I want to believe you can wait. I have a full section of this structure (K-024) having exactly what you're asking.

You can use corrugated galvanized deck sheet and pour concrete to make it flat roof.

In my case, being an internal slab over the masters suite, I'm using marine boards which will be acting as backerboards for my tiles.

I believe it won't be a long wait. Fabrication already in progress.

There were test carried out here sometimes ago by Engineer Aventures and some other person that detailed how granite and stone-dust was more stronger. But in a fence pillar, I think stone-dust is overkill, but granite is always stronger than gravels as I was told..
I am not an Engineer, just telling you from what I have heard and read from various Engineers, I may be wrong though.

If you don't plan to plaster and planned to have it covered in vines, you'll be better off using engineered bricks (ie blocks made with stone dust) and get good sharp sand for mortar. Gravel and stone dust mix could also work for the concrete.


So, you can go for a Stone Dust + Gravel mix for the concrete works.

Sand vs Stone Dust.. depends on what you are using it for.

My decking was done with Granite and Stone Dust by a reputable Engineer and Builder.

We have a way of doing things here but it's not all bad.

As part of my builds we always work with the community and my client's neighbors to ensure we have a smooth build. These things have happened a few times and we have been able to work with the neighbors in such cases. Not all are bad but majority are.

I will show some of the fences that we did with corporation with the neighbors.

In the moment we don't have creepers because we are focusing alot in trees. But i can propose some types you can find in Nigeria : Bougainvillea Spectabilis,Creeping Fig,Galphimia vine and White bougainvillea

I built all four corner fence for my two plots... and one guy is also abroad decided to add two courses to his side after I have had done
about 9 courses... when I was away. I came back, ask him to take it off and if any of my already built courses is damaged he will be in for a surprise. I told him he was building on my land... because the fence is on my land... if he is determined he should raise another fence parallel to mine on his land... he begged and I say NO. Told him "You were there when I was building this fence becos you even met me there one day when my guys were working there.. you didn't even utter a word or even Hello (greetings)...
Two days after he removed the courses... Can you imagine he has not even fenced the other sides of his land... Morons plenty for Naija.

I just did my fence and it happened to be a savings grace.

I personally wouldn't even approach the neighbors.

Lastly, one piece of advice. If you are going to start construction, dont fence yourself in, leave some parts of the fence, if you are not constructing yet and just want to secure the land, then fence all around.

Trust me in my case it was a complete waste of time. I asked my neighbours for over 4 months and they kept posting me. After that they stopped picking their phones and it nearly resulted in full on insults so I had to bite the bullet and do the fence myself.

Most Nigerians never contribute to anything unless it is directly impacting them in a way that they cant avoid. if not it wont happen.

Just look at all the beautiful houses in some nice areas and then check out the roads they reside on and you see where I am coming from.

I mean those half cutting blocks, we normally use it for completing a space which a full block can't size, those half are not counted.

I delibrately make sure the bricklayer does not lay more than 4-5 coaches per day for stability and alignment.

one thing people fail to understand is that it's not every one that got contract is a guru or because someone is soliciting for contract doesn't make him a quack either ,what will be will be, either a nairalander gives u a contract or not doesn't stops u from being who u are, or who u wanna be,all i believe is time ,when ur time comes u don't even need an advertisement .life goes on
