rationalmind: And that was just what I originally said. I never said I had an explanation to what happened. I only said the incidence made me more skeptical about issues. I reasoned it might have been a coincidence whilst also not ruling out the possibility of it not being a coincidence.

I however have a question. Plaetton and any other are welcome to answer.

It is a known fact that the brain is active during sleep. It is also a known fact that it is less active during sleep. If the probability of guessing a score between 50 and 59 by a fully active brain is 1 out of 10.

Wouldn't the odds of a less active brain ( during sleep) guessing the score increase?
the brain is MORE active during sleep.

nevertheless, it is not a question of your brain playing baba ijebu. it just so happens that you were fully tuned into that situation and your mind coincidentally got the score right. no biggie. you dream everyday bro. everybody does. you forget 70% of it within 10mins of waking up and most of the time the dreams are fragments and make no complete sense. inevitably, it will happen that one out of the thousands of your dreams will manifest in reality.

quick question: Have you ever dreamt of somebody you don't know?

striktlymi: NATURE OF PRE-WORK TASK FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE:

Good day Team members,

You have been chosen specially to be part of this year's 'awards night' planning committee. Your responsibilities include but not limited to drawing out a 'road map' for the successful organisation of the coming elections. Note that the success or failure of this year's elections, lie squarely on your shoulders and as such, you guys need to be diligent with the work the section has entrusted to you.

To succeed in this arduous task you all need to work together as a team. I know that a lot of you are used to working individually on this forum whilst achieving your desired goals but that approach will not work here. Teamwork is key, and this include working together with the mods as one indivisible unit. In as much as the mods do not have a say on how you come about the rules for the elections, you are expected to keep them updated on your progress.

This task will not be just another work in the park...far from it. You are expected to come up with a blueprint for the elections that would be regarded as one of the best and the pride of nairaland. In order for you to succeed in this 'quest' I have deviced a series of pre-work tasks which every member of this team must partake and excel in before embarking on the main task proper.

For each pre-work task completed, each team member will score a point which boils down to either a "Fail" or a "Pass". An all "pass" means the team succeeds in its quest while for any individual "Fail" obtained, every team member "Fails". Do note that teammates can help each other out in achieving any specific task assigned.

Your first task is to ensure every team member arrives in this thread at exactly 8 pm nairaland time.

Goodluck!

#If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Thank you!

plaetton: I have, and believe me, mass Hysteria is real and scientific.

I never like basketball, but when I was in Orlando to watch a game between Orlando and Texas a few years ago, i instantly turned into a fanatic there on the stadium.
The energy was incredible.
This is what religious folks would call holy ghost or holy spirit power.

Whenever large groups of people gather in celebration they generate this energy that surges through the gathering.
This is one of the secrets of religions their temples.
Most temples are masterfully planned and built to harness and channel this energy.

In the past, those who understood this phenomenom designed and built temples and churches using sacred mathematical ratios on sacred sites, along leigh lines, in an attempt to align the structures with real or imagined energy points.

In other words, temples and churches are, in their original formats, supposed to be giant talismans, designed and built to draw cosmic energy.
The drumming, the trumpeting, the singing of hymns, etc were all for the purpose of charging and elevating the energy within the temple or church to the desired threshold wherein it is supposed to draw the desired cosmic energy, what religious people call blessings.
this is what I expected Ranchoddas to think about but then...its easier to shout GOD!!!

Christianity EtcRe: Has Anyone Noticed The Increase In Numbers Of Pagans And Agnostics/deists Here? by MrTroll(m): 2:59pm On Oct 14, 2013
Ranchhoddas: there is no need.and you also have a need to disbelieve the extraordinary
on the contrary, I do not have a need to disbelieve. In fact the need to believe in a higher power is something we inherited from our ancestors. Now though, I need concrete evidence to believe and sadly there's no evidence for the supernatural. All what we have seen so far are charlatans...

In fact, I don't believe in anything. Facts don't need to believed, only accepted. Belief requires no evidence...extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Get that.

@rational mind, do you know how many dreams you have each night? Do you know that you forget more than 70% of them within 10 minutes of your waking up? What makes you think that your brain guessing out a score whose odd is about 1 in 10 has something to do with the supernatural? Really man?

@the rest, many pastors have been found to be fake so it is safe to assume without concrete scientific evidence that the other 'miracles' are make believe. If I may ask, do you personally know anybody that was physically deforrmed and was later magically healed?

I want atheism to grow in Nigeria but not by force. I would love to have talk shows and debates. But still, there are some atheists that will claim that I want to remove all traces of religion like some Stalinist.

