I will be brief. I love this lady and I believe she loves me too because she is my dream woman. we plan to get married by early next year, but the problem here is that my mom want me to hold on with the wedding because she feels I'm not buoyant enough for marriage. My finance promise to support though.
By this year December, I should have saved 1.5M from my pocket and I believe family and friends will support as my total budget for the wedding is 2M.
Although I didn't tell her about my savings yet. I don't want to enter a marriage without my parents support. Just few months left to new year and I'm so confused right now.
What should I do guys?

An Islamic cleric, Kabiru Ibrahim, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing his client, Lukman Adeleke in Osun State.
Ibrahim was sentenced to death by an Osun State High Court, sitting in Iwo after he was charged with conspiracy, murder, and theft, contrary to Sections 324, 319(1), and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Laws of Osun State.
Ruling, Justice Lateef Adegoke said the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt, hence the Islamic cleric was found guilty of murder and theft.
Justice Adegoke ruled that the Islamic cleric was handed a seven-year jail term for stealing and death by hanging for murder.
A statement from the Information Officer of the Ministry of Justice, Opeyemi Bello, said the prosecution led by Abiodun Badiora, informed the court that the Islamic cleric was a spiritual consultant to Adeleke.
Badiora informed the court that Adeleke had informed Ibrahim about his plans to buy a plot of land and the cleric ordered him to bring the money for an overnight prayer before proceeding to pay the vendor.
But, the family of the deceased disclosed that Adeleke went missing after his contact with the cleric for prayers.
Upon their notice, a search party was sent out and the deceased family was informed that Adeleke was last seen when he visited Ibrahim for prayers.
After nearly five years of regulatory delays, 9mobile has secured approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to launch national roaming services on MTN Nigeria’s infrastructure in June 2025, according to two people with direct knowledge of the deal. This move is a critical lifeline for the struggling operator, whose market share has plummeted to 1.72% in April 2025, down from 6.6% in 2020 when it first sought the approval.
The national roaming journey began in August 2020, when the NCC granted MTN and 9mobile a three-month pilot to test roaming capabilities. Although that trial concluded in October 2020, a full commercial rollout was stalled for years, until the recent approval paved the way for a nationwide launch. The move allows 9mobile to extend coverage into regions lacking its infrastructure, significantly improving service reliability for its remaining users.
MTN and 9mobile did not respond to requests for comments.
At the center of the rollout is a national roaming and spectrum-sharing agreement between 9mobile and MTN made in August 2020. Under the deal, 9mobile users will be able to make calls, send SMS, and access mobile data by connecting to MTN’s expansive infrastructure in areas where 9mobile’s network is weak or absent. The partnership is designed to mitigate the chronic service disruptions and coverage gaps that have plagued 9mobile and contributed to its subscriber losses.
For 9mobile, the agreement is a strategic opportunity to regain lost ground without the financial burden of building out its national infrastructure. It also opens the door for a potential comeback in the telecom rankings. With Globacom’s market share falling to an all-time low of 11.9% in April 2025, down to 20.6 million subscribers, analysts say the race for the third-largest operator is wide open.
“The number three spot is still very much in play,” said one telecom executive who requested anonymity to speak freely. “Now that 9mobile will have access to MTN’s national footprint, it’s all about how well they can package and market their services. Identity still matters—many of their users are tied to their numbers. If they bundle smartly, they can start to claw back users.”
The agreement is also a strategic win for MTN. In return for providing access to its infrastructure, MTN gains the ability to utilise 9mobile’s underused spectrum assets in the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz frequency bands. These bands are vital for expanding coverage and improving data capacity, especially in areas where network congestion is a persistent issue.
The 900 MHz spectrum, for instance, is highly effective for wide-area coverage and indoor penetration, making it ideal for rural and semi-urban areas. Meanwhile, the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands provide the high capacity needed in dense urban markets. For MTN, which serves over 84 million subscribers, this spectrum access could significantly enhance performance, reduce congestion, and improve the customer experience.
