eph12: Are the players better than what's being offered now?
Goals conceded Aston villa - 13 Southampton, west ham, wolves - 19 Manchester United - 23
Do those teams that have conceded less have better defenders than us? Once again it’s a mixture. The fact is they have conceded less goals than us so they are defending better than we are. You cannot attribute it to a single thing. |

eph12: So its not like those players are not good enough, but they are good and require some coaching to fit together as a team and defend properly? It’s 50/50. Those defenders aren’t as good as most of us think and the coaching isn’t doing enough to get them defending well. |

Leyqute: I’m not even about title or no title. I just want us to gather 80 points and above. That will be a marked improvement from the last 3 seasons or so. I think Jose got 81 points in his last full season. |

You should not always have to score 2+ goals to win matches or get a result to be a title challenging team. Defence is simply not good enough.
Again its defence that will win you titles.
Before Liverpool got Alison and VVD. They played exactly the same way they were playing now. But finished 4th and below. If we don't sort out our defence we will keep fighting for 4th place.
23 goals conceded in 14 games is disgusting. |

afrodoc2: It is good enough but our manager is suspect. The only reason many people are not confident we would mount a challenge is our manager. The squad itself is the best we have had in close to a decade.
Now i am not saying we are going to win or indeed that we must win. However we should be able to push on and at least give the eventual winners a fight for their money. I think our squad on a whole is good but I still think it lacks balance and that's where it can fall short as a title challenger. They say defense wins titles but can you honestly say you're confident in our defence keeping cleansheets? We still dont have a proper solution for the right side of the team. And then of course you have Ole who is like his team, inconsistent. Has some great results with some woeful ones. The main reason I see us in a title challenge is because no one else is that good, apart from Liverpool. |

That was a really entertaining match. Ole did really well today. I was still not happy to see Dan James but he was ok and got a goal. Leeds really came to play as they always do. We were so clinical today and really put them to the sword. Big 3 points.
P.S - I don't like our defence. |

nitrogen: I dont think you understand my point. There is no assumption here, I am comparing Moyes’ output to OGS’s in terms of points.
Also, this thing is not rocket science, compare a year when a league leader amassed 81 points and the club that comes 4th (say Arsenal) gets 70 points, and another year where a leader got 100 points and the same club, this time in 3rd position got 66 points, what does that tell you about Arsenal fc? Is that progress?
I don’t know why you are not getting it sha. Anyway, whatever rocks your boat! Moyes didnt get 64 points at Man utd. He was sacked with 4 games left to the end of the season. We got another 7 points after he was sacked so Moyes had 57 points on the board when he was sacked at man utd. |
