dam4sam: Please go and sit down, l have been doing stuffs like these when you were still in Pyjamas and that is not a slight. I am not interested in all these forming over the internet, packaging and smooth talk. 802.11b standard for wireless internet has been abandoned since 2006 or thereabout. Even wireless 'n' standard is more than ten years old. You need to get current and discuss recent innovations in wireless standards. Anyway, each man to his own, l am not here to prove anything to anybody.
As we say, @NotABibeli. I just recently installed a couple of this. It’s from Sony IPELA family. It’s not internet packaging. I actually attach a picture of the camera on one of the gate I showcase here few months back to give you ideas. For you to even argue wireless network is more secure than wired network gave me all the information I needed.

dam4sam: Astronaut BrabusNG, l think you are just being sarcastic because l dont know what to say to you but your argument sounds like someone who says because Vehicles kill people, he has decided to be trekking from Sagamu to Lagos and back, everyday. I am sure you still use a Nokia 3310, because it is a strong phone.
Apart from the effort required, the cost of tools required, the time required(which is money, if you are engaging labour), the exposure of wired Camera to the risk of tampering (Criminals first target is to cut the Data Signal CAT 6 Cable to the Camera and your Camera becomes a decoration), Portability or the ease of moving your Camera from point to point, is also a great advantage of Wireless Camera.
There are also multiple points of failure in a Wired Camera, especially around the RJ45 Crimp point, Heat can also deform the Cable over time, breakage is possible over time, etc. All these are avoidable with Wireless Camera and with robust Security techniques, your signals are encrypted end to end so that snoopers can curse their bad luck. Since your Smart Phones use Bluetooth, Wifi and other wireless technologies and they are safe enough for you to use it, why would you think a wireless Camera is less Safe?
____________________ Where did you hear that Amateurs are the ones using Wireless Cameras? Well, l guess it is Amateurs that that use Concrete Mixers or use Payloaders, the real professionals mix with Shovels and carry HeadPans on their head.

I’m surprise to hear Egun used 3 cans or big bottle of Trophy for installation of just one camera, Egun no supposed to be drinking on duty. Kai no good Baba, na fact be that! As a network security expert, we pro-wired network installers understand that a camera is a security device and not GOTV so its installation shouldn’t be handled carelessly. 3 bottles is even too small for one camera. A lot of work goes into this na. 1. Networking Planning = 1 bottle 2. Establishing the Cable Route/Installation = 1 bottle 3. Cable Termination = 1 bottle 4. Configuration = 1 bottle 5. dam4sam: Meaning you had to run and terminate Cables with a Crimping Tool? Would you not have preferred to use Wireless Cameras that connects straight to your Router and you can view it from anywhere on your Phone? Saves in effort, Cost of Cables and you can move it around the house easily. Engr dam4sam, I’m here again. Apart from the difficulty in installation of wired cameras which Baba said he downed with 3 can of trophy, why do you think wired cameras are at disadvantage? Amateurs do wireless. Pros do wired network for security, wider coverage (my single link can run more than 300ft without signal loss) and the reliability that PoE offers. _______ Have you heard of frequency jamming? |

dam4sam: No matter what you are building, always introduce Pillars, at least at the edges and tie them with the Lintel. You never can say what will be building next to you in future, or maybe a natural Earth Tremor/Vibration or even blasting for road construction or Mining, Pillars will help keep your building standing. Please use Pillars, the extra Cost will give you Peace of Mind.
And Yes, Ventilation is Poor, in most areas. Kitchen, Dinning, Living Room, etc Engr dam4sam, I built a bungalow without pillars at a location close to where Lafarge blasts limestone every 2 days. It’s almost 9 years now and there are no signs of visible cracks. Am I taking unnecessary risk? My foundation though can conveniently support 3 floors. It’s 1.2m deep but no pillars and 9in sandcrete blocks were used. |