Still, some caution that regulatory oversight could limit how the spectrum is used. “It’s a calculated bet for both operators,” said the same telecom executive. “The NCC will likely impose restrictions to ensure fair use and prevent market distortions.”
For the NCC, the deal represents more than just a bilateral business arrangement. It underscores the Commission’s broader strategy to foster infrastructure sharing and promote spectrum efficiency in a high-cost operating environment. National roaming agreements like this are seen as essential to improving service delivery while avoiding the duplication of costly network deployments.
The NCC did not respond to requests for comments.
As 9mobile prepares for its long-awaited national roaming launch, the telecom industry will be watching closely. If executed well, the deal could serve as a blueprint for how smaller operators can stay competitive in a landscape increasingly dominated by MTN and Airtel. More importantly, it offers hope that millions of Nigerian mobile users, particularly in underserved areas, could soon enjoy better, more consistent connectivity.
Barely two months after the Ogun State Government sealed a factory, Quantum Steel Industry, in the Ogijo area of the state following an explosion that left seven employees critically injured, another employee has lost his life in an industrial accident.
PUNCH Metro learnt on Tuesday that the incident occurred last Monday when the employee, identified as Abayomi, a forklift operator, got stuck in the scrap grinding machine.
A casual worker at the factory, who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation, disclosed that the machine operator had instructed Abayomi to remove a scrap that was stuck in it without knowing that the machine was still powered.
The worker added that immediately after Abayomi removed the scrap, the machine began working and rolled him like a scrap.
He added that other workers at the scene of the incident rushed to rescue him, but he was brought out dead.
The worker said, “A fellow worker at Quantum Steel Industry was killed by a scrap grinding machine last Monday. He was instructed by the scrap machine operator, who is a foreign national, to enter the machine and remove a scrap that was stuck in it.
“Unfortunately, he did not know that the operator had not switched it off. As soon as he removed the stuck scrap, the machine picked up and rolled him.
“Other workers at the factory tried to rescue him, but when he was brought out, he was already dead.”
When contacted for a reaction on Tuesday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, did not respond to messages sent to her line as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, a police officer in the area who was privy to the incident but not permitted to speak with the press confirmed the incident to our correspondent in a telephone conversation on Tuesday.
“Yes, it happened,” the police source said.
Efforts to get the reaction of Quantum Steel Industry proved abortive as the respondent of the contact available on its website disclosed that he was not in a position to speak with the press.
PUNCH Metro reported on March 7 that the Ogun State Government sealed Quantum Steel Industry in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government and Xinfeng Plastics Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway following two industrial accidents that occurred at the factories.
This followed industrial accidents that left one person dead and seven others with severe injuries.
The Special Adviser to Ogun Governor on Environmental Protection Agency, who doubles as the Chairman of the State Taskforce on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, Farook Akintunde, noted that the government decided to shut down the companies to avert future occurrences.
The Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, Enugu State Police Command, has arrested four male suspects for conspiracy, staged kidnapping, and defrauding the parents of a staged kidnapping victim of N2million.
The suspects included Chidera Godwin Ako, 21, who orchestrated his kidnapping; Okechukwu Philip Chidalu, 19; Ifeanyi Ugwu, 20; and Ossai Chigozie, 35, recently released from the Nigerian Correctional Service custodial centre.
They were arrested about 1 p.m on May 24, this year. with a local single-barrel gun and two live cartridges.
According to the spokesman of the state Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, Chidera was reported missing on May 4.
“Subsequently, on May 21, 2025, his accomplices used his phone to demand a N10million ransom from his parents, sending a video of him bound, appearing beaten, with the recovered gun pointed at him.
“The parents pleaded for his release and paid N1.5million into a provided account, on May 22, but the suspects failed to release him. After an additional N500,000 payment, the police operatives swiftly arrested Chidera and his accomplices at a POS centre during an attempt to withdraw the funds.
“The suspects confessed to the crime and will be arraigned upon completion of investigations,” the police said.
Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, while describing the criminal act as unfortunate, has ordered further arrests of anyone linked to the crime.
He urged the public to report suspected kidnappings and avoid hasty ransom payments, emphasising that some cases might be staged.
