we are obviously not on the same page, no one is a battle of superiority with you, we're just superior, doesn't matter if you believe it. Its not up to you. So move on please, you don't know me and I don't feel the need to explain myself to you, I know myself, I know who I am, your validation is not needed.
Just an example of what we're trying to disprove in this thread, started by a Nigerian nairalander.

To the Kenyans on this thread coming in feeling like they are busting a myth. Let me type this it remains in your mind for life.

It is my right as a Nigerian to be exceptional. I am the best at whatever I lay my hands on, no one is better than me at anything, if it looks like something that belongs to me is broken ( a lot that belongs to me is broken ), it does not make me unexceptional, Kenya has 24 hours electricity, but Nigeria remains exceptional. My exceptionalism has absolutely nothing to do with your low self esteem, insecurities, false sense of accomplishments, jealousy and blind quest for relevance.
A wise man once told me to ignore everything that comes before and after an insult. The same applies to everything said before and after the word"but". You are on record on this thread having uttered fantastic and pithy insults at Kenya /Kenyans, so you automatically receive my swat away. You have also been called out for your lack of knowledge on the subject being discussed, hence your contribution on that particular sub topic is rendered useless. Sorry man, if you ever met me in real life am also a driven individual immensely proud of his personal, family and national achievements, we don't take isht lying down.
That being said, i hope you learn something about how to have a focussed discussion. Also, we have realised both kenyans and nigerians that alot of your folks like walking around the continent with a false sense of pride that is fragile, seeing as it is we're in the information age, and lies are easily detected. If you live in a glass house, throw glass stones. Kapish?

Okay. Don't get me started with the photo thing, its sufficient that readers should know the lower photo is someplace called shonga farm in kwara state. The upper one is definitely not 9ja.
That being said, i keep 25 of my own in the village as i pursue my business in the city. Am very well versed in this regard, and i wish you could take my advice on this : 9ja has a bit of a way to go. And i also noticed most groups in 9ja do not rear cattle, the belief being that its the preseve of Fulanis.The complete opposite prevails in Kenya, with virtually all ethnic groups rearing cattle. In the milk producing regions, the dairy industry contributes as much as 1/3 of rural employment (erm, citation needed ). Products are also more numerous and diversified, with all dairy products being local 100%

[/quhote]
Dear naijjan resident in Kenya, the dairy industry is a major part of the economy. At least 4% of the overall economy and the largest sub sector of agricultural GDP. Its a MAJOR employer in the country and the biggest in SSA(yes,bigger than what is produced in Mzansi aka SA). You should go through the posts of nairaland min of agric pavore and see his positive attitude towards this industry. Countries like New Zealand treasure theirs, as it is also a major employer there. Personally, i want to see us have a food value chain as impressive as that of Netherlands, and with the revival of Kenya dairy since the decay of the moi years, that is a distinct reality. cool

They are also into building of ships.
I knew it the moment i saw it that these were fake a$$ photos of nigerian shipbuilding yards.
1 st picture Philly shipyard, Philadelphia, USA.
2nd picture is from the website of LADOL which is a Nigerian logistics company. Its not even a shipyard, it a berth!!
3rd picture is from Samboo ATC which is a South Korean shipbuilder based in Jeonbuk, South Korea.
4 th picture is from the Ericson Manufacturing Company, a electrical safety products based in willoughby, Ohio. They have a ship maintenance function.

Please, naijjans, these brazen lies take us nowhere. Shipbuilding ala South Korea or Denmark is a very competitive industry which few nations have the gall to compete with these two industry leaders. Small boat manufacturing is rife all over though. But please, spare us fake a$$ photos. Damn.

Kenyan culture.

National drama festival.
All kenyan schools compete yearly in traditional dance, choral verse, singing and play acting in what is known as drama festival. It is so good that other African countries have been making requests to join. Nigeria has made such a request. I think there were a few participants from Nigeria this year.

Sights ...
Yours truly did this in primary school level many years ago. Did a choral verse and i encourage my kids to do likewise, but none seems inclined in that direction. You mean to say 9ja requested to participate?
I have been to several African countries and most don't have this phenomenon of schools drama festival. I have always wondered why. Btw, schools drama is a very lucrative commercial event for the host town, competition is fierce to have it staged in their towns. Same goes for schools sports festival.

Ps Nigerians (and also SAns), do your countries have national schools sports and / or drama festivals?

Hehehehe! Tbh Nigeria is ahead of Kenya in the transportation sector when we consider every sub sector Holistically. grin

I really enjoying this thread because I am getting more informations. grin
Sorry to break your comfy, self created bubble about the transportation sector. In all honesty, you can't be sitting at your computer googling kenyan bus companies and coming up with the few you gave. That's a very straw man argument. There are several that travel across borders. Yours truly was once a regular traveller by bus from Nairobi to Kigali, with a defunct service called Akamba bus, but there were several others like kigali line.

