@mikeansy,

They have always said Atiku is not a thief that OBJ/Ribadu were just witch hunting him due to third term. I wonder what'll be their next excuse now.

@GettysBurg,

I agree with you. I don't think OBJ would use Atiku's wife as a conduit to receive a bribe from anyone. I just don't buy it at all
i would believe that he used her much more than a conduit,remember Mojisola. grin

Don’t praise PHCN, says Obasanjo
From MOSHOOD ADEBAYO, Abeokuta
Friday, December 26, 2008

It was a paradox of sorts at the six-lesson Christmas Carol service by the family of former president Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Tuesday as he rapped the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) for not supplying electricity throughout the ceremony.

At the event which took place at his palatial hilltop home in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Obasanjo said the PHCN did not deserve praises as electricity was provided by a generating set. Obasanjo had ironically committed billions of naira to ensure stable electricity supply for the nation in his eight-year rule as president.

Daughter of the former president, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, who was giving the vote of thanks, was about to give kudos to the PHCH for the uninterrupted power on the occasion when she was reminded by her father that it was a generating set that had been in use.
“Don’t praise PHCN, I have been using generator. Don’t praise them,” the former President said.

Cut short, the ex-president’s daughter said rather apologetically: “I don’t know we have been on generator. Anyway, I reserve my comment. We would continue to work on PHCN.”
Earlier, Rev. Abraham Adewole, Vicar in charge of the Owu Baptist Church, urged Nigerians to live together peacefully. “We must continue to live peacefully as a people because God who created us as a people has a reason for doing so.”

Rev. Lai Olaleye who prayed for the nation urged the leaders to imbibe the spirit of love and friendship.
His words: “We must love one another as a people and as a nation. We must tolerate one another, sink our religious differences and live as one family. We must continue to follow the good path of our Lord, Jesus Christ who died for our sins.”

The carol service was attended by Obasanjo’s family members, friends, business associates and top government functionaries.
Among the dignitaries were the Olowu of Owu-Abeokuta, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, the Osile of Oke-Ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, Tiwalade of Akinale, Oba Femi Ogunleye, as well as the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olugbemi Adekoya and the former Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero.

Various Lessons from the Bible were read by Oba Tejuosho, Oba Dosunmu, Oba Ogunleye and the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade.
Former Sokoto State Governor and Democratic Peoples ‘ Party ( DPP) presidential candidate in the 2007 general elections, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa has urged Nigerians to shun money politics.
Alhaji Bafarawa told newsmen yesterday that the only way democracy could be entrenched permanently in Nigeria was for the electorate not to sell their mandate and conscience by collecting money before casting their votes.

His words: "it is only then that we can beat our chests and say that we have true democracy."
According to him, "it is regrettable that some Nigerians do not cast their votes or support any candidates if he is not having money. Some of them will even ask ‘is he having money?’
He said such people are not after the execution of any developmental projects, while advising that "only leaders who are patriotic and God-fearing should be trusted with any mandate by the electorate."

Bafarawa further said, "We should always vote for leaders who have our development at heart . We should disregard any ethnic or religious affiliations while choosing a leader."
The DPP former presidential candidate who described himself as a "democrat’’ also said that people should be in politics for development. He said his party, DPP, is "intact" and that his case on the 2007 general polls is still with God.

"I decided not to go to court since I have left everything to God. I was not saying the elections in 2007 were free and fair but my case is still with God,’’ he explained.
Bafarawa also said that he was personally unhappy with the recent sacking of erstwhile EFCC boss , Nuhu Ribadu by the police authorities.
"His case should be left to Nigerians to judge. His case is still pending in the court ,’’ the former Sokoto governor said.
