If this's the case, Discos should release details of meters compatible with their billing system and consumers can ask vendors to supply.

For instance, Community Development Associations can request vendors to supply their areas, while the DISCOS install.

NERC should facilitate this, as it's the first step to achieving stable power supply.

My dear, NERC will never facilitate such a thing. They dance to the music of Discos because of what they are getting!

Even if the Minister appears to be on the side of the people, NERC certainly isn't. Otherwise, the Agency should have made sure that people can get an approved and certified electric meters from sources other than the Discos. The Discos are unwilling and will do anything not to meter their consumers because they benefit more from estimated billings.

Part of what the restructuring of Nigeria will achieve is that States or Regions or Zones will be able to generate and deploy energy as they desire. What has IPOD got to do with obvious facts. You are only lucky to have stable light. In most parts of Lagos, the supply of electricity is appalling. A good example is Ajao Estate along Airport Road. The residents there are always in darkness because they asked for prepaid meters. The Disco workers in that Estate are the most corrupt people in that industry!

Whether you like it or not Fashola and his cronies in the the DISCOS are more interested in selling darkness than light to Nigerians because selling darkness is a lot more profitable ..At a time when GENCOS are complaining that DISCOS are rejecting 75 percent of the electricity being wheelled to them because the know the don't want to sell electrify but darkness under the guise of estimated bills ..A reasonable minister would have first made sure the DISCOS provide 80 percent of their customers with prepaid meters before and new thieving tariff can even take place but Fashola won't because he and his friends in discos want to keep selling darkness which is too profitable when compared to selling electricity

You have just narrated the bitter Truth. If 80 to 90% of Nigerians are metered, the Disco will be forced to sell light and that is what they don't want to do. If they can sell darkness and get away with it, why would they want to provide light. It is up to Nigerians themselves to resist the rip off by not paying estimated bills. It is as simple as that!

God will abundantly bless you for this wonderful observation. I have always known this but a lot of Nairalanders think the Northerners don't contribute to topics and debates on this Forum. They disguise with southern monikers.

They are experts in knocking the heads of Southerners together. The idea is to make sure the South of Nigeria continues to hate, insult, suspect, disrespect, annoy one another and never unite.
