CareerRe: Why Are Professionals So Underpaid In Nigeria? by naijacann: 11:21am On Aug 11, 2011
@ Lacewiggal

Sagamite has proven himself to be the MOST USELESS FELLOW ON NAIRALAND and so my advise is not even dignify him with a response.
He has absolutely nothing to say other than to ABUSE HIS ASS on nairaland. I pity the school that gave him admission to study in london(that is if he at all has even a JUNIOR WAEC RESULT that he wrote by himself)

CareerRe: Why Are Professionals So Underpaid In Nigeria? by naijacann: 2:41am On Aug 11, 2011
@Sagamite

You really represent what is wrong with nigeria.
Can u imagine! I had thought that I was arguing and debating with a human being with sense, little did I know U never had anything to say other than to keep disgracing yourself on nairaland saying absolutely nothing. All u do is insult people who came here to make genuine and legitimate intellectual argument.
In fact, you're the MOST USELESS HUMAN BEING I'VE EVER ARGUED WITH!!!! U're such a joke!!! Such a loser!!! Can u imagine!!

Fairness should be applied to all sectors.
You cannot in good conscience justfiy the 1.5b naira our senate president takes yearly and then tell me that it was too high for a pharmacist to earn good pay. Meanwhile Obama earns an equivalent of only 55million naira before tax annually. When u remove more than 30% tax from that amt, then u know how much his take home pay is annually.
By the way, have u even considered the cost of living in a place like Abuja? Abuja is pretty much more expensive than so many cities in USA(like houston, florida, dallas, durham, raleigh, etc) and Canada(like manitoba, halifax, edmonton, orangeville, etc), Check out the facts. Give me a break on the GDP nonsense. What is the GDP of South Africa? If our resources are well managed, S/A wouldn't be a match to ngr; but they in SA pays way higher than we do in ngr. Could u imagine that naija doctors go to SA to train with the latest equipment. What an outrage! Meanwhile Delta state gov is writing a check of 3b naira to OBJ; Bode George was jailed for stealing 100b naira. I believe that the reason for the underpayment is a misplacement of priorities in nigeria and corruption.  Nigeria has enough resources to pay her deserving professional well and not the peanut 18000 naira death wage[/b]
CareerRe: Why Are Professionals So Underpaid In Nigeria? by naijacann: 8:25pm On Aug 09, 2011
All of u guys that are saying that its unfair to compare salaries of naija and the sates or britain, ok, , how come our Law makers earn fatter salaries than American law makers? Why is it that a member of house of representatives in ngr earns higher than Obama? Can someone explain this for me.
CareerRe: Why Are Professionals So Underpaid In Nigeria? by naijacann: 3:35am On Aug 06, 2011
@Nije4life
Just for you to know, when you're highly enthusiastic to serve ya people-fellow africans/ngrs, you can positively consider just a decent remuneration.
$6k is quite decent especially considering the fact that the school provided an accommodation and a car for him.
Moreover, by the time you remove the taxes he pays on his $9k/mth, he's earning almost what he earns here.
CareerRe: Why Are Professionals So Underpaid In Nigeria? by naijacann: 5:31pm On Aug 05, 2011
It is utterly ridiculous.
A friend of mine with a PhD in Computer Science here in Canada got 4 offers of employment from 4 ngrn universities. How much were they gonna pay him? guess.
Just 350k/mth, gosh, dat's just $2300, an amount he makes a wk here.
But guess what, he's currently teaching in a South African university where they pay him an equivalent of 950k naira ($6k) per month.
I think ngr has a long way to go in terms of remunerating and well compensating merit especially if they wish to attract talents.

Guy, go for it. It's worth it. Ngrn banking industry is not the most stable place to be.
Besides. u aint liking wat you're doing. Go where ya heart leads you.
If its engineering, u sure have my backing. Trust me, you'll get a rewarding and fulfilling job after that.
Christianity EtcRe: Solution To Our Educational System: Pastor Chris Books by naijacann: 7:04am On Jul 06, 2011
How can you have a good educational system when u pay your PHDs and Professors peanuts as salary?
A south African prof earns an equivalent of $8thousand a month while Nigeria's Professor earns $3500. What a disparity!!!(Immagine then how much a lower cadre lecturer with a phd earn)
Meanwhile, your House of Representative Member(Not even senator yet) earns higher than the President of the United States.

