Kai. Smalling that kicks the ball as if he is kicking car tire. I was waiting to see Maguire's much lauded passing range only to see basic passes that continental CBs make on the regular, and he spends 7 days and 7 nights on the ball before making the pass.

At least Maguire doesnt treat the ball like its been doused in petrol the way Smalling does.

The mental pressure of playing at United is different from the mental pressure of playing at Leicester. And going by his response to his court case he is mentally fragile.

The difficulty level for a slow and fat CB to play with a low block like in Leicester is different from playing in a much higher block like at United.

The exposure level when playing with an energetic and quick DM like Ndidi as your screen is different to when playing with slow Matic as your screen.

He is not a crap defender but he is definitely not as good as advertised to us. Definitely not worth 80m.

He also suffered the John Stones hype effect. Him being an English CB that's a little comfortable on the ball immediately means he's hyped beyond reason. Not all his fault, they have seen Smalling trying to progress with the ball at his feet.

Manutd be offering big money to undeserving players anyhow, see martial earning £250k every Thursday yet his performance week in week out doesn't justify what he earns. If he didnt sign Bruno in January we would have been sacked around then. We were so far from Top 4 in Dec he just got lucky. I'm not convinced the same thing will save him this time. But we shall see.

its not his fault. We got conned into paying 80m for him. He was never that level of a defender. He's a good player but 80m is a bridge too far. Almost as big a mistake is then making him the man utd Captain. That was a disgraceful decision among other terrible decisions that shows why united are where we are right now.

On another note, the club has decided not add Jones,Romero and Rojo to the CL squad. Those 3 are probably costing over £300k+ in wages. Why not just let them go?

I think its important to remember that in the entire History of Man utd, only 5 other players have scored more goals for man utd than Ole.

Its clear you never watched Ole at man utd.

We can have a conversation about Ole not being good enough to manage man utd. But as a player, he was termed 20Legend before he even left the club for a reason. Dont forget he finished his career as a right sided attacker. If not for several major injuries he's output who have been even higher. Of course the Cl final goal endeared him mostly to fans but even before then, he scored 4 goals off the bench in a match and also several big game goals. He had a career most would dream of as a united player. So keep that separate from Ole the manager.

Chief, the leaky nature of our defence is based more on our coaching and defense system than the defenders. Against Spurs, their Wingers were usually drifting inward dragging our FBs inside providing space for their FBs to bomb forward. I was shocked on numerous occasions where we couldn't defend this simple strategy. Our wingers (Greenwood and Rashford) were supposed to track and defend against their fullbacks or defend using the zonal system, where the DM would track the winger coming inside towards the 18 yards box.

Agaisnt Brighton they explored us with one of the benefits of playing the 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 systems. I repeat we actually have more of a coaching problem than a personnel problem.

Both things can be true. We have a personel problem with the defence and also a coaching problem.

The back 4 are not bad defenders but they are not great defenders in anyway. the Back 4 yesterday +Lindelof all glaring individual weaknesses. Without a coach who can find a way for those weaknesses to be hidden. More of yesterday will happen.

I hope the Bruno-Maguire incident is true.
