Katsumoto: Of course it is foolish when it is obviously above your head. If you disagree, I dare you to explain the analogy and why it isn't apt.
Go and sit down over sabi. It's most tragic for you to believe you're smarter than all, especially when your folly is so glaring
Dare all you like,@Akpomeme is not obligated to explain anything to you
You're just like that fellow that does not know and does not know that he does not know, yet refused to understand his emptiness.

How can I be a Nigeria,is there such a thing or item as a Nigeria??

Secondly, unlike Wole Soyinka I don't hypocritically make ill-thought out statements calculated to spite certain persons and to please those that have dark affiliations or to please those who have feathered my nest or those of my offspring in one way or the other.

Sincere 9gerian: Suddenly the governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, is now playing a victim while emergency activists and some rascals are shifting the blame to the president.

Prof Wole Soyinka and Femi Falana have already kicked off 'Save Amaechi' and 'shift the blame to the president' campaigns. The House of representatives has also stepped in, taking sides with their friend Amaechi, called for the removal of the state commissioner of police and tried to take over the lawmaking function of Rivers State House of Assembly.

But where were these activists and other rascals when Amaechi was gathering ant-infested firewood? Were they deaf, blind and DUMB when Amaechi was doing all of the following:

9 Through the rubber stamp state house of assembly, Amaechi seized the allowances of the 5 anti-Amaechi Rivers State lawmakers

And so and and so forth.

Where were these emergency activists and PAY-AS-YOU-GO pro-democracy activists when Amaechi was gathering this magnitude of ant-infested firewood? Why the alarm and why accuse the president of inaction now that lizards are beginning to gather around Amaechi?
You're so on point

Politics › Buhari’s Pathetic Utterances by Myself2(op): 11:10am On Jul 17, 2013
Buhari’s pathetic utterances

I AM writing this piece in a sad mood. Why wouldn’t I. Muhammadu Buhari, retired army General was one of my authentic Nigerian heroes, a man of untrammeled integrity and granite cast will.

In the 2011 presidential election, I voted for him without any qualms. I have argued strongly against the notion that he is an ethnic jingoist or a religious bigot.

I had followed his carreer in the military; from being a military governor to Petroleum Minister and then head of state. I could only speak about him with utmost veneration.

When some weeks ago, the revered Sultan of Sokoto called for amnesty for Boko Haram, I was staggered by the shift in his posture towards these merchants of terror he had consistently condemned without any equivocation.

But his royal majesty’s amnesty trumpet was soon chorused by the Northern States Governors’ Forum, NSGF, and almost with the speed of a tornado, the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, followed, urging President Jonathan to grant amnesty to a band of misguided, blood- thirsty terrorists.

I was disgusted by the impish and warped theory of amnesty being propounded by these men. I was so sure that ‘noble’ men like Buhari would not lend their voices to the evil cacophony of the NSGF and the NEF.

I argued that if Buhari had been silent, it was simply because he didn’t want to speak against Boko Haram for political reason. “But he will never, ever endorse Boko Haram’s murderous activities; never,” I had argued.

But on Sunday, June 2, 2013, Buhari broke what I found now to be his ominous silence. Speaking on Liberty Radio in Kaduna, the reticent retired General criticized the declaration of state of emergency in three Northern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, describing the action as a grave injustice against the North.

Buhari holds the strange notion that while Niger Delta militants were given special treatments, the Boko Haram terrorists were being killed and their house demolished.

Hear this soldier: “You see, in the case of Niger Delta militants, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua sent an airplane to bring them, he sat down with them and discussed with them, they were cajoled and they were given money and amnesty”. But he was not done yet.

“They were trained in some skills and were given employment, but the ones in the North are being killed and their houses demolished.”

Again, I stress that I am at pains that a man I admire and practically adore could allow his emotion to so blur his reasoning that he could sound so parochial and pathetic. First I want to ask Buhari, what is the cause of Boko Haram.

What are they fighting for? In the case of the Niger Delta militants, we know about the degradation of their environment by Nigeria and foreign oil companies prospecting and exploiting the oil buried in their land by God.

