obynzo:This is an absolute LIE. They have investments in both business and the stock market. |
You all done understand. it’s all a part of their development of India. |
Twist out how you like. People on the ground respect and admire Tinubu. E-warriors remain inconsequential. |
This is a great development. Depending on the development it could lure global Yorubas in Brazil, Benin and elsewhere to visit the site.
|
Dsalvo:Unfortunately they can’t do either. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Igbos are lucky to be in a country with Yorubas. Yorubas give everything that is worthwhile in this country. If they were stuck with just northerners and all other tribes in Nigeria the country would be no different than Somalia or South Sudan. Again, when you talk about black African tribes across the continent Igbos don’t come close to even the Zulus of South Africa or the Akan of Ghana in historical and current significance, y’al talk less of the Yoruba. If the lines were drawn differently by the Europeans in the Berlin conference and igbos weren’t tied to Yorubas, no one would even care they exist. I can’t even name Somalian or South Sudanese tribes. |

YORUBAS Dominate Top 40 List of Africa Digital Companies. Fix the header to this to show the truth. |
ChinenyeN:Well thanks for the historical analysis! I’ll take a look at some of the sources you listed as well. |
GDP continues to grow despite declining growth in oil revenue. Financial institutions, Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Telecoms are driving the non-oil growth. Don’t look now but Nigeria is modernizing away from oil. Let’s start to celebrate what we’ve all been asking for!!! |
Safe travels Mr. President. |
alanto:I’ve come to the conclusion that Igbos really do fear the Yorubas coming into their own political power. They’ve attempted to handicap them at every level because they KNOW once given the opportunity we will be entrenched in power at the federal level irrespective of if we’re president or not. They don’t really fear the Fulanis like they do Yorubas. They know if a true Yoruba from Yoruba soil were to become president we won’t only control the most economically prosperous region, but also the presidency. Entrenching power that even northerners can’t reach. This scares them because we would effectively achieve what they initially wanted to do since before the Civil War. They’ve tried to prevent this by voting in Obasanjo (who has an Igbo mother) over MKO Abiola, knowing MKO was the preferred candidate of the region. But this time is different. People are adhering to history. Yorubaland has never truly had their prime Yoruba choice to become president. 2023 will be the first time. And Nigeria will be better because of it. Hate him or love him, Tinubu is able to put in plans of succession. If he can create the Lagos Masterplan as far back as 1999, I’m sure he has learned a lot from that experience and do better for Nigeria as a whole using his experience in 2023. |
jesmond3945:Tell your kinsmen to stop being dirty and clean the market before you give us all cholera. She was right to close the market. |
ChinenyeN:When and how did this “Igbo” identity start? And what was the reason behind it? |
Ingocof:Yes ooo. His cronies have looted it dry. |
Lagos is becoming like Hong Kong was in the 90s. Things are changing. Seeing more white and Chinese people. |
DubaiLandLord1:It’s wrong when it prevents them from doing whatever they want. But when it was giving them a clean and organized environment to sell things when they first arrived they weren’t complaining. Now that they’re making money they want to complain. We’ve had iya loja’s from time immemorial. They need to follow the customs of Yorubaland or leave. |
Wiseandtrue:it’s in Yoruba culture. If you don’t like it you can leave. It’s that simple. If you don’t follow the rules of China, US, England, India, you will be arrested and business shut down. Honestly she should’ve started shutting down some of their businesses and given them the Ghana treatment. And watch them come back with brooms to clean the market. |
Let this be a thread on Tinubu or Lagos it would’ve reached page 20 already. |
Agreed 100%. He’s the most qualified. That’s just a fact. |
Seun360:Now it all makes sense. |
Asgard73:I’m glad you said this because this response highlights another element wrong with this country, igbos and their insanity. The insanity, lack of decorum, emotionally driven, reckless acting and thinking is poisoning the Southwest and Yorubas. And this Endsars situation is Exhibit A. ZERO fact, no death certificates, no pictures, emotional and narrative driven conclusions. A lack of accountability as the protesters think they can destroy Lagos and not expect to get curtailed by law enforcement. ALL of this is TEXTBOOK Igbo culture. Compare Yorubanation protests with End SARS and see the difference crystal clear. It’s the same reason why the south east is damn near a no go zone with militants popping up every other week. Protesting happening every other day. Traditional rulers getting killed randomly. Those people are addicted to chaos. Give them Biafra and I’ll give it 4 weeks before they start the cycle of coups and become worse than Somalia. Yorubas need to wake up!!! really need to go our separate ways!! |