The amount of 100million, is a take off grant. Its is not the totality of amount to be spent on schools or health.
More funding would be disbursed.
Its not a propaganda
CareerRe: How Much Do Nurses Earn In Nigeria? by naijacann: 9:43am On May 16, 2011
@ima 1
NP is a great option. Although its not officially recognized in nigeria, it gives you ample strength and all the advantages when it comes to medical surgical nursing and health assessment. With this and ya computer background, you might want to add a post-masters (takes 6-8 mths of full time studies) degree in Nursing/Health Care informatics, and you'll be ready to roll. Trust me, this area of healthcare (with specific emphasis on nursing) information systems has great potential of becoming a hot cake in the near future in Nigeria.
I don't have current information on whether multinationals in ngr have started utilizing electronic health recording systems(but I believe they should) but it has great potentials with limitless earning potentials. Think about possibilities of consulting for big private and govt hospitals in setting up modern electronic health information systems, Think about possibilities of consulting for institutions and hospitals when it comes to manpower training as well. With your NP background, think about possibilities of consulting for institutions when it comes to setting up and use of modern day facilities and equipment. Great potentials, trust me.
CareerRe: How Much Do Nurses Earn In Nigeria? by naijacann: 6:18pm On May 15, 2011
@ima 1
I'll seriously advise that you get a Masters degree and if possible a doctorate there in the states(even if its an 18 months DNP) and then move into teaching in Ngr. Doctoral trained nurses in ngr are rare to come by and so schools will grab you immediately.
A friend just finished his Phd in Nursing here in Canada and jokingly sent three applications with resume to three high ranking federal universities in naija, come see calls and grabbings. He eventually settled with one in southern part of the country. Salary? Btwn 350 and 400k naira/mth as a senior lecturer. 'Textbook and handout' and probably a part-time position in one or two more univs/schools of nursing no follow this amount ohh. Girl, this is ya best option. Otherwise, u might want to train in ICU or CVICU in the states in addition to ya BScN in order to capture a good job in a big multi national in ngr (if u don't want to go into teaching).
Hope that helps.
CareerRe: How Much Do Nurses Earn In Nigeria? by naijacann: 5:45pm On May 15, 2011
Wow, if a CNO(level 14) earns 300k, I wonder how much an Asst. Director(Level 15) nurse earns, let alone a Deputy Director(Level 16)?
It is outrageous though that there is no Level 17 Nursing position in the federal civil service). I strongly believe there ought to be a Directorate position there, titled 'Director of Nursing Services', a level 17 position. This would then give a nurse an equal chance of being appointed a permanent secretary and later as a head of service of the federation.
PoliticsI Warned My Igbo Brothers Against Jonathan! by naijacann(op): 9:47pm On May 12, 2011
Now south east has lost out in all the positions in the National Assembly.
Even PDP chairmanship naw goes to the north.
Just wait for GEJ to roll out his cabinet, you'll find out that the most an Igbo man would get is gonna be Minister for Communications/Information.
With a staunchly sworn anti- Igbo personality like Edwin Clarke advising GEJ, the Igbos are bound to lose Big.
Appointing an Igbo man as Chief of Army Staff was just a big deception and ploy to get our votes; the true Jonathan is showing off naw.
How insulting to zone senate presidency to north central again when the Igbos actually gave Jonathan the highest percentage of votes of any region.
The entire south south did not vote PDP as EDO went AC.  To hell with Jonathan. He is anti-igbo.
U all can call me anything u want, but my predictions have always been spot on, from the emergence of George Bush to the election of Obama, to the election of Yaradua and then Jonathan(if igbos vote for him). I predicted the re-election of the most useless governor in nigeria-T.Orji of abia cos there was no other strong contender as well as the triumph of Rochas. I predicted Buhari would lose if he fails to pick a strong Igbo man as VP. They all came to pass. I won big money on all those bets.
Thanks God though for Rochas. He will wipe out our tears.

PoliticsRe: Fashola/Ngige Ticket For 2015! by naijacann(op): 12:10pm On May 11, 2011
@Le Molar
If u read ma post well, u'll find out that I did not make any preferences on who stays on top b/twn ngige and fashola; and so did not mean to belittle any body.
Besides I'm from Umuahia. Why would I belittle my pple?
Of course Ngige with Fashola as VP would be more Superb.
PoliticsFashola/Ngige Ticket For 2015! by naijacann(op): 2:44am On May 11, 2011
Permit me to submit my predictions for 2015.
PDP gets booted from power after 2015. Reason: Besides Jonathan, there isn't any other likeable person in PDP.
The equation could change if PDP decides to bring in a radical like Col. Abubakar Umar to fly its ticket together with a strong Igbo man as VP. But I doubt if all those thieves would ever take this risk of installling Umar. Sambo isn't a factor at all, and so I wont even mention him.
The only guy left is David Mark. I think he'll try; but If AC flies a south west-south east ticket(Muslim/xtian ticket) in Fashola and Ngige---guys ethnicity apart---this would be a winning ticket. (Besides, Mark is a christian, who in the east would he fly with him that's a muslim?)
The entire south would vote for them(fashola/ngige), including christians in the north. Edo goes with them as well. And so this may well be the ticket.
But if they decide to fly a Ribadu/Fashola ticket, and PDP picks a strong Igbo man as VP together with a notherner on top, then AC should kiss themselves good bye for 2015.
Someone just shouted Sambo/Soludo 2015!!!, Well, we'll see.

PoliticsImo Supplementary Elections: Ohakim May Win. by naijacann(op): 1:59pm On May 05, 2011
I believe this is a huge possibility especially coonsidering the kind of politiking Ohakim is employing.
Besides, he has the state treasury.
Of course, personally, I want Rochas to win, but I'm begining to prepare myself for a possible second tenure for Ohakim.
I still urge all Imo indegenes in those election areas to vote en masse for Change tomorrow.
What do u think?
PoliticsRe: Who Wins In Imo State? by naijacann(op): 5:35am On Apr 27, 2011
I learnt its still dicey. Ararume is still a contender especially in Okigwe region.
Rochas seems to be winning in Owerri, results still trickling in.
Ohakim may end up being the cat with nine lives and survive, but we'll see.

Who cares about Larry king?
He ended up as an extreme left wing liberal biased in his interviews.
I used to like him before, but his left wing biased posture since the 2008 presidential election till date, turned me off.
Besides, his ratings became the worst at 9pm slots in the united states being obliterated daily by fox news' Shawn Hannity.
To hell with the king!!!
