topsy23: 1$. = N525. Which way Nigeria,. Everything will be affected and all price will change again
The question I asked when Buhari was presented as flagbearer of APC, CPC... was “Between myself and my dad, who do you think would perform better in a modern world.”
I am not surprised at all. 1984 is still fresh in our mind and to be honest, nothing has really changed about him.
Now I’m scared to even put my family in the so much celebrated trains because there’s so much hunger and anger in the land.
twinskenny: lol review? nigeria my country someone that supposed to have been arrested already
They won’t because a lot of heads will roll.
Just think about it! He released the suspect when he discovered there was no threat to life and later became friend with hushpuppi afterwards. Case file was opened and closed at will
I hope the internal review will investigate the Vincent vs Abass vs NPF case - the yeye padi padi case wey no get case file.
I’m so happy this is happening because there are so many people who have used false accusation/police victimization to get their perceived enemies/competitors behind bars.

By birds of the same feather, I guess?
I guess they’re (NPF) just hearing about the case. Or they’re waiting to be served by FBI before they swing into action?
A clean entity will commence investigation and internal review of cases involving hushpuppi immediately he was picked last year.
________
Baba, isu eni loń t’owó ení bo epo.
If this is coming from a decorated officer of the law in my country, don’t blame those who call us terrible black people.
omanzo02: Ah! So supercop Abi robocop and his boys also did Hushpuppi on you?
I am eager to hear Nigeria government response/defence to this damning allegations filled with hard evidence since they denied agbada Gandollar incidence.
He he he!!!
That’s why they came up with a fictitious N5m allegation when they discovered I’m a tough nut to crack.
I simply smiled and told them “Just provide evidence when we get to court!”
EgunMogaji2: OMG, so he was actually named in the court documents
He still feel this is naija x-squad orderly room trial where they can appeal to the complainant not to spill the bean or do a facebook defense.
Hushpuppi knew he has nothing more to lose hence the reason he’s spilling the beans.
_______
Below is the defense line of most corrupt cops whenever they’re being tried by the x-squad. They do this after they must have either begged the complainant not to admit he offered them bribe (willingly or unwillingly) or threatened him/her.
_______
To deal with Naija dirty cops and sorry hungry charge-and-bail lawyers, simply argue with facts. If you challenge them to a battle of wits, you’ll see they’re unarmed.
Shoutout to all those who use these miscreants to victimize their contractors. Your fanboy is a super fraud.
Take guns away from these guys and see how useless they are. You need to see how one of them was begging me during an orderly room trial by the X-Squad at the force headquarter when they came up with the fictitious N5m fraud claim against brabus.
Useless set of people!
Like Hushpuppi, like Kyari. Just listen to the weak defense of the super fraud

So what’s the update on the borehole saga? It’s another 2 weeks after the issue was raised.
heniford2: We are watching buhari on This particular case his fight on corruption and police at large lets watch on how it unfold if the allow this man to go without checking it out buhari legacy on corruption is useless
Baba: Just drop the name of the babalawo make we too patronize am. Rods cost these days.