Their land, water and even air are so polluted that survival is put in peril. For all these threats to their lives, successive governments in Nigeria had paid but scant attention to a people who tragically found themselves mired in poverty by the very natural gift that should elevate them to an earthly paradise.

So, when the young militants found themselves with arms, they decided to redress the gross injustice and oppression that had pervaded for decades. And while many of us would not agree with their violent approach, we would not deny that they has a cause.

What is the cause of Boko Haram? They don’t want Western education. Simply idiotic. The arms they use is a product of Western education, so is electricity and the clothes they wear. They said they want Islam as only religion in Nigeria. So, some of us that are non-Muslims should jump into the river. Very foolish. These are rascals with out a cause except mypotic, wild and horrid religious fanaticism.

Buhari said Yar’Adua sent an airplane to pick the militants and they brought them to Abuja. Correct. But did the airplane land in the creeks, the abode of the militants and picked them?

The fact is, Yar’Adua called the Niger Delta leaders and appealed to them to persuade their ‘boys’ to drop their arms and come for talk, for negotiation on the way forward for their exploited and devastated homeland. And the elders returned and met their wards in the creeks and convinced them to meet with Yar’Adua.

The militants in deference to their elders sat with Yar’Adua and negotiated the Niger Delta question. They did not negotiate out of fear; but they didn’t fear to negotiate.

I ask Buhari, where are these terror elements called Boko Haram? They remain ghosts, apologies to President Jonathan.

The Niger Delta elders and leaders went to the creeks to fetch their boys. Buhari is both a leader and an elder. I ask him, where are those sons of terror? Why can’t he and the likes of Professor Ango Abdullahi (of Ali-Must-Go shame) fetch their boys so that Jonathan can also send an airplane to fly them to Abuja.

The Northern leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, clamoured for amnesty for the murderous gang. Jonathan accepted and set up an amnesty committee.

The foolish boys in reaction said it was Nigeria and Jonathan that needed amnesty. As if this reaction is a huge shame to the Northern elders and to the Nigerian governments because they are forcing amnesty on killers, gangsters and animals that have no iota of remorse.

As if all that was not enough, they increased their barbaric unslaught not only on innocent Nigerians but the police and the military, killing and maiming in horrifying proportions. And you said Jonathan should not declare state of emergency?

Mr. ZIK OKAFOR, an artiste, wrote from Lagos.

Politics › Re: Soyinka Is An Embarrassment To His Admirers – Patience Jonathan by Myself2(m):
First of,
@ OP is very dubious with the thread title as no where in the report was Soyinka as a person referred to as an embarrassment, but his one-sided biased assessment of the Saga
Secondly Wole Soyinka over-stepped his bounds by calling PEJ unlady-like over the Rivers assembly brouhaha, when she was neither there on that day nor indeed a member of the house.
IMO the response by PEJ's aide is too subtle,to me,an old man that refuses to behave and talk wisely must be told in stronger terms that he is out of line.
If he thinks he has the right to air his view, let him at least be objective and fair, not abusive,in the same vein PEJ is entitled to defend herself and set the records straight.
Infact I applaud her for issuing a response to Soyinka that is copiously civil.

Soyinka should learn that nobody has the monopoly of a caustic tongue, this was how he tried to mess with that Warri boy Festus Keyamo, true to type,Keyamo would not have any of Soyinka's nonsense and promptly advised him to concentrate on writing twinkle twinkle little star poems rather than dabble into terrains he is ignorant about,I think he has forgotten that advice, someone needs to remind him ASAP

There are millions of football fans that can analyse better than him if given the opportunity, but that does not make them national team coaches, how can you talk the talk if you have not walked the walk.

Politics › I Know Tinubu, I Know Buhari, They Cannot Mix – Bode George by Myself2(op): 5:39am On Jul 09, 2013
I know Tinubu, I know Buhari, they cannot mix – Bode George -

Chief Olabode George, former military governor of Ondo State and former Deputy National Chairman, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in this interview, responds to topical issues in the polity and his party. Excerpts:

President Goodluck Jonathan, the leader of your party is in the eye of the storm over 2015. How do you feel?

