Loving every minute of this journey.

I can't give you a figure for the fence now, because we haven't started work on it. The area of the land is 1815sqm, but i'll expect just fencing without the designs to cost roughly 1.2m. I hope this helps.

So that must be your neighbors fence. Do you plan to fence along the sides where your neighbors have already fenced?

1.2m for 3 plots sounds very good. That's about the same quote I've been receiving for a fence and gate for 2 plots.

Personally I don't know why anyone that has lived in a first world country would aspire to buy inside town proper.

Me and congested areas don't mix well. I need space and fresh air. I would have bought 3 plots, but I was already over our budget for 1 plot. I had to dip into our farm land budget.

I would describe this soil as prime with a huge missed opportunity. Missed opportunity in the sense that if Nigeria were a "normal" clime, all you need do is to visit your local equipment hire company and hire a portable mobile stone crushing machine at little cost and crush the rocks (granite) for later use on your build thereby saving hugely on granite/hardcore. But with Nigeria.................

Good point. At least I can reduce the amount of filling sand... I hope so.

We have just completed digging of the foundation and the septic. Here are a few pictures, but more pictures are coming. All the materials have been purchased and some are delivered to the site.

We've been warned not to deliver all the materials to the site as hooligans(aka Omo onile) have been stealing building materials lately. We have also been able to save some money from our approach towards how materials are been purchased and I'll shock so many people when I get to reveal how much would total a complete storey building foundation including DPC.

Nice fence. If you don't mind, can you share the total cost of fencing your 3 plots? What is the total perimeter length?

A soil test will be conducted in the coming weeks, but I wanted to get an opinion from some of the builders in the house. This land is in Ibadan.

The 3rd pic is of a boulder in the middle of the land. An excavator or dynamite will be used to remove it.

Here are samples we chose for the house.

Black/gold Itailian tiles for the living room and dinning area.

Brown for the master bedroom

Cream for the other 3 bedrooms

Kitchen will be black tiles and cream wall tiles.

Toilets and floor tiles will be milk colour on the floors and light brown for the walls.

I've seen a video of it being used in Ghana.

As I get more involved with my build I am seeing total wastefulness in how we build.

Do share. Maybe someone reaching the building stage soon can benefit.

That is a combination of in-situ cast foundation cast frame (columns and beam on sloppy terrain) and precast pre stressed rib beam with hollow block former.

It had many advantages like
1. Reduce concrete volume.
2. Faster and neater construction
3. Cheaper since less reinforcement is used and waste is reduce.
4. Better strength of slab since the prestress concrete are produced in the factory where better miss design and wet curing can be used

Can you explain the "pre-stress test" and also why wet curing can't be done on the current method of building a deck?

Pounding of yam will not be possible on this type of decking.

Then go for poundo yam.

Although I love pounded yam, using this flooring system would not be a problem for us because we don't make pounded yam. Its too much work for a few minutes of satisfaction.
