SaharaReporters learnt that the Minister for Petroleum Affairs, Diezani Allison-Madueke is bankrolling the documentary while the scripts and voice overs are being prepared and cut with the help of the Nigeria Television Authority and some Nollywood production companies and working for President Jonathan's re-election. As a result of the massive deal, AIT, which was in poor financial shape that its principal owner, Raymond Dokpesi, had decided to sell it to the banks to which the station owed several billions of Naira, is now back in good standing. It has also become considerably bolder because of the backing of Mrs. Allison-Madueke and other powerful government officials behind the deal. Our investigation reveals that AIT receives N5 million each time an episode of any of the documentaries is aired on their channels in different Nigerian markets. Apart from the cost of producing and airing the documentaries, SaharaReporters found that a team of high-priced lawyers has also been mobilized with about N3 billion to handle any legal threats that may arise from the documentaries. Just last week, APC chieftain Bola Tinubu sued AIT over the documentary on him. SaharaReporters learned that the next in the series will focus on the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Our source, who didn't want to reveal the content, said the objective of that show will be to “destroy” Prof. Osinbajo's position as a strong moral leader in the Christian community. "The idea is to make the Christians who have left Jonathan because of Osinbajo's entry into the Presidential race to have a rethink," our source stated. “The PDP is still failing the basic mathematics,” a political analyst told SaharaReporters. “They can squander all of the money in the Central Bank trying to damage the reputation of everyone in the opposition, but how does that provide a cover for the ineptitude and corruption of the Goodluck Jonathan government? Does that explain why Nigeria is far worse than they found it? That is the question Nigerians will be answering when they go to the polls in three weeks.” saharareporters.com/2015/03/09/ait-received-n10-billion-damaging-documentaries-opposition-leaders-yemi-osinbajo-its-next |

Three bomb attacks hit Nigeria’s northeastern city of Maiduguri in Borno State, leaving at least 33 people dead. In the first attack, which took place at around 11:20 a.m. (1020 GMT) at the Baga fish market, 18 people were killed when an assailant blew up her explosives. Another 15 also lost their lives about an hour later in a second blast at the Monday Market. “I saw many dead bodies lying on the ground, many dead, and several others badly injured,” said fish seller, Idi Idrisa. Borno State Justice Commissioner Kaka Shehu also confirmed those two bombings and said a third attack struck the busy Borno Express bus station just after 1:00 p.m. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the deadly explosion but it bears the hallmarks of the attacks by Boko Haram Takfiri militant group. The terrorists have recently increased their bombings and village attacks as Nigerian and Chadian forces have pushed them out of a score of towns along Nigeria's border with Cameroon. Villages in Cameroon and Niger have also witnessed attacks by the extremist group since the nations as Nigeria's neighbors have decided to create a multinational force to contain Boko Haram militancy. Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is forbidden,” controls parts of northeastern Nigeria and says its goal is to overthrow the Nigerian government. It has claimed responsibility for a number of deadly shooting attacks and bombings in various parts of Nigeria since the beginning of its militancy in 2009, which have left over 13,000 people dead and 1.5 million displaced. Boko Haram has also conducted terrorist attacks in Nigeria’s neighboring countries of Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. presstv.ir/Detail/2015/03/07/400690/10-killed-in-Nigeria-bomb-attack

Crisis erupted at the office of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Lokoja, Kogi State yester-day, when candidates for the university mat-riculation examination engaged staff of the board in a brawl over purported plan to charge fees other than the approved amount. Daily Trust gathered that trouble started when the candidates were asked to pay N100 each to check for their examination centres. It was gathered that the candidates who besieged the board’s office in their hundreds engaged officials in a free for all fight. Our correspondent reports that the candidates also brought down the gate to the office. One of the candidates, who craved anonymity, told Daily Trust that after purchasing the JAMB form from the board, they were asked them to register at their office with an additional N700. He said normally, the registration is done online, ‘‘but because they wanted to extort N700 from each of us, they asked us to come to their office and we did. Now, we want to check for our centers and get print-outs for the Saturday computer based test and they are asking us to pay N100 each, after collecting N700 from us”. State Coordinator of JAMB, Mr. Daniel Agbo, sort the assistance of members of the Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who are located close to the office to disperse the candidates. When journalists visited the office, a staff of the board who refused to disclose her name said the state coordinator was not around. She also refused to comment on the issue, saying the coordinator is the one to speak on it. dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/48638-jamb-officials-candidates-clash-over-n100-fees |