If you want to have a succinct discussion on transportation, and indeed any other sector, we have to lay down accepted and valid parametrics. Am sorry, but it seems that our thread might go on forever, in lieu of convincing arguments. What would we be comparing? Urban transport systems? Aviation? Connectivity? .....

Theoritically you have 4000mw. But in reality we count power consumption based on how many hours those power station generate power. A power station can be idle like in nigeria - although it has capacity to produce 1,000mw. It could be working for 3 or 4 hrs per day. It could even be off for months - coz of disrepair or lack of spares.

Nigeria generates & consume 3 gigawatts of hour of electricity per annum. Kenya generates & consume 10 gigawatts per hour. So Nigeria right now is using about 600mw of it's power on full capacity.

Get it or your education system is totally as dysfunctional as nigeria turbines - which aren't turning.

The solution is not to increase total capacity from 4000mw to 12,000mw like Nigeria is trying. It to make sure the 4,000mw are running first. You should be able to milk 20 gigawatts of hours (at kenya rate - although we still have about 10-15% systemic losses).

Fix that by first ensuring your power companies are not bankrupt, people pay their bills, no meter tampering and then those turbines can start turning at full capacity.

You cannot fix that by building 10,000 mega power plant that will soon not turn coz nobody paid their bill. Power stations have running costs.
It doesn't matter how much power that a power plant will generate, if it is loaded onto a dilapidated network that leaks electricity like a dead chicken, it all useless.
And i read somewhere about Nigerians and their bill evading character, its all a waste of time. If Nigerians want steady supply, i would ask them to explore off grid options for smaller settlements.

So you are boasting about talking a corrupted version of a foreign language. How Crude.
SMH. We speak standard English not corruptions. And unlike Nigeria we have a NATIONAL language called Kiswahili, the most spoken Sub-saharan language and the second most spoken language in Africa after Arabic.
Kenyans can go to Uganda,Tanzania,Rwanda,the DRC, Malawi and Northern Zambia, the Comoros and even parts of Oman in the Middle East and we will all understand each other. South Sudan and Somalia are joining the Swahili bandwagon due to the return of refugees who lived growing up speaking Swahili in Kenya.Burundi is also joining the bandwagon as it is part of the East African Community whose language is Swahili.
More than 200 million people speak Swahili , that is even larger than the population of Nigeria.
SMH.
Having an African language as national language, makes kenya quintessentially african.
Nigerians have their pidgin, which i confess i cannot make head or tail of. And its a corrupted version of a European tongue, needless to mention.
Kiswahili on the other hand means i can conduct a conversation with all Tanzanians, half of people from DR Congo, quantifiable number of ugandans and Rwandans, more than 50% of Burundians , all Comoros people, all zanzibaris, and the growing number of long term residence asians and Europeans living in kenya who go to language schools to learn it for their own ease of living in a foreign land.

Sorry to say Kigali is incomparable to Lagos. It is just the city centre which is not much larger than Balogun area that is so fine. I was able to walk round the entire area in two afternoons. The exteriors in Kigali though neat are very rustic and their international airport is not as fancy as any of our local airports. The people are also very racist and disrespectful. A perfume was stolen from my luggage while in their care. It's not a place I would ever willing visit again.
That is a rather harsh indictment if you ask me. I have been to Kigali on several occasions, and its my 2nd trip there in the last week of November 2013 that left the greatest impression on my mind. Arriving on a Friday bus from Nairobi, i checked into my hotel and settled in well. I was personally treated with alot of decorum and respect. I guess it was down to if you radiate a positive persona, it will be naturally reciprocated!! I think the airport is just about right for a country the size of Rwanda, and to their credit, they have a functional and well run national carrier, RwandAir.

The reason Rwanda is clean is many fold. For starters, they have banned the use of polyethylene bags, hence unsightly garbage heaps poisoned further with man made synthetics is a thing of the past. Secondly, and most importantly, it is the practice of community work whereby all able bodied citizens between the ages 18-65 are obliged to participate in cleaning up the area ,or participate in a community work in the rural parts. This practice is called "Umuganda" which is not compulsory for foreigners, but they are encouraged to do. I personally promptly went to work because the ethos of it sits very well with my own principles. I cut branches of a tree that were overhanging, all the time side by side with a university professor!! Everyone is there, men and women, educated and uneducated, soldiers and civilian. Even the president participates. Afterwards, I was invited to the house of a local engineer for a taste of traditional Rwandan cuisine, which i enjoyed very much as it is virtually identical to my own back home in Kenya.
I found this link to explain Umuganda further.

