eldee: Didn't I mention Pac. . .whose mum was a felon, that only got out of a case a month before he was born? Or DMX who had a mental depression? Or Dr Dre whose mum gave birth to him at 16?
Please mention one hardcore rapper that had a smooth childhood They were all Rags to Riches okay, you got me on that one. i'll give you a point for that. |

Jackal: Whatz so wrong with rappers repping their hood? The same hood the government have neglected when these rappers were kids!!!! In the hood, the system is designed to fail the BLACK MAN. Gun shops are situated next to liquor stores and u expect jobless minds not to shoot themselves?? Are we being realistic here?
The system continue to let these rappers down so all they really believe in is what made em recognised/rich!!!!! It's easy for people to point the accusing finger but when u sit down and think how difficult it is for a kid with no father figure(father either dead or in prison) and mother works 3 jobs to make ends meet. . . . Where do these kids draw their inspiration? Of course, THE STREETZ!!!! While people like us see doctors, engineers as role models. . . . .These kids in the hood see drug dealers and killers as theirs. There's a big DIFFERENCE. oh dont give me that. some of the kids here in MD who live in million dollar homes with 2 money making parents leave their home to make a pit stop in the hoods of DC. sometimes you can't even tell who is from the suburbs and who is from the hood when you see them. sometimes they are even ashamed to come from a nice place. so u tell me why they look to the streets. there's nothing wrong with repping your hood but repping about the hood life it stupid. bragging about gun shoots and drugs is just not cool. |

maybe he doesn't mean 100% igbo descents. maybe he was trying to say about 60% of AA have some traces of igbo blood, then maybe it would make sense because 60% is a pretty high percentage. |

Jackal: These cats don't know what they talking about. . . . . I learnt more stuffs from RAP MUSIC than formal education. When u relax n listen to intellectuals like NAS, Can-I-Bus, Common, Lauryn Hill then they would know RAP aint only about VIOLENCE.
What other genre of music cuts across every sphere of life: Violence, Drugs, Politics, Black Consciousness, Guns, Love, Family and what not?? Isn't that better than the boring shit we hear everyday from R-n-B music n Rock. . . It's all about MAKING LOVE n BREAKING UP. What can i possible learn from Boyz II Men or Neyo? Tssssssssssk. . . . Tsssssssk okay, true, u can "learn" from rap but stupid people don't understand what rap music is suppose to be. you don't have to praise living in the hood cuz its not the best thing. and some of these rappers came from a good home but decided to live the street life. the stuff they be talking about is the same thing that be happening in the suburbs. you can talk about violence, drugs, the black race or whatever but those subjects are usually coming from a negative perspective and not a positive perspective. you could still be real but not over do it. |

whether she's a fool or not, you are taking it too far by involving her parents. if she has no daddy, none of your business, you shouldn't say those things period to anyone. |

Culture › Re: Why Do Nigerians Lie And Say They Are From Another Country In Africa? by naijadiva2(f): 6:05pm On Jun 23, 2008 |
people don't lie because the are ashamed of being nigerian, but they minute you claim nigeria, then people start talking nonsense and asking ignorant questions and we don't have time for that. so to the ignorant ones you lie to and the smart ones, you don't lie to.
but anyways, the question you asked was stupid and didn't make sense. you asking why nigerians lie about being from another country, how about you ask the non nigerians why they claim/rep nigeria. |

Music/Radio › Re: Modern Rap Is Judged Harshly Compared To Other Genres? by naijadiva2(f): 5:52pm On Jun 17, 2008 |
bgees: modern rap deserves to be judged harshly. why ? u might want to ask.
i just thank GOD i was born in the 1980's , so i knew what real rap music was like. then rap music was creative, u could see the talent ,the effort and the quality in a rap song just by listening to it. back then, rappers(gangster rappers included) knew the job, they sang about REAL things. even if they sang about violence, drugs and other vices, they were always real with it.
UNLIKE THESE DAYS, where a rapper's song is only limited to d club and women. i dare to say this, modern rap u listen to this days ( little'wayne, plies, rick ross, etc) is a total deviation from the true meanings of rap music.
i am happy we have people like lupe fiasco and guys like NaS ,scarface, and kanye still making music. exactly my point. |