plaindealer:What’s worse is these are the same people that are saying they’re fighting for Nigeria. If these are the people fighting for Nigeria, this country is trash and irredeemable. Someone should just hit reset, start over or go our separate ways. No country is built on revolution through dubious, misleading, corrosive means. Zero integrity, they just want attention. Absolutely shameless. |
Thinkam:Or Peter Obis magic wand to not declare assets while in office to hide his funds. Or Atikus magic wand in all the criminal activities he’s been a part of? If you want to go there people can go there with every politician in Nigeria . But I can tell you when it comes to accomplishments no other comes close. If they did you would’ve listed them already. |
Igboland:Agree 100%. The days of lip service is over. If you have another candidate that’s better. List their ACCOMPLISHMENTS and let’s compare. I could care less if you like them or not or how they make you feel. |
Thinkam:Lagos was no where close to where it was now. And didn’t have the level of IGR growth Tinubu brought to it. That’s just a statistical fact. And to answer your question, there isn’t another candidate that comes close to his ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Emotions aside. If you all want to continue to suffer by electing incompetent fools that can only give you lip service and make you feel good. Go right ahead. But if you want a strong competent leader that will do what it takes to get Nigeria into a better position either due to genuine care for the country or simply based on his own ego of being great (which is fine with me), then the answer is clear. It’s Tinubu by a mile. Otherwise, give me an alternative candidate and list their accomplishments. I’ll patiently wait. |
Clearly people don’t know Tinubu and what he’s accomplished, so let me give you a refresher. Let’s start with politics. In February 2013, Tinubu's negotiations in creating a "mega opposition" party became paid off with the merger of Nigeria's three biggest opposition parties – the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the new PDP (nPDP), a faction of serving governors of the then ruling People's Democratic Party[33] – into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Elected in 1999 Tinubu immediately came in with a mind of restructuring and devolution of powers. He was involved in a struggle with the Olusegun Obasanjo-controlled federal government over whether Lagos State had the right to create new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to meet the needs of its large population. The controversy led to the federal government seizing funds meant for local councils in the state (I’ll come back to this later). He would be one of the first governors in the country to challenge the unitary system. Irrespective of that scuffle and seizing of funds in the state, he was able to still persevere through that to grow Lagos in leaps and bounds! Let’s look at the IGR trajectory of Lagos during his tenure: 1999 (14.6 billion), 2007 (83.06 billion). He grew Lagos IGR 470%. A NUMBER THAT HAS STILL YET TO BE MATCHED BY HIS PREDECESSORS. EVEN WITH SEIZING OF HIS FUNDS. Most important he set the foundations for revenue growth that the state is still building in until this day. Later year IGR growth are as follows: 2015 (276.6 billion) (Ambode: 230%); 2020 (418.99 billion) (Sanwo Olu 51%). Most importantly he put in a succession plan and with focus and clout ensured it reigned for YEARS. Meaning projects completed through different governors and the state was able to build on previous advancements. Something nearly EVERY other state still struggles with. There isn’t another candidate that comes close to his ACCOMPLISHMENTS. |
Nonpartisan1:These are all questions that needs to be answered. I’m all for the youth to change up the status quo and fight for a better Nigeria, but this is NOT how to do it. One of the panel members was awarded 10 MILLION?!? Why?!? And they split it with other members?!? These are the SAME TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT WILL GIVE NIGERIANS HEADACHE WITH CORRUPTION 10YRS FROM NOW IF THEY GO INTO POLITICS! That’s why it is imperative to seek TRUTH irrespective of who is scrutinized. People just want to ignore all of these errors and flat out lies in the report because it’s coming from the endsars panel. EVERYONE must be held accountable for Nigeria to move forward. We still are not serious. Mtchewww |
LegendHer0:You mean the man that has overseen the largest economic state in the entire West African region? The man who has been a part of building the party brick by brick? The man that has modernized the entire state tax collection and investment system, raising it billions in IGR since his reign? THAT MAN?!? Nigerians are brain dead if they choose anyone else. There is no one else that comes close to his political steadfastness over the years, and his leadership in development. If you choose another candidate that DOESNT COME CLOSE to what Tinubu has accomplished economically under his domain and politically in building the party, you have no brain. Only emotions. There are MANY Blacks that can only think with emotion. Luckily they aren’t the majority. |
But wait. I thought they owned Lagos? How can they be locked? |
Wow this thread really can open a lot of peoples eyes. |
