I agree to Macofs suggestion.

As to who can nominate, I propose that only religion section regulars nominate, at least the poster should have made up to 30 posts in the religion section. This is to prevent people registering new monikers just for nominations sake or getting their friends from other sections to nominate them.

Alfa Seltzer: I am thinking, the 2 members with most nominations in each category will stand up for vote.

As for the bolded, we are a team here and as a team we adopted 5 awards. Even though some of us were against it, I think it is better if we work as a group once something has been adopted and not leave it for those that voted it as if we have factions here. Let's try and work together on this thing. Ok?
ok embarassed

But I dont have any new suggestions for 4 and 5.

Alfa Seltzer: Nomination is not voting. If people are going to vote who they nominate, we might as well do away with voting. Sometimes more than 1 person deserve an award. You nominate them and let people chose who merits it more. Moreover it is not a must to nominate two people. You can nominate only person if you like but others should be able to nominate more than one if they choose.
I understand that nomination is not voting. But you dorealise that the nominations are gonna be plenty and then we will have to cut it down to say, 5 final nominees so a persons nominee might not make the final cut and then he/she will have to vote for the finalists. That way, we make sure the nominees are not too much blah blah blah...

As for the last 2 awards, the people who voted for 5 awards should come up with something...
Christianity EtcRe: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by MrTroll(m): 8:39am On Oct 17, 2013
@Alfa, I don't understand what you mean. Like a member can nominate 2 persons for each category? If yes, I don't think its wise.

This is because if its gonna be 1 man 1 vote for each category then there's no need to nominate 2 members when you're eventually going to vote for only 1. I suggest 1 man, 1 nomination for each category.

striktlymi: I took a look at the 'panel thread' and noticed that there seem to be a tie and one decisive vote is needed to tilt the scale...I guess that's the reason for the question.

Well it seems to me that you guys have two choices:

1) Go find pagan 9ja and get him to know how important it is to turn up at the meetings (not just turn up to vote). He needs to be there to debate a position when there is need for it.

Or

2) Propose a motion in the 'house' to have him replaced and if it is fine by every other member, you guys can pick one more person from the initial list of 12 nominees. I can help get whoever you choose.

The ball is squarely in your court.
what do you guys think about this suggestion?

Christianity EtcRe: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by MrTroll(m): 6:29pm On Oct 16, 2013
@atmc, pls understand that our work here is to form a plan on how this years award is going to look like, not to decide who should win what. Let's not overstep our bounds pls.

Your argument is shallow but I don't want to waste time arguing it. Let's do our job and leave who wins what for the voters...

I vote for 3 awards.

We should let the voters decide who gets to win the best religious SECTION poster. We are all in the religious section, you don't have to be religious to win an award where you frequent and post.
HealthRe: Surgery Done With a 'rechargeable lamp' In Nigeria... by MrTroll(m): 2:45pm On Oct 16, 2013
I'm in the health sector and I have this to say...

Y'all should start suing our arsses. Yes! When a patient dies, investigations should be carried out and all involved parties sued, the doctors, pharmacists, anaesthetists etc. Only when we get our head out of the clouds and realise that GOD!!! Has no hand in the death of ANY patient will we sit up and assert our rights.

When people start suing left right and center, we will sit up and then the govt will start listening to our demands angry

Funny people. Suddenly now its about the context. Ancient morality and all what bullshit. No be god supposedly give them the law? An all knowing perfect unchangeable god? The bullshit they expect us to swallow...

@OP, what does your common sense tell you? The bible is full of bullshit and if nobody can come up with any valid reason or evidence to show how sex is spiritual except by bible thumping then you know what to do...»»»»»»»»wink

Alfa Seltzer: Why don't we let others express their opinions first?

In listenening to you, I warmed up to your idea of 3 awards instead of two. Let's see if others have more reasons. There is no need to rush this at this time. We have up to 2 weeks.
ok then. We wait...

Whatever Yahweh deems it to be. Like... Not eaten pork, not wearing clothes made of some specific materials, not accepting bullshit etc.

But slavery is ok though, likewise genocide etc as long as he ordered it.

But if you try to object based on rationality and common sense though...HELL!!!!!!!
Christianity EtcRe: End Of Year Awards Organisation Thread. Panel Members Only by MrTroll(m): 12:23pm On Oct 16, 2013
We have not concluded on this...
Mr Troll: should we put it to a vote then?

The religious get to nominate for the best religious poster while the irreligious get to nominate for the best non religious poster, then everybody gets to vote.

I put the 1st vote in favour.
We have 3 votes in favour now...

I, Ishilove and Divepen. One more to go before the next agenda.

Christianity EtcRe: Is This Worth Celebrating, Where Is Our Morality? by MrTroll(m): 10:11am On Oct 16, 2013
wiegraf: Many reasons, of course. Peer pressure, groupthink, etc, makes people blind. At the extreme end, have you heard of Miligram's experiment?

So most people are fine with questionable scenarios so long as they are told it's alright by authority figures, and the bible/koran is the authority in their lives. A mad man killing his child because GOD!!?? is good because the bible says so. GOD??! making such an 'evil' request is good because the bible says so. Actually, it isn't eveil, and anyone who thinks otherwise is bad and will roast in hell for eternity because the bible says so, etc.

To be fair, many don't even stop to contemplate the nature of the story. Many are simply so foo.lish, they don't actually see the problem. Indoctrination's effects, etc etc. Anyways, humans, most of us, are monsters (simply look at how we treat other animals for instance)
and then they brazenly tell you that you do not know what good is if you don't believe iin their sky monster...that all morality comes from him. Such nonsense arrogance angry