Nigeria has come this far because the concept of the PDP constitution has sustained democracy up till now. Never in the history of our nation have we been able to sustain democracy from 1999 and we are now in 2013: that is talking about 14 years. Never!

So, there is no need to pull anybody down because the man you pull down will also pull you down and so, where have you gone? And it is there in Romans Chapter 14 that whosoever that God has given an authority, he did not get there by his own effort. Let us support him. He is our leader and it is our nation.

Some of these people who have been given opportunities to govern smaller states are now coming to say that they know more than we know they know. When they were in government, they saw governance as a source of unimaginable income. The amount of acquisitions; the maddening amount of acquisition of the prime property, the assets of the state they were given, is mind boggling.

Conversion of land for personal use
Every day people wake up, what you see is unbelievable. Ikoyi has now become another high rise prime area. Who owns these properties? All the land in Ajah, lands dedicated for hospitals have been converted to their personal use. Hotels have been springing up, Local Government secretariats that had been in existence before they were born have been acquired.

*Bode George
*Bode George

Hostel of the only Nursing School in Lagos State, located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, has already been acquired. And these are the same people who are asking Nigerians that, “Yes, we can perform! We would govern Nigeria well.”

Is there a semblance of democratic practice in that party of theirs? So, I chuckle when I see these first class jokers, who have been tested and have been found to be complete failure, saying that they want to go and rule Nigeria.

They want to join up with General Buhari. But the General Buhari that I know; his standing, his personality, his commitment, his belief is exact opposite to these characters here. So, sometimes I get confused that General Buhari is sincerely talking to these men. It is like a movie to me. It is like a theatre house. How can water and oil mix? What he has stood for in his life and what they stand for; they cannot meet. They are like day and night.

And they have the temerity to say that they are the leader of Yoruba, they are carrying Yoruba people. I wish tehy would go back and read the history of the Yoruba people. Because, they are fake. No semblance of the real, true genuine Yoruba.

They do not have anything that look like the depth, the norm, the belief of the Yoruba people. What a huge joke therefore! I wish one day that somebody would bring him on the television for public debate. I am challenging him to come on the television for a public debate; let us talk to Nigerians. Let us debate before the people what they have done for this country.

You sound angry. Why?
You know people would say yes, Bode George is angry. No! Very soon I will be 70 years old. What else am I looking for? Am I going to start all over again? Can I live another 70 years before I pack up and go back to my God? No. Mine may be the only voice in the wilderness but I will continue to shout at the top of the mountain that this is a path of perfidy they are going through.

Chief Olabode George
Chief Olabode George

Righteous way
It is not a righteous way. Now they are shouting that Jonathan has not performed and that they would push him out of government. Tinubu that was governor of Lagos State for eight years, what did he do?

Even the young man that is still running Lagos now, Babatunde Raji Fashola has done much better than him. Does he allow him to work? They say he is de facto leader, that is what he calls his name. All the things about these jokers in ACN are laughable.

The other one in Osun, who no longer calls himself an engineer but ‘Ogbeni’, what is his performance there? Lai Mohammed is always talking on top of his voice, talking garbage! I knew him when he came to Lagos as a Level 6 or Level 8 officer at FAAN. Today he can talk, tell stories and lies.

He said the Federal Government has done something injurious to the judiciary and to the psyche of Nigeria by proscribing Boko Haram. Are these guys genuine? How can anybody wake up and say the government has done something injurious by proscribing Boko Haram? Are they alright? Oh!

Why are you creating unnecessary revolts to chase him out of government?

And I keep repeating the letter of Paul to the Roman Chapter 14 and it is very clear that he that God has appointed on His authority, he is there on the authority of God. No human being should attempt to pull him down because the curse will be on whoever does that.

The polity is increasingly charged under President Jonathan. Don’t you fear a people’s revolution?

I am appealing to Nigerians to be patient. The challenge is the same all over the globe but we can surmount it with patience and steadiness. When I see this woman from World Bank, Oby Ezekwesili, who comes here and be ranting about and doing all that, at the end of it I get very aggrieved because she now ends up and says, “I am not a politician.” Very insulting! I do not know what her background is but let her come and face some of us here who are politicians. I am not afraid to say I am a politician.

