MadamVanessa:

Buhari played and dribble his houseboy after giving the mere commissioner so much hope. Even Amaechi beat a whole vice president. So shameful. We were under the impression that Osinbajo had the full backing of the president and the presidency. What eventually played out was not so. Having stayed with the president and the cabals for so long, one would have expected the VP to have known if they (Buhari and Cabals) were sincere with him or were just playing political games. Osinbajo obviously misread their motives. Very unfortunately, just like Awolowo, Nigeria missed another opportunity to have a good and worthy President! |

I still don't understand why that very dangerous Mushin-Isolo road up Ikotun is not part of the Ban. That axis is the most dangerous area for pedestrians. The Jakande gate part of the stretch of road is always a WAR zone! The next phase of the ban should include Mushin and Oshodi-Isolo Local Governments. Pedestrians have a right to walk on the roads! |

eriax12: Nice Let's face it. These are elderly gentlemen and leaders. No one should expect them to become enemies just because of primary elections. Nigeria as a country is bigger than anyone. As a matter of fact, Tinubu might still need Osinbajo's help in judicial or other matters in the future. They will certainly be friends again. No shaking! |

Badgers14: But let's ask ourselves one question.
What have Osibanjo done in the last 7 years that would make someone vote for him to be the president the next 4 years?
The economy have gotten worse from where the country was in 2015 and Osibanjo wants another 4 years in office?
Note: I am not a Tinubu fan either. Does the VP in Nigeria or any country in the world has the Power to do any significant thing? |

I am for PYO but for the sake of Yoruba unity, maybe PYO should consider stepping down for BAT. I know that would be difficult as PYO would not want to offend Buhari. Hmmm, the situation is so Precarious! |

RHMSTECH: I am out here feeling a lot of pity for Nigerians. If you follow politics very well and you extend your interest to foreign politics, you’ll realize, it’s a basic constitutional right to contest for an election, it’s so basic and I just can’t understand why any president would suggest a consensus candidate or how a presidential screening chairman could utter this statement “only youthful aspirants were cleared”… Are you for real The right to contest for an election is now something we play politics with What kind of leadership are these people teaching the youths If you don’t want Tinubu, Pick a candidate of your choice, campaign vigorously for him by convincing the party delegates he’s the man for the job. Obama did the same for Hilary and joe Biden, and they won primaries. Tinubu is a party loyalist, if he loses in a free and fair election, believe me, he’ll put the party first ahead of his own political ambition. That man used AD to fight a federal government (obasanjo regime), he used ACN to take the whole of southwest from PDP, and APC to take federal control. They told him not to create any LCDA, he refused, and insisted that was the best way to get government closer to the people. Same concept are now being practiced in most states. Southwest is the most developed part of Nigeria, and you simply can’t take away the fact that their leaders are way better than what’s obtainable in other region even though they are all corrupt but an average Nigerian is corrupt anyways. If Tinubu says he wants to be president, he has every right to contest in a free and fair election and he’s a better candidate than most of the ones available simply because of his man management skills and that’s something that’s extremely important in managing a country as big as Nigeria. His appointees are going to steal but there’s something different about them. You can’t compare wike to Fashola, you can’t compare osibanjo to the immediate formal Vice President, I can’t even remember his name. In as much as i don’t mind a tinubu administration, if Buhari candidate is osibanjo, it makes a lot of sense for tinubu to support him, presidency coming to the south is bigger than city boy’s ambition. A king maker makes a lot enemies when making kings, that’s just a price Tinubu has to pay for his political influence over the years. Buhari is fighting for his legacy, having Osinbajo as president is going hide the regular revelations that follows every change in power. Osinbajo can’t say bad about the administration he was part of and buhari too is counting on him to finish some of the projects he has started. Most importantly, he’s not a politician, it’s easier for Buhari to protect his political structure under Osinbajo. Tinubu as president has the potential to render most influential people useless, he’ll spread his political influnece easily to the north and that’s something the northern elders won’t allow. With osibanjo, the north can easily maintain their influence but here is the question “Can APC defeat ATIKU without the full support of Tinubu It’ll take a miracle for that happen. You are forgetting the power of incubency aka Rigging. Is INEC really independent? Just a question! |

fergie001: Yes, the President is modifying Lagos-style.
Listen, let me tell you:
When the President returns, he will ask to see all the aspirants and explain his position, all the Govs will step down. He will ask to see Tinubu privately, he will make him see his position and why he has made his decision. He will ask for a Compromise or terms to assuage him (that does not involve handing over the Presidency to him), maybe he choosing a VP or other concessions. He is doing this not because he is afraid to do it his way but he respects Bola.
If he moves against the President, asides Lawan getting a vantage position, it will be seen as rebellion and there will be consequences. However, I believe Bola will take the first one and everybody will rest then head to the general election.
Buhari is more @ home with a Southern Christian for balancing, he knows he has not done so well so he intends to get this one right and leave on a high.
This is my very personal opinion. Your opinion sounds reasonable in this peculiar circumstance! |
Politics › Re: Osinbajo Is Buhari's Preferred Candidate Ahead Of APC Primary - Independent by murmee: 8:34pm On Jun 01, 2022 |
dochenaj: Your last line was one of my thoughts.
I figured, there could only be 3 reasons why Osibanjo is contesting.
1. Tinubu asked him to contest so he can step down for Tinubu at the last minute thus increasing the relevance of Tinubu. (Do you know the reputation you build from having a VP step down for you?)
2. Buhari asked him to contest because he plans to hand over to him.
3. He has grown some balls and wants to challenge Tinubu's hold and power.
I feel number 1 is the most probable reason followed by number 2.
But in a few days time, we will know. Every sensible person, home and abroad knows that the answer is No. 2. |

Kalu, FFK and others maintained that south east should have their overdue turn but Tinubu’s ambition, including Osinbajo who is vice president for eight years now refused to support the south east.

Your SE hates Tinubu because he helped Buhari to vote out Jonathan who was the benefactor of some of your greedy politicians under him at the time. Great post. You stated the facts exactly as they are. The Ibos hate Tinubu because Tinubu helped Buhari to chase out Jonathan. Jonathan was seen as an Ibo president and the Southeasterners took tremendous advantage at that time to change things to favour themselves! |

I think the Southwest and Southeast should seriously start thinking of how to pull out of this forced marriage called Nigeria if the North would not yield power to the South. Typicool8: Too many senseless people on Nairaland. Anyway from my point of view I think the boy died from something else not flogging because the whole class was flogged and so why is his own case different. Meanwhile the hospital should conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death You are right. Something the boy ate or drink the night before or in the morning before going to school or something he bought and ate or drink on his way to school reacted in his stomach and killed him. No teacher will flog a child to kill him. As you already pointed out, the whole class was flogged for not doing their homework. The action is to instill discipline and nothing more. Proper autopsy should be done to know the cause of death! |