dam4sam: Your question needs some more specifics, to get good and reliable response.
For example: What is the Tonnage of Granite quoted for 95K? Same thing with Sharp Sand? - Ask a User her called @Chekitaut or read his previous post on this thread, for Cost of Granite and Sand - What is the tonnage or Tipper size of Granite he is quoting for #95K? What is the type of Soil you are building on, (Swampy, Loamy/Soft, Valley, Hard Ground) to justify 35 Trips of Filling?
- Are you using Laterite to Fill or Sharp Sand? (Sharp Sand is better in a Wet area/ground) and what tonnage is he quoting for that Price? - If you are buying as much as 150Bags of Cement, why cant you Order it directly from the Manufacturers like Dangote, you will get it at around #2,800 plus or minus. That Price of #3,300 is December Price.
- For Planks, talk to @MountMoriah guy on this thread, he will supply you and you can pay on delivery. - What is the size of your Foundation (How many Boards, what is the dimension, can you share your Floor Plan or measure it yourself and state it here?), to get a better idea - Packing of Filling can be negotiated down to #4,000 per Trip since they are packing many Trips - Which is Hoes again? Are you Cultivating Cassava or Building a Foundation? I cant figure that one out, just cancel it
- What is the “machine” for and what Machine is he referring to? If it is a Ramming machine, then you need to cut down on the Price of Rammer, moreover, it does not cost #50K to rent one Rammer in a day. Budget 25K for manual Ramming and same for using a Ramming machine but allow time for the Soil to settle properly before doing the German Floor, Wet it very well. - Labour Cost of Casting will depend largely on the Size of your Foundation though an average Price of 120K -+ max should do (looking at Ten Carriers, One Ewe, One Engine Operator, etc) - Carpenter should be negotiated down to #30K Max, it cant be more than 2days work naah?
My advice, talk to QSFemi, he is a reliable and he will save you a lot of Money, when it comes to budgeting for your Build
Overall, you need to state your specific location because Labour and Material prices are also affected by Location.
Dont be discouraged. Good job Engr. dam4sam |

Badgers14: What a sad experience....
Is there any website, or office where someone could get a legitimate information regarding real estate before taking a leap??
It is sad that most of these "office people " in government do collaborate with bad guys to do this evil. Just wondering if there are still decent avenue for someone to source information before getting involved in a real estate transaction in Lagos.
In the west, it's all there in the county/council assessor/recorders office.
Who did this to us in Nigeria, Africa, government officials always backwards, gearing to cheat and deceive the people. No wonder so many people aren't proud to be Nigerians or African.
The world richest man Elon Musk is African but he never claims to be ( I have never heard him mention he is African ) and the press never addresses him as African or mention his African background, I wouldn't imagine he would be excited and be bouncing off the ceiling if he is addressed as African - he might buy the news outlet and shut down their operations. Website We were in Alausa for weeks if not Month. We were with people that matter a lot. We use social media (instablog and the likes). What we realize is that someone has vested interest in the location and he’s using govt arm to do the dirty job. No warnings, nothing. Houses were just demolished without.... notices. The guy wasn’t even in Nigeria when his house was hit. The person is here. I can’t keep sharing the horrible experience. We have a fundamental problem in this country and it’s because we have too many educated illiterates. The same thing we are experiencing here. How can we have a site with over 2,000,000 subscribers and we can’t think of how to add value to the people and make lives better. It’s just who we are! What’ll it cost LAGOS state govt to build an online land database? Even if its premium service. Corruption!!! |

The guy has been living in the house for 5 years before it was demolished last year. Even the house of a sitting commissioner from one of the Eastern states was demolished and nothing to the best of my knowledge could be done to stop it. I saw the guy who led the demolition team. MRFIXER001: As an engineer, no matter how strong and special a block is, it can't serve the purpose of a column (pillar). Column have both tensile and compressive strength while block has just compressive strength. Apart from transferring the load of the building to the foundation, a strong concrete column (pillar) prevent the movement of building cracks at the joint of the building. I will strongly advise you to use column where necessary, You’re very correct sir! I wish we had good engineering bricks like the one here https://www.kobocity.com/d/33/12 around. |

Roof carcass means the roofing woodwork. The wood you’re installing the aluminum sheet on.
So i guess i will be asking the roof guy what he is basing his estimate on.
He has only given you a guesstimate. The qty of roofing sheet materials needed can only be determined after you’ve done your woodwork. No builder or roofer has c-ray vision to know what’ll be required without the carcass.
The "flat sheet" i assume will be used to cover up the edges of the roof right (for lack of a better word). any idea what this cost? Budget same amount sir. The difference is very insignificant (to me) |

Aluminium roofing sheet 550mtr Flat sheet 68 MTR Accessories for #30k
My questions are; What's the average price of the 0.42 and 0.55mm roofing sheets? And is 68mtr length of flat sheet price the same as that of the roofing sheets? Lastly what do you think about the accessories price of 30k given to me fair or not?
Am still waiting for the carpenter to provide me the estimate for the materials needed for the wooden part so might be updating this later with more questions. Your building is 550sqm. We used 638sqm on this hall (pic 1 below) which is about 450sqm in size. This is just to give you an idea of what 550sqm can cover. Price of .55 is currently #2300 - #2500 (depending on the quality of the materials used)Is flat sheet price the same? No! 30k accessories is very fair You’ve not done the carcass?
