TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by mystikal(m): 4:01pm On Dec 13, 2021
Just putting this out there for any help I can get.

Arrived Glasgow on the 27th of November, stayed at a B&B for some days before moving into a recommended friend's flat in Maryhill road G20 where I am paying 400 pounds/month for a room. This arrangement is just for a month as the original room owner is due back in the first week of January.

I am currently searching for a studio or one room in a flat to move in before January in Glasgow. I have searched all the relevant sites and found a few, and looks like I might be settling for a 600 pounds/month room in G1 cos of the aesthetics, flexibility of tenancy and proximity to the University of Strathclyde where I am doing my PhD, but it is quite pricey and was looking for something in the region of 400-500 pounds per month, and was hoping if anyone here has any information that might help. I would be most grateful

was it one way or two way ticket?
Two way ticket actually.

But I've heard people argue that PTAs can equally be issued on one way tickets, though I doubt that very much

How did you go about getting your PTA?
I apologise for not responding on time. I haven't been here for a while. I am hoping you have sorted that out by now.
I just applied basically. You might need to apply well over two weeks before your travel date to stand a chance of getting the pounds, in this case. I used GTB in Wuse in Abuja

It is still a legal tender and still acceptable till 30th September 2022, after that date only banks in the UK will accept it from you.
Thanks a lot, I truly appreciate. This lady at the GTB forex desk in Wuse was telling me I'd struggle to use it so I was doubtful.

Also, are the 50 and 10 pound notes still acceptable at UK banks and at face value?

I am based in Abuja. I want to do police report in Abuja Louis Edet Police HQ at Area 11. But i heard rumors that UK travellers must obtain their police report from Ikoyi, Lagos. Is it true that police report clearance (to check criminal records) can only be done at Ikoyi, Lagos ?
Are police reports compulsory for all UK travellers?

How easy is it to have your dollars converted to pounds in the UK?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by mystikal(m): 3:00pm On Nov 24, 2021
Went to get PTA at GTBank today, was told paper pounds will be withdrawn soon and if I really want to get those.

Should I get dollars instead? And will it be easy to change dollars to pounds on arrival in UK.

Visa Alert!!!

God has said that the rest of the year is the best of the year for me! It has been a tumultuous journey but I dare say that God has been ever faithful. I bless Him for giving me the strength and the will to hold on, take crazy steps of faith, and now and I’m here. Phil. 1:6 & Eph. 3:20 & daily thanksgiving has been my routine since Oct 1st.

Submitted new POF to the University in order to meet a Visa Compliance Check condition due to the visa refusal received in Aug – Oct 27th

POF Accepted by the University – Oct 29th

CAS issued – Nov 2nd

Visa Application – Nov 5th

Biometrics – Nov 9th

NSF Mail – Nov 12th

CAS Used Update – Nov 17th

Paid Email – Nov 19th

Application moved to VAC – Nov 22nd

Collection Mail – Nov 22nd

Passport received with Vignette – Nov 23rd

I will never forget when I received the last refusal on the 10th of August. I was devastated, depressed, and pressed down. It seemed over for me at the time but God said He was just getting started with me. A number of friends I’d made during my biometrics in July at the time traveled to the UK and this made me sadder because I felt left behind. Few of them stood with me and kept monitoring my progress, just to ensure that I didn’t give up and I am glad I didn’t. I dare say that GOD CAME THROUGH FOR ME!

University of Strathclyde, Glasgow here I come in Jesus name (Amen)!!!
Congrats brother. See you in strathclyde. Leaving on Saturday

Good evening. I had a 10years ban from applying to UK which has since expired. I intend to apply for student visa, I hope my past history will not affect my application or from getting CAS from school.
Depends on what the ban was for. In any case, Just be honest and prove in your application that since that ban you've gone on to have a good paying job or business and doing well and not desperate to move back to the UK.

It should not affect your CAS by the way

Who has booked his flight with British airways recently? Is there a best time to access their website? Been trying to access the site for payment but it takes forever and wont connect eventually and they keep apologising citing huge volume of traffic. Its a shame that such a company will be struggling with connectivity issues

Please my TB test is scheduled for 5pm next week Monday. Is it possible for me to get my result or the same day? Also, if I go at 3pm, will they attend to me?
5pm?

I was scheduled for 8am when I did mine couple of months ago. As at 4pm my result wasn't out yet. I had to leave cos I had a 6pm flight to catch. Again that was at the peak of applications, the crowd was massive. Maybe there are less crowd now. You can try going earlier as you've suggested but have a plan B in case things don't go as you have planned.