Debates only change the minds of those who are willing to learn. No amount of debate will stop Joagbaje from believing in in tithes or texting demons

zomoears: D way singles r into this marriage topic nw en...it's beginning to sound like life stops n marriage starts! I mean, marriage is part n parcel of life o! Just that u live with someone else, become less selfish, more patient n strategic!

In matters of sexuality, be sure that d desire doesn't die, u just learn to channel it n enjoy it and savour it! You use sex to heal ur home, to cool ur wife when she is loosing her centre of gravity, to manage ur anger n ensure emotional stabiity as a man, among other things . Sex is still fun in marriage, but takes a greater significance n broader application. It stops been something u do just to go n brag to d boys.
To be honest, its the selfish part that's really diFficult. For example, for the past 2 weeks I've been travelling around without having to explain myself to anybody, sleeping wherever I want etc and having to explain myself at every turn though...

The main point of the OP though is to find out if what I'm thinking is actually true, whether young couples can go months without having the Urge or if they actually have the urge but for some reason do not phuck their spouse for one reason or the other. In the movie I referenced for example, they both had the Urge both couldn't say or act it out. On the other hand, the couple I talked with, the man specifically said that he had not had the urge. I was quite surprised sha cos they were a young couple...it got me wondering. undecided

tpia@:
i wonder why nlers feel bachelors do not have periods of celibacy?

a 42 or 60 year old bachelor or a 42 or 60 year old married man, you really think the bachelor will be having sex 24/7 or three times a day?

you folks probably will get depressed once you hit 30/35, if you think unending sex is all there is to life.
as usual you manage to miss the point...

GeneralShepherd: A belief or lack of it thereof will not change Nigeria.

infact removing religion will be like childsplay compared to serious issues like the quota-system and tribalism in Nigeria
I'm not advocating for the abolishment of religion, just total separation from state.

That is one of the problems of Nigeria....
FamilyRe: Married Couples Only, Pls Advice! by MrTroll(op): 9:09pm On Oct 13, 2013

Christianity EtcRe: Atheist Hangout- UPDATE (Atheist Sermon- THE STORY OF GALLORAN) by MrTroll(m): 6:34pm On Oct 13, 2013
There's something off with this narrative...

You didn't specify what made Seuns business to fail. I don't think any belief or lack thereof will make or mar any business except in cases where it is the religious connections that help or hinder(as the case may be) progress, as is the case with Nigeria.

Be that as it may, I think the strategy for now should be to get more people to question their beliefs, especially the youths. We need to gather more numbers so that in the next, say 20 years we will have enough sceptics and irreligious people that will be able to influence politics and governance; make nigeria a truly secular state in terms of its laws and operation. There is no hope for our current crop of leaders so our priority should be for the youths and younger generation...

The priority now should be education, proper all round education. The next generation should have the ability to think properly and make rational decisions irrespective of their (un)belief...

It will be a long walk, probably out living us all but wherever we are, we should at least make effort to dispel the notion that atheists are evil people who can do no good. As for me, my specific discipline and skill set have made me somewhat indispensable in the Nigerian public health sector irrespective of my unbelief. I've had 2 immediate bosses who know I'm irreligious and it had had no negative impact on our work relationship although I'm careful around co-workers and patients...

Be professional, have integrity and try not to compromise on your values and when people eventually find out that you don't go to church or mosque, it will come as a shock and your respect will double...smiley

FamilyMarried Couples Only, Pls Advice! by MrTroll(op): 10:34am On Oct 13, 2013
So I was seeing this couple about 2 months ago in my place of work... They brought a complaint about the breastfeeding wife... after some evaluations she was diagnosed of PID(never mind, the real gist is coming) and as I was prescribing and giving advice, I casually mentioned to the man that they have to lay off the Sex for the duration of her treatment(about a week) and the man promptly responded that its not a problem that they've not Done The Deed for more than 5 months now shocked shocked. I was quite surprised because they're a young couple albeit very religious(DLBC wink ) so I chalked it up to their over religious fervour and promptly forgot about it...fast forward to about 3 days ago, I was watching this movie by Chris Rock(I think I love my wife) and the whole movie revolved around how lack of sex was putting a strain on their marriage and how it starts gradually etc etc

So my question is... Does it really happen frequently in marriages? I mean young couples(by this I mean the woman being less than 45) just quitting sex for no apparent reason? I'm a young and very active( wink embarassed ) bachelor and I just can't imagine myself being married and not phucking my wife regularly if we are both healthy and able. I mean how busy can I get? Abi e no go de sweet again?

Pls advice angry