A NIGERIANS OPINION OF STAYING IN KENYA

https://www.megainsights.com/a-short-comparison-between-nigerians-and-kenyans/

A Short Comparison between Nigerians and Kenyans

Written by Niyi Onifade
Published: 26 May 2012

In my last post, I told you about what I was doing in Mombasa. We’re now back in Nairobi, having successfully ended our Corporate Governance training course in that coastal city yesterday afternoon.
Everyone in the country is now worried about the spate of cyber crimes in Kenya. That’s an arm of the notorious 419 that has become a common phenomenon in Nigeria. But listen to the kind of money they talk about around here to be shocked! They talk about some few thousands or millions of shillings stolen by some bad guys. They seem not to know that our own people have since graduated into stealing billions and trillions of naira.

Oh yes, bad things are happening in Kenya. They have their “Al Shabaab” wahala just the way we also have our Boko Haram stigma in Nigeria. The only difference is that the “Al Shabaab” guys throw grenades at people and run away, while our “Boko Haram” plant heavy bombs and die along with their victims. Can you spot the difference? Yet, the government of Kenya is not leaving any stone unturned to fish out the grenade-happy boys of the country.

In spite of the bad things that are happening in this beautiful East African nation, I am thrilled that the citizens are so proud of their country. In fact, they are celebrating a number of things. For instance, we were told that:

-The Kenya Police authority can now be contacted via Twitter and they will respond swiftly;
-Kenyans now obtain their passports electronically within a period of seven days;
-A number of government offices now open from 7am to 7pm;
-Farmers now obtain information about crops and soil condition in their areas electronically;
And many more…

Almost every Kenyan also has confidence in the country’s legal system. You only need to listen to them discussing labour law, tenancy law and others. They believe that any issue can be satisfactorily resolved at any court of law in their country.

The point is that corrupt practices are actually being reported the more…which is a good thing for THE country.” Just look at that: Sounds like wonderful patriotism.
There are also temperamental and cultural differences between the two. For instance, to most Kenyans, Nigerians appear to be incurable braggarts and showoffs. Pretty much the same way Ethiopians view us kenyans. Our culinary habits are different. Our sensibilities are different.

Also, there are a good number of places in Nairobi where you can find a group of Nigerians renting an entire block of flats(and only emerging at night! ), whereas i am cocksure i would never find the same anywhere in Nigeria with regards to Kenyans. Shows you which place is the better to live in.

I know Ali Kiba, you know Ali Kiba, the SA guys on this thread know Ali Kiba.Who is this rest of Africa you talk of?
As a twenty something who was just getting into family life, i listened to alot of Tanzanian musicians and their music is popularly referred to as bongo flava. Ali Kiba is a must for Bongo flava lovers. They sing in Swahili which can make a singer a sensation in both kenya and Tanzania very easily. This is the Swahili speaking zone of Africa, so many have heard of Ali Kiba. And i still love and listen to Bongo flava artists. Now my pre teen daughter can sing most of these bongo flava songs by Ali Kiba and more. Its her environment.
Which brings me to the idea of the Mama awards. I have seen they have created alot of categories and sub categories to cater for all of Africa, but it will never work trying to create an image or notion of Africa as a monolithic zone. Do you think music lovers in India, Japan, Qatar, Thailand and Bhutan,for instance, would accept to be compared for a continental award due to their being on the Asian continent? Why should the same apply to Africa? Countries are better off creating their own music awards. It beats me why some people rub it on others that their country won more awards by this artificial agency ---- it's just another example of a western agency (in this case MTV) woefully failing to understand the nuances of Africa.

Heck, even the rhythms vary across the continent. Someone asking me whether they have heard of Ali Kiba? I will retort, have they heard of : Abatte Barihun, Abdu Kiar, Ashenafi Kebede, Abel Tesfaye, Alemayehu Eshete, Alemu Aga, Ali Birra, Asnaketch Worku.......

You said maths...Kenya has approximately 200000m² while Nigeria is appro 300000m².....divide 180million by 300000 which equals to 600 which means 600nigerians live per square meter while Kenya 40million divided by 200000 is 200 which means 200kenyas live per square metre meaning 3:1 i.e 3nigerians fills a place just 1 Kenyatta fills....do you know get the maths and take notice,i approximated it all....
Kenya has 200,000 sq. m oh dear oh dear oh dear!!!!!! you are monumentally stupid or just plain lazy to research. You dont even know the appropriate size of Nigeria. Please head over to jokes /romance section. Your seniors are trying to outdo each other here. Ps: don't come back.