Let her leave her high office and go down to the people and appreciate that the very micro unit of her contribution is nothing. These are the jokers being promoted in the media. Elections are coming, let her come and follow us to go and canvass and face the people. Then, she will stop talking the way she is talking.

Do you know what I hate to hear? “I am not a politician!” As if politicians are evil minded people. It is our country; let them also come and join and make it well. Let her come and try and go through election to become senate president, vice president or whatever and convince Nigerians that she is better. Not gassing on the television or grandstanding, looking for cheap popularity.

We have gone on since 1999. This is 2013; 14 years of uninterrupted democracy. It has never happened in the history of this country. Whatever anybody can say, it is a record. Thanks to our party, the PDP. Thanks to the founding fathers of PDP who conceptualized this zonal set up, Turn-by-Turn Nigeria Limited because Nigeria is a country and not yet a nation. We are grapping, we are grouping, we are struggling to make it a nation.

What problem does your party have with some opposition parties coming together in APC?

APC is already an obsolete drug. Before they start they are finished. They say, “Hand over power to us.” But you are not yet tested. The little one we tested you on, you are an abysmal failure; an absolute failure. We saw what you were but you are now richer than the bank. More properties than the state. That is all they can show.

George: Soon, FG will resolve Diya, others’ rights issue
George

Let them come to television and debate it. How many children of the poor have they benefited? Jakande established his education for the poor people with scholar scheme for children of poor people to go to university. He founded the Lagos State University, LASU, also so that children of the poor could access university education at ease. You now pay a minimum of N250,000 per annum to access education in that same Lagos State University. That is a quarter of a million! The palm oil seller, roasted plantain seller, akara seller, can they afford that? So, you are saying that their children should never have the opportunity?

What these jokers are doing now is for the privileged so that only the privileged can get there. Fashola also knew how he started. Was his father a rich man? Today, he is governor. If they had made it impossible for him to go to school, would he have ended up being a governor? Let them just think because, if we do not, one day and I repeat one day, the electorate will decide. We do not want what happened in Egypt or in Tunisia here. We do not want any Arab spring here. No. Let there be peace.

More money seems to be going to all tiers of government, but sir, is there no way that the presidency can monitor the outflow?

What is the president’s business with the activities of the governor? It is the members of the state House of Assembly who can challenge the governor about his revenue, expenditure and what he is doing with the money. But we know that when the man sits down in one room and selects his surrogates who go to the House of Assembly, he does not allow people who are being sponsored, supported by their constituencies to go there. What do you expect?

Like what is happening in Lagos State where Bola Tinubu just hand picks people who go to the Lagos State House of Assembly and who therefore cannot challenge him when necessary? They do not even have congresses like we do in PDP. Tell me any day you have seen them doing a national convention. The emperor decides and that is the man who says he is a democrat.

The company which collects revenues on behalf of Lagos State Government, who owns it?

People who are in charge of highway managers, who are they? Even the agency that has the places where dead people are buried, who owns them? Now they are sand-filling the Bar Beach. Generations before them had Bar Beach. Go to what the Alpha Beach has become and see the environmental impact on those villages there. What madness! What greed!

Narrowing of channel
Look at Isale Eko here! That is the only channel that takes water from the whole of Lagos Island into the Lagoon blushed with that nonsense they are doing there. Go to Parkview, they are sand-filling so that they would narrow the channel until it would meet Lekki. That Lagoon is the natural gift that God gave Lagosians. They have narrowed it now out of senseless greed. Someday I pray that when the flood or earthquake will come, he must be held responsible.

Let Tinubu deny it. It is this man that now has the temerity to speak out of his mouth and say Jonathan is not doing well and so he wants to rule Nigeria. He? I would cease to be a Nigerian. I am not joking. I would go to Ghana or Togo and beg for citizenship because they would destroy this country. The good thing is that this nation is so massive for him to comprehend.

The dynamics of this nation; he says he is carrying Yoruba people to go and join Buhari and form a national government. They are joking because where we were in 1999 is where they just want to start from now. What a joke! What a joke!!

