abeg shed no tears for Ribadu. when he was hunting down all obasanjo's Political enemies in the name of fighting corruption, did he not know that this day will come, does anyone remember the infamous list of people not eligible to vie for political office?

I for one will not lose sleep over this dismissal. it's good riddance to bad rubbish. turn the page of your newspaper, better stories on the next pages.
yeah ppl are so forgetful,
they have forgotten that in just 2007,
Ribadu decided who stands for election(selection) and who doesn't,
Intimidating candidates to step down for others, ask odili and the rest. . .

Nigeria’s official website shutdown
By Everest Amaefule, Abuja
Published: Thursday, 25 Dec 2008
The Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, has lamented the shutting down of the nation’s official website – www.nigeria.gov.ng – as a result of the inability of government officials to maintain the national flagship.

Akunyili, who spoke at the first meeting she had with heads of parastatals under the ministry in Abuja late on Tuesday, also gave all agencies in the ministry a deadline of March 2009 to establish their own websites.

She also barred officials of the ministry and the parastatals from receiving free telephone lines and cable televisions, directing those that already had such gifts to return them before the end of January 2009.

Noting that the incidence of poor telecommunications services has continued, the minister directed the Nigerian Communications Commission to monitor and report quality of service parameters on regular weekly basis.

She said, “Today, we live in an information age where access to information should be made readily available, and yet information about Nigeria from Nigeria is not easily accessible. I find it disheartening that the Ministry of Information and Communications does not have a website.

“It is also very discomforting that our flagship corporation, Nigerian Television Authority, does not have a website. It is unfortunate that the official government website www.nigeria.gov.ng, which was launched in 2005, and hit 1.3 million in its first year, making it one of the most viable national websites in the world, has been shut down for many months. This website, which serves as a gateway to Nigeria, must be reactivated.

“Every parastatal must have an active and vibrant website up and running before the end of March 2009, and I am ready to support you to make sure that this happens. On our part, before the end of March 2009, this ministry will create a vibrant website that will enable people around the world to find everything they need to know about Nigeria in a click. This will be an interactive website that will allow people to ask questions and get answers. It will also provide polling opportunities as an avenue to know the feelings and desires of our people on various issues.”

On telecommunications, Akunyili said it was general knowledge that services rendered by telecom operators were poor, adding that most Nigerians were unhappy and expressing displeasure over the services of mobile telecom operators.

The minister said the incidences of dropped calls, poor voice signal quality and poor reception have caused unnecessary financial burdens for Nigerians as they carry multiple handsets to be able to connect to working networks.

PoliticsWe Are Working On Phcn - Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-bello by Muza(op): 4:07am On Dec 25, 2008
We are working on PHCN -Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello
Written by Kehinde Akinyemi, Abeokuta
THURSDAY, 25 DECEMBER 2008
Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, at a carol service for the Obasanjo family Tuesday night in Abeokuta, assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is working on the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to guarantee steady electricity supply.

The senator representing Ogun Central District was almost praising the PHCN for sustaining the three hour carol programme, before the audience, including her father, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, cut her short that it was a generator that was at work. https://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-happy-smileys-819.gif

She pleaded with guests to exercise patience with the government, assuring that “we are working on it”.

The carol service was organized by the Obasanjo family in the memory of the birth of Jesus Christ, and was used to pray for the household of the former president.

The Vicar in Charge of the Owu Baptist Church, Rev Abraham Adewole, led other clergymen to offer prayers for the Obasanjo family, the peace and prosperity of the nation.

Obasanjo and his Owu kinsmen were joined by invited guests from within Ogun State and across the country, as a special choir from Owu Baptist Church, treated guests to beautiful Christmas carol songs.

Prominent traditional rulers in Ogun, led by the Osile Oke-ona, Oba Dapo Tejuosho and the Olowu, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, were joined by former Inspector-General of Police, Sunday Ehindero, former Lagos State deputy governor, Rotimi Jafojo, heads of military and paramilitary bodies in the state and other long time associates of the former president.

Mr. Gbemi Olukoya, the Secretary to the Ogun State government, who represented Gov Gbenga Daniel, led other cabinet members to the event, while the Ogun State House of Assembly was also represented by some lawmakers.

From the rendition of the popular beautiful carol song, Silent Night, to the Yoruba Keresimesi song, with other English Traditional Melody, almost everybody at the programme was inspired by the various musics to mark the birth of Jesus.

Much of this was attested to by Senator Obasanjo-Bello, who gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the family, lauding the performance of the choir.

Representative of Gov Gbenga Daniel read the first lesson of the service from the Holy Bible, Isaiah 11:1-9, while Oba Tejuosho read the second lessons from the same book of Isaiah 11:1-9.
