Recency bias I guess. Fred was probably our most consistent performer in the first half of the season before Christmas. But the team didnt do very well in that first half. In the 2nd half when we were better he wasnt one of our stronger performers.

I'm serious. You remember that Sevilla and Copenhagen matches we played in the Europa league? It clearly shows midfield is not really our problem but our defense and attack.
Thiago is a good midfielder but I don't think we really need him this moment. We've got more pressing needs than this.

The reality is he upgrades pretty much every single midfield in the world. It might seem like we're creating our own problem in midfield but I think if we can get him and replace one of the others, likely Fred then its an upgrade. however, I'm happy with our midfield options as is.

Its more likely that we're just be used as a pawn in this deal and we're not a serious option.
