comes to Yorubaland. The balance of power has always shifted with Yorubas. Staying one country, dividing, winning a war. Wherever we pivot so too will Nigeria.

And Ojokwu betrayed Awolowo by declaring war when he said he wouldn't and would work towards federalism. Awolowo the hand of God. It goes to show the mind is ALWAYS the mightiest. One mans plans left millions in disarray. Ojokwu should have kept his troops in the SE instead of marching for Lagos. That was a deathwish, and death is what his troops received.

Lacks reasoning?

Most people in "Nigeria" then weren't even aware of who Fraud Luggard was or that he's lumping them together with strangers or what a "country" means. People only know about their traditional rulers and sadly, Luggard didn't even consult these traditional rulers when he was about to commit the abomination of creating a Nigeria.

There were no TV, radios and Internet access then. The only newspapers available then was only in cities like Lagos or Onitsha and I read on Luggard's biography that many columnists critised him for the move when it was announced but he didn't think highly of Africans. He says Yoruba people are partying dunces while Igbos are only interested in their farm while Hausa people couldn't give more care over whatever bullshit that was going on.

In the end, he disregarded the few people who even knew what he was doing let alone critisizing him and went on to create Nigeria.

The first thing Nigerians should have done when they finally got educated was dividing the fake foreign country. However the black man seems naturally greedy. Once they reach the seat of power the first thing they do is to loot money as much as they can until their tenure is over. When their tenure is over they retire and become useless "elder statemen" dishing out useless unsolicited advice that they couldn't give themselves when they were in government.

The best time to divide Nigeria was 100 years ago. The second best time is now.
Agreed 100%

Kaiii..I don't like talking to much..
World Power had interest in Nigeria due to oil but right now oil is becoming worthless..
Okonjo iweala I'm sure has enough contacts within the UN, World Bank etc to call for a favour and thereby stop Nigeria from accessing loans to persecute the war.

And you talk about bombing the East...you can't bomb the East without also touching part of the delta especially delta state which house large Igbos and also Nigeria oil.
The igbos will also destroy Nigeria oil installations etc
Also who say the Igbos can't purchase surface to air missiles to bring down your jets etc?...
Nigeria also can't afford top class warplanes like the F22 etc that can evade all these missiles.
Bro Nigeria will lose and lose well
is it not recently Boko Haram downed a Nigeria air Force jet?..who says the Igbos can buy all these weapons that can be able to down the Jets...it be guerrilla warfare..
Nigeria will lose.
How will Nigeria stop the Niger delta from destroying oil installations etc? especially the Igbos there and those sympathetic to them?..

And who told you the Igbos are collecting weapons from police?..when you saw the ESN personnel's did you see the weapons they were holding? it not Ak47 that Nigeria armies always hold and it ends up getting jam always.

Yes the Igbos might lose slot of people but who say those people can't migrate or run into others countries like Cameroon or even to the south...will Nigeria also bomb the south like Akwa ibom too?...if they do are they not doomed?

Nigeria will end bro..I'm sorry but that's the truth.
except we restructure now.
So Igbos are clamoring to have their own Cameroon IDP? Who knew they wanted to be like Yorubas to such an extent.

no that's false. The EU is essentially a trade area. Laws and the Judicial system largely belongs to each country, not the EU. If they were in one country and the British had to bow to a French president or vice versa, they might declare war on each other.

That someone would need to be uber powerful to be able to "force UK, Germany, and France in one country", or UK, Germany, and France would need to become very weak.

Still, wrong analogy. You seem to not be aware of the many nations that eventually got forced into becoming UK, Germany, and France.

Below is a map of the different countries in 6th Century what became Britain. Each is like Igboland, Yorubaland, Beninland, etc with their own king before it got forced into Britain by a uber powerful king.

Ref: Nation State
And you can clearly see the Irish and Scottish are seriously thinking of leaving the country. But using the UK is a bad analogy. They all speak the same language and have more similar cultures. That's more Akin to the Igboid and Yoruba ethnic groups rather than the example I'm making. Germany, France, and UK have separate languages and cultures. That's more in line with my thought experiment. If they were one country, would it be successful?
PoliticsTo One Nigerianists: Can France, UK, And Germany Be One Country And Thrive? by MrMaestro(op): 3:49pm On Apr 20, 2021
Serious question, when considering Nigeria people like to downplay the diversity of culture Africa has, especially West Africa. And they don't do that when it comes to the west. If someone forced the UK, Germany, and France in one country, do you think there would be peace in that country? Please give your thoughts.

Don't Misquote Me, My Position Now Is Self-Determination For Yoruba People— Gani Adams
Adams was speaking at a conference as seen in a video that has now gone viral on the internet.

he Aare Onakankafo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has said he is in full support of self-determination and not restructuring as is being propagated in some quarters.

Adams was speaking at a conference as seen in a video that has now gone viral on the internet.

Gani Adams
According to him, a major step in moving the country forward could be on either self-determination or regionalism.

He referred to the Republican Constitution of 1963 which, he said, allows for federating units to develop at their own pace.

He said, “The constitution that presents Nigeria as a country in 1960 and the republic constitution that our forefathers wrote politically in 1963, this gives room for federating units to be uninterrupted, this gives room for regionalism, this gives room for every federating units to develop at their own pace.

“We have six federating units that were agreed in the constitutional conference in 1995/96, Abacha government, the six zones can be changed to the region and each region can develop at their own pace. That's the minimum demand for determination. I don't want our people to misquote me that I'm coming back to restructuring, my own position now is self-determination.

“When you are fighting a war, maybe intellectual war or psychological or political war, you'll prepare for a negotiation. After everything, you will now come to the table and negotiate. I believe that will be the best of interest for the Yoruba people because this is about interest.

“Some people will talk about unity when you are talking about unity, you don't want me to talk about the influence on my own locality, you don't want me to talk about the influence on my local government, my community and my own region. Politics is purely a local interest and everything that happened is local, from the community to local government, state and federal government.

“I believe it is highly imperative to move this country forward. If you want to move this country forward, it should be on two sides, either self-determination or regionalism and the for regionalism in the constitution, the powers are now concentrated in the confederacy. Assuming we allowed confederacy in our constitution, our brothers in the North will not do what they have done to us in the course of almost 60 years.

“We know how the Yoruba nation started, when Obafemi Awolowo left government, took over self-government in 1959, we know what we achieved within the period of five years of self-government and we know what happened to us in Yorubaland between 1960 and 1966 before the military came and concrete our federalism on January 15, 1970, by Aguiyi Ironsi and since then, the centre could not hold.

“So far, we have been living together in mutual suspicion. Like what Prof Banji Akintoye said, we are a country, not a nation because when you are living on the basis of mutual suspicion, you're not a nation.”