To think the caterpillar in the picture below is right inside the plot where the building I shared is situated, is amazing. It passed tight inside our plot to wreck havoc on the next building but couldn’t bring down ours.
I think it’s safe to say the building passed village people structural integrity test.
Born2conquer: This! I bought the best door at orile (4ft and 3ft) and the seller was claiming turkey door but i knew a few solid kicks and co would break the door, even if doors should keep them off, Robbers now break the wall outside the house to gain entrance into main house, will we have to cast the walls with concrete Also? Some also do come through the roof, others do pull the burglary windows off.
If your design is right and you did not bat an eyelid on critical structural elements (quality of block, thickness of your plastering, gauge of reinforcement used, column sizing etc) during construction, I believe strongly that break-in through the wall won’t really be a bother even if the thieves come with a demolition hammer.
_______
A structure that I designed sometimes around 2014 or 15 was among the buildings LASG went to demolish in Ajah area last year.
A lot of sympathizers who throng to the site were surprised the structure didn't fall like every other building in the neighborhood despite the fact that the caterpillar has remove some critical columns supporting the first floor slab.
Most people didn’t know there were lots of supplemental columns buried introduced to provide additional support for the structure while designing the building.
This explains the reason the building was able to survive the demolition before people could get an order to stop the illegal exercise.
Pics below
________
Just last week, I tried breaking some wall on my building to update features. It was as if I was breaking concrete.
I watched this and thought to myself this could have been prevented/averted or limited by simple basic technology we often take for granted.
#1. That CCTV should have been monitored. In a set-up like a supermarket, it is of no use setting up a CCTV without personnel to monitor it. If the CCTV was being monitored, the child could have been seen straight away and the staff could react swiftly to put out the fire. This is negligence on the part of the operators of the supermarket.
#2. An industrial smoke/fire detector would have sounded an alarm to alert staff of the danger almost immediately after the child struck the lighter. From the look of things, such a supermarket has no fire/smoke alarm. The question is: how did the supermarket pass planning approval with the authorities? Set-up like these should not get planning approval or license to operate without putting fire prevention measures in place. Who places gas cylinders, a connected gas cooker and lighters together in the same place accessible to all? This is just daft. The operators would have a hard time with their insurance company if they have one. The insurance company may fight this and refuse to pay.
#3. A fire water sprinkler would have prevented the supermarket from burning completely to the ground. A fire water sprinkler is even more ardently needed in Nigeria where the fire service is not up to scratch. And these gargets are not even that expensive to implement. It is either the I-don't-care attitude of some Nigerians, cutting corners, or lack of basic knowledge.
For those of you architects in here and engineers, have you ever included water sprinklers in your Mech drawings for a commercial outfit? Most of the answers would be 'no'. Architects in Nigeria, you must up your game beyond your traditional cut and paste to include cutting edge, life-saving, and health and safety designs both for home and commercial outfits. This is a challenge for you all.
If you are a Local Government Agency employee in charge of planning approval and you're reading this, you must do your job diligently. Stop collecting bribes and enforce the planning process to its fullest. Your corrupt ways are killing Nigerians.
Homeowner, you will do well to instal smoke/carbon monoxide detector and alarm at home. A fire extinguisher for home use will not go amiss. And place lighters out of the reach of children. This is not rocket science.
To be honest, what we build in naija is shelter not a house.
Born2conquer: This! I’ve been thinking about the best way to keep the house fully secured but I realize no amount of Security protocols can keep determined robbers from gaining entrance.
Make person sha dey keep cash for house incase robbers come, they can at least go with something without harming family members
diordaves: This is a sad and unfortunate incidence. I hope they are/have been caught.
I don't think the design of the house would have helped on this occasion as the senior from the goodness of her heart let them in to pass the night. I think Nigerians at the lower end of societal ladder are increasingly getting wicked and jealous of people they perceive in their warped mind as successful and rich. They have seemingly successful folks as target.
A member of my landlord association was kidnapped by her driver of 12 years assigned to her by the bank they're both employed. 20 million Naira ransom was demanded and paid. Do you know what? After the driver and his gang were rumbled, it was discovered the driver is building the exact same house as his madam from the proceed of kidnapping. The same design down to the type of fence. He continued working at the bank before he was caught in another kidnap operation.
So no matter the design of our homes, the people we have around us and sometimes even the family members we have around us are the weakest link in any security set up.
May her soul rest in peace.
I still can't wrap my head around why some people do what they do.
Attn: All Homeowners especially those building for their parents or grandparents.
Beware of Who You Let into Your Property and Pay Good Attention to Your House Design
An old woman was gruesomely murdered in Ologuneru area of Ibadan this morning by her former driver. She let the former employee and his friend into her apartment to pass the night last night before they committed the dastardly act.
Since morning, I’ve been very disturbed and felt this could have been prevented if the building was designed to funnel visitors/guests into the family area only through the main entrance. This will ensure that unwanted guests would have to negotiate several layers of security before he or she can find anything of value or gain access into the family area.
KolaShangOne: Six (6 ) units of building is understandable because of volume. You be big man.
For me to do it on a single unit at a site, I have to move my electric saw to site, get electricity / generator, mount a work table, also factor in wear and tear, time etc.
So for the question @sonnie10 asked which was a SINGLE DUPLEX, it makes more sense to cut it at the mill. It will cost 500 - 600 naira for 20pcs of wood.
somehow: He fires those we have different opinions.
He surrounded himself with those that wouldn't question him.
Again, this is me talking from experience.
N. B = Not like he was paying anyone then to moderate.
I know this. I had discussion with our sleepy mod 10 years ago and I can tell nairaland is just an accidental success. Baba was just blabbing... Nothing like strategic planning, team depth, training, leadership, goals, etc was discussed because there was none. Everything is as the spirit led.
I got the rudest shock of my life when I heard that the biggest forum in Nigeria (abi west Africa or subsahara Africa) was only registered as a business enterprise. It tells a lot about us out there!
Abi oyinbo no go know?
We just like doing the comfortable things. Once it works, just leave it o! The up NEPA thingy!
It’s well!
_______
Let’s not be in a rush to blame only Seun though.
Blame his environment which believes once you gather money to open a shop, you’re automatically a professional in your field of endeavor. No need for trainings or support. Everyone here is a professional so long you have a thread, a phone number and Instagram page
Blame everyone of us who believe this is our best just like we believed 12 hours light a day is a great news
Blame those who think moderation is all about wielding the big stick and not stewarding people towards doing things right and not just doing right things (the wrong way) and using the platform to make them become better in their businesses. I felt bad hearing our own dominionng complained bitterly about the system that runs here and guess what we are all silent like it’s nothing.
Do I expect anything? No!
______
One thing I really love about nairaland is that I can use the platform to talk sense into us and no one can beat me!
Nairaland community is by extension our own Nigeria. What are you doing to make it better
somehow: The guy is all about money, does not care about anything else. This is why the forum has remained the way it is today.
Talking as an insider!
I think it’s kinda tough for the guy especially with the calibre of people he surround himself with, to move from the realm of accidental success to the realm of habitual achievement.
Emphasis on the bolded because it is often difficult for entrepreneurs (young or old) to self-analyze their growth and progress without a right mentor or coach - not just yes men!
I think Seun is surrounded by yes-men!
_______
Paystack is a great example of a great business by young naijapreneurs with good mentors. The difference is clear!
KolaShangOne: Errrmm.. I guess you're asking this question to throw open the discussion?
If you're doing lintels, does your carpentar cut across the 12feet grain of the wood on site? For a typical 4 bedroom flat, you need about 20pcs of 9" boards.
It will take them approximately 2-3mins to saw it at the mill, it will take your carpentar alot of stress and hours to cut across the 12feet length of 20pcs of wood.
It's easier cutting rods to sizes on site. The cutter doesn't even take 2 seconds.
Now I understand your point.
I was on 6 units of building recently, we did all the wood cuttings on site because I have all the tools to do that live on site and my carpenter didn’t charged me extra money for doing that.
As a matter of fact, he only bring people who are familiar with the use of machines to the site and use those who uncomfortable with it to do other works.
I think this is easier for me because I’m in formwork rental business and you don’t just cut woods anyhow on my projects. All our woods are to cut-to-measure and only we only cut when it’s extremely important.