To what extent will the crisis in the NGF affect your party?

I have been away for sometime but my opinion is that, we need to lock ourselves behind a door and tell ourselves some serious bitter truth. I am now begging them to admit that all sides are wrong: the party and the governors. And it is not a blame game now. It is a game for the future of our nation. So, it is time to calm all nerves. Let us all come back so that we can have a family meeting. Of course you can see the oppositions are happy. They think they can use the situation to destroy our party. Which of them; any of those under ACN of Bola can talk to him?

This "small" matter of using the Federal apparatus to harass political opponents has the potential to be the match that lights the great fire that consumes Nigeria. A FG that is incapable of funding the police force, also seems unable to control its personnel - even at the highest levels.

The police & army must stay completely out of politics. By not moving to quickly recall the Rivers State CP after he inserted himself into the politics of the state GEJ is setting a dangerous precedent. It shows the unprofessionalism of both the police leadership and the president himself.

This precedent will eventually catch up to GEJ himself as we watch events unfold towards 2015.
In your haste to drag Mr President into Amaechi's matter, you turned your post upside down.Your cart has firmly been placed before the horse
Politics › Re: Why Obasanjo Is Angry With President Jonathan by Myself2(m): 5:20pm On Jul 02, 2013
spywareczar: Another instance deemed condescending, according to the source, was
that Obasanjo sometime ago visited one of his farms in Cross River
State and observed that the road to the farm was in deplorable state
and immediately moved to address it.

"So, Baba expressed his disappointment to the Cross River State
governor on the state of the road but the man replied and said it was
the President that had not approved of it being a federal road.

"Right there, Baba called the president and narrated his encounter
with the governor and told the president that he had appealed to the
governor to go ahead with the road and that he'll be reimbursed by the
president, to which Jonathan was said to have replied in the
affirmative.

"But Baba was later shocked to hear that the president had sent for
the governor and dressed him down for what he considered 'reporting
him to Baba'. So, these are some of the things that people do not know
that are annoying Baba.

Can you imagine? shocked shocked shocked
This man that has been living off government patronage for over 4 decades is annoyed with the president just because the president didn't classified the road to his farm a federal road and because it was not tarred.

Road leading to his farm o shocked shocked shocked

So what happens to the hundreds of thousands of untarred and deplorable roads that snake the country which other Nigerians have to contend withhuh

Obasanjo has finally shown his selfish colour

duality: This is too petty for Amaechi. what is he trying to prove?. Is it not the same arrogance and betrayal his party is sccusing him of?
Exactly,a case of the pot calling the kettle black

If Wike is too insignificant for Amechi to discuss, then he should stop irritating our eardrums with his whinings about someone at the top did this and that,as he indeed is too insignificant for the President to worry about

Hemp photos: Tonto Dikeh risks 15-year jail term

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Friday said controversial Nigerian actress, Tonto Dikeh, risks a minimum of 15 years in jail for encouraging the consumption of hemp.

Dikeh had on Friday posted photographs of a wrap of hemp and grains of the weed formed into the letters, ‘Happy birthday POKO.’

She also posted a photograph of herself and added the inscription, ‘Mi smoke ganja mi smoke weed while my hatez smoke ma gossip.’

Her picture is a close-up of her face that seemed to depict her in a high state.

When Saturday PUNCH contacted NDLEA for comments, its spokesman, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the matter would be investigated.

He said the matter had been referred to the appropriate department of the agency.

Ofoyeju said, “Our attention has been drawn to the post quite frankly and I can tell you that action will be taken on it. The law is clear and NDLEA has been very clear on the issue. No one is permitted to sell, use, cultivate or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. The weed is one of the banned narcotics in the country.

“NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) states that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.

“Investigation has not started as of now but definitely, a step has to be taken on the matter. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse; so, it is obvious that the actress stands the risk of 15 years jail term. The appropriate department is meeting on the issue for necessary action.”

The NDLEA spokesman, however, declined to give any hint on particular steps the agency would take in its investigation, citing reasons bearing on ethics.

Dikeh’s post has expectedly drawn mixed reactions from readers, with many of them voicing concern for the way she is living her life.
