davodyguy:I know a couple of them that does this. It’s not impossible. Some escrow service providers in Nigeria. You can try it out with small transactions.
|
Dijita:This right? https://www.nairaland.com/2550211/general-topic-thread-to-discuss-anything/1840#97149468 |
Thazard:Hopefully I’ll share some information later today about this technology. I’m very close to a company that produces brick in large mass.
|
Thazard:Bricks are very strong and durable. |
Dijita:Sometimes it’s best to keep quiet and watch from the sideline. |
spyder880:It’s a very good business and I know there’s better soil around you. Bricks go well on contemporary structures when combined with other elements (like large glazed area) or when painted. I saw one in an estate in Lagos, painted all white. The wall looked like natural stone finished wall. ______ Maybe one day, the price of cement will force us to up our game on the use of these alternative materials that we have in large abundance.
|
EgunMogaji2:The POE Advantage.
|
EgunMogaji2:This is something most people don’t seem to understand when we discuss pricing here. There’s always a premium price |
EgunMogaji2:It’s really sad and very bad. The lad that I just worked on his/her drawing has engaged 2 different architects (paid 200k) and wasn’t able to get anything worthwhile from the transactions. Most of the bricks you use here are either over-fired or under-fired hence they react to all kinds of element. |
gbadexy:The quality of materials used. Most companies using this technology just assume once you have laterite or clay and brick producing machine, you’re good to go. I believe if a company like HFP is producing the bricks, it’ll be made to industry standard.
|
Nero2424:Way to go. I’m actually writing on hottest house designs and one of the materials I’ll be writing about is clay bricks. We need to understand how to use traditional materials in unconventional ways. They’re cheaper but can create a great feature. |
EgunMogaji2:Is it really worthwhile? I’ve used it and seen it on some projects including the Amen Estate. There’s practically nothing spectacular about it tbh. It was super cool during the build but years after I just can’t feel it anymore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHtR-NKW2sw Anyway, there’s a company in Ogun state that sells good price though. I’ll share the info when I have it. ______ The only thing I enjoyed while using this bricks is the interlocking idea. I really wish building blocks are made that way.
|
EgunMogaji2:This is definitely coming to kobocity. I had this discussion with someone yesterday. |
DancingSkeleton:Nice Building. Silver or Gold, I have none but you can steal some ideas from this model design ______ This is a budget build. You can achieve the designs without breaking bank. You just need a smart and creative team.
|
Commonsense101:I almost forgot to mention @oseun (an old timer here) If dealing with matured and responsible elderly men is what you’d like, he’s a sure deal. He’s one of the most respected elderly person I’ve ever met physically on nairaland and he’s got game and style. ______ I’d have to ask if I can share his personal details here though.

KolaShangOne:The reply once again: Engr ..., I built a bungalow without pillars (signifies the project has been built and long forgotten) at a location close to where Lafarge blasts limestone every 2 days. It’s almost 9 years now (lifetime specified) and there are no signs of visible cracks. Am I taking unnecessary risk? My foundation though can conveniently support 3 floors (gives info about the “foundation”). It’s 1.2m deep but (signifies there was a limitation) no pillars and 9in sandcrete blocks were used. I hope it’s clearer now cos I don’t know how many people are “WE” |
nnadychuks:Create a thread for this on kobocity.com I’m interested. Let’s do this there because of the PM feature. I’d like to know more. Thanks sir. |

KolaShangOne:I said my foundation can conveniently carry 3 floors. I didn’t say my foundation without columns can conveniently carry 3 floors. You added “without columns” ![]() Interestingly, in the same location I have another foundation with column that’s carrying 2 floors. The foundation without column is for bungalow. |
n3xt:As promised, we took on this job and make some changes to the old design to have something not just functional but modern. In her words, our client said: I have always liked that concept of someone entering the house from the back without visitors knowing who came in, same way I can also leave through the back without them knowingSo we played around with options and eventually introduced a very nice contemporary feature called lipstick. We also did a lot of back and forth to increase the value of the building. As an astronaut that my uncle called me I understand that good design commands a higher premium and a great designer must understand how to maximize the use of space. So what’s new? - Great relationship between indoor and outdoor living spaces - 3.3m High Ceiling - Large Rooms/Kitchen - Well-Curated Fixtures and furnishings - Functional Living Spaces for Minimalists _____ Pic 1 - Privacy Screen considered Pic 2 - Featured Wall (Lipstick) added Full design review by NextHome on kobocity.com
